Stopped by the other day for a few beers and a snack. The place was half empty. The first sign things were going down hill was we waited a number of minutes just to be seated in a half empty pub. Put our order in and had to wait for both the beers and the pretzels. The next problem was trying to get another round of beer for the table. There were two people waiting tables and their biggest concerns appeared to be cleaning tables and not looking around at their tables. After so long, I asked the other wait person if I could get another round of beer. Her reply was I'll tell your waiter. Well I didn't think that would work and it didn't. A few more minutes went by and I mentioned to her I was still waiting on the beers. Can't tell you the look I got back from her. At last we got our beers. Now came the adventure to get out of this nightmare place. Yeah, it took several more minutes to get the attention of the waiter (at this point we were only one of two or three tables left in the place with customers). We got our check and waited for the waiter to come back to pick it up, but we gave up. Went up to the bar just to pay the check and leave. Two stars just because the beer was OK and the pretzels were good. They have no clue about customer service in my opinion. Update: 1/26/2019: My server was Jacob H, check 60, table 405 at 3:41 PM on 12/24/2018.

The food was very palatable! Dry rub wings, smoked brisket and turkey, chopped salad and a few other sides. I wasn't sure about the pickled celery but it was very tasty! Prices are a little high since sides are separate but you get what you pay for...I will be back!

Really good beer and good food right by Downtown inside the Louisville Slugger Stadium. Lots of friendly people around. Seems like it would be a great spot to hit while baseball season is going on. I recommend the smoked beer for something tasty that you don't see every day.

Fantastic place right at the Cardinals baseball stadium. They have the Angel's Envy flight that includes the Rye. Our waiter was on point with helpful bourbon info and details on the bbq and local happenings. Definitely recommend this place as a great option for bourbon flights, bbq, and an all around good time.

First time there, had the Dirty Burger with bacon and it was perfect. I reflexively asked for barbecue sauce because I like a saucy burger, and was pleasantly surprised to not really need it. Good service, really cool place, a perfectly-sized food menu, and I love that you can see the operation from the dining area. Also I love shredded lettuce. A dying breed, those fine establishments that use shrettuce.

Not the cheapest food, but honestly worth the price in terms of quality, taste, and portion size. Always friendly server staff. Even the food runners pay attention to any need you have. A really relaxed place to hangout with friends over some food and drinks with cool art work and vibe.

Love the beer! Had a flight sampler, usually a safe bet as I can find one or two I like, LOVED THEM ALL! Tried the tropical ipa , we heavy barrel aged, a boch and cannot remember type of last one but they were all fantastic and true to their styles.

Food is fantastic and the beer is always good. They rotate through many different and interesting brews so you really don't get to have a favorite. Just try all the different options that are on tap today. There is a limit on seating so it can be crowded (especially in the winter when the outdoor seating isn't available). It can also be loud if you're looking for somewhere to have a conversation.

First time here. The pilsner was good. A lot of smoked beers which I'm not a fan of. They actually sell CBD to put into your drinks... not sure if that's legit or controlled? Foods okay.. asked the people around me what they thought of the food and they agreed it's good for bar food that's about it

Against the Grain brewery was the best silver lining in an otherwise horrible weekend. My husband and I were travelling home from a funeral in Missouri. My husband discovered that the brewery, which happens to make his favorite beer (35k) was on our way home, so we decided to stop for dinner. We had Pork Belly on a Stick, Barbecued Pork Belly, Smoked Brisket, and the Mac and Cheese. The food was all beyond any expectation that could have been had. What truly made the experience worth while was the amazing service. Our waiter provided without a doubt the best restaurant experience we have ever had. He walked us through the different beer selections, and was up-front and honest when my husband ordered a 35k to drink (the batch, while not bad, was off in flavor and not what it usually tasted like). He brought out several samples and made a variety of recommendations based off of what my husband was looking for, until he found the perfect one. He also worked to help me find the perfect beverage (I usually go with dry ciders and fruity sours): a cherry lambic. After making dinner drink recommendations, he highlighted what beets could be purchased to take home with us, which we promptly took him up on since we can't find a distributor in our area. I would highly recommend Against the Grain to anyone, and truly wished it were located closer to home.

