REVIEWS OF Doc Crow's Southern Smokehouse & Raw Bar IN Kentucky

Ruste Pontenberg

I can only base my review on a beer and an appetizer. I love seafood and raw bars. My go-to test has always been Oysters Rockefeller. Bartenders and service were fine. Unfortunately, the Oysters Rockefeller were the second worst I've ever had. Small and cold. Second worst I've had only to a place in Michigan that made them out of canned smoked oysters packed in oil you get at the grocery store. Really disappointing, but liked the atmosphere enough that I'll probably try the place again for a full meal to see if it's any better.

Excellent selection for dining in Whiskey Row! Atmosphere is laid back and comfortable with a menu with something for everyone. I had lean brisket, derby pie, and some bourbon - of course

Gema Hernan

The food is really good. I tried the House salad with added pulled pork, pulled pork sandwich and beef brisket sandwich. The last one was a little dry so I would not order again. Fried okra is also very good and the chips they put with the sandwiches are also good. The restaurant is really nice inside, clean, friendly staff and wide selection of bourbons.

Bridget Fitzgerald

It's been years ago when I went... about 5, so believe they had not been opened long. I remember the food was decent, and our waitress horrible..... I'm sure things are better now.

c parker

Delicious! From the outside looks like a hole in the wall, but once inside it’s a huge, casual restaurant. Loved their signature sauce!

Khepri TemuRa

When your food is not the best, you have to at least offset with good service. Not the case at this place. Better luck next time.

Greg

This was scrumdilliumptious!!! Heapin chips (to die for), shrimp and grits, and a side of brisket! Will definitely go back next time we go to Louisville! Molly was a fantastic waitress!

Nike Sites

Popular restaurant for tourists and residents in a great location. It’s hard to leave there without feeling satisfied. The quality has declined a little over the years because of its popularity. It could use some new ideas. One of the better restaurants for people to try downtown food.

Denise Gamble

The food was amazing! We had a great waiter named Kelsey and even saw a familiar face. The drinks were refreshing and the food temperatures and taste were scrumptious!

Tim Wheeler

Awesome food and service.

Christopher Ellis

Great BBQ, terrific service, and an overall pleasant experience. The food was really great and the restaurant is MASSIVE. The crazy part is, despite the fact that the restaurant is so big, the place still filled up so you know it's doing something right.

Raymond R.

Amazing smoked food! Absolutely recommend for anyone visiting Louisville!

Andrew Coe

Got a sample take out platter. 2 small pieces of brisket, small pile of pulled pork, chicken was ok. In terms of true BBQ, not great.

Brandy Foreman

AMAZING! A MUST EAT FOR LOUISVILLE. Service was awesome and it's a very cute down home restaurant

Linsey Schafer

We came to Doc Crow’s on a recommendation from a local who told us they have the best old fashioned around. They were right. The cocktails, while a touch pricey, were absolutely outstanding and a perfect stop after our Old Forester Distillery tour next door. Go here for an excellent old fashioned, some kind banter with the bar staff, and a delicious appetizer to share amongst friends!

Jason Newman

Late in the season to expect some of the allocated bourbons as they were out of most, but everything else was great. Bartender was very knowledgeable and informative with a surprising sense of humor.

Lively variety of music, table/ booth seating, service was great our Server Jenelle was super attentive and got our order in then too us quickly. Food was very well prepaid and served hot... lip snacking good... if you order the chicken or ribs be prepared to lick your fingers... Relaxing atmosphere, this would be the perfect place for a romantic dinner or relaxing evening. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brian Blair

The food was excellent, probably some of the best barbeque I've ever had, which means something since I've lived in Memphis. The brisket sandwich was incredible and the chips were fresh. Can't wait to to back.

Sheree Sarandos

Good variety of food. Large servings and the prices are great.

Don Hall

Was a little disappointed in the ribs. Very tough and dry. Seasoning was ok. Oysters were very good. Waitress was great and doing her best to keep up with everything she was over.

Eric Steele

This place was off the chain. The only complaint I had is that the brisket was dry. But other then that the crab cakes the hushpuppies and the smoked wings were fire. So were the cocktails. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, and I will definitely be back.

