REVIEWS OF Rye Plaza IN Kansas

Kevin Chen

Lemon meringue pie is amazing. Whiskey cocktails excellent. Thought the burnt end hash for brunch was too salty and monotonous in flavor. The fried chicken had an excellent crispy texture and was juicy, but requires dipping sauce for flavor. Braised short ribs were excellent. Overall, great restaurant. Will definitely miss when I leave KC.

Linda Clifford

Had an awesome dinner and appetizer. Goat cheese and honey on crackers (because we don't like sourdough). Yummy! Then dinner of chicken and dumplings just like my grandmother used to make. So, so good! 3rd pic- our patio view of the fountain.

Claudia Satterfield

Wonderful brunch menu-awesome company & perfect location. Food was wonderful & fresh!!

Terry Dougherty

Amazing dinner, beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, with great cocktails to match. My wife and I have been here a few times and have been impressed each time. The lighting makes for a cozy dining experience. The decorations are rustic yet elevated. We have yet to experience bad service and the staff has always been happy to help, which is usually hard to find. The muscles are a must order. They have changed the recipe to the muscles I have noticed but they are still very good. The pork chops are packed with flavor. The Mac and cheese is very creamy and savory. The wings... Are the only hot wings that I have tried that I actually like. The herb and sauce mixture is delightful. Even the spinach salad was packed with flavor and textures that made it a delight. I usually go for whiskey based cocktails and their selection of whiskey cocktails are indeed tasty and a large size for the price. Orange is a key theme in a few of them though so the variety of different flavor profiles is lacking in that department. Although, they do make drinks that are not on their menu. Prices: a bit on the expensive side, although that is subjectivity based on ones socioeconomic level. Main dishes are about 30 a plate. Side dishes are all 9 dollars each. Our dinner for 2 was about $150.00. (including tip and cocktails). Overall: if you are wanting a delicious dinner that is assured to fill you up, with excellent layers of taste, a warm atmosphere, and great service... Give Rye a try.

Always delicious and always a wonderful dining experience. Rye is the best of service paired with excellent food. The shrimp and grits and the fried chicken are constant delicious staples that always stay on the menu, however the rotating seasonal items never disappoint. The pies are to die for. One of my favorite restaurants in Kansas City.

Edward Straley

New location on the Plaza. Comfortable/relaxed atmosphere. Rye relies on Many local suppliers. Great pickeled vegetables for appetizers. Famous for their fried chicken. Some of the best you'll ever have and the best in Kansas City. What makes it the best? 1. The source of their supplier. 2. You taste the Chicken and not the seasoning, the most important part of the meal. Also do not pass up any of the deserts by Meghan, a James Beard Award Winning Pastry Chef. I enjoyed sharing the lemon meringue pie, smooth and a light richness that is just perfect...no acidic after taste. Enjoy your dinner you will not be disappointed. I have returned numerous times and tonight was one with friends from out of town. Again great service and atmosphere. And continuous quality of excellent food. Consistency is important, and Rye is that! Never to disappoint!

Erica Hayes Schultz

Went for dessert after a night out in the Plaza. Amazing pumpkin pie! Server was really good in helping us pair the wine with the dessert. Love the atmosphere too. When I come back to KC, definitely on my list!

Derek Thomas

This location of Rye is good. Definitely a far cry from Mission Farms. Service times were struggling as well as the food quality.

Jon Munro

Got the burnt end hash for breakfast and it was just ok. Ordered a pancake on the side to cheer me up. Can’t go wrong with a pancake. Update - since my first time being there I have gone back a few times (thanks to my wife she loves it here). I never got the hash again but I’ve been getting a cinnamon roll, scrambled eggs, bacon and fresh squeezed OJ. Let me tell ya I love it. My original review was just from me ordering the wrong thing on the menu. This place is amazing. Their bacon is smoked with apple wood and it is the best bacon be ever had (acknowledging that all bacon is delicious). Cinnamon rolls are excellent too. Great atmosphere. This place is my new favorite

Jeff Bruntzel

Great food amazing atmosphere just what you want on a cold winter Sunday brunch with family or friends.....

Treva DIVA Henderson

It was good except we were told with s group like ours the don't measure, the meat warmth. Made since why she never asked us how we wanted our steak. Overall nice place red cabernet wine was awesome.

