This Restaurant is included in the category of Korean restaurant.
I live here in Louisville, and admittedly have very high expectations. This restaurant SURPASSES ALL EXPECTATIONS. This is, without question, the best Korean food we have ever eaten. The kimchi is unbelievable. Life-changing. We met the chef, and learned that she makes EVERYTHING from scratch. She puts everything into everything she serves her patrons. You can TASTE the freshness. You can taste the quality. You can taste the love. This is our new favorite restaurant. I cannot say enough good things. This is one of the best restaurants in Louisville, no question, and we have truly tried them all. ❤️
Excellent food, pleasant service, good atmosphere. We very much enjoyed eating there and will be back. We took it as a good sign that a large percentage of the patrons were Korean also...... The food must be authentic!
Really enjoyed the food here. Had the Hot Stone Bibimbap wth chicken and beef bulgogi, Mung bean cake, and fried tofu. All were delicious, but particularly enjoyed the bibimbap and mung bean cake. The bibimbap was nicely charred on the bottom. Try the corn and barley tea. As a bonus they use the purple rice if you order brown rice... It's beautiful and delicious!
Great food, great service. Very friendly, clean, and has a comfortable atmosphere. I eat here often!
Great service, great food. Fried wontons and fried tofu
We ordered a braised mackerel dish. It was well cooked but had too much sauce that drowned the taste of the fish. Overall, great service but overpriced by about 30%. Try out the other Korean restaurants in town.
Great food but a little bit pricey
Love the food. I go back again
I really enjoy the food here. I do think it's a little understaffed. The service experience could be better. It would be a 5 star experience if the service was made a little better.
As a Korean, not good great Korean food
Your taste buds will be attacked by dynamic flavors--you will welcome this.
We had Bulgogi and Hot Stone Bibim Bab it was wonderful. I've never had Korean food and I was very impressed.
This is some excellent food. Very quiet at 2pm on a Tuesday; the place was empty and the service was great! They were about to close, but welcomed me warmly. Most importantly, the food is perfect! I've only had Korean food a few times now. This is by far the best I've had. Don't let me oversell it - you will enjoy your food here. I had the fried dumplings and the stone bowl bibim bap with beef. The fried dumplings were VERY hot (temperature) and crispy. Dipping sauce was delectable. The bibim bap was excellent quality and came with a variety of small side dishes. Each side dish was different and wonderful on its own (aside from the soup which was just your standard Miso soup - I know that's usually a Japanese soup, but that's what it tasted like). The little side dish that was made from peanuts (top right in my photo) was so very good. Think of Florida's boiled peanuts, and add a sticky, asian flavor. I can't wait to come back. Thank you, thank you.
Very very very delicious food!! Great, friendly and courteous service. And the food came out fast and the server helped us wrap up our soup to go!

I loved the Bibim Bap!
Fantastic real Korean food
Disgusting food and fruit flies all over the place! Ugh
Great dating spot for the night. Charming environment and friendly service. The food taste great of course!
Best Korean in Louisville.
Excellent food, excellent service.. well worth the 50 mile drive to eat here!!!
Pretty good bibimbap
I love their roundup chive
The food was great but the amount of time it took to get the check was very long. Not a huge issue though.
Kids ordered Ramen and it’s made from instant noodle! Ridiculous! Other items are about the average. Service is fine.
Very good food ang very good service
Great food. One of my go-to restaurants.
Had the chicken bibimbap today and it was excellent. The kimchi is outstanding! Always love coming to this restaurant.
Awesome dinner,great service, good prices
Authentic and friendly with many delicious choices
Romantic atmosphere, perfect experience for a Korean food first timer. Very friendly staff! Food was great, stone bowl sizzled the entire meal, it was amazing. We were there for nearly an hour just enjoying everything and that stone bowl was still lightly sizzling. SO GREAT.
Great speedy service and one of the most delicious meals I've ever eaten. More than ample enough portions to fill you up. We will be back!
Great customer service and great food. I will be going back!
Delicious, authentic Korean meal
Balls out the best Korean in Louisville.
Great food. All of the dishes were extremely flavorful and prepared excellently. The server was knowledgable and attentive. We will go back!
