A brunch buffet with endless made to order crèpes for $14 dollars. Its unbeatable.
It was pretty good. Service was excellent
Rob and Will make it easy to hang out in the bar. The entire serve staff seems to be watching out for all customers. I enjoyed the food. But I enjoyed the great atmosphere just as much!
Come here regularly with the family. Bar is fantastic, bartenders are friendly, great selection of beer and liquor, and on top of that the food is good. The menu is interesting, catering in all different directions, but if you're hankering for something specific you can definitely ask.
Great service, wonderful food. We had Easter dinner there ,wonderful buffet we already have Thanksgiving dinner reservations .
Ordered a burger well done and it was perfect. Hard to get a well done burger any where out.
My family loves this place and we visit regularly. I have noticed the service starting to go downhill. I realize we all have bad days sometimes, as I was in the service industry for 21 years, but it should not be consistent among the staff. After this last visit, from which I just left, I was very disappointed. It took several minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us. While we waited, my child really needed to use the restroom so I stopped by the hostess stand to let them know I left some belongings on our table (in the bar area) so no one else takes it, and also asked for a couple waters. We were having brunch and grabbed s table in the bar because it was not crowded yet. We opted for the buffet, which had a lot of low food items and was out of several. Upon returning to our table to eat, we only had one silverware roll. I got up to get my son a napkin and the hostess politely asked me if everything is ok. I said yes, but that we would like to order something else I just didn’t know who my server was. Our server came to the table promptly after that, apologizing for missing us earlier, and was amazing! I got back in the buffet line before we left to grab a little more of something, and there were no plates. The bar tender with a blonde ponytail and darker beard was obviously aware of the situation, so I asked him if there were more on the way as he grabbed a coffee cup and walked to the back. He didn’t even turn around to acknowledge me, kept walking, and hollered back “there should be some on the way”...while a line of guests stood waiting for plates. He made zero effort to support his team as I saw him walking around through different doorways in the back, and then return back to the bar area empty handed. Not until a cook came out to check some food was I able to ask for more plates, at which point he got them for us. While I finished my meal in the bar area, I watched the bartender walk around showing zero hospitality, heard him repeat the same phrase to multiple guests “it should be on the way”, and constantly walk around empty handed. What was he there for? He certainly wasn’t supporting his team! I do realize bartenders have to come in and prep in the mornings on Sunday, I did it many a Sunday myself, and not feel like they have the same opportunity, but it’s not worth losing business. His behavior is what convinced me to write this review, cause like I said before, I can be empathetic to servers in the industry having been part of it for so long. But I certainly don’t appreciate leaving an establishment feeling like I was not appreciated, and more like I was burdening and interrupting someone’s day!
Only been here for Sunday brunch. $18 per person. Very good buffet selection, but don't fill up there. They have a great a la carte selection included in the price. Crepes, omelets, stuffed french toast, but plan on the Eggs Benedict. Most people can't poach an egg to save their life, but they nailed it. Very much recommend trying this instead of waiting in line for "that other place" across the parking lot.
I had very nice service and a good salmon salad. The price was a bit high for the salad. But I like the atmosphere and the service so I will be back sometime.
Great! Food was delicious, service was exceptional and the restaurant was clean and very nice! Must try!
Good food, reasonably priced. Casual atmosphere and friendly service.
Love their menu options and mimosas.. always good service. One of my favorite brunch spots!
Great Breakfast with live music.
Wonderful atmosphere, terrific service and fabulous food. Definitely will be back.
A good time
Great food. Little pricey.
Wow... what an underwhelming experience. Brunch on Sunday the 21st. Aside from horrible service from Mary, slow and grumpy, and couldn’t get our orders right, there was food and jazz. The food itself, is Shoneys buffet level or below. The ordered food was Cracker Barrel level. The jazz, I’ve heard this stuff from junior high groups. Overall, it could have been average...but Mary was simply horrible.
Comfortable atmosphere. Good sized portions. Several interesting menu items. We would go back.
Very good Emily our server was excellent ss
First time here and it was excellent.
Perfect place for Sunday brunch
Nothing to rave about but pretty good food.
Amazing variety on the menu, food was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Went there for dinner. Was pleasantly surprised. We had a group of four. Everyone enjoyed there meal. I felt prices were good. Also thought the portions were generous.
I ordered portobello tacos. It was okay. The side dish of mushrooms was delicious. I heard the hot brown (ordered by several) was delicious. The staff was very friendly.
The food, service and atmosphere were very good. I would certainly go back.
Good service. (Scott is especially great!) Good food. (The shrimp and grits are amazing!)