Travis Thonen

3.5. Still wish Google would do half stars. Overall really good addition to the pass plaza boring standard. Excellent staff. Very quick service and even when they were busy they were helpful. We love the local sourced foods. The fried chicken was amazing. The sides however while good were low in flavor. Now the desert. We heard one of the owners was a party pastry chef. Oh my Lord you can tell. The dessert made up for every single issue period. Side note, not an issue for us but if you drink prepare to pay around $100 for food for two.

DS B

Cute atmosphere, great service, eclectic menu, and yummy food. Their bbq and hot sauces are delicious - we bought some for home.

Kristin Harvey

The service was great, the environment was welcoming and clean, and the food and drinks were wonderful! Definitely recommend this place!

Stephene Garrett

The Rye give you that good down home feeling, and the food is delicious.

Kevin Chen

Elyssa Walsh

Came here for our wedding anniversary and had a magical experience. The food is SO flavorful and the cocktails were the best I’ve ever had. I loved the atmosphere and how well we were treated by the staff. It’s comfort food at a very high end price. But the flavors make it worth the price. They don’t just overcharge for average food. It’s expert level cooking and worth the extra dollars. Also don’t skip dessert!!! :)

Robert Hazelwood

Great food though it is easy to run up your tab.

Terry Holmes

Just ate there today! Great food, fun atmosphere, friendly staff. Will go back.

Hyler C. Cooper

This place is legit. Food was amazing. Great Bourbon list, great cocktails. Steak was unreal and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back.

Becky Rosazza

Incredible food and staff and they played the best music!!! Heard it was the new manager who is in charge of that! She rocks!

Turning Leaf

Great food! I got their omelet of the day and it was delicious! (I threw some of their very own hot sauce as well) and the service was fast and very nice. The food was a little expensive for breakfast, but it will probably be one of the best breakfasts you'll eat lol.

Bryan Wohlwend

Amazing food. Fun atmosphere. Good drinks.

Jessica Hutchinson

Good brunch/breakfast menu.Very clean and nice service!

Steve Messick

Great Sunday brunch

Boon Lee

I was disappointed...ordered clam chowder soup and salad (added salmon). The potatoes were not cooked and the clams were like rubber. The menu was limited. For the prices and location (Plaza), I expected more.

Megan Knapp

Service was really slow. I don’t blame the server, he was busy, I blame management. You should anticipate high traffic on Sundays. We waited a long time for our food. The eggs benedict was way overpriced for what it was. There was literally almost no ham or hollandaise and it was lukewarm at best. Like... really? Rye could be cool, but I’m really disappointed after paying $20 for a subpar experience.

Linda Clifford

Had an awesome dinner and appetizer. Goat cheese and honey on crackers (because we don't like sourdough). Yummy! Then dinner of chicken and dumplings just like my grandmother used to make. So, so good! 3rd pic- our patio view of the fountain.

Christine Inglin

Wonderful dinner and atmosphere. Love Sunday steak night!

Dakalia Johnson

Been wanting to try Rye since it popped up on my list. Got to say I was not disappointed. Decided to bring my mom here for an early mother's day brunch, we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a little on the high side, but honestly the portion sizes are wonderful. My husband didn't even finish his chicken sandwhich which was actually pretty good. Decor is lovely and atmosphere is wonderful and chill!

Patricia Schoenrade

Very gracious service and delicious food. The shrimp and grits is amazing!

Jason White

Whoever did the interior decorating for Rye should get a raise. So many textures and things to look at while you enjoy your meal! Rustic but classy. Very cool place. Drinks were great! Food was well prepared, well presented, and tasty!!! Servers were attentive, kind, and on-the-ball throughout the dinner experience. This is another gem of a restaurant located on our beautiful Country Club Plaza!

K Kuo

We really like the breakfast dishes from this place. My son ordered salmon and I ordered one single buttermilk pancake. Both were delicious. I love the decor and location of this place. Our server was really nice and courteous. Highly recommended if you are in the area. This place is located next to PFChang. I was lucky enough to park my car on the street but I heard from my friends there is another public parking right around the corner. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely come back for more breakfast.

Alley Stonestreet

The new location for Brogen and crew is so great! The space is very inviting with all the open windows, subway tile work, and casual attire, it all looks so nice. Went for the brunch and was not disappointed. Those apple fritters with caramel sauce was better than expected. That B&G with house made sausage gravy is definitely something to try, yum! Great experience, absolutely recommend for a nice treat or fancy date night.

Ricardo Montez III

The most exciting adventure of our trip! We'll definitely be going back there.

