We came for dinner for the first time & it was absolutely perfect. The atmosphere, the food and the staff. Jamie was our server and she was the best!!!

Lisa Stoneman

Good food, great service, and a nice atmosphere.

Eric U

Pretty bummed about the food...expected fantastic fried chicken and got one decent piece and two undercooked pieces. One piece was quite undercooked and inedible. My sons chicken fingers were oddly breaded and overdone. Lots of $$$ for the quality of food. I've had better chicken at KFC sadly. Service was good though.

Amanda Fink

This place was AMAZING!! The food was good and the servers were great. Awesome atmosphere and very reasonable prices. Thanks to Jeanne for making our experience wonderful! Can’t wait to come back.

We went during brunch. Excellent service nd very entertaining server. The waffle was delicious. Chocolate chips pancakes were the size of a small pizza and loaded with chocolate. They are known for their fried chicken; my husband said it was delicious and the greens were fantastic. We will be back.

Danny Smith

It was fabulous. Our waitress was Kayley. Nice variety of foods that are reasonable. Atmosphere is relaxed, with a touch of upscale vibe. Tables are intimately set. They have happy hour too

My experience facts no emotions. On May 20 a co-worker and myself ordered Mr.B lunch, as we begin to eat we noticed the chicken was undercooked, it was pink/red inside. We tossed the food called complained and was advised by Tim he would comp us whenever we were ready. Fast forward today, we called in our on thorder ladye phone states, verbatim "oh I see the note, you had two chicken meals both with greens and mashed." We agree, add a third chicken dinner and Mac and cheese. I get there only to be told there's credit for one not two dinners. I had to say why am I being questioned about the validity of the comp once I arrive to pick up the order. Because WE are black it's AUTOMATICALLY ASSUMED we're doing something wrong. He ended up comping the whole order to correct the wrong. I appreciate that. However I spent 19 of my 30 min lunch explaining the validity of our request, when I should have been able to walk in pick up the order and pay only what was due. We won't return, and we will share this negative experience with at least 10 people. Also sending an email cause the order comped today, was wrong after the way I was treated.

Chicken fried steak was almost burnt. Didn't want to complain as we were the guest of another couple. My husband's fried chicken was good he said.

Dalal Tadros

Food was excellent felt like home made.

Belinda Counts

Great drinks..and apps, bartender Tony was awesome!

Amy McCarty

Great ambience. Good food. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Will definitely be back! They just celebrated their one year anniversary.

Abigail Harrison

We came in a late Friday afternoon. We enjoyed the ambiance. The Brass Onion appetizer is a signature must have! We ordered the fried chicken and the mac and cheese with chicken, instead of shrimp. The portion sizes were generous. The food took more time than we expected to get to the table, since there were only a few tables with people. However, it was well worth the wait. The food tasted nice and fresh. The chicken breast was the most moist one I have had. There was not a dry piece. Our server was friendly. The hostess could have at least smiled, but she was kind of a grump who seemed annoyed. We will be back and we recommend.

AMAZING FOOD & EVEN BETTER SERVICE! I had the pleasure of planning a large dinner with Monica Easley, the event manager at The Brass Onion, for my company and it was the best dinner I've planned yet! I contacted Monica about the dinner literally a week before the event date and she executed everything perfectly! Her and her team deserve kudos for all their handwork, service, and pleasantness. The two bar tenders that managed the bar for us were friendly, helpful, and not to mention, great to converse with. I received several compliments from my attendees about the DELICIOUS food and GORGEOUS atmosphere. Several people even mentioned making The Brass Onion a regular spot for dinner. If you're looking for great food, great service, and an AMAZING venue look no further. P.S. I highly recommend ordering the smashed potatoes! ;) Thank you again Monica! You and your team are INCREDIBLE!

Good food and super friendly staff, went out of their way to help us

Ron Richard

I had the brick chicken with mashed potatoes and sides. Very tender and flavors were delicious. The white wines are limited but some good options.

