This Restaurant is classified in the category of Irish pub.
The Dubliner is a great little Irish Pub located in Power & Light. The atmosphere is amazing, there is no shortage of carved wood. I love that they have both Guinness and Murphy's Irish Stout. They have all the classic Irish foods and they are quite delicious. The staff is really friendly and they do a really good job. I will definitely be returning!
The service and the food was great. Plenty of seating with a relaxed atmosphere. All of the wood and tile makes this place look awesome. The fish and chips were delicious and very filling. The portion was huge. The premier league game playing on the tv and sound system was the best part. That and the soccer fans that came in to watch. A great place to eat and enjoy some football.
Great Irish Pub to hang out at. Customer service is fantastic and of course the Guinness taste great as always.
Dessert is amazing! The rest of the food is pretty much what you would expect from a bar.
Food was delicious. Felt prices were a wee but steep.
Saw The Tippers in concert here.. One of the best concerts I've ever been to
Stopped in on a Tuesday night, looking forward to checking the place out. They had a decent crowd but nothing crazy. After sitting at the bar for 10 minutes without as much as a nod from the bartender that he was swamped, we left. There are too many other places nearby to waste our time here. ** UPDATE ** - we did stop in again the following afternoon. While there was a little smaller crowd than the night before, the service was completely different. Sitting outside in the patio area, the girl waiting on us was great. It was a warm afternoon, so we moved inside and sat at the bar. The girl who was bartending was awesome. Great selection of beers on tap, and she was able to make anything my wife ordered. We would definitely go again next time we come back! (PS - Due to this, I changed my rating from a 1 to a 4.)
Loved the sheaperd
Over dressed salad and meh fish and chips.
With the exception of the Liverpool flag on the wall, the Dubliner was excellent.
The food is really good and authentic. Great sports bar.
Very good food, spotty service. Delightful Irish pub atmosphere. Don't go here expecting to use a Passport card. Even though it's currently listed as a Passport participant, the Dubliner told us they stopped accepting the card about six months ago.
Friendly Staff! Great atmosphere!
Nice patio.
Great food and drink. Little slow on service.
Best Shepard"s Pie ever! Best served with Magner's cider.
A good place for a good entertainment Friendly staff and patrons, always 5 stars
Food was good but was overpriced for small portions, alcohol was pricey as well
Omg the food is amazing!! I highly recommend the corned beef and cabbage! The beef brisket and fish and chips were also excellent. The atmosphere and decor are an experience you will certainly enjoy!
Expensive. Great environment for games.
Really good shepherd pie
Horrible, over priced and underfed.
Tasty food and our servicer was very friendly.
Had high hopes for this place but sadly disappointed. Service was slow. For quality was subpar. Furnishing was tired and chairs were rickety. Won't go back again, too many other options in the area.
Great service!
We have a Passport Unlimited card - which at participating restaurants you are supposed to get a free meal when you purchase one of equal or greater value - and The Dubliner is listed on the Passport website as a participating member. We went there to eat and ordered and put our card on the table then when the waitress brought the check I asked her if she took our discount off and she said they are no longer a member, I told her that they are still on the list so she asked if we would like to speak to a manager, I said yes. The manager came over and also said they are no longer participating and have not been for 6 months - so we said fine and paid our bill and left. The next day I called Passport and they said the Dubliner is still under contract and should have honored our card. Passport has been trying to get ahold of the person in charge who signed the contract to get to the bottom of this for weeks to no avail so far. The reuben sandwiches we had were very good. But the bathrooms were not clean at all
First, here are the highlights. Unlike some other nearby bars, you can actually talk to people. They don’t have deafening noise. They also have more than a couple of whiskies, albeit overpriced. But there are a few drawbacks. The service was a little slow. The bartender, Kyle, was busy talking and messing with his phone. Also, I ordered a whiskey with just a little water. A whiskey bar should know what a customer means by a little bit of water, and why. What Kyle gave me was about 50% water.
In town for the chiefs game, went to the power and light district stopped into the Dubliner for a drink with another couple after getting our drinks and sitting at the bar a person from behind bar come up to my wife and her friend and asked them for there drivers license and then took them away to the back room. This we thought was strange and there response was they needed to scan them. both women are in there 50s felt very uncomfortable they shouldn't have taken our personal identity info to a back room.
Every time we go, we have great service
Excellent place! Amazing food and atmosphere!
Liverpool game, Liverpool bar. Awesome!!