Good beer, good BBQ. What else do you need? Ate here on a Friday night. Dining atmosphere is a little noisy but plays good music. Wait staff was attentive and helpful with the menu. We did the Pit Experience and got to try 5 meats and 5 sides. No complaints with any of those. Gotta say, the ribs here are by far THE BEST of all their smoked meats. Would come back and would recommend!

Absolutely tremendous! My friends and I came to town for a fun weekend and this was the first place we stopped. The soft pretzel was the best one I've ever had! Everyone LOVED their entrees and sides. Great beer selection. Our server was awesome. I wish we would have had time to eat there again. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in town. It gets my highest recommendation!

The bar is integrated into a stadium. It's got a small amount of seating and a bar. The drinks are moderately priced and the food looked good. My score isn't higher because the bar tender a accidentally put someone else drink on my tab.

Best beer in Louisville hands down! Best beer I’ve had in the US, and even Europe! If you’re looking for a great craft beer, look no further. And if you’re looking for a beer and some food, THIS is your place. Absolutely fantastic kitchen, and 10/10 serving staff. One of the best spots in Louisville! You will not be disappointed. For the Vegans, the “Dirty Vegan” is unbelievable. And my fiancée said the “Dirty Burger” is one of the best burgers she has ever had. If you’re visiting, you HAVE to stop here. If you live in Louisville and haven’t been here, what’re you doing with your life?! Very rarely do I stop somewhere and go “This is the best I’ve ever had”, this is definitely one of those places. 6/5 stars!

Best BBQ you can buy from a restaurant! Yes, the best! I have been smoking meats for the better part of 2 decades and frequently seek out BBQ joints to check out. I came to this place and immediately lowered my expectations as soon as I saw it was part of a baseball stadium. I almost didn’t go in but I felt that my research lead me here and that I owed it a fair chance. The service was impeccable. Not over the top (by any means) but knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help with any requests. The beers? Every single beer my wife or I tried was a great example of what it was supposed to be! We visit breweries regularly and it is very rare to find one that does such a good job across the board! The BBQ?!?! The absolute best BBQ I have ever had from a restaurant! I had the brisket and it was as good of brisket as I do at home! I was blown away and the flavors and attention to detail. The pitmaster is a purist and truly knows their stuff (my hat is off to you). They actually make their own sausages daily as well. You simply cannot go wrong with any of their food. Don’t let the location scare you off. These people truly love their craft and it shows! I cannot wait to return!

This restaurant has an awesome vibe, with funky art and a wide array of craft beers plus homemade beers. We we're pressed for time so we we're unable to experience the full menu and in house brew. I have made it the plan to return soon and embrace the full experience. What I did try was the smoked wings and pimento and pork skins! The dry rub flavor of the wings is like non other. You get a lot of pork skins but only an ounce of pimento cheese so it's gone after the third or fourth pork skin. The flavor is on point I just wish there was more cheese

first time here with family and was very impressed..would have given them 5 stars but my hubby said the men's bathroom was horribly disgusting...had he mentioned this before we left, I would have told a staff member. The spare ribs were tender and creamy Cole slaw was not sweet. The sauces bit the mark. I also enjoyed the beer sampler. The kettle and beer chips appetizer can feed four. I suggest integrating beer sampler in the board somehow as I forgot what was what. I will go back if in Louisville.

Unfortunately I was not impressed. I had the chopped pork and there was literally a puddle of grease in the bottom of the tray it was in and I found several small, hard pieces of bone or gristle or something in it (nothing like having to try to discreetly pick chewed food out of your mouth lol). My husband had the burger and said it was pretty good.