Andrew Meyer

I really enjoyed dining at Rye. We came for brunch on a Saturday. As we read online, the cinnamon rolls are really good. Super fluffy and really delightful. For food, I ordered the burnt end hash. I would definitely order again. Very flavorful and delicious. Not my favorite burnt ends, but everything else was so good it was okay. The space is very nice--beautifully decorated and very inviting. Great place.

Radian Trild

Subpar quality and shamelessly expensive. $17 for hush puppies, $18 for the smallest fried chicken meal (all the way up to $40 for a whole chicken), and $9 for sides (fries, baked potato etc). I honestly cannot believe a place like this can exist in KC when there are so many better options.

Kushal Shah

Just came here to grab a credit card that was left.

JoAnne Owens

Best trout I have ever had. Also loved the pineapple upside down cake. Others in our party had pork chop, filet, shrimp and grits. All was very good. Great atmosphere, but a little noisy.

Dorian Leonard

Excellent service. Food was outstanding.

Brock Foley

Rye is really really good. And incredibly well decorated. Gorgeous restaurant. Fantastic food. The fried chicken is amazing. The service is also exceptional. And wow. Get the brownies. They are amazing. The cheesecake brownie is just out of this world. I am a really big fan of Rye and would recommend it to anyone.

Chase Nelson

Rye has the best brunch I've had in KCMO. I ordered the steak & eggs and crepes and both were amazing. I had read that they had the best S&E and that is no lie. Definitely stop in if you haven't.

Mimi Baber

Went here for lunch with a friend. The coffee was delicious, the whipped goat cheese starter was AMAZING, entree and dessert were also really good. Highly recommend! Also the service was great!

Jacob Rose

The hash browns are next level!

Anna Gore

Great service and food!

Hunter Thomas

My wife and I had an excellent time at Rye. We shared the whipped goat cheese appetizer. I had the burnt end hash and she had the eggs Benedict. The appetizer was absolutely fantastic, hitting a great balance of sweet, salty, savory, and acidic between the honeyed goat cheese, the prosciutto, and the salad with pickled onions and radish slices. Her brunch was just as good as any classic eggs Benedict could be, perfect poached eggs with a creamy hollandaise. My lunch item was delicious, hearty, and filling. Although not quite spicy enough for me, a quick addition of hot sauce made it all come together. We will definitely be bringing our parents here during the holidays for breakfast.

Kelly Wilkerson

Amazing new addition to the Plaza! Delicious food and wonderful ambience! Loved the Shrimp & Grits and Whipped Goat Cheese! It was a great night! Looking forward to our next visit!

Mary Wano

Our Salvajor Company Christmas party was at the Plaza location on December 1st. Our wait staff was amazing, and we closed the place down.

David Deckert

I met some collegues for lunch here and it was my first visit to this location. With a couple of options that looked interesting, the waiter recommended the BBQ sandwich. A little pensive, I decided to give it a try as I'm not generally inclined to order BBQ at a fancy plaza restaurant. Regardless, it was actually pretty good and probably the most unique looking BBQ sandwich in KC. The service and ambiance were excellent as expected.

Ryan Wilhoit

Excellent farm to table food in a modern farmhouse setting that would impress Joanna & Chip Gains!

Kolika Simmons

I'm THRILLED to have a location so closer to me. Rye has been a staple in Kansas City for amazing food for some time now, and the minds behind it are wonderful people themselves, active in the community and respected. They are, of course, the minds behind Bluestem, another prominent restaurant in the area. The food, of course, reflects that. They have an AMAZING space on the plaza. They have an open kitchen, a bakery window so you can take home some of their famous pies and cakes, and more. Everything is delicious, and they do accommodate to dietary restrictions.

Siyi Wang

We ordered the fried chicken which is famous here. It’s great but a little pricey. The asparagus is delicious!

Jeremy Cook

One of my favorites when I'm in town. Good cocktails. food is great, although I've only ordered the salmon everytime I'm there

Daniel Cross

Our brunch was excellent even though one from our party was running late they still allowed us to order from the brunch menu. Amazing service and the food was to die for.

Adam Miller

I would be perfect if you had turkey sausage! Other thth that, perfect!