Absolutely TERRIBLE customer service. Went in around 4pm & it was not busy at all, sat at a table for 10 minutes before deciding to move to the bar to try & get service, sat at the bar for another 10 minutes without the two bartenders ever even acknowledging us....even though they were gossiping right in front of us for at least 5 minutes. We heard their entire conversation. It wasn’t until we got up that the male bartender asked if we had been helped (obviously we had not considering we didn’t have drinks or menus in front of us!!!). When he realized we were leaving he said to come back & he would buy our drinks. Seriously?!? No thank you! We went across the way to McFadden’s & had superb service!!!
Had a great experience. The service was great. I'm definitely going to visit again.
Food is poor. Of the two entrees we had, both were sub-par. The "stew" is a mixture of vegetables and meat cooked down into the thick paste, and flavored with curry powder. The sausages in the bangers and mash were extremely dry (made in house; whoever makes them should look up why fat is added to sausages), and the peas were very obviously from a packet. I do not recommend this place for food.
Great place to stop in for a beer after show
Service was ok. Food was decent. It was the drinks that stood out the most. Good pours, good beer selection. Definitely doing the Irish proud there
This was our first time at the Dubliner. Stopped in to watch the K State game and have a beer. We sat at a table in the bar area. When absolutely nobody came to take an order from us after a while, my husband went to the bar to get the beer himself. The bartender offered to send a server. He didn't want to just give him a beer and again offered to send a server. He got his beer and a while later a server showed up with menus. I asked her about dessert and a good 20 mins later came back to ask if I wanted dessert. This place was dead at the time with a maximum of 12 people there. During this time, 5 employees are standing at the end of the bar talking and giving backrubs but we can't get served. I don't know how this place stays in business. Someone spent a lot of money on the interior of it and the rent's got to be high and they're paying 5 employees to stand around and not serve people. The next employee we saw come on duty did the same thing, stood on the customer side of the bar talking and he was the bartender.
Take it for what it is. A good pub with a strong whiskey selection
Good service and good food. Great to go to before a concert at Sprint Center.
Service was kind of slow but servers were really nice and food was delicious!
Was a fun place on St.Patrick's Day!
Love the staff. So friendly and great food. Well done cooker. Love their Irish kiss coffee. Delicious! Just right!
Bartender was great and took good care of us. The Irish BLT, don't bother. It had one small medallion of Irish bacon about the size of a silver dollar and an 1/8th in thick, and what looked like half a shriveled up piece of regular old cured American bacon from a diner. I expected it to be a bit more like a BAP with a nice thick slice of Irish bacon but alas it wasn't even close. The rest of the ingredients were fresh, I was very hungry so I wolfed it down rather than complain or wait for something else. My buddy got the CBC and it looked and smelled nice, he said it was good. My meal also rang up a dollar more than what the menu stated, I can only guess the potato wedges were an up-charge side dish. Not somewhere I would go for a meal but I would go back for a Smithwicks Red since they have it on tap.
The place was busy but that is no excuse for not delivering meals to the correct table. We were there for dinner before a concert and was almost late for that because our meals were given to someone else, by mistake of course, but we did have to re-order. To the management's credit, they did pay for our entire meal.
Really great food. Super atmosphere at Power and Light District
I have ordered from door dash twice from this place I normally don't write reviews but I just have to for this place they are amazing and honestly worth every penny. I love this place and so happy I took a chance on getting it delivered I am over joyed with this find.
Very unique place. Loved the old decor, and casual layout.
We love eating here!!!! Andy is the best!!! Food is always awesome.
Great pseudo-Irish pub atmosphere, friendly staff. My nit-pick is paying $8 for a local IPA and getting it serves too me in a plastic cup as if I were at a frat party. C'mon man. We can do better!
Proper Irish bar, staff extremely accommodating, variety of gluten free food and drink options available.
Very slow service due to the manager severely under staffing (according to our server). Food tasted good but was cold. It was also so loud we couldn't hear each other or the wait staff. Our server tried his best, but he did not have the support or training (he said this was his third day) necessary to make this a good experience.
Probably the best drinker friendly bar in power light district which overall was very underwhelming. But this place and the bartenders were great.
Really they can’t cook a burger more than medium. Wouldn’t even consider fully cooking the food for a customer. The waiter looked at me as if I was from another planet. I like to have all my food cooked to the recommended temp so I don’t get sick. Bad service and terrible attitudes by the staff. Very limited menu Wow love the response from the owner. Will never go back and will suggest to everyone I know not to go. You stand by your employees treating your customers terrible. Not a place I would want to go.