This place was really cool! The building itself had a really neat look inside. We had some appatizers and they were very tastey. The beer was awesome! They had several different ones to choose from. I really liked the 70K. If you are in Louisville, make sure to stop at Against the Grain Brewery, you will be happy that you did!!

They are getting 1 star because I can't give Zero stars. We stood at the hostess table for nearly 5 minutes before we were acknowledged. We went during brunch which was our first mistake. $12 for a burger with No sides. When we ordered our over-priced burgers we asked for 1 to be cooked well done and we were told they are all "smashed" so they all come well done. My wife's burger came out maybe "medium." Our server only checked on us once right when the food was delivered to our table. My wife did her best to eat any parts that were cooked close to well done as this was our anniversary meal and she wanted us to be able to eat together. My wife ate barely 1/3rd of her burger before we finished up and our server asked about our meal. When I told her it was much more pink than we asked for her reply was "sorry, there's no button we can push to cook them any more." So, they don't even use a real griddle to cook their burgers? There didn't seem to be anybody managing the restaurant so we paid our bill and left. Absolutely HORRENDOUS experience and we will never go back.

Such a cool brew pub in downtown Louisville by the baseball stadium. The brews had fun names and there was a good variety. Thr only catch is that they sell only their own beer, but there definitely is something for everyone. I loved the outdoor picnic seating as well - worked perfectly for our big group!

I'll be the first to say that I'm not really a beer drinker, but this place has certainly helped me try all sorts of beers. They have a rotating selection that changes fairly often, so there's always something new to try. Their beer art style isn't for everyone, but I think it's great. Their artist always has really imaginative and oftentimes funny can art. It's always a treat to see what the next design is going to be. I've heard great things about their food as well. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't experience their brisket or porkbelly first-hand, but I have had their Sloppy Jo on numerous occasions and it's a great sandwich if you'd like anything a little on the spicy side. I've never had a problem with their service. Everyone their is genuinely happy and seems to enjoy working there. Ashley is awesome! She's my favorite server to see.

The food and beer was fantastic. The only and primary issue was the lack of customer service. We sat down and waited 20+ minutes for service. Not only that, but when asked to order food was told "I cannot because this isn't my section." Finally my party had service but had zero apology from our server. I also completely understand that the restaurant was busy after a soccer match, but the lack of professionalism in our servers attitude greatly decreased our experience.

This place had a great menu! I ordered the brussels sprouts (which were amazing) and a brisket sandwich. The brisket wasn't anything to write home about, but the pickled onions it came with were amazing. Other members of our party had pork skins which were fried to order and great, smoked wings which looked amazing and an awesome pretzel with cheese. I would definitely come back again. Service was a little slow, but nice.

Went to this restaurant after a night throwing at flying axes. The seat time was the only good thing about their restaurant. We got seated and was meet thing our waiter than the first issue was noted that they didnt have any cherry soda beverages. Which isnt the end of the world. We order appetizers which was the smoked chicken. After about 10 minutes the chicken came out and was over cooked, over seasoned, and was as tough as leather. I placed my order for a burger. After about 30 mins of our drinks being empty and our waiter never coming to check on us, I got up walked in and asked for more to drink. Finally after another 15 mins our second rounds of drinks finally came out. Than my burger came out asked for it well done it was raw in the middle. This restaurant needs to learn to appreciate the customer more because you never know who you having coming in.