I've eaten here a number of times and it's always good. Great food, friendly and attentive service, and clean. Everything I've eaten is among the best I've ever had in its category, like the Gander burger and Grit Cakes. I'd like more shrimp on the shrimp tacos but the taste is perfect. These guys have perfected their garnishes and sauces. Gander is one of those places that you can rely on to be consistently good and the atmosphere suits everything from the individual, to a couple on a date, to people meeting for business as there were today.
Great food! Staff was friendly and professional. Manager came to each table to greet customers in a warm and friendly manner.
Too noisy,. Very slow service, disinterested server
Great American grill cuisine, attentive service, food consistently and well prepared to your preference. Outside seating available, weather permitting. Caution - may become a habit.
Great food, exceptional staff. Chris was amazing.
Had a wonderful three course meal here and enjoyed wonderful service. The atmosphere was very pleasant. I would definitely return.
Great service for our large group. Keep the liquids refilled, never letting them go empty. Food was served hot!
OK, but I was tasting that B & B appetizer with the BBQ chips for an hour after we left.
Great food and service, the place was nice and clean. Loved the chicken tenders and fries.
We had an excellent Sunday brunch at Gander. If you are looking for a brunch buffet with healthy options in addition to yummy bacon and hot browns, then Gander is the place for you. Sweet chili salmon is my favorite.
The chicken fried chicken was very good. I loved the braised mushrooms and fried green tomatoes. Our waitress was quick and attentive. The lunch portion was just right for me.
Brunch is wonderful, waiter( sorry forgot the name) was great Johnny on the spot type of a person. They have omelets, crepes and French toast included with the brunch. All in all everything was grand.
The service was great, but the food and atmosphere was not what I expected. Maybe I expected too much, but several people had told me this was a great place to eat. IMO, it was a bit pricey for what it was, maybe that's why I was disappointed. It's more like a lunch cafe experience than a dinner place, with what I consider uncomfortable wooden chairs (when seated in the middle). I ordered the fish and chips, and I was slightly disappointed($16). They were more than willing to please and offered me another entree. I have no complaints with the level of service! 5 stars for service!
Very good. The other two people really liked their salad, and hot brown. My turkey club was great. The fries, while interestingly shaped, didn't seem fresh.
Lunch buffet on New Years Eve was excellent! Blueberry bourbon crepes, biscuits and gravy, salmon, live jazz duo, and mimosas were some of the high points. Highly recommended!
We love there Sunday Brunch! And highly recommend it!
First time here, but will be back!! Came after church for Sunday brunch buffet. Amazing variety of food. Plus you can can order stuffed french toast (it was great), crepes, and more made to order included with the buffet. Great breakfast variety on the buffet plus ribs, salmon, and much more. Dessert was included also. I loved the key lime...yum. Huge variety, fresh, awesome service, all for only $14.99 plus drink. I had water and my husband ordered a mimosa. Can't wait to come back :)
The Sunday buffet was amazing and totally worth the wait! We especially enjoyed the live music... but a reservation is def recommended.
Sunday buffet of powdered eggs and mediocre food overall. Too pricey for offerings. Will not go back.
Nice place for happy hour. We only had a couple of apps. Ahi tuma was fresh and good. Grit cake was large and also very good. Drinks were strong and made well. In a strip mail and looked like every other restaurant in a strip mall but we enjoyed the company and our $5 martinis.
Food was good-service good-nice atmosphere- prices a little high.
Go to the Sunday brunch early. We went a bit late today and the buffet food wasn't hot. You can buy a la carte, crepes, benedicts, omelets etc, do that. The live music is super cool!
Interesting choices for food just off the Snyder. Chicken, pastas, tacos and mor. Plenty of drink options and rotation each week.
Ehhhh, it's ok. The first time we tried it last year, the food was good and fresh. The staff was enthusiastic. The last two times we went recently, the first thing I noticed was the front doors had not been cleaned; finger prints were everywhere. That only continued to the inside. It wasn't what I would call unclean, just a lack of attention to detail. For example, when you clean the table, make sure that no crumbs or food particles are left behind on the table or the floor. My broccoli seemed microwaved instead of steamed. Not tasty at all. Staff was/is pleasant although there was a bartender that was swearing up a storm describing an incident to another customer. Bartender was nice, just unprofessional with the language. It just seems like everyone has settled in and has gotten comfortable and there doesn't seem to be very much effort being put forth. If there were another American Grill in that area, I'm not sure Gander would last.
GREAT variety of food!
Loved it!
The food is amazing, especially the fried green tomatoes! The wait time isn't too long, even during busy nights. They have fundraiser nights every Tuesday with a different fundraiser every week where 5% of all their sales go towards whichever benefit is for that week. The servers and bartenders are super friendly and always do whatever they can to make sure you leave full and satisfied.