John Stoner

Happy hours is wonderful, burnt ends are delicious, and music every Thursday night right outside the door

darkwlf32

Great food excellent service courteous staff

Reesha Pretty girl

I really wanted this restaurant to live up to its hype. Unfortunately, it was not good. We ordered smoked wings, ribeye, & about three cocktails. I shied from it’s known favorites because soul food is a lane everyone can’t cross.

jim bernard

Went there for the first time with long time friends from out of town. Great food and service, fair prices, good spot for conversation. I believe they might have live music some nights.

jacob sturk

What I thought would be a simple breakfast has turned into one of the greatest experience I've had next to the birth of my first child! Food... amazing. Serice... incredible. I will forever remember my time at the brass onion! Mimosa gang for life

Len Harvey

So...wow. The fried chicken was amazing and drinks were on point. Service was a bit odd and slow, but once Tyler took over, it was great!

Daniel Chavis III

The food and service is top notch!

Jon Geisel

Second time as good as the first. So comfortable we did not want to leave the patio. Out food was as good as it gets. Brovo BO

Beautiful restaurant with great food in the popular prairie fire area. Reasonable prices as well. I had the small baby spinach salad with chicken. The dressing was amazing, and they actually gave me a decent amount of chicken (unlike most places). I was able to try their fried chicken with mashed potatoes and corn bread. The potatoes were unique and tasty. The cornbread was good, but a little crunchier on top than I would have liked. The greens it came with were over salted, however. We also had dessert. The chocolate cake with ice cream was delicious, but the key lime pie was better (and I don't like key lime pie). The flavor was excellent and the crust was yummy.

I went there recently to celebrate my birthday. It was fantastic! First, the incredible happy hour (great wine prices , plus yummy appetizers!). Then, later, supper, with a great menu - it was hard to decide what to pick. I tried the Pan Fried Brie salad, which was so delicious - if you like Brie, you must try. I then had the Mr. B's fried chicken - it was so tasty, not greasy in the least - light and crispy on the outside, and incredibly moist and tender on the inside! I was in heaven. Great atmosphere - very nice, but not stuffy at all. We had a wonderful evening! Thanks!

Came with a group of 30... Ended up with 38 and they killed it! Scallops were amazing. Staff gave amazing service and especially for our group's size.

Guy Roberts

An amazing experience! They told us they could accommodate our group of 30 (which grew to about 40) with only a few hours notice. Put us in a private room as well. The servers were all amazing and the food was awesome! One of the best places to eat in KC. Well done Brass Onion!!!

Desi Kraus

Walked in and was completely ignored. The phone rang while we waited at the front and finally someone came out and proceeded to completely ignore my fiance and I, answers the phone and turns her back to us. Even a simple, "give me one sec" would have been sufficient but instead, it was just incredibly rude. What looked like a manager finally came rushing out asking if we needed help, but by that time, we were half way out the door. Poor service.

k randolph

Although the food was really good the service was horrible. I ordered a meal that came with potatoes and when I got it they were cold so I told our server and she was like I'll grab you some more; 30 minutes later, she's walked by our table at least 6 time but, I never received my potatoes and them when she finally did come over and I told her, there was no apology not. There were a few others thing's that happens as well but all in all food was good service leaves something to be desired.

Myrna Browning

Friendly service and great food.

Rick

Fantastic food! One of the best pork chops I've ever had!

Jeremy Blunt

Great service. Great options. I got the fish special, pricy but delicious. Didn't necessarily care for the open concept, but I'd go back

Dennis Saum

Fine, upscale dining establishment. Great food, fun atmosphere. Love the decor. Nice people. Bartender was a character!