Pattie Rost

Greatest bartenders! Made perfect suggestion for a unique bourbon that we would never have tried without his insight. Thanks for ending our Kentucky trip with a great time and a lot of laughs!

Marshall Lee

Absolutely amazing menu. Great new south cuisine, smoke house classics, and great bar. The consistency of great service makes this a goto place for me.

Daniel Nicholson

Lively atmospheres and prompt service. The shrimp and oyster po-boy was amazing. Good selection of craft beers and plenty of bourbon

Shanon J

They said that the meat was slow cooked for 13 hours but I didn't find that to be true. I ordered the bone on beef short rib. The meat was very fatty and there was too much red for the meat to be well done. The menu said 17oz beef ribs but after cutting away all of the fat it was only about 8 oz of meat. As you can see from the picture the meat was very fatty and even the loaded potatoes were a mess. Definitely not worth the money.

Kyle Rogers

Amazing bbq. Nice place for a casual night. Great services.

Jonathan Wilson

You are visiting from out of town? Great! Go here. Super good food. Knowledgeable and accommodating wait staff. Great for large parties and smaller groups. Extensive whiskey list. Food was stellar. Fun vibe to the whole location. Total winner.

Antonio Rocha

I was in Louisville for a conference and my Lyft driver told me to have dinner at Doc Crow’s. All the reviews suggested he was right so I had dinner at Doc Crow’s. I had dinner twice at Doc Crow’s; once on Friday before Thunder Over Louisville and then again that Sunday night. Both nights I had the pulled pork plate and it was delicious both times. I did switch up my side from the sweet potato fries to the regular fries. They were both amazing and crunchy. I did order the hush puppies on Friday night but they weren’t that great. They weren’t bad either but they were missing something. Either way, you will not be disappointed by the food and drinks at Doc Crow’s.

Kari B Gold

It doesn't get any better than this!!! Easily the best macaroni side dish I've ever eaten, along with the side dish of al dente green beans with tomatoes and onions in some kind of absolutely scrumptious sauce base. The BBQ was excellent, but a little too spicy for my liking, even though it was superb. You are going to pay for what you get... costly, but total superb food!! You will want to eat here if you are in Louisville!!

Jaya Weaver

Try the lemonade mint julep! It's fantastic. Also the nachos were really good. We got them with the chips, but the table beside us had them on fries. We will definitely try that next time. Crab cakes are delicious as well as the bbq. The greens were my favorite side dish. I also loved the fried chicken, spicy but delicious. We had enough food for 2 meals.

Kelsey Bristol

Had a glass of wine poured down my back by a server but the food and service was excellent!

Robert Carver

Walked in and it was hot, extremely hot. Not good for heat of summer. Was quoted 30 minute wait with no else around waiting. Turned around and left.

Christopher

The best food and bar offerings in downtown Louisville. It is hard to find a great bar with good food, let alone great, knowledgeable staff, but this place nails all three. Reasonable menu prices, and extensive bourbon offerings.

Mervin Coffey

Awesome!!! They have great food and drinks, and the staff is excellent and amiable. The atmosphere was cozy. All the food was amazing and fresh. Will definitely return!

Josh Cooper

Was super busy so a long wait for tables but the bar is open seating so I snagged a seat there. Bartenders were nice guys. Had the St. Louis Ribs, greens, and fried okra. All three were awesome. Their hot sauce was actually totally delicious so I ended up buying a bottle to take home. Would recommend, but would also recommend making a reservation.

Shalyn Najjar

Excellent, hot and fresh food. Unique menu. Incredible service. Friendly and attentive.

Ebony Allen

Great food!!! They allowed us to come in and place an order 4 mins before the kitchen closed...... SUPERB

Randall

Ate lunch here today. It was delicious. Nice atmosphere, friendly service and great food! I will certainly return.

Jolie Patel

Super fun place, great food and service.

