If you can get past the cash only rule and the general indifference of the staff since you have to order in front of bullet proof glass barriers, they really do have the best fried chicken in town. Don't go if you care anything about eating healthy because that is not that kind of place... I mean, even the vegetables are fried. Also, familiarize yourself with the menu, there is a certain kind of lingo you should use to make it easier on yourself and the staff.. if you try to get too complicated, they just act like they didn't hear you.

As with most long running restaurants, employee turnover often dictates the tone, content and quality of a visit. I am confident that I have experienced just such an incident recently. With a highly trained and confident team, Indi's is a must-have as a tourist or visitor to Louisville Recommended highly with hopes that quality is high and service is timely. The chicken and sides will speak for themselves. Menu favorites; spicy (as opposed to mild) fried chicken, sweet potatoes, (or yams) mac & cheese, and greens. I have not been disappointed by any menu item thus far. Price: med-high but worth it.

I order a fish dinner. When I received it it was hot as if they just frayed it fresh as usual. But when I continued to eat it began to taste rancid. Old and even smelly. It seemed to have been cooked an hour or two before and held under the heat light.

Not sure what all the hype was about. The food wasn't that good, the potato wedges were too spicy and there was no option for a non spicy potato wedge. The chicken strips were dry and pretty bland. Every table was dirty, when we finally got someone to clean the tables he wiped the table,then the seat then wiped the table again with the same rag he just used to wipe the seats people just sat in. That's not even the worst, he then took the same tag and repeated the same process on all the tables. Ohhh, here's what really got under my skin, this is mainly a chicken spot and the nickel and dime you, by charging for condiments.

Well, first you gotta know your going here for King's spicy chicken. It's unique, tastes great and doesn't compare to anything else out there. And you HAVE to have potato wedges with your chicken. Now, to get the full experience you need to go to the West Broadway location. CASH only for your bird and you order through a speaker to folks on the other side of a glass wall. You'll figure it.

Indi's has fallen off in quality over the last few years but if you're looking to get something to eat on the late night in downtown Louisville then it's a convenient option. Buffet style southern fried food with homemade lemonade and grape juice. Not my first choice but it will get the job done.

I love their chicken, i cannot lie! And the side are always equally amazing, however, i ordered jack salmon dinner which is supposed to be made "FRESH" it was both dry and greasy. The meat was dry & the breading was oily & it had no flavor what so ever, i called a few minutes up the street, & had been told that the cook would drop me two more fresh pieces & they were very apologetic for my unhappiness and inconvenience of having to come back. Needless to say, 20 mins later.. SAME RESULT. Crazy that the day before this incident took place, I ordered the same exact thing & it was truly AMAZING because it clearly made me come back. Im giving 3 stars because they arent all around bad and the people are very friendly & verbal while youre there. Its also a very clean establishment. However i have removed 2 stars due to the failure of fulfilling my needs and i made it clear that i left the hospital just to come get food there & i had to settle for an empty stomach and unhappiness until i could get hospital food after paying 15$ to eat good. Not to mention, I'm having a baby early.. I expected to eat good one last time.

Indi's did not disappoint as my first and only taste of Kentucky fried chicken. Out of courtesy, we called ahead to warn them that we had a large order coming, but they didn't take orders over the phone (and hung up on my friend). I noticed that most patrons come to order takeout, and we did the same. As you walk inside, you're immediately met with a large menu and glass counter with all their chicken and sides on display. There is a small window where they hand you the food, but you're speaking to the staff behind the glass. There were only two of them - one did the assembling, another took our cash. There was a steady stream of people hungry for chicken. The sides didn't look incredibly appetizing, but I'm told by a regular that the broccoli casserole is good. After some serious math-ing, my friends and I ordered a few of the family packs (chicken only) and wedges. You have three options for chicken: spicy, mild, and regular. Let me save you the trouble: spicy is the way to go. For some reason, the skin was crispier and it was all much juicier than the regular. It's got a kick, naturally but is totally tolerable and worth it. The wedges are giant. Forget everything you've ever known about wedges. I'd venture to say that there is straight-up half a potato in a single wedge. These are long wedges, my friends. The chicken and wedges were so delicious, but if you care about service, I had a few gripes: - Not being able to order over the phone - It would have been easier with more menu options (like a family bucket of 30+ pieces, colonel style), but we made it work - Presentation of sides wasn't great - The staff were friendly but had a hard time putting our order together - The server nearly tried to give us all tiny baby wings until we protested, but I think he was new. We wanted some legs, man. - We had to ask for ketchup and napkins Oh, and it's cash only. We inhaled our chicken by the waterfront and our group of 13 was pleased and their bellies were full. It came out to around $6 a person, which was totally worth it.

This is one of the best places I’ve ever had wings. This blows Popeyes out of the water. Be ready for the lines though cause this place is no secret. If you want real southern cooking and great tasting food this is the place to go to. Don’t miss out on this goldmine. That’s the truth.
