Excellent food. We arrived a hour before restaurant closing time and food on buffet still great. They brought fresh naan bread to table. Server kept our drinks refreshed. This is a must visit if you like Indian food. If you've never tried Indian food, you got to go here. Lots of choices on buffet. Comfortable atmosphere. Not overly crowded.

We ate at Rajmahal's lunch buffet today and were really impressed! The food was fresh and well-prepared, the service was professional and friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. Excellent food and variety! Don't let the location deter you, it's well worth a visit.

Arrived late 9:00 on Wednesday evening. No customers & a little hestitant to try new restaurant if no one except staff is there. I found Rajmahal via Yelp, Around Me app & Google maps. Now, I understand why there are over 200 reviews with 4.3 average. I was greeted immediately upon entering by a gentleman (not sure if he is owner or manager). His only desire was my comfort & dining pleasure. I tried the Raj Veg platter, amazing!!! For dinner, shrimp byranni. He asked about spice. Not having eaten there or authentic Indian for several years, I said medium. Then said, American medium. Later, I noticed on my ticket "mild". He did a really great job, I felt like royalty.

The food tastes great but don't order the shrimp curry to be delivered, we made this mistake twice now. The first time they only put 5 pieces of shrimp and this time they only put 4 pieces. For $16.00 for the shrimp, I would expect more shrimp. We placed our order through grubhub so that we could have them delivered because my mother loves indian food. Being that she is partially disabled and doesn't walk very well, we ordered it today for her birthday. I spent $60 on two meals and we were so disappointed in the portion. I called the restaurant to let them know and they did offer to remake another order but I would need to drive all the way back out to their location to pick it up. The reason we had it delivered is because we couldn't drive out there. It's unfortunate but we will no longer order from this place again. The food does taste good but not worth the price.

Can you give 0 stars? If you like easting cabbage that is burnt; chicken that is raw; this is the place to go because they'll slice a kebab into 3 pieces and place it on a ton of cabbage. Their portion size is super small and everything is overpriced. It is very rare that I give a review like this. But this experience was probably the wort ever. I'd also like to mention the fact that their treatment of customers is bias. It's based on racial and ethnic backgrounds. The indoor staff/cook came out thrice to ask another family how they liked the food and did not visit our table even once. Will visit again and will not recommend.

When I first heard about this place, I was so excited to hear that it is so close to my new house! It's definitely hidden though... it's located in a old worn out strip mall right off hwy 35 and Sante Fe. The restaurant itself needs lots of TLC, the carpet, walls, and ceiling looks so worn out! I've been here a few times in the last 6 months or so and the service was extremely slow but the staff were friendly. The food takes forever to arrive however, it is very good! Warning - the food is quite spicy compared other Indian restaurants in the area. I originally rated this restaurant a 3 but I'm giving it a 4 due to the chai! SO GOOD!! Probably the best I've had without having to add the sugar myself! Don't leave without trying the chai - you can thank me later!

I've never had Indian food before today, so take my food rating into little consideration; There were plenty of Chicken-based dishes (No beef or pork) with a variety of sauces/spices. On the cold side, they had onion-based dishes. Their Chi tea was good. None of the flavor groups were ones I am familiar with however, definitely not bad. Staff was great. Very friendly and had a good handle on the needs of our table (drink refills, bread refills, etc.) Atmosphere is more business casual. Quieter than the average restaurant.

Very good food. I always get the spinach with cheese cubes. Tasted great. All waiters were nice and refilled our drinks all the time. My boyfriend got cold and they offered to turn the A/C down. Very attentive. Great calm atmosphere. The Mango Lassi tastes so good.

This was my third try at this restaurant and I continue to have a very mixed experience (to be fair, all three visits have been to their lunch buffet). The environment is tastefully decorated and the place is clean. However, the charm ends at that point. If you get to the buffet early, they have a decent selection of food, but if you get there after its been going on a bit, good luck. Overall, the food selections were ok, but nothing too great. The amount in each serving dish was small and not refreshed, so once it was gone, you're just out of luck. The temperature is not well controlled so the food becomes tepid. The person clearing dishes was rude and abrupt, almost to the point of being hostile. For the third visit, the results have been consistent. There are other, better, Indian joints nearby.

He was in a rush to clean up our glasses, and get us out of there... So the question is weather I liked the food enough to deal with the rude service... probably not.