Aubrey Elliott

Amazing all around! Great food, great service, and the bourbon selection is absolutely amazing!! :)

"Upscale Hipster Comfort Food" in a great environment (and *legit* fried chicken!) So, yeah, it's "comfort food" - think fried chicken, mac 'n cheese, salads rich w/ cheese and salmon, grilled pork loin, flank steak, etc. etc. It's "Hipster-y" in that all of this is done with a little bit of flair, a little bit of panache, and a *lot* of love. It's "Upscale" not necessarily in the prices (though they are a *little* bit higher than you'd expect, thoughnot crazy. Put it all together, and it's a wonderful place to just hang out. The waitstaff is excellent, friendly, welcoming, and, well, just *fun*! Add in a really good wine list, and well, i'd happily come back here again and again! (BTW, the fried chicken is *legit*)

William Grove

Great atmosphere, terrific wait staff and wait for it. The best fried chicken Ever!!!! Also the mashed potatoes are to die for.

Emily Philpot

Over priced, stunning environment, just under excellent food - except the fried chicken. 5 star fried chicken, quite possibly the best I've ever had. Terrible appetizers, good shrimp & grits. Rediculously priced sides. * * * Detailed Review: While the food was thoughtfully curratedin a kitchen that is obviously run with tactful culinary expectation, from a voice of modern southern cuisine, some items didn't quite hit the mark. Terrible appetizer, cold breads, and absurdly priced sides. An app, two short pour glasses of the cheapest red and white wine, two entrees and two sides was $101 dollars. While a nice restaurant- not quite impressive enough for that price. App: Fried gizzards and livers. Needed salt desperately. No amount of table salt post-fry could save them. Gizzards are admittantly difficult to make well due, but Rye did not rise to the challenge. They were painfully under seasoned and chewy, not burnt but over Cooked. Perhaps they were Cooked in the same fry as the livers? They needed different cook times. The livers were fine as far as cook, but again severely under seasoned. The gravy that came with it was fine and forgetable, but together with the spicy house sauce was interesting and complex; thin, sweet, with heat at the end, the only way to make the gizzards somewhat palettable. My husband swore the house sauce tasted like like canned tobacco, but I never did find that note. Free rolls and cornbread: Came room temp which was dissapointing. How do you spread cold butter on a room temp item? Nothing special. Average sweet corn bread muffin and and fluffy dinner roll. No better than jiffy corn muffin and cafeteria diner roll. While a free table item, an important token of credibility for a restaurant of southern cuisine; so, negatively impactful on the overall experience and opinion. Fried chicken Rediculously moist. Five stars. This was obviously brined extensively and Lord knows what other techniques to retain the moisture. Seasoned well with a thick extra crispy, but not burnt, coating. My husband also very much enjoyed the lightly pickeld house pickles that came with the chicken as a garnish. Highly recommend. Appropriately priced for what was served. Shrimp and grits This is my dish of choice at any southern oriented restaurant, constantly looking to beat my favorite dish from a restaurant in Louisiana (Restaurant Cotton: Monroe, La) This is the closest I have found in Kansas City. Well seasoned, Small grain grits with a sweet / savory, gravy like broth. Hints of Worcestershire and tomato and perhaps a dab of their house bbq sauce or straight sugar. Slightly too sweet for my taste, and wishing for just a dash more savory complexity - but I'm looking for things to pick at. The shrimp were surprisingly sizeable, but the SHORTEST amount over cooked as there was the slightest bit more 'chew' than desired or expected. But none the less, I would recommend and would order again. Sides: 9 dollars for a side. Absurdly over priced. 9 dollars for a bake potato no different than any loaded potato from a chain steak house. The mac and cheese was delicious, the bacon and crumb coating added the perfect amount of texture and the sophistication. The bechamel sauce was smooth. Would recommend the Mac and cheese, except the price. With $40 KC Strips on the menu (that even the waiter didn't recommend ), you would think they were obtaining plenty of menu profit to not charge 500% for a potato.

Cheryl Kitchens

The roasted trout with green beans and almonds was just about the best thing I've ever eaten!

Carlene Carter

Great place and the plaza has a good atmosphere

Chase Nelson

Chad Santer

Very nice decor, lovely service and great food. All the wait staff is very friendly. The black tea is delicious loose leaf. I’ve been told their Cinnamon rolls are top notch but haven’t had the chance to try one yet.

Renee Pulse

Fun atmosphere, has a bakery with great desserts. For dinner we had the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and homemade dill pickles it was wonderful. Very pleased. For dessert lemon meringue and banana cream pie...we will be back it was a great little find..

robert Pfeiffer

Not a great start. It's Fountain Day in Kansas City. I got here right at opening to enjoy a view. There only one other guest. I requested a table at the widow. Host would not accommodate me, apparently because I was alone. Instead, offered a tiny table against the wall. So, I said maybe next time and left. I hear the food and service is very good. I may be back. We'll see.