Great little Korean restaurant. Best Bibimbap in town! Excellent service. Tons of flavor. I'll be back!
Love everything about this place except maybe the wait for the food. Since everything is freshly made it takes more time to get your dishes out. Im not complaining because it comes out perfectly prepared.
Very flavorful food, attentive service, and excellent kimchi. A little expensive for lunch.
Good Korean food, tucked away in a strip mall.
The food is delicious, and authentic.
An cozy place with a tasty selection of Korean meals. Great appetizer selection. Would definitely bring a date here.
Delicious food, good service and nice environment
Fantastic food, super friendly service, food came out fast. The Jap-chae noodles were my favorite, the chicken bulgogi was another favorite.
Nice place, people and great Korean food.
This place is great. Went with friends and then took my wife a couple weeks later for date night. Everything we had was fantastic and the service was excellent. Definitely recommend going. And yes, I know it's a Korean restaurant and wings isn't what you first think of, but the wings are great!
Best place for good food
Authentic Korean food, not some "fusion". Excellent food and atmosphere. Ordered the Chicken Bulgogi and it was fantastic. I'll be back for the hot bowl bibimbap!
YES !!! delicious Korean Food here!! We had Pajeon for Appetizers!!! OhEmmGee so Good !!! And Bibimbob !!! Bulgigi !!! Mandu soup !!! So perfect ×100%
Interesting little place tucked away in St Matthews. This place is easily forgotten and not that easy to find if your not looking for it. If you enjoy Korean food it’s ok. It used to be much better. If you come with a group of people this place can be a lot of fun. Nothing really stood out enough to recommend. Service is very friendly.
Delicious Korean food!
Our first Korean experience -- Charim serves up delicious and unique food, with large portions -- loved this place!
Great
루이빌 한식집
In KY on a business trip from CA/AZ: At first I was skeptical that a small suite could serve good food, especially in Kentucky. As soon as I entered it reminded me of so many places I've been to in LA's K-town. The place is clean and fairly spacious. Authentic korean food, just like LA. This place isn't a grill your own; they grill the meat in the kitchen. Everyone on the reviews talk about how good the Chicken Bulgogi is, but I had to try out one of my favorite dishes and a traditional summer dish. The Pajeun or thick pancake was good, but it still had small shrimp tails on it :/ I ate through it like my father taught me. The cold buckwheat noodles were great! Chewy with lots of flavor in the broth. It wasn't served drowned out in ice. I was eating alone but they still served me a lot of delicious Ban-chan, or side dishes. Extra points: had a photo of Chef Ed Lee with the owner. The waitress was cute and smiled a lot. I'll be back to try out the BBQ and stews.
Love this place

Excellent authentic Korean food in a relaxing environment.
Fantastic flavor. Staff was attentive and helpful. Bulgogi was delicious! Will definitely be back for more authentic Korean cuisine!
Great food and service.
A new experience My first visit will not be my last The pairings of seasonings were surprising, yet delectable Attentive waiters Clean, calm environment
Great dumplings and beef bulgogi. Very friendly staff.
Best Korean restaurant in Louisville! Pretty authentic menu. Highly recommend the hot pot bibimbop and bulgogi. I love this place!!
Three of our group ordered bibum bap. We were disappointed that it only had 6X as much sesame oil as was necessary. When we spoke to manager. she told us how great it was and referred to their excellent reviews and suggested that adding hot sauce would help. When I declined, she picked up the hot sauce bottle and offered her assistance in adding it, since that would clearly have made it delicious. This was hands-down the worst meal I have ever attempted to eat in my life. I immediately shoved Rolaids in my mouth in the car, and yet I still can taste the overwhelming amount of sesame oil and other strage flavors. I have never posted a negative restaurant review. however I am compelled to warn others as a public service. Have I made it clear that this was a horrible (and expensive) meal? I want to be sure that l have made those points absolutely clear.
It's legitimate Korean food. Everything from the ingredients to the prep. Just felt like the dishes were either slightly under seasoned or over seasoned. The beans sprouts were salty to the point where I couldn't even taste the natural sweetness anymore while the radish kimchee had little flavor. I guess this is all relative but it just seemed a bit off. With that being said though, the food is good overall. The only reason I would know is because I have a lot of Korean friends.
