We stopped in here for drinks after dinner so I can't speak to their food at all. The ambiance is dark and romantic with super tall booths for lots of privacy, if you're into that sort of thing. They have a creative cocktail list, an expansive wine list and all types of liquors and beers. The service was friendly and attentive. Worth a stop for sure.

Highly overpriced. "Sharable" grilled vegetable for $10 was two spoonfuls of chopped grey mushy vegetables. The $9.00 strawberry salad was a few pieces of strawberries with 4 pieces of greens. The polenta with the shrimp was disgusting and inedible. How do you mess up polenta? It was so noisy you couldn't hear the person next to you. And I left very hungry. I don't plan on returning

We love Tannin. Their scallops are the bomb! The waygu burger is also fantastic. Give them a try! The wait staff is extremely attentive. Overall, a favorite restaurant when in downtown KC.

Expensive. But large variety of wines for all interests as well as other options for those who aren’t interested in a wine. I tried the cucumber rx. It was light and refreshing. Definitely recommend sitting outside on their patio and enjoying the night air if you can.

This is the perfect place to spend a long night out with the one you love. Great atmosphere, huge wine selection with a very knowledgeable staff, and amazing food in great portion sizes. If you go make sure to try a cheese flight or two, add some meat, and have your waiter grab you a wine flight to start. Then just relax, kick back, and let the night happen. So worth every penny you spend, and you will spend quite a bit of pennies, but you won't even be mad. Just tipsy, full, and relishing in the evening. Enjoy!

My first visit and I’ll definitely be back. A popular little place apparently, as it was packed. I’m glad my friend knew about this place and had the forethought to make reservations. We had an extra person and they accommodated us, and quickly. Our server was not only a beautiful young lady, but very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. I was very impressed with her balance as well. Lol. We had 4 flights and she brought them all out on a big tray, bending outer and setting our glasses in front of us, all the while balancing the tray and describing the details and name of each wine she was putting down, in order of the menu listing in case we forgot. Which we did. there was also a gentleman who was serving other tables who stopped by a couple of times to refill our water or give us information that he heard us question in our conversations. The staff was beyond excellent. The food (appetizers and desserts) was outstanding and the wine was delicious.

It is a nice establishment with upscale atmosphere. They have a wide variety of wines(you are gonna see a thick book of wine list) and gourmet food. I recommend to try their cheese flight. You can get 3 different cheeses along with some fruits and nuts. There are high tables, booths and private area for a party. The service is really good(they are very attentive and seem to be very knowledgeable). I didn't try their food or dessert but it seemed great!

I always enjoy myself when I go here but I end up spending more than I’d like to spend. That being said, the staff is always very professional and helpful. The atmosphere, in day or night, is cozy and romantic. The food is so, so good. I especially love their chocolate peanut butter cookie combo dessert. One of our favorite bars in KC. Fantastic wine list. They have a wine club and just started a VIP program. We love their small plates, but frequently have dinner as well. Upscale dining, $15-$45 dinner prices. Small plates $5-15. Great happy hour specials 3-6pm. They have a few craft beers available, and a full bar with fantastic crafted cocktails. Another favorite thing is the Turner Classic Music tv channel! Not a sports bar.

I've been here twice now while visiting KC and both times have been delightful. If you're into wine or food and especially both, this is a great spot to come. My most recent visit was full of lovely wine like a Calabretta, Cab Franc, Gamay, and Beaujolais all paired excellently with the charcuterie, cabbage soup, and pork chop. I'll have a hard time not coming here again next time I'm in KC.

Stopped in before a concert when in the area. Great location in walking distance of P&L and the Sprint Center. Service staff were excellent. Wine menu is overwhelming for an naive wine drinker. Ordered the cocktails and was not dissapointed. It was slightly pricey, but the food was more than worth it! I tried a few new things while there and the wait staff was able to answer all my questions. Only downside was it took a little longer than I would have liked to get our food. It was worth the wait. I would go back again if I am in the area.

My fiance recently threw a surprise engagement party for me in the private room of Tannin. Due to unforeseen circumstances he had to switch locations the night before the party, and came across the idea of Tannin. The staff was so accommodating, and worked with my friends and family to make sure all the details were perfect. The servers were very attentive, and their was not an empty wine glass in sight. The appetizers we ordered were fantastic, and I would definitely recommend Tannin to anyone looking for a great meal or looking to plan a small gathering.

I have been to Tannin a few times. Each time is fantastic! My husband and I decided to have an event there which had about 36 guest. The manager created a three course meal for our event. The guest could choose from two salads, three main courses, and three desserts. The manager Jon was outstanding to work with. He was very on top of creating a elegant dinner for us. The staff was amazing and treated all of our guest with fantastic customer service. We are very happy with the management, staff, and environment. I personally think they have the best steak I have ever had in my life. Thank you for making our special day even more special!!!