Aleli Goodwine

Awesome service.

Mimi Baber

Went here for lunch with a friend. The coffee was delicious, the whipped goat cheese starter was AMAZING, entree and dessert were also really good. Highly recommend! Also the service was great!

Lety MtzR

Great food and great service.

Steve Sage

Food and service was good. Atmosphere was loud. Not a romantic type place. Had to sit right next to other parties and listen to their conversations.

Margaret Schultz

Had a wonderful experience at Rye Plaza. The food was delicious and wait staff was excellent! We are going for a second time tonight.

Katie Prewitt

Delicious food and great service.

Jill Masson

If you haven't been to Rye on The Plaza, you need to get there and fast. What an amazing restaurant and experience! Absolutely loved it from start to finish. Top notch staff and the food is simply the best. Love the pies! Get one to take home with you when you are finished with your tasty fried chicken (can't be beat!), steaks and much, much more. Good comfort food.

Jeff Six

Upscale restaurant with great food and service. I had the Berkshire pork chop and my wife had a salmon dinner and our son had fried chicken. Their coconut cream pie was some of the best I've had.

Kevin

Great ambiance. They did an incredible job renovating the place. Food is delicious. They serve breakfast all week long!

Amy Goforth

Unfortunately, breakfast at Rye was very disappointing. We sat outside and the service was slow and inattentive. Food was cold and subpar, at best.

Savanna Fernandez

The fried chicken is amazing! The chicken and dumplings has the potential to be really good but it was lacking flavor and the roasted chicken was dry despite being covered with gravy.

Frances Windler

This establishment offers lovely food and service above par.You want to treat yourself or a loved one? Go to Rye.

David Kroeger

The mothership of delicious, reasonably priced farm to table food. Fried chicken and lemon meringue pie are must haves. Happy hour is great.

Lonnie Kinder

One of the best places to eat on the plaza. Steak night is the $hit

A.M. Stroh

New to town; I’ve been here twice. Cool place, great vibe. First visit I sat at bar for Sunday brunch and ordered the burned tips, eggs, etc with a mimosa. It was delicious and the bar tender was a pleasure. Second visit I wanted to surprise my husband with the same meal because it was so good before; it was take out breakfast since he works night shifts. I returned home to find the food was disappointing to say the least . At least half of the tips were scraps of fat and inedible. How anyone could serve that is beyond me. Spent a good amount of money for 2 entrees which ended up in the trash. Based on take out experience I’d give it a 1 because the other items were good but my first visit was much better.

Austin Gentry

We recently ate here for a wedding rehearsal. The backroom which was rented out was spacious, nice atmosphere, and had a full bar. The whole area was very private. We at steak (perfectly cooked), macaroni and cheese (yum), and the works best bellpepper vegetable mix. Seriously, do yourself a favor and eat here. If you are planning an event, make sure to consider this venue!

dan ross

Birthday party, and the food and service phenomenal!

Matt Rolfes

Food and service were good but slightly more expensive than it probably should have been for the quality. Went for brunch and it gets busy so be prepared to wait for your food. They also don't serve cold brew.

Molly Barlow

Walked there on a super hot day. Sat at the bar. There were three people behind the bar working. I waited at the bar for 5 min or more sweating and thirsty. The bar staff walked by me three times made eye contact and served the people around me but never stopped to give me a menu and offer me a glass of water. It was not busy. All I wanted was a glass of water, wine, and dinner. I left because no one acknowledged me.

Bryan Arri

I came here to try the fried chicken because my friends couldn’t stop raving about it, and they were so right! The experience, service, and evening were wonderful! The cocktail “Old Square” is delicious, and they have a very large spirits collection. I’ll be back!

Victoria Midgorden

Best KC strip I’ve ever had. Everything was delicious. Our server, Daniel, was great.

Frankz Jacobsen

Great service food was not. Expected more

Ashley White

Farm-to-table goodness! Attentive staff, great ambiance. Great Plaza location!

Kristin Whitehair

Delicious goat cheese appetizer and quinoa salmon salad. Helpful staff too.

peter Cockrell

First off our Server Max was awesome had great suggestions and helped make it a special night. On to the food... the trout was amazing light and so delicious packed full of flavor. My fiance had the shrimp and grits which was hearty, savory, and cooked perfectly. The sugar cream pie was kind of like creme brulee pie... also the Old Square drink I got was amazing. Highly recommend.