Maddy van Bilsen

Ordered the sample platter for take out. Meal included brisket, pulled pork and a choice of chicken or ribs, we got chicken. The brisket was 2 very small pieces and the pulled pork tasted watery. Chicken tasted pretty good. No cutlery included in take out order.

John lafond

I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was superb. The service was excellent as well.

Jason Wellsbury

Not what I expected. Food was dry and not the 4.4 as rated. Server was ok but food was sub par at best

Joshua Smith

We stopped in here for lunch with a large party and were not disappointed in anyway. I ordered the Shrimp and Cheddar Grits (with a side of cornbread) and it was hands down the best Shrimp and Grits I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. My Wife ordered the BBQ sampler which everything was flavorful and juicy. The chicken was amazing! The service was fast, drinks never emptied and were quickly refilled without prompting, food came out fast and correct. I come to Louisville a few times a year and I'm going to be stopping by here each time now to re-experience those Shrimp and Cheddar Grits. Well done to the staff at Doc Crow's. You made a wonderful impression and your food was amazing!

Deanna Schardein

Extraordinary food--salmon, sampler, kids' chicken planks, ribs, fries, lime beans! Unfortunately, there was a very very loud large group seated directly behind us, who were yelling the entire time! Otherwise, it was a delicious meal which everyone enjoyed!

Marty Shaw

I was immediately greeted and seated. The waitress, Jess appeared soon and was great suggesting several low carb options. I settled on the fried oysters to start- which were amazing, they use cornmeal. Next came the Chili which is meaty, made fresh daily. Finally I had the no-frills baby back ribs, very tender and very good. IF YOU FOUND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL, PLEASE CLICK LIKE.

henry Park

awesome place for smoked bbq. better than that of Georgia

Ashley Zippin

The atmosphere the food the service all on point!!!

Bryan Blacksher

Great place to eat. Great brisket, great pork chops that I had. Friends had shrimp & grits, and Oyster Rockefeller. Great service. Been there twice and will probably go again tomorrow. Spinach salad had ginger-flavored croutons which set it off really well.

Robert Moore

Fantastic BBQ with accommodation for someone with severe fish allergies. Would 100% recommend to someone for a relaxing meal sampling what Louisville has to offer.

Tyler Peacock

The restaurant is HUGE. Service was phenomenal. The food and service was excellent and devouring. Nice selection of beers. I'd visit again whenever I'm in Louisville, for sure!

Ryan Faulise

EXCELLENT BBQ! Not sure what else you need to hear. F-in Good! Service is superb as well

Tom Greg

Great for lunch or dinner. Try and sit at the bar as the service is good and the food is a delight. UPS hub means fresh oysters which I traditionally wouldn't touch this far from the sea, but are excellent when in stock: PEI, ME, MA, plus those ribs?! Yes please.

KO Sabath

Great drink selection and the oysters were delicious. Should have skipped the shrimp. Not bad, but the oysters were a better choice.

Ben Huston

Service was good by waitress was not very friendly. She did her job been nothing more. The brisket was awesome. Very juicy and great flavor. Did not even need bbq sauce. But when I did use it the sauce was great also. Make sure to make reservations or plan on waiting for a while

Donna Bowers

The best shrimp and grits I've ever had! Great selection of cocktails. Service was ok; it seems this place is always very busy.

Aaron Evers

I always have a wonderful experience at this place. Great cocktails, food, raw bar, and atmosphere!! I highly recommend this place when in Louisville.

Gladys Carpenter

While googling and trying to figure out where to stop for lunch during our whirlwind trip through Louisville, Doc Crows popped up. Needless to say, it was an experience we won't forget and look forward to getting back soon! Food was incredible, service was great. A must have if you're going to visit or just drive through Louisville. Affordable city parking is right across the street.

Frieda Rose

We absolutely loved our experience here. The cocktails were so unusual and incredible. I had a gin cocktail made with lemon, Cracked Pepper and smoked Rosemary. The most unique drink I've ever tasted! I also had the mussels in smoked tomato broth. Everyone at our table gobbled up their food. Very sweet waitress. We came close to closing but didn't feel rushed. Food came out very quickly even though they were busy. The decor was very simple but unique. Bathrooms very clean. Would definitely visit again when in Louisville!