Good food. Good service.
The fried green tomatoes were the best I've ever had. Our waitress was incredible. However, the entres were just average.
Best burger in town, cold beer, friendly staff, good service. We will be back.
Best Hot Brown in town!
Great food
Great place great happy hour. Great bartender - Robb
Was expecting more. The food we got was all very blah and tasted the same. Was a little on the cold side. Beer was cold though!! Place was packed and seemed like a decent hangout.
Lovely brunch today. The live jazz combo was pleasant and music spot on for brunch. The food was all very nicely done with a wide variety. My only bit of constructive criticism is that the coffee was sub-par. A higher grade of coffee would be an improvement. We will be back and will bring friends.
Delicious southwest chicken salad. Always have good service.
The food is excellent
Excellent food and our server was very attentive
This is amazing. I would suggest it to anybody. I will certainly come back again. The waiter was amazing and helped me find what I need. The service was amazing.
Love this spot for lunch or even dinner. Everything I’ve had is great. And great prices. Highly recommend.
Best Shrimp & Grits! So delicious!
Great food and nice atmosphere. Enjoy going there
Consistently good food and enjoyable experience. Portions are more than adequate. Pricing is very reasonable.
Chicken livers were awesome!
Great food but poor service
Very good food and service. My 81-yr-old mother, a Louisville native, grades the Hot Brown as “the best she’s ever eaten anywhere.” Highly recommended.
Wonderful, since it was my first time to be there. Delicious food and service too.
Very disappointing experience. Went on Sunday for brunch which was overpriced. The food was gross, pancakes were chewy like they had been made in the microwave. Eggs were gross too, and sausage was undercooked. The waitress looked like she hated her life and wanted to rush us out as soon as possible. And for some reason they had a live jazz duo?? I was very confused by this as the atmosphere is far too casual for live jazz music. Overall I left confused and dissatisfied. Should’ve just gotten a McGriddle from McDonald’s and saved myself $50.
My kids and I really like this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious. I don't eat meat and was very happy with all of the vegetarian and seafood options. Our server was Mary. She did a great job and was very sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back. We have a small list of restaurants that we go to and now this is one of them.
Food was awful! But our server, Mary, was wonderful. Not a problem with timing or temperature, just the recipes themselves taste terrible and we had 3 dishes.... each equally awful.
The fried Green tomatoes are good, if a little thin. The fgt BLT had tons of crispy bacon. Yummy, but it made it harder to eat towards the end.
I was expecting much more. The food was not bad but really didn't impress me and not worth the price. The atmosphere was uninteresting. The dessert was so bad that we sent it back twice and then just cancelled dessert completely. The manager never came over and said anything about the dessert issue. We went there for our anniversary and it was really disappointing. We left there and went elsewhere for dessert.
Fried green tomato BLT o Is delicious
Great salads and to go!
The food and the service was excellent. The portions were very impressive.
Surprisingly good. This place is easy to miss. Be sure to seek it out
Brunch buffet was great! Lots of options to choose from. All food seems thoughtfully prepared. There's a menu of extras that are included in brunch buffet price. Omelettes, stuffed French toast, bananas Foster, I recommend trying a crepe. Great food. Great variety. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Loved the live sax and bass. Relaxing Christmas music in the bar.
Great food and service. Scott was great!
Asian American flair with a fantastic menu and reasonable prices.
Excellent food and atmosphere
Food and service was excellent!
Fantastic Kentucky hot brown
The brunch buffet is absolutely delicious! Great price, great taste and lots of options. Highly recommended!
Very good hamburger and hot brown. Everything else is served Luke warm even when you instruct the waiter/waitress you want your food delivered hot. Salads are picked from a tree out back.
Crab cakes were hot and tasty. The fried green tomatoes were memorable. Would definitely return. A little pricey for lunch.
Seated quickly during a busy time. Too much good food to even sample it all.
Love the Sunday brunch
Fantastic place to go for lunch! Great food!
Excellent. The food was plentiful. Plated well. Kitchen was on top of their game. I was last customer of the night but was not rushed. Our server could not improve. She was prompt but not a nuisance. As good as they get. Upon leaving we were thanked by several from the team. I thought this kind of service was non existent in today's world. Don't let this one go without your visit.
Food was wonderful, staff was great. BUT im very disappointed they dont do ftozen drinks. Just saying. If they had a better bar menu it would hve been 5 star.
The buffet was amazing! Highly recommend this place.
Great food and staff, a must!