Jawad Akhtar

This was my first visit to the Plaza location. I have been to the Mission Farms location before and had a great experience. This experience, however, left a lot to be desired. We were greeted nicely enough and led to a table. Our server seemed nice. I ordered the daily grind burger (medium). Once the food arrived, the first thing I noticed was that the burger was dry. It is supposedly made from the trimmings of their steaks but there was hardly any fat in it (not what I expected). And it was a little overdone (more like a medium well). In retrospect, I would rather go to Five Guys for a burger than order one at Rye again and 3 times the price. Our server never checked on us again at all. Eventually, as we sat there waiting for our check, our plates still in front of us after at least 15 minutes of being done, she stopped by. She assumed we had already paid our tab (although she never brought it) and were good to go. I had to ask for the tab so we could pay. A very disappointing experience after the visit to the Mission Farms location. Probably won't be visiting again.

april beautylife

Beautiful brunch here. Definitely will return!

Viyan Udawatta

Great cocktails. The bartender uses atypical ingredients that lead to interesting but delicious cocktails. The hospitality is very good. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and was enthusiastic. Service is fantastic. I would gladly come here again!

J DL

Extensive whiskey selection, house made food, dips, and sauces. Slightly pricey but worth it. Food was amazing. Saturday bloody Mary bar with lots of toppings.

Nick Tremonti

Been to the Rye twice now and both times there were serious issues. 6 months ago I came here with a friend for brunch and was excited as the place looks very nice on the inside and the menu items looked good. We ordered our meal at the same time, and my dish came out about 20 minutes later but my friend's was not quite ready. They assured us that it would only be a few minutes and that was fine. I ended up finishing my meal entirely before my friends dish arrived. The bar tender was very apologetic and nice and ended up comping the entire meal. On 9/12 I brought my mom here who lives out of town and we found a seat at the bar no problem. There were some people there but I wouldn't say they were packed by any means. It took quite a long time for the bartender to acknowledge us since he was busy with some friends at the end of the bar and was tending to their needs. He came and took our drink orders and he informed me that the wine I had chosen was not available, that was fine and he recommended a different wine and it came right up. When they dropped of the drinks we then ordered an appetizer (blue crab cakes) I think, and nothing really stood out with them. They came with a spicy ranch type of sauce that I felt did not go well with them and they might have been under cooked. The bar tender recommended using their house made BBQ sauce and it was excellent. We finished our appetizer after about 15 minutes and waited for our entrees to arrive. About 45 minutes go by and we ask what is taking so long and if they forgot to put our order in. He said they were plating our food right now and that the kitchen was backed up. About 10 minutes later the food came up so I doubt it was being plated as it took so long. The person who dropped off the food said it was some 50% off night for plaza residents and that was why the wait was so long. We never really got a sincere apology and were never offered anything to make up for the hour wait it took to receive the entrees. I was also never offered a 2nd glass of wine and one would think that at $15 a glass that they would be pushing to pour you another glass. Typically you would ask someone if they would like another glass when it just gets a little low. I had the steak and while it was excellent, it does not make up for the long wait and lack of trying to take care of the situation. I understand stuff happens, but your in the customer service industry and failed terribly. I won't be coming back and it's too bad since the food is good but service and timing are just too much of a risk. I was also surprised that a manager didn't bring the food out personally or come by and apologize for the long wait as I feel this is customary in the industry.

stan allison

Pie ala a mode. Now theres a Joke! Ever get a little plastic cup of butter to go with bread? Maybe an ounce? Thats what I got for ice cream. And that cost me $9 bucks. Rip off. And dont ask Stehpan to put it out AFTER you get your bill. Spent 5 minutes BSing at the other end of the bar instead of serving when I had specifically asked him to get rhe bill processed BEFORE the dessert came out. Guess I wasnt as important as those other patrons he was BSing with. By that time..... the ounce of ice cream was melted. As I had expected. Wont be coming back nor recommending this place to friends.

Michelle Zamora

Food was great, service was quick and they were able to accommodate our toddler daughter. We sat outside and had a nice view of the fountain. A little on the expensive side but location was well worth it.

Shelly LaRose

Local favorite.

Went there on a Saturday at 2:30 and had a great time! Biscuits and gravy were awesome and that brunch cocktail (bees knees) was spot on. Loved it and want to go back.