Sean G

Every single thing we had was truly spectacular. There pan fried brie salad was amazing; rich, sweet, with a dressing that I wouldn't like alone but loved with the rest of the ingredients. The scallops could not have been cooked better. They fell apart in your mouth. The salmon was salty, just like I like it. We also had deviled eggs and they were just right. My last special shout out is to the cornbread. The bread itself isn't too sweet like it sometimes is at some restaurants. The cornbread tasted like it should, but with a honey "crust" on the bottom that creates a better separation of tastes. Absolutely cannot wait to go back and try the wings and the burnt ends and actually everything else on the menu!

Susan Heyka

My husband and myself eat at Brass Onion 2-3 times weekly! The servers are great! Tony the bartender, goes out of his way to make our experience always great! He goes far and above and we appreciate him! The food is outstanding also!!!

Camille McClain

Fried chicken was AMAZING!! Be sure and get extra cornbread because you will want it for dessert.

Chelsea Thompson

such a treat. they don't turn you away if you're underdressed but this is an upscale place to eat. I definitely recommend their happy hour menu! my favorite is the brass daquiri

Vince Sr.

Nice people, great food, super cool bar staff. Drink condiments are all house made and/or pickled. I would go back just for the onion in my Gibson. Sangria was fruity and delicious, again made in house. The rub on the smoked chicken wings is reminiscent of The Rendezvous (Memphis) dry rub. Smoked and deep fried, delicious! The daily Flat Bread was perfect as were the Crab Hush Puppies. We will be back soon, maybe tonight! :p

Melissa Wurtz

Brass Onion has wonderful food (we did restaurant week menu- starting with the onion dip which was delicious. Had shrimp and grits and salmon- the salmon was so moist. ) They were short staffed so waited a long time for a drink and food -server was nice but frazzled. would have given higher rating. Atmospehere nice- will try again.

Joshua Trump

Waiter wouldn't do a round of happy hour drinks being seated a few minutes before end of happy hour. Mac and cheese was good. Waiter proceeded to sneeze on the bill on his way to deliver it. For the price you get standard Leawood fare and get to deal with the prairie fire crowd for the privilege. Maybe unlucky with first experience, but that's all it takes in the restaurant world. Not worth the experience we had for the money.

Patti Blichmann

Fantastic food and great service. We had the flatbread appetizer which was so good. The small Brie salad is a meal in its self. I also ordered the Mac and Cheese which was wonderful.

Angela Carney

Great brunch. I'll be back soon.

David Livingston

Great food and service

Julie Perry

Great selection of small plates, appetizers, etc. And, a fun place to go for happy hour. We enjoyed the Fried Chicken Sliders, deviled eggs, hushpuppies, yukon gold potatoes, and the honey cornbread...which is the best!

Pat Hawkins

We ordered the Shrimp and Grits plus Jambalaya. Excellent choices with excellent service. Well worth your $.

Mike W

Onion rings were unappealing. Service was slow. Will not be returning.

Matt Atherton Jr

Delicious food and great staff. It was a great dining experience. Jeanne was great at getting a party of 30 people in at the last minute! Thanks again!!

Jonathan Matthews

A modern American restaurant run with Italian-American hospitality. Menu has several fish, chicken and beef options and they always accommodate my mother, who is a gluten free, dairy free, level 10 vegan meal complicater. For date night I recommend: red bottles are all reasonably priced, sit at the bar or patio, grab any of the salads, and split the $30 Prime rib special on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday.

Janice Ward

Food was amazing. Service was excellent as well. We went for a church brunch.

Lavicia Hill

This upscale restaurant has the best friend Chicken I've tasted in this area. The food has great flavor.

Deepak Prabhakar

Really great food and service. The cornbread, onion dip and the pork chop dishes were all fantastic. Wings were good as well. Cocktails were varied and delicious across the board

David Harkleroad

The food here is excellent and you are sure to get your steak cooked the way you want. A very comfortable atmosphere. A great beer and wine selection. A fully stocked bar so you can get whatever drink you want.

David Knotek

Scallops were amazing, cooked to perfection. Could not have wanted a better meal.