Robert Hamilton

Eat the brisket! The chip appetizer is huge.

Joe Woods

Really tasty catfish po boy. Their house made hot sauce is delicious but not too spicy

Ruth LaToison Ifill

This food is mediocre at best. Not sure why the hostess at our hotel recommended it. The pulled pork was bland; I didn't even know that was possible. Service was lack luster. My friend's vodka tonic came with tons of small half melted ice cubes. The ribs were the best thing we had though none of the food came out warm. That ain't southern mac and cheese either... My girl said this was a waste of calories.

Bären Ritzenthaler

An amazing restaurant with a great selection that really does represent Louisville. The Ouster Rockefeller appitizer was a little small though.

Nathan Endress

Food was good but nothing out of the ordinary. For the price I was expecting more.

Jeff Shears

Shrimp and grits were good in addition to the smoked shrimp appitizer

Genie C

Clean, food was good, service was good, portions were very small and way overpriced.

Melinda Shupinsky

The steak was so tender with great flavors waitress was very nice.

Ethan Freimark

Snazzy eatery! Had a great time during family day from Advanced Camp at Ft. Knox. Some of the best ribs I've had and even better service! If I find myself in Kentucky again, this will be an absolute must!

Stetson C

Great wings! Amazing location in downtown Louisville to enjoy great food.

Kevin Kosek

Fun atmosphere and phenomenal drinks. The bartenders are quick, friendly and exceptional; my barkeep made off menu drinks to my taste and they were amazing.

Jonathan Holloway

AmaZing food. Great beer. Great bourbon and great service

Mary McVicker

Great food, and atmosphere! Amazing list of whiskey and bourbons!

Doberman Knight Reviews

Food was tasty and service was good. great cheese cake only thing bad was i got food poisoning from one of the raw oysters , but thats the chance you take eating raw shellfish.

Tashonna Hennig

First time going last night, and let’s just say it was a wonderful experience. Nice and knowledgeable bartender. The food was AMAZING and we even ordered Togo!! They were out of baked potatoes but the Mac n cheese was

Rob Wood

I'm sure some people will enjoy it. It wasn't my thing. Food was too spicy [I had the roasted chicken and the smoked shrimp] the macaroni and cheese was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice. It looked like they had a nice selection of fresh oysters but I don't eat them raw and the oysters Rockefeller that I did share were pretty small but were tender. Overall not bad but there are better southern food and BBQ selections to be found in the area

Joshua Hart

Their food is some of my favorite in Louisville. They have great ribs, fried green tomatoes and brisket tacos. If that's not enough, they gave one of the biggest and most complete bourbon lists in Kentucky.

Trudy Paparone

Great food. Service was good. Creative drinks.

jeff stauffer

Quite busy tonight. Very uncomfortably hot in here. Good was good. Service was good. Just very hot. And loud.

Renee West

I ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy and got the Cheddar grits on the side. All I can say is that I'm so happy we stopped in.

T W

I haven't been this impressed with food in while. Their crab cakes seemed small at first but they were so filled with crab that 2 cakes made me feel full. The pickled green beans that come with it were a shocker! Spicy, crunchy, and downright good! I also ordered a loaded potato but I'm too full to eat it. I am going back for more crab cakes everyday before I go back to SC. Best crab cakes EVER! So I went back to the potato and in one word it was meh. I've had better. The potato seemed like it was leftover from another meal - something was off about it. The brisket was not my favorite but the toppings and bbq sauce rocked. I'd go back for the crab cakes, no matter how small they are but no more potatoes for me. Overall I had great service and loved most of my food so still 5 stars.

Raymond Berrios

Great food n wonderful southern hospitality. O bourbon, lots of bourbon.

Annamae Kellogg

The food was great the portions were very hefty....the service was even better and the price was reasonable....can't wait to go back there!!!!!

Jasmine Johnson

The oyster rockefeller was ok. I've had better, but not in this state. The crab cakes were small and not lump crab meat like they state in their menu. But, they were cooked right. The bone in spare rib was and is the best dish there. The spare rib was so tender you didn't need a knife to cut it. It was seasoned right and the bbq sauce on the side was perfect! Will come back, just not for the seafood.