Gander is great one of the best Hot Browns in town and the Sunday Brunch Buffet is Fantastic!
Great atmosphere, service and food!
Food was fantastic! Staff friendly and accommodating
Love eating here. Fantastic food. Came here today for lunch with my coworkers and our waitress Mary was great. Very helpful and on the spot. We had a great time and everyone at our table was commenting on what a fantastic job Mary did.
Worth the money and fresh
Thanksgiving again this year at Gander, service and food spot on! Really enjoyed the afternoon!
Good food, nice atmosphere, great service
Fabulous hot brown sandwich
I've been here twice, and both times the food was delicious! Nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices. Can't wait to try something else!
love this place. food is hreat, service is wonderful. their sunday brunch is amazing.
The staff remains the same which is a positive. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Great food and service.
Very good food and service..
Good service. Nice menu. Salad was fresh and entree was served hot. Nice experience.
The stuffed french toast is life changing
Disgusting experience. I was served a plate of food that had been partially eaten by another guest! A factual narrative of the event follows: I was one of a group of ten. After a lengthy delay, our food was served and there was confusion regarding who had ordered what. Only nine meals were served. I sat there without any food while the others began to eat. I later discovered that my order had been served to another guest and that person apparently decided to eat what she was served rather wait for the meal she had ordered to be prepared. Eventually the server returned to our table and asked me what I had ordered. When I told her, she went to the person who was then eating my dinner and apologized for the mistake. The server took away the plate of food that the other person was eating, saying that she would bring the correct order. A short time later the server, Lauren D. (204) returned and brought the meal that I had ordered. After placing the food in front of me and observing my reaction, she acknowledged that the dinner she had just served to me was, in fact, the same plate of food that she had taken from another guest a short time before! There has been considerable local publicity regarding an ongoing epidemic of hepatitis, a highly communicable disease. Outbreaks of this serious illness have been attributed to unsanitary practices at local restaurants. In consideration of that publicity, one might reasonably expect food service outlets to better train and supervise their employees. In my opinion, my experience yesterday evening at Gander was an outrageous violation of acceptable conduct. If you find this review helpful, please mark the "thumbs up" icon below.
Pork chop was a poor cut of meat. The bourbon sauce was less than desirable. My wife couldn’t eat the shrimp scampi because it was so lemony that it made her lips pucker. Seems like they are trying too hard and not providing good American cuisine.
I Absolutely love Gander the have the best pretzels and cheese this side of the east in my opinion and the wait staff is absolutely amazing and kind
Great Sunday Brunch! Cook to order Omelets, Eggs Benedict, Crepes and Bananas Foster. Many premade Desserts! All dishes were good. Shrimp and grits great! Before noon, we were seated quickly. Recommend reservations.
Little pricey, portions are okay. Nice upper scale casual dining. Food is pretty decent. Staff has always been really friendly and great at checking in on you and filling up drinks as needed. Overall good place for family outing, special occasion or a date.
Had not been back since initial opening. Tried it again last night. Very attractive space, but food is mediocre. Service is pleasant, had a drink whisked away without inquiring first, a little put out by that. Efficient and quick delivery of food even though restaurant was pretty busy. Nice place as long as food expectations are not too high. Reasonable prices.
Great food and service!
If you want a BIG brunch not made from packaged process food, THIS is the place. Whew. I think I need a nap.
Excellent fish and sidewinder fries. Very pleasant and attentive service. A desperately needed restaurant East of Gene Snyder.
We were seated with the sun in our eyes and asked to be moved. Our beer was warm. We ordered and after the server left we saw a special for Grouper. When our server came back to the table we asked about the special. This upset our server. We had another server take care of us for the rest of the evening because we upset the other one by asking about the special. I ordered 1/2 and 1/2 tea was brought only sweet. Only served water after second server came to the table. Will not be back. I have a bad taste from this first visit.
Been here several times. Lunch, Sunday Brunch and dinner. The menu is well placed. Everyone in your party should be able to find a dish. Service is excellent. The Sunday brunch has live music which I love! Try it. I really like the place.
Excellent service, excellent food!
Food was good service was good
Food here is amazing!!!! Never had a bad experience, ever. Service is great!
Dinner was good, service was pretty good also. Did have one complaint. We went with a big group for my dad's birthday. Secretly told one of the servers and she said she would relay the message to our server and they would bring him a dessert for his birthday. Never did receive any dessert or happy birthday. Didn't bother saying anything to our server as everyone was ready to go after dinner. Other than that, everything was fine.
I was with a group of 20 woman and one magical waitress. We were pre-paid, but I still left a further tip for excellent service. My choice for lunch was a salmon salad....was terrific..ate every morsel.