I have a new favorite wine place! Great atmosphere for conversation. Friendly professional staff, some were less polished than others. We made it to happy hour and tried six plates of different foods, I wouldn’t write home about it, but it was ok. Stick with the wine. Our group enjoyed quick and attentive servers. Overall no major complaints. Bathroom was fairly clean. Parking was the usual terrible scene that being down town is, five stars from us!

I've been here quite a few times. Their menu is smallish but all items are excellent. Hard to choose sometimes. As expected, they have a deep wine menu. I'm more of a beer and Scotch/Rye drinker so the wine doesn't get my notice.

I love this place. I've been for dinner, for just drinks, and for drinks and appetizers. All my experiences were wonderful. The atmosphere is a little swanky. The entrees are pricey but you get what you pay for. Simply put, it's a high-quality place. My favorite is to come for appetizers and drinks at the bar. This is my go-to when I'm downtown late at night and everything else is closed because they stay open late. Come for a planned date and make a reservation, come for a girl's night, or stop by late when hopping from one place to the next. Either way, you'll be pleased you did and eager to return.

They really do have the best wine list in town! I was surprised to even see a Missouri wine on their list. You can never call a wine list truly comprehensive but they sure get close! I love that you can get a half glass so I can truly pair my meal and be adventures. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly and the setting is perfect for date night or just relaxing.

Tannin Wine Bar offers a three course meal with wine pairings. Since it was our first visit we decided to give it a try. It was delicious and fun! We enjoyed getting to try wines we otherwise wouldn't likely have tried. Our favorite was the Stressor. They even print out your meal and wine selections to take home. That was above and beyond. Service was also excellent.

My husband and I came here for date night and it was lovely! We heard about it because of our friend, Hubbard Savage (an amazing local KC artist) who has his art featured at the restaurant. I had their wagyu beef burger with a spinach salad on the side - and it was absolutely delightful. The burger was cooked perfectly to order, and was not your average burger. It was spectacular. The vibe is modern classic, with candles lit on every table, and quiet enough for my husband and I to have great conversation over our meal. They have an EXTENSIVE wine menu - since we don't know anything about wine we asked our server and he was very helpful in offering suggestions that paired with our meals. He even knew the back-story of some of the farms/families the wines came from! I would recommend Tannin to everyone!

I went here with some friends the other day for happy hour. I want to say beers werent too bad and all glasses of wine were $2 off. The place is ok. The wine was good and food was tasty. To me it was just too expensive. We, SO and I, spent like $80 in about 2.5 hours of happy hour. It's good don't get me wrong but when I go for happy hour I don't want to spend that much.

The foods here is incredible! I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the steak and we could not stop eating! I also have a ton of allergies , so when we booked our reservation we left that in the comment section. When we arrived they had a menu with marks with what I could eat no problem or what they would do to substitute. Almost everything on the menu they could accommodate me. I have a gluten, dairy, and tomato allergy so I’m not the easiest customer to cater to but they made it seem less. Would highly recommend!!

Their lunch menu is a hidden gem - their burger is always spot-on and they always have a good selection of salads and entrees. Their large high backed booths are just as well suited to a business lunch as they are to a quiet date. (Also, for all of the nursing mommas, their booths are great for when your babe decides that it's meal time for them too!) Service is consistently friendly and attentive without being over the top. The lunch hour is usually fairly quiet, weekend dinner tends to be quite busy.

Found this spot when walking around downtown. They have a great outdoor patio. The wine selection is excellent, lots to choose from. It sounds like they have a pretty seasonal menu, I had the soup, a bisque which was really tasty and the wagu burger. Apparently it's a pretty popular burger considering they're not a burger spot. It was good, however next time I'd probably get something else. The service is excellent, very attentive, offered nice recommendations. Definitely worth a stop when you're in the area.

It's a nice place. But Google has it listed in the $$ price range. At $45 per person, and $50 for a glass of wine (yeah a glass, not a bottle) I don't know if I would consider it two dollar signs. There are some cheaper options though. Again, nice restaurant. If you're willing to pay for it, I suppose it's worth it. We were just hoping for something a little cheaper for a $$ rating.

Extensive wine by the glass and bottle selection, plus other adult beverages. If you'd like to taste a wine selection before ordering, the well trained waitstaff are very accommodating and helpful. There's also a variety of tasty food choices to accompany your drinks. We've never been disappointed with our food and drink in this lovely establishment & will return.

My husband and I had an especially great experience with a waiter, Orian, a couple weeks ago. It's one of my favorite places to go in KC.

We had wonderful service and food here. We went here for my wife’s birthday with a large group with a concert to attend later. They got our group in immediately (on a pretty busy night in the city) and our waitress, Kels, did a great job of taking care of the entire group, getting the food and drinks out, making sure that everyone was taken care of and even incorporating a birthday cake we brought in un-announced. She was absolutely polite and professional the entire time. The food and drinks are good (which is why we come back), but the service was excellent. Thanks, guys (and gals).