Randy Goodman

Always amazing food and great service

Eddie Johnson

My first time eating at Doc Crows. The food was delicious. We didn't have to wait too long before being seated. Our waiter was very polite and gave outstanding customer service. I tasted a piece of their apple pie. It was delicious!

Clay Johnston

Fantastic service. The waitress even overheard my wife mention she was excited to try the derby pie! So she had it ready to bring out even before we ordered. Super attentive and polite. The food was amazing! My wife and I split the sampler and it was perfect. I did order the Mac n cheese as a side. It was fair, I believe they put some sweet onions or some other cheeses that made it have an off taste for me. The BBQ sauce was good and I highly recommend the hot BBQ sauce! The beef brisket was fall apart tender. Most definitely coming back here!

Seohyun Claire Wong

Nice smoked bbq (especially the rib. Brisket and pulled port were just mediocre). The house beer was so good. Liked the fried okra and nachos. The service was slow. It's good overall.

Zeyad Alfred

This place was super busy, this Samich i had was called the bubba, our waitress Janell was great and so was the food

Brad Vo

I was looking to sample some harder-to-find bourbons but was very disappointed. This place has an very extensive list/menu of bourbons including some of the hardest to find (buffalo trace antique editions, pappy, Elmer T Lee, E H Taylor, Rock Hill farm, Weller, blanton). None of those are available and majority bourbon on the menu is not available. The menu did states that some of these might not be available depends on season. Staffs are very nice and informed of such fact. I then check out the bar and I would approximate >60 -70% of the listed bourbon in the menu is not available. Actually, their selection of available bourbon is so limited that I wouldn't classified it as a bourbon bar. They do have Old Forrester Birthday bourbon, a taste of the 2015 will set you back $35. Be sure to ask for price before ordering because the prices listed on the menu is not accurate. The bartender is nice and informative. Come here for food but don't expect much when it come to bourbon.

Phyllis Williams

We ordered catfish, roasted chicken, greens, coleslaw and baked potato. The food was delicious. However, do not order the bread pudding. It's disgusting. It taste like milk poured over bread. Mushy and tasteless! We ordered our meal to go. We ordered 2 sides of greens, but we got home with 1 order of greens and 1 order of green beans. And we gave them $14 for horrible bread pudding that we through away. But the food was delicious!

Kahlia Evans

Amazing Service, Food and drinks! Ambience was nice would've like to have been seated closer to the front not so close to kitchen. All and all the food was amazing, the servers were very attentive. Will definitely return!

ibemario472

I had time to eat at one place while in Louisville, and I'm glad I chose this one. Fantastic food and amazing bourbon.

Elizabeth Jones

Visited last week with a group from work, and we all very much enjoyed our lunch. Our servers were very attentive, and all the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the tomato vinaigrette they served with our salad.

Eric Harper

Went here under several people's recommendations, totally worth it! The food was really good and came out very fast. Our server was great and very knowledgeable. I ate at two other barbeque places while I was in town and this was my favorite. The restaurant has a unique decor and feel. I recommend it and would definitely go back!

Craig Nazareth

Food was good, atmosphere with nice, and they have lots of bourbons

Marianne Huff

First time visiting! Great food...Shrimp PoBoy w/Cheddar Grits and Fried Pork Chop w/Gravy...delish

Brandon Marrs

Shrimp and grits are amazing. Great cocktails too!

Jewell Lee

Had a birthday dinner there and it was horrible. Our waitress sucked and food came out late and cold. Had to get kitchen runners to order our drinks and the gratuity was automatically applied to everyone's ticket which was undeserving of our service. I will never go to Doc Crows again.

Trevor Garner

It's ok BBQ. Got the Sampler Platter to try the meats they offered. The pork and ribs were both dryer than I'd like. The brisket was good, not great. Being from Western Kentucky, I have high standards for BBQ, and for a place that says they have the best bbq, they need to revisit their smoking procedure. Oysters were fresh. Enjoyed a couple of those.