I was always told to try BBQ so I picked this place to try it. And I'm afraid it may have actually ruined other places, it was absolutely fantastic. The Chicken Bulgogi fed me for three meals, and spicy.
The best Korean restaurant in town! Delicious food, clean interior, great service. I've been here over 30 times, and I have been satisfied every time!
This place is AMAZING. Some friends and I went this past Saturday and we loved it so much we went back today. There's not another place in Louisville with more authentic and delicious Korean cuisine. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful; excellent service. No matter what you order, it will have your tastebuds singing for more. If you're looking for suggestions, you should definitely consider the chicken or grilled (beef) bulgogi. I have yet to try more than one of their soups, but I will definitely be visiting Charim often in the future to get my Korean food fix. :)
Great food, Great Staff. Authentic Korean Food. I have eaten in Korea and this is as good as it gets!
One word ... Prejudice... Travel all the way home to KY to have some of their Charim wings ... Fist time we ordered them .. We didn't know the name of them so we called them hot braised chicken wings ... Confirmed it with the girl several times and she said she new what i was talking about ... Got there and was given hot wings... Decided to get over it ... Went back the next day ordered specifically the Charim wings ... Was told 15 min ... Got there around 20 min later ... The whole restaraunt was filled with Caucasian customers and I stood at the podium for about ten minutes and watched as the server came in and out of the kitchen waiting on the customers and she saw me every time she came out . Another 10 min passed and she didn't even stop to say ur order will be up soon or have a seat we will be right with u ... Nothing. I even stood there and called the restaraunt from my mobile device and they still didn't come to the desk. I finally got mad and left. I called from my car and told her to cancel the order and told her how I had to wait and no one said anything. How disappointing to be so rudely treated... Thank heavens there is a place like ... Arriang on Popular level road that recognized a loyal customer after having left the state after 1 year and they remembered my whole family and were very kind. In this day and age prejudice is still very much alive.
Good place
여기는 좋네요 ^_^
Really good food!! They're friendly and make sure everything satisfy with food.
Everything is good and authentic! Yet my favorite is to get a Pajeon(seafood pancake) for an appetizer, a grilled bulgogi and a sundubu soup (soft tofu soup) to share for the entrees. They go very well together! Love the food, service and the modern interior.
My husband and I went here last night. Service was good. Edamame was the smallest portion I've ever seen or been served at any restaurant. Then came the sides with a side of a ton of nats. Then came our entrees with some more nats. Nats were everywhere and it was disgusting! My husband spent 10 minutes smacking nats. We got to go boxes and left. We will not be back!
It is amazing. Go, feast, delight in it. Bim bap, bulgogi, seafood pancake, it's all good. Great service to boot.
Awwwww, yeeeeeah--Korean food! We don't have many Korean places in Louisville for some reason. Lots of Thai, Chinese, and Japanese. But very few Korean places. We went to Toronto this past summer and they have not ONE but TWO Koreatowns. You can't walk five feet without tripping over a Korean restaurant. In Louisville, however, you should check this place out.
This is one of my favorite restaurants, which says a lot, since there are so many excellent choices in Louisville! I have never been disappointed. The food tastes authentic, from what I remember during my short stay in Korea. My son and I love coming here. The waitresses are very nice, too. It's a little pricey, but I never regret it!
Great food!
Came here for 1 year now and the food was always good, splendid service, nice employees and incredible food. Would recommend
Quite possibly the best vegetarian dish in the city is their hot stone bibimbap.
Best Korean food.
Rrally good bibimbap, service, and appetizers.
Absolutely delicious. No complaints, I highly recommend the Kal bi
Excellent Korean food. Great atmosphere
The best mandus ever!!! Their cooking is clean and detail-oriented.
I eat here all the time and regularly order Sundubu Jigae (tofu soup). I love the atmosphere, it's never too loud and the food is exceptional. The staff is sweet and attentive. The chef has come out to greet and check on me a few times during my plethora of visits. I hope Charim remains extremely successful because I love eating here. - Jonathan Burton
Great Korean food. Only complaints are that they could offer a few more banchans and the korean BBQ you cool at the table. Nice spot for lunch though and a great place to take friends to introduce them to Korean food.