By far the best brewery in Kentucky. They have tons of options both on tap, and in cans and bottles. They even have a full bar if for some reason you aren’t feeling a brew. The bartenders are very informative and make some delicious cocktails, my favorite would have to be the seasonal gimlet. Make sure you have an appetite when you get there because the smoked meats are out of this world. Dry rub wings, brisket, and smoked bologna are all amazing. Plus if you enjoy bouncing around on the web, they have wiiiiiiifiiiiiiii

I made a reservation to bring 30 conference-attendees in for a tour of the brewery and then dinner. I first spoke with Tiernan 5 months before our event, and was in contact with her by phone and email many times, including the day before when I called to change our arrival time from 7 to 7:30 pm (she said it was fine and that she'd write it down). When we arrived at 7:30, there was no one at the door, so I went to the bartender, who asked, "Are you our 30?" I said yes and then he yelled across the restaurant, "stop taking the menus off the tables -- they're here." Tiernan had NOT told anyone else that we changed our time. Then when I asked about the tour of the brewery (which I confirmed by email with Tiernan), they knew nothing about it. We were told that we couldn't have a tour because it would not be safe, and the brewmaster wasn't there. Unprofessional and unacceptable! The event was ruined for the 30 people who PAID to attend and were promised a tour. Also, the food was mediocre. Don't take any chances on this horrible place.

First time visitor to this restaurant and I will not be going back. While on vacation in Louisville we sat at the bar for lunch and Trisha the bartender waited on us, she was less than hospitable. The beer was OK, but just average and we got a bit of attitude when we asked to sample a couple different styles prior to ordering a pint. The bologna sandwich was very tasty, however the pork belly was 75% fat/ 25% any kind of meat you could actually eat. I get that pork belly is fatty, but it was criminal they would even use the piece they served me. When I commented to the bartender my dissatisfaction, she kind of shrugged and looked at me with a what do you want me to do about it look - no we're sorry or let me take that off your bill, or buy you a 2nd beer, etc? So in summary, beer OK, but not great, food can be good but be careful what you order and service was less than impressive.

Would have loved to stay longer and tried more stuff but a concert made this place way to busy. Couldn't even get 4/6 packs of theirs to go. Edited Reply: The Bottle Shop was closed the day we were there. The hostess told us that we had to get the beer to go from the bartender.

We had reservations for a group of 10 for lunch. Do to some hostess mix up we weren't seated right away but they immediately got a table set up for us so we didn't have much of a wait. The food was good, but we were all very surprised to find that entrees and orders don't automatically come with a side. So a sandwich plus a side can easily run you over $15+ and don't get me wrong, it was very delicious but that quickly adds up with a large group. That being said, I appreciated their vegetarian options, as that's not a normal find at a smokehouse. A very fun and relaxed atmosphere in a great location.

Good beer and food. Our server was very knowledgeable about their products which was helpful. We got the nachos and the pulled pork was really good. We only stopped for a beer and a snack, but during we wished we would have came for meal. Pet friendly outside and will even give you a water bowl for your dog.

Very attentive server. We got the fries, nachos, and beer cheese appetizers. All good, but the lack of a melty cheese on the nachos meant nothing was holding the toppings on the chips. We then had the pit platter with a bit of everything. I’ve never had barbecue pork belly before and it may be the only barbecue I can eat from now on. It was so good! Also really enjoyed the brisket and pulled pork. And don’t skip the Brussels sprouts. So tasty!

Love the variety of food! Really liked the open floor plan. Especially love the hooks installed at the bar and tall tables for purses, jackets, etc. Always nice to see thinking outside the box for the comfort of the guest. Definitely going back!

Looking for late night eats in Louisville and found it incredibly difficult until we stumbled into against the grain and the bartender hooked us up with the late night menu - pulled pork sandwich, fries, and dry rub wings. Great local beer brewed onsite and AMAZING service, the bartender Josh was so hospitable. Definitely recommend this place, will have to back in the daytime

Fantastic brewery and food. Our family made a pitstop in Louisville to avoid horrendous traffic on the highway and were not disappointed in this detour. Abby was an excellent server and had top of the line knowledge about all of the beers. She explained each taste perfectly and made our beer selections that much easier. Will definitely be referring friends and making future visits next time we are in the area.