Lunch buffet was good. Price is comparable. Has decent amount of choices. The host is attentive and on top of things. Just make sure to come right at lunch time. I’ve gone for lunch at 11:45 and at 2:00pm and what a big difference! The food is drying up towards the end and some chafing dishes were almost gone or empty but you’re still charged the same price. That’s the reason for the 4 stars.

My husband and I are from New Orleans where we loved the Indian restaurant Nirvana. We were so pleased to see the same chef/owner with a location in Olathe! The food is fabulous but if you have a groupon for a dinner here - beware- it will not be honored. My husband and I ate dinner with another couple and ordered over $75 worth of food to receive $25 off with the coupon. We were told it would not be honored despite the coupon not having an expiration date. It was quite disappointing.

We've had Door Dash deliver about 3 times in the last 4 weeks... The Chicken Tikka Masala is addictive! Love the naan bread....cauliflower appetizer is very good. So happy to have discovered this place...it's the best Indian food I've ever had...I think about it throughout the week actually! I also look for restaurants that read and reply to reviews...I think it shows they care.

Holy Bollywood Love Story, Batman! I'm about to uproot my family and move to Olathe for the sole purpose of being closer to this restaurant. I couldn't make up my mind when I flipped to the back and discovered two chefs choice sampler options! Yaaaaaas! I ordered the non vegetarian one and was thrilled with the results! Every single thing was amazing! My husband ordered the chicken tikka masala with spicy heat and said it was spot on! We highly recommend eating here. They also do take out and have partnered with popular delivery services to make it super convenient to enjoy. Must try!

I read that their goat curry was really good, but I didnt think it was all that! It definitely wasnt bad either -- it just had some little bones in it which I didnt like. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be back!

The food was excellent. I had the malai kofta—dumplings were exquisite! So tasty. Sauce was divine. Tandoori roti was the best I’ve had! Wish I could make it that good. The lassis were delicious! I had three...is that evidence enough? Restaurant was clean and elegantly set. Service was not quick, but it was excellent. The food was worth the extra time, so don’t come expecting to eat quickly. Even so, you won’t be disappointed, that’s for sure. Whomever is in the back kitchen is a well-kept culinary secret. The two of us ate until we about popped—all for $36.00, tip not included. What a treat!

They have a really good all you can eat dinner buffet on Sundays from 5-9pm. Their butter chicken is amazing. For an Indian restaurant there food is not very spicy, just right for me. And all you can eat warm naan bread brought to your table. We go whenever we can, and are never disappointed:)

My family ate here and tried a variety of their dishes. We have 10-year old twins who don't always care for Indian food, so they had a couple of the soups and loved them. My wife and I tried them, as well, and they were wonderful. We also had the curry, which was delicious. The mango lassi and ice cream were really good, too. We will be going back again.

Excellent service, great food! I was craving something different from my usual, and decided to try a new cuisine. This can be stressful, as I have a few food allergies to common ingredients like peanuts and shellfish. When we ordered take out via grubhub we made note of my allergies, and to call us if there was any issue involving them. The chef called us personally to confirm that they would make sure that my food was allergen free and good for me to eat! Arrived quickly, was very tasty (highly recommend the lamb coconut curry!), but the service is what really impressed me.

Went here for lunch today with some coworkers. Upon entering the restaurant, we first noticed that the temperature was about 82F. Thankfully, after mentioning this to one of the very courteous staff members, he turned off the heat. I had to laugh that all of the fans in the restaurant were blowing full speed all the while. The lunch buffet is served gourmet style, and contained a great variety. Naan was served aside from the buffet. Overall the buffet was prepared well and appeared very appetizing. The restaurant is close to my work, and very well-priced. We will return.

Love Indian food. Spices don’t agree with me lately. I called for takeout. Specifically asked for “very very very mild butter chicken”. Got it home, spicy as hell, had 3 bites couldn’t eat anymore. Guess they heard “very very mild” and thought I said “hot as hell”. Won’t order again. I see from other reviews and manager responses that butter chicken is their “most popular dish”. So I guess they make a spicy vat of it at the start of the day and if you have it in house or take away there is no way for them to make it milder?

This winter weather had us craving the warmth and satisfying dishes of Indian cuisine. Since we're new to the neighborhood we trusted other Google reviews and wow, Rajmahal did not disappoint. This past weekend we ordered Garlic Naan, Raj Special Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala & Aloo Gobhi as a takeout order. The Raj Special Chicken is the only dish we ordered 'hot' as our kiddo, while he enjoys the heat in spicy food, has his limits. The Tikka Masala and Aloo Gohbi were at the same spice levels at the Raj Special and boy was it mouth wateringly delicious. I'll have to say that the Aloo Gobhi was the true shining star, I could have had that all night. We will definitely be coming back again.