Adan Ruiz

Great atmosphere, delicious drinks, friend chicken is amazing.

Matt Peppes

Great service and amazing food as usual! I finally got to try this new location down on the Plaza and the atmosphere was awesome. The bar and seating areas were massive and everything was spaced out perfectly. The best part was the deserts counter, now you can sneak a look at all the delicious sweets!

Celeste Lupercio

That was the best pulled pork sandwich!

Cheryl Hass

Delicious steaks and service!

Emily Hoagland

This is such a cute restaurant! They have the best cinnamon rolls you'll ever try in your life, and their entrees are fantastic. Loved everything.

Went twice in two days. Fantastic restaurant experience. Service was a little less than excellent. But the food was fantastic.

Ryan Bucher

Old square to drink is fantastic. loved the pumpkin soup. Had Prime ribeye - wow!

Brian Tennyson

I've been to the one at Mission Farms and really enjoyed it This one is fantastic and my new favorite. Party of five around 2pm on a Sunday. Great views of the JC Nicols fountain. Everyone was happy with menu, and it's a diverse group. Prices seem a little high, but the quality of food backs it up. Can't tell you how please I am that we finally tried this place. Structured parking is in the building to the north.

Joel Snyder

When I'm able to go to the Rye Plaza, I'd love to see what they have to offer me when that time arrives... :)

Was not a very accommodating place to have a nice dinner out. Small table and just have to wait like everybody else is what they told us as we showed up to our reservation. The staff members that sat us were rude and we didn’t want to eat at a place that treats their customers that.

Rye simply makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Vintage and modern mixed together in stylish form. The service top notch. The food never disappoints. I frequent the Leawood location often as the menu and the atmosphere draw me back again and again. Rye Plaza has the same comfortable feel and draw. This was my first visit for the new location. I simply stopped in for dessert and coffee at the bar. Simply amazing in every way.

Waldo G

Charming and quiet mid-size restaurant, serving quality ingredients. Absolutely recommend again.

Ivy Hagedorn

Great vibe, great food, and a nice looking bakery to boot. Had the Shrimp & Grits and they were packed with flavor!

I had the fried chicken which was very good. It did sort of suffer from the skin and breading trying to completely fall off with each bite, but the house made gravy and solid selection of bourbon more than made up for it.

Stopped by for happy hr and we asked for happy hr Cabernet. Ordered burnt end and fries. Was shocked to find bill was $72. Brought to servers attention and was told we don't have happy hr Cabernet. I asked why didn't you tell us that when we ordered and she shrugged her shoulders and walked away. Needless to say will never return.

Tomahawk ribeye is amazing

Tristan Laughlin

I really love the theme here. A homey feeling setting with an open pastry kitchen. Sat at the chefs counter and had Hamm’s on tap! A real treasure. Try the beef tartare, it’s a good one! Will be back :)

First visit. Just had brunch... Great place. Steak and eggs are wonderful. Our new favorite.

Courtney Weigand

Great service and great filling food in a fun atmosphere. We both got the fried chicken and it was amazing. I was too full for dessert, but was able to take lemon meringue pie to-go and it was delicious four hours later.

Diana Boon

The fried green tomatoes were amazing! Sat at kitchen bar counter for a salad and appetizer. Great view of the park across the street.

Niq Howard

Excellent spot. I had brunch here. Able to order both breakfast and lunch I tried a couple of items. My favorite was the cinnamon roll. Makes a great appetizer because it's light and not small. Perfect for sharing a little bite.

Andy Caraway

Good food. Slow but consistent service. Nice vibe. Busy place but not overly.

Cranny Lass

We loved the atmosphere and the service, is just perfect. The food is very good, even I am still open to give a second chance as the pasta w pulled pork that I had the first time was not pleasant at all. Good thing was that our waitress realized of that and he didn’t charge us for it. Ready to go back!

Mike Currie

Excellent food, excellent service!

Ann Alexander

Delightful attentive service, wonderful mouthfuls of just right food. Fluffy buttery iced warm cinnamon rolls, crispy potato cakes, and the lightly dressed salad greens! Yum! Do not miss the lemon cake or confetti cake.

Jennifer Wyse

Rye never disappoints. Brunch, lunch, or dinner, there's something here for everyone, and they deliver consistently lovely, comforting food.

Liz Cissner

Great food, great service. Seriously... stuffed.