Fantastic service even when crowded! As long as you're not an inconsiderate jerk they're as fast and accommodating as they can be. Great food and drinks!
Much closer than Ireland for a proper Guinness or Smithwick's!
Will definitely return here in the future. Fast and friendly service, was the best service we've had in KC this whole weekend.... great food... and atmosphere. Recommend trying this place.... for food... drinks.... or coffee.
Shame on me, I didn't take a picture! I thought I knew where my favorite burger in town was, then I had the House Burger. This is the most decadent and perfectly executed burger. Pork, beef and lamb mix on a pretzel bun with house-cured bacon and a tomato bacon jam. I always love the house-made pub chips here. The space has always been one of my favorites in KC - three sides of the restaurant have patios, and there's hightop or regular table seating. Live music at times, great selection at the bar. It was dead tonight but the bartender was still plenty nice to me, considering I came in around the time they were probably ready to close up and leave!
Great food and whisk(e)y selection. The place looks amazing as well.
WARNING !!! WARNING !!! WARNING !!! If you go to The Dubliner, be careful how much you tip !!! I went there, had a drink, ordered dinner from the male bartender, than ordered two more drinks. the bartender's scam is to let you think, he's giving you a drink on the house, so that you can give him a GOOD BIG TIP, I had a feeling that is what he was going to do, i gave him a PRETTY GOOD TIP. WELL, the next day i look at my bank account, and WHAT DO YOU KNOW. HE CHARGED ME FOR THE FIRST DRINK THAT HE LED ME TO BELIEVE, HE WAS GIVING TO ME ON THE HOUSE!!!
Was in KC for the Chiefs home opener. Checked out the Power and Light district and absolutely loved it! We ate dinner here and it did not disappoint! Everything we tried was excellent! Great atmosphere too! Thumbs up!
Great Shepards pie.
My friend was really hungry so we ate here 6pm on a Saturday. She got the Irish stew and loved it, I had a bite and tasted nothing but thyme and salt. I only wanted a snack so I had the small plate of mac and cheese, it was just okay—admittedly probably not the thing to get at an Irish pub. Lastly we split the pretzel appetizer and loved the beer mustard, but the cheese was like any other nacho cheese. Wouldn't go back for the food but the atmosphere was neat just to have some drinks.
Great bar service! Excellent corned beef and cabbage! Loved the Bloody Marys!
Elliott is the best. Opened early for a 6:30 Liverpool match. Full bar at 6:30. God bless the Dubliner!
Great place to hang for some food and drinks. I had the fish and chips which was delicious and many different types of liquor to choose from. Service was great and the atmosphere is dim and relaxed. I'll come here again next time I'm in KC.
Very friendly staff. Great place to watch EPL especially Liverpool
Food was not so good and service was fair
Excellent bangers and mash.
An Irish pub with actual Irish whiskey and beer. Better than the other place nearby.
Fast service great food
So damn good
We come here every year. This is a key stop on our bar crawl we do. They have a great selection of Irish beers and whiskeys.
This is the first review I have ever left. I wish I would have taken a picture. We came here on St. Patrick's day. We paid $17 for the corned beef and cabbage, which was delicious, but it was literally served in a tiny plastic TV dinner dish! Super small portion and not AT ALL like the rest of the pictures posted. Very disappointed in the portion size and price.
Good atmosphere and food reasonably priced but the service was really slow. Usually it's pretty fast.
Try the shepherds pie. You'll feel magical!
This was a nice place to visit - good food, good drinks, and friendly staff. The fried artichoke hearts were delicious! We went on Valentines night and it wasnt very busy. The entire area was rather quiet that night. We will visit again!
I found this place to be extremely sexist for assuming that a man being me, wishes to pay for all the drinks a woman orders if she sits next to him at the bar. I had to tell Elliot, the bartender to separate my orders from the woman's who wanted to engage me. That was very uncomfortable and should have been unnecessary if the bartender Elliott would not had assumed the man wished to pay if the woman. I still tipped him above average but I did not appreciate that sexist assumption.
This was our first visit to The Dubliner. We had a fantastic meal and our server, Andy, was amazing! In particular, I had the Corned Beef and Cabbage ... It was perfect! As it happens this was my birthday dinner out and Corned Beef is the special meal my mother would make for me every year. It was wonderfully nostalgic. Andy gave us excellent, attentive service and we will most definitely be back.
The staff was nice but it was really busy and seemed to be understaffed. The food was good and the drinks tasty.
The food is great! The brisket melted in my mouth! The server did a horrible job because they have forced gratuity. He forgot my beer and my water.