Alessandra Camargo

Great restaurant! Authentic Kentucky cuisine! Everything was delicious, service was great! A little pricey but worth it. There was quite a wait, it’s always busy. Easy to find, huge location with lots of tables and was very clean. Would definitely return.

Rocco McDaniel

The waitress was nice and friendly fast Speedy service food was delicious

William Babij

Food here was crazy good. One of the best barbecue places around. I recommend this one!

Paul Pecoraro

Went here for lunch. Service was great. Food was good. I had the brisket, greens and Mac and cheese. The brisket was good, nice smoke flavor, tender, good flavor. The greens were collard greens and kale, and I liked them. The mac and cheese on the other hand I didn't care for. The bourbon menu was great, and I enjoyed a good knob creek 9 year old single barrel beverage.

Zach Shartiag

Amazing BBQ and whiskey selection! Brisket was very solid. Highly recommend

Donnice Smith

Atmosphere is lax, well rounded staff, mega drink choice. I got the salmon with spinach and dressing... The flavor hit taste buds I didn't know I had. I'll be back

MoveMonkey

Amazing seafood and bourbon. I didn't realize there were so many types until I came here. Great atmosphere and not too far from 4th Street either for more partying!

Todd Longfield

Great service. Food was awesome. Had the sampler platter. Actually shared it. It was wonderful

Chandra Wickersham

Really Nice ! Pricey, but laid back vibes. Seems to be popular spot. Good food. Was out of a alcohol selections. Service was prompt and polite.

derek gill

Food was amazing! Ribbs fell off the bones and the bread pudding was better than my grandma's. I won't tell her that though.

bigkid forever

On our first visit to this part of town in Louisville , we were clueless and didn't know what to try . I looked up best barbecue and Burbon near me , then Doc Crows came up so we decided to give it a try . My only reason for giving this good restaurant a 4 star is because we had a server who was not having such a great day which I can understand .Different servers start to bring us our food (which all had attitudes ),i couldn't comprehend exactly what was going on . Anyway, we had these amazing chips with a savory cheese spread I think it had pimento and green onions . Then my husband and I shared the baby back ribs (half rack ) they were smoked and so tender. We didn't have complaints about our meals at all, we almost wished we had gotten more smoked meat to take home with us . My husband was curious about ordering smoked to bring home with us. If you're over by the Yum center be sure to try Doc Crows for lunch or dinner , it is worth the money and saving your appetite .

Tam Tam

Food was good. I got the shrimp & grits (it's huge portion), my friend got a Po Boy. Server could have been better. Nice charm. The area is historic but not the restaurant.

Sohyun Park

Great baby back ribs and salad. Service was great as well.

Kevin Flick

They never disappoint, courteous staff, great service, excellent food.

Chantal Hernandez

Great service, delicious BBQ and cocktails,

Cory Brumleve

Great food and service. Slightly upscale BBQ place. Great food and extension bourbon selection naturally. We heard there was usually a wait but Friday lunch was great.

Andrew Pendragon

Great food and a great atmosphere. This a great example of what Louisville cuisine has to offer! One of the best BBQ stops in the state.

Jamin Bailey

Truly an outstanding experience. Great atmosphere, nice selection of food, drinks, and deserts. The brisket was the best I have had. Period. So tender and seasoned to perfection! The service was quick and friendly. When my wife had a small issue with her dish, a manager came right over to make it right. A perfect date spot well suited for any social event.

Dale Gearke

Smoked meats are all good. Efficient and friendly staff.

Lisa Musch

Food was PHENOMENAL. However, July 17th, the heart of summer, and the A/C wasn't working. ;( Windows and doors shut tight...it was hot one!

JC Yakubowski

Food was great! Building and atmosphere really neat. Quick and attentive staff as well.

Brien Sims

Fantastic bbq chicken. The hush puppies are pretty good too. Definitely worth a trip to downtown Louisville. Staff were friendly and regularly checked on our needs too.