Cyril Philip

Decent Brunch spot in the CCP area. Although the omelet I got really wasn’t much of an omelet rather than just a folded thin piece of egg. I would probably avoid it- however the Giant Cinnamon Roll is amazing and I would definitely get one if you are there.

Andy Rauseo

Food was awesome...service not so great. Server took their sweet time, it was crowded but still. I think they should be doing a little better in at least passing by and making sure everything was ok.

Adaline Marinda

I had a fabulous dinner at Rye Plaza! I'm impressed with the interior design of the restaurant, it is just like what you see in a magazine. We had the Cornmeal Battered Quail, Egg Benedict with Smoked Salmon, and the food is so delicious! We also ordered the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich and Donuts as our desserts. I will definitely visit this place again!

Lon Jennings

The flavors were fresh and incredibly unique combinations. More expensive than I expected walking in off the street. The prices were the only surprise but extraordinary flavors and choices. Worth it!!

Michael Rochester

Really cool place. Excellent artisanal seasonal dishes made with great local ingredients. Always seem to get great friendly service here too. If you want to go eat on the Plaza this is the spot to be

David DeMelo

They should change the name to cracker. 9:45 am on a Saturday several empty tables inside and out. The hostess asked me “ can I help you?” “ well this is a restaurant I suppose I would like to eat.” “I’m sorry we’re full you can sit at the bar. “. The bar was full but there were at least 13 tables. I don’t suppose this has anything to do with the two black women who where just infront of me. The hostess was telling them to try eggtc down the street no offer of a wait.

Liza cartwright

I love your salmon dish. Please don't ever take it off the menu. Great cocktails

Diana Boon

Great food and service

I have been here for dinner twice and both times were INCREDIBLE! Went in for brunch on sunday and lets just say brunch is not their thing. I had very high expectations because again their dinner is great, but I was not impressed with the brunch. We ordered a cinnamon roll to start and it was the most basic cinnamon roll and just warm at best. Sent it back. I ordered the french toast and again nothing special, no real flavor and bread was kind of dry, biscuits and gravy were the same. Eggs Benedict were great Moral of the story-quality of brunch is just “meh” so I wouldnt recommend but for sure a must go for dinner. Service was excellent and I love the space.

I want to preface this review with the statement that I have eaten at the Rye in Leawood many many times and LOVED it. Today we decided to try the Plaza location for brunch. The restaurant looks amazing and the seating is very comfortable albeit a tad bit crowded. We started with a cinnamon roll. It was delicious minus the hair we found in it. They promptly replaced it, apologized and comped a new one. The more crowded the place got the slower our service got. When our food arrived we had to wait over a very long time for items that were forgotten (butter, gravy, jam - all things that were requested when we ordered .) We finally just started eating because we assumed it was never coming. When the waiter returned the butter was ice cold, the jam was not what we had requested and the cottage fries/gravy were cold. Overall it was a pretty disappointing experience considering the exceptional quality of the other location. I'm giving a 3 because the food deserves a 4 because their food always tastes so damn good but the speed of service brought it down. Maybe this location is still working out a few kinks with brunch service. I'm not giving up hope though!!

Brandon Haney

Nice place a little difficult to navigate but once you find the parking garages it's not too bad to walk from place to place. Very expensive shops

Nancy Gillard

Great service. Shout out to our server Kyle. Go on Sunday night for Steak night. Appetizer, steak, sides, and dessert $40. A great deal. My friend took advantage of the steak deal and raved. I chose the chicken and dumplings. These were drop dumplings not "southern" rolled dumplings. I like the dropped dumplings so I was excited when my meal came. Unfortunately the dumplings were not cooked through so they were dense and nearly raw. I'll definitely go back to Rye, especially for the steak and coconut cream pie.

Brian Peterman

Their fried chicken and ribs are pretty good. Staff was nice but had some issues severing a large crowd.

Brad Rieschick

Brunch menu is outstanding. Best spot on the plaza for lunch.

Kristin Burns

Completely ignored by the wait staff and steak not cooked correctly

Scoutk Bartholomew

Love the gizzards and livers! The drinks alone make me want to come back again and again!

Maria Conradt

First time at Rye on the Plaza. Tasty! Would go back again.

Caleb Sommerville

Really really good food, fantastic decor. Probably the best eggs benedict I've ever had.

Kristen Erickson

Amazing service!

Ann Dickey

delicious Americana fare. pricey but pie at happy hour is great and the drip coffee is a custom Rye blend from the Roasterie

KD Playz

Great customer services great food