David Franklin

The folks that work here are so friendly that it makes me feel like I'm at home again. The Brass Onion Dip is my most favorite thing on the menu, especially during happy hour when it is on special. Mr B's friend chicken was crispy and tasty without being greasy. The other time I ate at the Brass Onion I had the Jambalaya Pasta, which was the best I've eaten in the KC area. Also enjoyed listening to the solo guitarist that played on one of the evenings I was there.

Anthony Morgan

Man that place was Great.Amy our waitress was a5 star server. Phil and the Manager even helped her. The fare is Cajun. Man the fried chicken was straight out of Shreeveport , LA. The Chef knew what he was doing. The wine list was 4 star and rising. JJs is the only 5 star wine list in the Metro Area. This place is great. Go you will not be disappointed.

Brotherhood Garage

Such an awesome experience and awesome food. Called last night with a last minute large group and these folks MADE IT HAPPEN!!! Awesome food, awesome service, and a great experience!

Sergio Suarez

Not sure where to start ...but everything went wrong. Waitress forgot our drinks - she rushed them after we were done with the appetizer and the Moscow Mule wasn’t good... how difficult is to prepare that drink? Anyway, she also forgot the bread we requested, and we had a 20 mins wait for my steak. The steak was cold and it wasn’t good so I returned it. The excuse from the manager was not acceptable - he said it was probably sitting there waiting for other dishes to get ready?? He didn’t really help. So I didn’t eat, frankly I preferred not to order anything else after that experience. My wife’s entré wasn’t good either. It’s a shame we don’t have good quality food and service in a place like this. I think the 5 star reviews which led us to this place are just from mediocre comparables around the area - people just get used to low quality standards maybe?

Anthony Rustici

Your taste buds will like you for coming and trying this place out.. This atmosphere is perfect for a night out with the significant other, such an elegant restaurant..

03srambokc

Completely irritated, came on Easter because we heard about the food. Our server poured our drinks and walked off. Never said I will be with you in a moment. We waited so long for somebody to take our order, another server came out and took our order. We came with good energy and my energy completely changed after being there for 10 mins and bad service. Then after someone else put our appetizer in she comes over and she had been standing there across from us forever. I’m just completely over this place and I hadn’t even got my damn food!

Davida Mobley

We went here for Father's Day. We made reservations probably a month ago for 1pm. I stopped a waiter that was not our own and said, "we had reservations for 1pm and it's 2:42pm, what's going on with our food???" He came back and said it was being plated. Our party had 24 people in it and they only gave us ONE waiter!!! This was ridiculous! It appeared that she was also waiting on 2 more tables besides ours. She seemed to be getting overwhelmed in the end. I would not recommend going here with a large party!

D K

There were five of us and we all ordered different things along with two appetizers. The food was amazing and it was surprisingly affordable even including drinks. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it. We will be back.

John Paul Balthazor

Tony is one of the best bartenders in Kansas City! If you are looking, for a great dinner and a great night out. This Is your place.

Gregg Frost

Excellent brunch and great service

EVERETT BIAS

The staff, the master chef and the food was very very good. Went here for lunch with a friend of many years and had the Salmon with a variety of vegetables, and it was superb.

Amanda Burns

The Brass Onion is so delicious! The menu is very broad-perfect for everyone! The environment is upscale but has a comfortable vibe to it as well. The service was incredible! Host had a smile, waters wwre poured immediately, and the server had an amazing personally! I highly recommend The Brass Onion.

Poppa

Delicious food. Staff was friendly and helpful. The dining area was open and pleasant with plenty of room between tents.

Courtney Hollenbeck

Great experience this evening for dinner. Food was incredible.

Colleen Probst

The Brass Onion was a last minute choice after other plans fell thru on Mother's day. Every single person on staff is just the friendliest. Nice music without being too loud to have conversation. And the food!! First, let me say we eat out about 90% of the time, around the country and not much fast food. We know good food!! I had the Rueben. Best! Ever! The vegetable slaw was delicious! You cannot go wrong to choose The Brass Onion!