Don't eat the beef bulgogi. I got food poisoning for a week. The prices are double what they're worth paying for anyway. If you want decent Korean food, go to any Army base. Guaranteed to have better food for half the price ($8 per meal instead of $15-16).
One of the best Korean restaurants I have visited. Friendly. Great service and food.
The food was awesome, but my spicy pork needed a little more flavor. But all the side dishes were very delicious, the rice was perfect. The restaurant is very clean and warm.
Best customer service. The chef and owner of the restaurant came out to speak to the guests. Soft tofu soup is the best and comparable to other Korean restaurants in Atlanta and New York.
Good food but ridiculously long wait. I hate to give a bad review because the people were so nice, but it was an hour and fifteen minutes after we ordered that we got our food and our server did not check on us and refill our drinks very often during that time as well. Hopefully this was just a fluke.
Our favorite Korean food...great service and atmosphere as well!
Get the Charim wings!
My wife and I have eaten here 4 or 5 times and the food and service has been excellent every time. This is the best Korean restaurant in Kentucky if you ask me.
Way too expensive for the amount and quality of food you’re getting. I understand that you have to make money to run your business, but the prices are too high for what they are serving. If they had larger portions or if they were focusing on a bit more of a fine dining audience, then I would understand. If the chefs cooking the food were highly skilled and creative and they were getting their produce from local sources, I would understand. But they’re doing none of those things, so I believe it’s time to find other ways to cut costs. This way they could bring the prices down a little bit so their customers will think it’s worth going there. I can make many of the same meals at home for a fourth of the price. There are several other Korean restaurants in town where I can get many of the same dishes with either lower prices, larger quantities, or both. They don’t even give you more than one round of banchan, even if you’re coming with a group of four people. You have to ask them for more, and they ask you “Which one?” !!!! The banchan should be a central part of the experience, especially if you have a group. Of course charge more for large amounts, but I shouldn’t have to beg for a second small bowl of kimchi. I won’t be returning here. There used to be Koreans eating whenever I went in the past, now there have not been any Asian customers whenever I’ve gone recently. I suspect management has changed.
Great service. Great authentic Korean food.
This is the best Korean restaurant in town! The bugogi is excellent!!!
Very nice atmosphere & the food was great!
Great Korean food.
Great Korean! Love the banchan and the wings!!
돌솥비빔밥. 파전 .콩국수 .한국음식 깔끔하고 맛있다. 주차장무료. 휠체어가능 . 식당 위치도 찿아가기 쉬웠다. 직원친절 즐거운 점심식사
Great food, great service! I will be back soon
It's very good~~~^^
We really enjoyed our visit to Charim. All of the food was delicious and they have kids options, which is a definite plus!
Great service and the food was amazing. Small place that is a little hidden away but has a charming vibe inside. Wings and pork were great.
Always have my food ready and are very nice wit their service
Clean, small place with friendly staff and a great menu. I bet anything on the menu is delicious.
Great food great staff great atmosphere
Awesome food... Extremely authentic and very delicious. Try the bulgogi.
My husband and I have been here twice and have enjoyed everything that we have tried. The Pajeon seafood pancake is HUGE, they are not kidding when they warn you that it is very filling. It is very good if you love seafood. The muscles, calamari, and shrimp are large pieces. The dipping sauce is so yummy!! My husband ordered the Bulgogi Ttukbaegi soup and LOVED it. I had the Beef Bulgogi which I enjoyed much better than the chicken bulgogi that I had ordered last time. It is SUPER spicy, just in case you aren't a "spicy food" person. I'm not sure if you can ask to have it toned down. The beef has a different sauce and is SO so yummy! We enjoyed everything. The unlimited sides that come with the meal are delicious as well. :) Highly recommend, Charim! We have also had the Chicken katsu and it's delicious. I will be back to try the kalbi ribs next time. Can't wait!
I've eaten at Korean places all over the country & this one is by far in my top 5. The owner comes out & says hello to us every time we go. She is friendly & it's a family business. Kid friendly environment. Cozy & welcoming. To go food so fast & easy. We moved last year but I can't wait to visit to say hello & eat up. Definitely a must try.