John Dwyer

Great little barbecue spot in Louisville. Superfresh and plentiful food. Great service especially for a very large and busy restaurant. The waitress was knowledgeable and make great suggestions. Fun atmosphere, definitely stop here while you're in Louisville

Robert Turner

Food was good. Really crowded when I went but I was seated fairly quickly.

Kath Chelminiak

Fairly unimpressed with our experience at this establishment. Went in for dinner on a Wednesday around 7pm. There was a wait, which was okay, due to being there after viewing the bourbon list and being impressed with the selection. We are finally seated, and the waitress comes to greet us and get drink orders. We ordered one high end bourbon (around $50 for a pour)— didn’t have it. We chose another high end bourbon— also out. We finally went with our third choice and the waitress responded almost rudely that “we don’t have any of those” almost irritated that we were asking about items that were ON the menu (nothing indicated that they were out anywhere). Fairly unprofessional in my opinion. The remainder of the service during this visit was also not great- consistently felt like we were unwelcome guests. Food was ok— got the crab cakes and not super impressed. Very small for the price. My husband got the burger and fries and said it was good, so perhaps choose this if you go. Likely wouldn’t go back due to the lack of an updated bourbon list and have had better food elsewhere in Louisville.

Patricia Dew

Slow service despite not being overly busy. No substitutions were allowed on the combo platter. The lemonade mint julep was tasty if expensive. Smoked chicken was good - tender and moist - but I can get the same meal for less money elsewhere. The sweet potato fries were great despite the $4 price tag: seasoned with just salt, no sugar.

Ronnie Morton

Pork rinds are awesome! Pretty good oyster selection as well.

Michael Agee

Perfectly adequate barbeque. Nothing out of this world but a definite upgrade over the Shane's Rib Shacks of the world.

Tara Casanova

Great food. Good service

Shaira Manning

My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed both the food and atmosphere. The people were great the food was amazing and you get huge portions, definitely will revisit!!

Gav Hale

Great food, beer and service! The brisket was top notch as were the cheese grits. Heartily recommend!

Hiram Novelo

I’m from Mexico City, currently visiting Louisville. A friend that lives here brought me on Sunday, ordered the brisket sandwich and added pepper jack. Wow, I can honestly say this is on my top 5 of sandwiches. And this comes from someone who’s been to 4 continents, I love to travel and eating the local foods is my favorite thing to do when out. I don’t like pickles or raw onion so it was basically just the bread with meat and the cheese and still fabulous. It had the perfect ratio of meat to fat. The bbq and hot sauces were great additions too and the chips were pretty good. Fair prices and good service as well, I would return in a heartbeat. Wish I had a pic to post but it all went down so quick!

catherine wright

I went because of the reviews about oysters... there were 3 different types, but they were all delicious. Followed up with a sampler platter and a selection of sides. Everything was perfect. The meat was tender, the sauce tangy, and beer super cold. The bartender was helpful in selecting a bourbon from the overwhelming list, and made suggestions regarding places to visit during our stay through the weekend. The restaurant was packed when we came in at 7.. reservations are recommended, but we were lucky with a few bar seats. Not a disappointment.

Joy Dutra

Excellent service, delicious barbeque food! We each ordered different barbeque meals, So many outstanding choices on the menu. A definite must when you visit Louisville!

Michael Jones

Very good food price point was good too.

Eric Nichols

Doc’s is amazing. Huge whiskey list, delicious food (including oysters), and reasonable prices for the quality and quantity. Hit it almost every time I’m in Louisville!

Chasitey Hayes

Service was amazing, our waiter was the best. Food is great and has a wonderful bourbon selection. Would highly recommend eating there.

Jeremiah Austin

Great food. It's always busy when we try it, but they get us in quickly, because the place is large. I still haven't seen the back, bur it's long and skinny so it feels quaint. Great spot for a date night. Reasonable prices, great food and drinks.

Jeremy Swinford

Oh my goodness. Because I smoke my own meat, I am very picky about my BBQ. But, this place rocked my socks. The drinks were dynamite. The food was heavenly. I would make the few hour drive again for another plate of their pulled pork nachos. Place was packed, which I cant see why it wouldnt be, but be prepared to wait a while during peak times. Go and go again people! I'd give it 6 stars if Google would let me!