Food was good but highly disappointed. Had an Entertainment book coupon that clearly stated $10 off $40 ticket. Exclusions not mentioned. They had a drink special $2.00 off glasses of wine this day. I was unaware they even had the drink special each Tuesday as this was my first time there. Since my friend and I ordered wine they would not honor my coupon. Pretty cheesy. Will not be back. Very bad way to do business.
Not very good. We had grit cakes for appetizer and it was good but both our dinners were not good..... $16 for crab cakes and they were terrible, tasted like there was cinnamon inside the body of the cake. My husband ordered chicken marsala pasta he had to return it. We both agreed it was aweful. This was unfortunate because we like supporting local businesses.
This was my first trip to this place, it was great,we had aparty of about 15 and the service and food was wonderful. I will return
Sunday brunch is awesome. The variety of food options is great. Our server was Mary, she was wonderful.
Pleasantly surprised at how good the foos was!
I've been once so far. The food wasn't anything ground breaking, but it was decent. I'd think of it as a step above the O'Charlies/Applebee's/TGI Fridays level of restaurants. I plan to go back and sample more of the menu.
My friends order was wrong but they were very willing to fix the error. The food I had was very good. The club sandwich with coleslaw and ice tea. The waitress was most helpful, promptly refilled my ice tea multiple times.
Nice varied menu. Attentive staff. Fairly priced. Comfortable. It's a good place.
A modern American menu with a casual atmosphere. We got the goat cheese fritters served with a sweet chili sauce and for our entree we got the Kobe beef Burger with fries. I could recommend any of these as a top pick on the menu! They also have crab cakes made with real crab for a decent price. I'll becoming back!
Great food! Excellent service!
Highly recommend. . Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes with white gravy and mac n cheese!! My friend got the fish tacos and it was also delicious...
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville. I have NEVER had a bad visit and I visit here often. Absolutely amazing food and service.
I enjoyed the hot brown and Caesar salad with bacon added to it and my husband enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich with loaded potato soup
Very busy last night as expected. However my pork chop was way over done and like shoe leather. Our waiter was good and attentive and my wife's meal was good so that saved the evening.
Food was good; but small portions. Received our appetizers before our cocktails and had to ask where they were before we got them. Felt rushed at the beginning of our dinning experience; then when we made an effort to slow things down, we became forgotten.
Great service and good food the first time we ordered take-out (4.5 stars), which is why we ordered again tonight... they didn't make 1 of 2 entrees yet they swapped the sides of this missing entree for the other . That's no big deal. I've worked restaurants - little mistakes due to human error, it's okay. But when the customer mentions the entree was excluded, asked when it would be ready, and was curious why it was not made; refrain from saying "sorry to hear about that, hopefully next time." If I'd received honesty regarding the mistake and perhaps a genuine apology, I may have stopped by to try that missing Fish and Chips some time in the future.
Wow. Recommended by a friend when I asked about drinks. Too bad I missed happy hour (over @ 6:30) and I was too tired to hang out until 9. Food was fantastic. Drinks were tasty. I was offered free dessert b/c my entree was delayed. We had cocktails, appetizers, made substitutions on menu. Nothing caused our server to kiss a beat. She made great Suggestions (even though I wasnt 100% in agreement, I appreciated her input. I will be back
Brunch was reasonably priced and tasted amazing
Wow. Just wow. I can't believe they aren't charging more. Let me say... I like chicken livers, they're ok. But I've never knew that I could love them more than anything, until I had them at Gander. Holy cow these people know how to make solidly good food. If you haven't been, go. Every day you haven't eaten at this place, or Goose Creek Diner for that matter, is a day wasted. Do it. Oh and try the 15th State cocktail. Smoked cherry? Yes please. I'll have another.
Strawberry salad is amazing. The soup was mediocre. Staff could be alittle more attentive.
Liked the place. Good food and good service. Will go back again and will recommend it to family and friends.
Try the prime rib! And fried green tomatoes!
I have been alot of places but this by far is the greatest. Can't wait to go back. Food is great with reasonable prices
Great food and fantastic service!
Nice meal good value
Thanksgiving buffet was wonderful! Lots of choices & traditional food. Service A+. Make your reservations early. Clean restaurant and restrooms.
Amazing food, great service, great bartender, long time since we had such an amazing dinner out better yet it wasn't just dinner it was an experience!! Highly recommend!
Food is good. Drinks are great. They offer several beers on tap, but never seem to get it right. Variety is good, but for some reason have a hard time finding one I want. Menu prices dont look intimidating. But when I get the bill, it is always higher than expected. Still a nice restaurant and bar.