Found this restaurant on a Google search when out plans fell through and loved it! Staff was great and food was super tasty! The rice and butter chicken was some of the best I've had. I will warn readers I enjoy spicy food and some may find it "too hot" but it was perfect for us, flavorful and delicious. It was also the best surprise to have fresh naan brought to our table, we will be coming back soon!

Very good food. The place needs to be remodeled.. but pretty good food..... Ok..me and my wife went back to this place for dinner... And was VERY disappointed... We ordered 2 dinners and got one...so had to wait for the second one... Wife ordered a Michelob ultra beer waiter even repeated it and brought her a warm and flat Bud light.. very poor service. Will probably not be back.

It looks like a hole-in-the-wall, but this is my favorite Indian restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is friendly. They cater and deliver, too! Their menu is varied, with a generous section for veggie dishes, as well as chicken, seafood, and lamb. If you get the lunch buffet, try the Yogurt Curry, it's fantastic.

This place ROCKS! They had a HUGE selection of authentic Indian Food. It was CLEAN. The food was AMAZING. They were great hosts and we will definitely go back. Check out this local food place and be pleasantly surprised at the quality. Prices were decent for the amount of food we received.

I enjoy this restaurant a lot. The lunch buffet and fresh flatbread are great. The service is outstanding and the place is clean. I brought 50 culinary high school kids there as a lesson in international cuisine. Most of the kids never had Indian cuisine before and they loved it. The staff was wonderful and accommodated us easily. It is my hope that the kids will try it again on their own. Thank you to all of the staff for making this special.

Staff was very welcoming and friendly. They went above and beyond to optimize our experience—giving a dish of chips and dip (similar to a Mexican Restaurant except with Indian style food) at the beginning of the meal; giving a free mango drink to my daughters; being consistently kind and pleasant; offering more rice when we ran out; and taking a picture of our family and friends for us when we requested it. Food was very good. My daughters loved the garlic naan bread. Lastly, a word of caution—we ordered our shared plate of food medium spicy and to all of us it seemed VERY spicy. Our noses were running and tears were in our eyes. So if you don’t like very spicy food, then order mild spicy.

Excellent food and service! We went here for the lunch buffet and were so impressed with the selection and the quality of the food. It was really outstanding. Very clean and well stocked. The service was very attentive as well. Some of the food was a bit spicy on the buffet (at least for our tastes), and they were very helpful about accommodating us. This place is a little hidden in a strip mall, but don't let the outside fool you. This is a gem!

I have visited Raj Mahal several times and have enjoyed it each time. The lunchtime buffet has various items to choose from and I can't say which item I like best, because I like them all. The FRESH Naan bread brought to the table is warm and smells wonderful. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Indian food or even the first timer so they can browse the buffet to find what they may like. The food is fresh and tastes great. The only thing better than the food is the service. They are extremely friendly and quick to serve. I like to go a few times a month and if I could I would visit weekly.

I don't go out to eat very often but I have been here 3 times in the past few months. The service is always excellent and everyone is so kind. The food is amazing and always fresh and flavorful. They bring you generous amounts of freshly made naan to go with it. I would honestly go there just to eat their naan! Definitely check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

Pretty decent Indian restaurant in Olathe. Wasn't busy at all when I went, but I did got for an early dinner so not sure how busy it may get. The host/server was friendly and pretty quick. I ordered the non-veg thali which seemed like the best value. The tandoori chicken in the thali was okay but a bit colder than I expected. The two chicken curry dishes (chicken makhni, chicken korma) we're a bit too sweet for me but I like my dishes savory and spicy. But let me get to the Daal Makhni. The Daal was simply perfect! Perfectly cooked and seasoned and garnished with some chilis, cream and butter. It was the best thing on the thali. The naan were hot and buttery and accompanies the Daal perfectly. Thali also inclided raita and rice kheer, which made it a really great value, but the Daal was definitely the star

My go to Indian buffet. They are great. Fresh naan delivered to your table during the buffet. The house salad is amazing. They usually have 3-5 veggie options and 2-3 meat dishes in addition to the tandoori chicken.

Great food! Great service! I had the garlic non bread which is out of this world, kuchumer salad (which is cucumbers, onions and tomato with great spices) and some traditional curry chicken. Also really good. Can't wait to come back.