Good place for an afternoon bevy. Service was great and quick and was ready to grab anything I needed. One hell of an Irish whiskey and beer list so I'll definitely be back.
Good food and great atmosphere. Too many TV's (why can't you have a restaurant anymore WITHOUT TVs). Really enjoyed my fish and chips, but with a name like "The Dubliner" I was hoping for more Irish fare than was available on the menu.
I am from out of town and was suggested that I try here. I took the advice of one of the employees to get the Chicken and Rashers. It was awesome. Will definitely come back here when I come back to KC!
Great place to sit down and have a drink with friends. Very good selection and not too loud, which is nice.
Amazing bartenders great Irish food and probably the best Irish car bomb you will ever have. Great place to have a bite to eat and a few drinks. Seriously though if you like irish car bombs this place has the best ones.
Good service usually, food good though not quite authentic. More cafeteria quality but a bit better. Not fresh.
The drinks were delicious and the service was acceptable. I'm not quite sure why we were served everything in plastic plates and bowls when tables around us got dishware. The portion sizes were miniscule. The shepherd's pie was a tiny plastic bowl for $14. My sausages in the bangers and mash were so dry I couldn't swallow them. The atmosphere was nice, so two stars.
I love coming here. The decor of the place is really unique and it feels nice and cozy. Their version of the Moscow Mule is fantastic, and the food is always great.
The food was very good. The Manager was very professional and accommodating.
Had fish and chips and hubby had shepherds pie. It was amazing. Also had some drinks. Loved it. Great food and great service. With definitely come back!!!
It's a relaxing inviroment without being to quiet or dead would recommend for a cold beverage
We had dinner there on Saturday evening, and the food was not that great. The Shepard's pie was supposed to have lamb in it and it tasted like ground beef with spices. And we also ordered the vegetarian burger, and it was burnt crisp but they put the burnt part on the bottom, and I am assuming hoped that I wouldn't notice. It was so hard I could not even bite through it, and the bun was stale. I showed the waitress how burnt my food was so she had the manager refund us for my burnt burger.
Best bar in power and light. Home to Kansas City's supporters club for Liverpool Football Club!
We ate here on a Friday evening around 7. The sign said to seat yourself, so we picked a table. We were never greeted after sitting there for at least 5 minutes and 2 different servers walking past us. So we got up and picked a seat at the bar instead. The service at the bar was quick and friendly. We ate bangers and mash (just ok...the bangers were fairly dry) and fish & chips (easily the best fish & chips I've ever eaten - this is the main reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 3). We would return for the fish & chips.
Always a fun time at the Dubliner. I didn't eat anything, but the bartenders were great as I sat at the bar, had a few beers, and watched all the games on several TVs.
Good food and great beer on tap! Friendly service!
Fun place. Bug beers
Zoe was a very friendly and attentive waitress and everything was great. Drinks and food are apt for the area in price but made very well!
Great food, nice atmosphere and friendly server
Fish and chips are good. Service just ok.
Great food. The best Sheppard's pie I had
Amazing food, will definitely be going back
Great authentic Irish pub. Friendly service!
I wish I could break this review in parts as in regards as the rating. Came in on 9-15-18. About 1:15 pm. Was not busy. Was greeted right away. Then it was up and down from there. Took awhile to get our food ordered. Then took awhile to get our food. Well what’s considered awhile? When it is not busy, I think more than 20 minutes is to long. So service is a 2 star. But, saying this our server Andy did the best he could. He was friendly and pleasant. If he worked on urgency and attentiveness. Now about the food. Paying $15 dollars for fish and chips. The coleslaw came in something that you would think you would get if you wanted to sample it. 3 bites and your done. The fries were good. The fish was the best part. But to small of a portion. But I do understand it’s the area. Prices and Portion are in line with the other restaurants in the area. So the food gets a 3 1/2. The cleanliness and atmosphere gets a 4. Good place to watch the game. My biggest concern is this. I reviewed the past reviews and the issues. But having come here after those reviews. There should be some progress in the changes from what the reviews have stated. But unfortunately there is not. Apologizing and not fixing it. Leaves you with an empty apology. No place is perfect. But striving to be better should always be our goal.
Loved this place. Chill and in the heart of the light and power district
One visit only (from out of town). Fries were good. Super busy due to a concert at the Sprint Center, so the wait was long. Can't remember a great deal about it, which means it must have been decent. If it had been bad, if definitely remember. I do remember the service being good.
Not much of a selection for a vegetarians. Fish and chips was good.
Nice Irish pub with lots of food choices.