Delicious Korean food. Many good options.
Amazing Korean food. Try the Charm chicken wings and the seafood omelette on the appetizers menu. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Excellent authentic Korean dishes, large portions, vegetarian and vegan options. Simply delicious!
I go here often for the fantastic food and comfortable ambiance. Kimchi fried rice is delicious. Fish katsu is some of the best fried fish I've ever had. Appetizers are all spot on. Highly recommend!
Some of the best authentic Korean food you can find in town. This is my favorite spot for my wife and me to eat.
Both food and service excelled.
Fantastic Korean cuisine! The stone bowl, hot pot, and soups are delicious. You receive kimchi and many various Korean side dishes at your table that are all interesting and worth a try. The staff is nice. The atmosphere feels like a strip mall but don't let that stop you!
My favorite korean restaurant! Food is amazing!!! :)
The best Korean Food in the area!
Great Korean food. Excellent.
Generous helping of fermented and pickled sides with every meal.
5 Stars for the food! The atmosphere is lacking (think hair salon in strip mall converted to a restaurant). The food. is. awesome. Bulgogi is excellent.
Great food and the 90's music really gets you in the mood... for Korean food.
The menu is simple and good. The food tastes more like home cooking than at other restaurants because this place doesn't use MSG nor too much salt. I actually prefer this style of cooking plus this place uses quality ingredients. I had 5 different items on the menu in 2 visits and I actually ate them all and enjoyed it very much.
it's delicious
Great food and service and relaxing atmosphere.
Wonderful place to go..the chicken bulgogi and Charim wings are delicious. There are excellent options for both veggie and meat eaters!
Pleasant service, authentic flavors, classic strip-mall ambience. The spicy dishes are a little tame for my liking, but that may be by popular demand.
Admittedly, I am no expert on Korean food. But I like this place and I like their food. The staff is friendly, helpful if you have questions about the food, and very attentive. The atmosphere is serene and simple - actually very well done. We like to order from their appetizers. Some very interesting selections. Last visit we tried Mandu - deep fried dumplings, Nokdujeon - Mung bean pancake, and Deep Fried Tofu. Give Charim a try.
Great Korean food. Waitress was very helpful. Will return again. Wonderful place.
I’ve had better Korean food but this place will do if you are craving Korean in Louisville. The friendly staff is probably the main reason why I keep coming back. Food prices can be a little bit upscale for portions you get but taste good!
The food is excellent and the menu nicely varied! I have been to South Korea and was looking for the taste and quality I'd experienced while traveling there. I found it at Charim. The staff is friendly and, while not native English speakers, will work to help answer any questions you might have. I highly recommend the Seafood Pancake appetizer, any of the stone Bibimbap bowls and the Bulgogi soup ... though there isn't anything bad on the menu.
Great food and great service
Great service. Expect long wait due to tasty food is being prepared. To make the wait shorter, order beer and/or sake and insist that the appetizers are served immediately rather than with the meal. The food arrives steaming hot so be careful, but this is another feature I love to eat here. The food stays warm throughout the mealtime.
Great
Everything was wonderful except the soup I ordered was cold
Always a good signed when the place is packed with Koreans. Very friendly and very tasty. Highly recommend.
Always good...great service, authentic Korean. Love it. I go here every time I'm in Louisville.
Food always good quality, flavors fantastic!
Wonderful little korean restaurant. More sit down than some of the others in Louisville with complimentary traditional Korean appetizers. I was worried that my wife who isnt always open to different food, but she loved their bulgogi and Charim is her favorite asian restaurant
the food it amazing It's the best place in the world
Great food and great service. This small strip mall hidey-hole delivers a powerful punch of goodness. Those people who love Korean food love good kimchi and rarely find it, and this place has what you need! Try the radish, cucumber, or the regular kimchi and you will see how fun it is to "build your bibimbap" yourself. Even the barbecued peanuts they give you with the bibimbap are awesome. The tofu and kimchi appetizer is very delicious and filling. I can't wait to go back and attack the noodle soup part of the menu! If you are looking to be health conscious or gluten-free or vegetarian, this would also be a great choice for you!
Best Korean restaurant in Louisville, period.