Good place for lunch. Cool old building with history. Had smoked turkey. A little dry but really good tasting. Just make sure you get something else on the side. I got the grits and pickled onions and they were great. Their beer selection is very nice and service friendly. A friendly suggestion: Better, not as processed, buns for the sandwiches would really complement the smoked meats well. It would be amazing if you could bake your own buns. Flour is cheap :)

My family and I went to this restaurant because my younger sister's prom was nearby and we thought it would be a fun place to go. We walked in and the wait time was about 30 minutes and the restaurant was packed. The host (Ethan) was fantastic. He continuously checked on us to make sure we were doing ok and informed us multiple times on when our table would be available. The whole night I saw this host balancing helping other servers, waiting customers and general upkeep of the restaurant. The atmosphere, food, and drinks were all great but I wished the host was our server instead of the one we had! The reason I gave this restaurant 3/5 stars is because they need to hire more servers with the hospitality and kindness of this host!

Great service and some of the best Brussel sprouts in town. I mean for a brewery they have delicious food. Seating outside sucks and it's one huge picnic table with one huge bench seat with about 10 others at the table with you. People are allowed to smoke right next to you while you are eating. So beware of seating outside.

What an odd experience. Such opposites... the atmosphere on a fair-weathered evening was fantastic. The food was mediocre (we had the mac and cheese and nachos). However, the hostess was a down-right nightmare. She wouldn't let my pregnant wife sit down at any of the open tables outside (there were TONS of open seating) and then refused to seat up at our intended table (ironically the place we requested to sit at earlier) until it was fully cleaned off. There was, no joke, one uncollected bill booklet on the table. After dealing with her we had a great time. I walked away wondering if I enjoyed my time there or not. Haha. I cringe when I think of her.

This place is great and a must stop if your visiting Louisville. Excellent beer selection and staff is always friendly. Didn't eat this time but the food I've sampled in past visits and it was very good. This place has a rustic vibe and tons of parking (except game days i suppose). Its located in the Louisville baseball complex and is right off the interstate for quick access. Make sure you stop here.

Smaller than I expected. That being said their burgers are huge, brisket is tasty and their beer selection was great. Our server was informative and welcoming. Went during the week when no game was going on so we were able to enjoy our meal. Beware though as their sides are not included in the meal, one order of their sides is sufficient for 2 adults. Cool atmosphere, beer is good, food was... meh. ribs reminded me of beef jerky and had way too much pepper. can’t speak for any other food, but i would recommend against the ribs. also banana pudding was a cup of whip cream with a layer of pudding on the bottom. Waiter was very polite and took care of our complaints.

One of the best breweries I've EVER been to......period. I admit that I do post glowing reviews of most breweries that I go to, but this legit is one of the best I've been to. This brewery ranks right up there with many of my favorites in Asheville. The Beer The beer was phenomenal. They had a great selection and helluva deal at $7 flights. My personal favorites were the Retitled Pilsner (ranks up there with all of my fav pilsners from anywhere. There IPA's were on target as well. I found myself liking the vast majority of their entire selection, of which there was approximately 15 or so on tap. Most breweries with this many drafts available, I gravitate to only a few.. Service Service was world-class. Mitchell was one of the best servers I've had in quite some time. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and offered excellent overall service. We were planning to leave to grab a bite somewhere else and decided to stay because, why leave just for the sake of it. Glad we did..... Food The food was unbelievably good. If they didn't brew beer, they could stand alone on as a singular restaurant. I got the Fatboy sausage roll with a pretzel bun. Just damn. One of the best pieces of food I've eaten in quite some time. My fiance had the pork bbq tacos and said they were some of the best she'd ever had. To top it off, we got a bbq sauce "flight" that had some amazing sauces. I loved their Carolina sauce the best. Fiance went with the white bbq sauce. Scene Scene was cool, inviting, and overall chill. Had a huge outdoor area if the weather suits, but inside was fantastic as well. Great tunes on the whole time, cool art and paintings, and friendly service make this place truly amazing. If you're in Louisville.........GO HERE NOW!!!!