James Bartran

It would be 5 stars but as standard there aren't enough servers per customer and the dining experience will last 3 hours when it only needs to be 2. Food is fantastic but don't go in here if you're in a hurry.

Tom Miller

Oysters on the half shell. The service was the best. We will go back!!

Larry Rarus

Great drinks, atmosphere and wait staff. The food was OK but nothing to write home about.

Tamara Armstrong

Food was outstanding and service even better! Craft beer, portabello and fried green tomato sandwich with sweet potato fries! Would absolutely go back!

Valerie Pennington

Food was very good and the service was great.

duong nguyen

Very good shrimp and grits. Also good desserts. Excellent waitress.

Andrew Marley

Excellent southern comfort food! A must try.

garrett armstrong

Place was really good, the Fried Chicken Travis's your were awesome and the Garlic Parmesan fries were awesome. The server was attentive. The only thing we the cocktail I got was poorly be but other than that the food was great

j ed

Pretty good BBQ. Dry-rub seasoning could have more flavor

Mike Panfile

Food was great I got the pulled bbq Prices were good Their knowledge of bourbon was top notch

Stopped in for lunch. Oysters Rockefeller was rich and tasty. The tacos were great. Brisket was definitely better than the pork, which still did not disappoint. Surprise surprise, plenty of whiskey options at the bar.

Decided to stop here on our way through Louisville and my whole group was glad we did. I got the fried shrimp po-boy and it was awesome. Great bread, nicely fried shrimp, delicious sauce on the whole thing. The house made chips were very good, I would only say I wish they were warmer. Could tell they made em in the morning and they just sat until ready, but not a big deal. I had a classic mint julep which was thankfully made very well. I'd stop back if given the opportunity.

The pork tenderloin sandwich is excellent. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual in a southern way. I'll be back.

The food here was excellent! I had the fried pork chops with mashed potatoes and sausage gravy and it was one of my favorite meals I have ever had. Highly recommend making a reservation - the waiting area is TINY and there is almost always a wait. I liked the house salad, it was different and came with smoked tomato vinaigrette which was good. Our waitress wasn’t overly friendly, but she kept our drinks refilled and checked on us consistently.

Good meat. Mac and cheese and baked beans not so tasty. Really good pickles. BBQ sauce slightly spice. Waiter was not so good. Would recommend for some one who likes sweet and medium spice, with a trendy atmosphere.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants in Louisville for quite some time. Went last night and wasn't as pleased with the food or service as I had been in the past. I hope this is a one off situation. Fried pork chops are incredible,

Barbecue and Bourbon !!! Bourbon, Beers and great food !! One of my personal favourites now in Louisville!! Right in the Bourbon District of Downtown Louisville KY, I found this awesome BBQ joint. Doc Crow's is a fantastic place, great food, great bourbon, great local craft beer and great service!! For this visit I decided on the BBQ platter with BBQChicken, PulledPork, Brisket and a side of SouthernSlaw !! The portions were a perfect size as many BBQ placed love to pile meat on your plate, and I sometimes have a hard time finishing my meal. Every component of the meal, the Chicken, for example, was very delicately smoked as to not to dry on the inside and too full of smoke flavour. I love the homemade sauce they use for the Pulled Pork, and the brisket was slow cooked and tender all the way through!! What I really liked about Doc Crow's was the service. Joe my server guided me through the menus, the Beer list, the Bourbon menu and the food menu. If your ever at Doc Crow's, stop in and ask for Joe!! He’ll take good care of you!!

This place has great food and the atmosphere was great. It is children friendly and the staff are very friendly as well. My husband ordered the grits and he loves them. We also had cocktails which were at a reasonable price.

Highly recommended. Bourbon for every price and taste. Old forester birthday bottle is the select bourbon from the distillery next door. Can't go wrong but, bring your wallet. Dry ribs were fall off the bone perfect.

Food, service and coctails were all amazing. A must in Louisville!!!
