I loved this place. I was there a couple months ago and the restaurant is so beautiful and so is the food. I was mesmerized by the art on the wall. We came in and were seated immediately. The menu is overwhelming as there are so many dishes to choose from. The staff was nice. They were very patient with my mom as she is hard of hearing. They forgot our drinks, but that is partly our fault because we didn't even realize it until we were done. The food was great, there was almost too much flavor, but it was very good. The proportions were humongous so you'll probably be taking a to-go box. I definitely want to return here and explore their menu.

We went here New Year's Eve (12/31/14). There are boxes and junk all over the restaurant and bar. The bathroom toilet looked like it had vomit in it. Someone was cutting greens on an open table in the back (I saw it on the way to the bathroom). It took them 10 minutes to get a waitress to take our to-go order and 45 more minutes to get the food. The food was tasteless and overall nasty. I would not recommend eating there to anyone who is concerned about health and overall cleanliness of a restaurant.

I hate to rate this restaurant so low because the employees are so nice but this is how it was. I ordered Kung Bao Triple delight extra spicy. It was so mild I that I told the waitress about it. She brought some chili pepper in oil. I added two little spoonfuls to my dish. It barely changed the spicyness. The hot mustard on the table is hotter. The entree was also super salty. I can only remember being served a plate of food this salty maybe twice in my life. Incredible! To top it off, the vegetables were flavorless. I was really disappointed with this meal. The hot and sour soup and egg roll were above average however. Just laying over for business. Next time in town I will try somewhere else.

7-13-18 spent almost $50 at this place to get BURNT orange chicken Mongolian beef with only 6 pieces of beef so i guess it would be called Mongolian Onions, Crab Ragoons were soggy and what wasnt soggy was hard as a rock asked for fried rice got white rice instead chicken wings looked like they were fried first thing in the morning and just sat out all day to be microwaved when someone finally ordered them NOT PLEASED AT ALL!!! to spend that much to get such poor quality food is disturbing to me...

This is a hole-in-the-wall where few sit down to eat. Their bar and waiting area leave much to be desired. The whole place could have used a renovation long ago. All of that doesn’t detract from the rocking, high quality food. You know what’s really simple but hard to get it right? Egg drop soup and egg rolls-this place has some of the best I’ve ever had. All the entrees I’ve tried are delicious and the portions guarantee two meals, no matter what you order. Best day of the week at work includes North Dragon leftovers. On top of that, the two running the show are total sweethearts. I love this place and hope, despite the aforementioned shortcomings, that nothing here ever changes.

Great bang for your buck great place for family dining portions are designed that way. Two people can split in order quite easily. The crab rangoon is a must-hear! The staff is very friendly, the food is very authentic and by far some of the most delicious dishes I've had. When I eat there alone I have a meal for the next day a full meal. My family and I have been coming here since we first moved here when I was little. Its our go to for Chinese in KC. Staff is always friendly and food is always fantastic. Crab rangoon is delicious and so is the fried rice. Plus the little bowl of ice cream and fortune cookie you get at the end is the cherry on top. Love North Dragon.

Avoid this place even if you're starving to death. I had to use at least 1 Star or I would have given this place 0 Stars.Very run down and every single chair is being held together in places with tape. We then sat for 20 mins before having someone bring a menu to our table. The duck we ordered came burned with nothing but skin and bones remaining. It was so disgusting that we asked to have it removed from the table. My wife and I had to share my dinner order and even it was marginal. Fair warning.

DO NOT EAT HERE, bought food from there a couple days ago and the chicken taste like it had been re heated from a prior day, the food was really unsettling, found random kitchen products in another dish that we ordered, my son found a random blue rubber band in his and I wanted to throw up, who knows what the hell they are doing or what the hell that kitchen looks like, and I was a customer there for at least a year ONLY cause it was convenient, never was that special, also the crab ragoon was chalky and tasted like it to had been reheated or something, nothing was good a complete waste of money and time, I REALLY REALLY hope that hole in the wall gets shut down

Have never been disappointed with a meal here. Food is excellent, always do dine in but they also seam to have a large carry out following as well. This Chinese restaurant has always been my families go to place. The food is wonderful. And the staff always tales care of you. Today they just proved it more. They had to close early because the parking lot was redone but they hadn’t locked the doors yet when my husband and I walked in. And instead of the usual “sorry we’re closed remark” we were greeted and told they had to close early but since we were here we could order something to go. They could have very well turned us away but instead chose to make food for us. Just phenomenal service.

This restaurant was so phenomenal. I can’t even explain the imprint that it has left on my taste buds. The wishing fountain is so fun for young children to make wishes in. Cathy is such a good employee and I couldn’t be more grateful for the phenomenal service that she has provided for my family and me. This restaurant has such great service and the food is out of this world, I can’t even get to explain how good it is. They even have carry-out, which on the tough days is so helpful. The bathrooms are so clean and organized. This place hasn’t been getting a lot of attention lately, and all I have to say to this is why? The whole Kansas City area, or even the whole world is missing out in this. I couldn’t be more grateful for what this restaurant has done for me. So please if you don’t have any dinner plans, please give this place a try, I promise you won’t regret it!

I was going to give North Dragon 2 stars since my Cashew Chicken was just okay (that's 3 stars according to Google's rating system), but I didn't like the breading on the General Tso's chicken (2 stars). I wanted to give 2 1/2 stars, but since that was not an option, based on other factors (I'll get to that momentarily), I was ready to rate as 2 stars. My cold leftovers (I love cold leftover Chinese food) were better, so that resulted in a 3 star rating. I picked North Dragon since they had over 100 reviews and were rated between Liked and Loved. Going by what more experienced reviews said, I was really looking forward to trying North Dragon. I had a couple of red flags when I walked in. I grabbed a menu to see what they had. Is it just me or do all Chinese menus look the same? Same font, same dishes, same family meal options, even the same folder the menus come in. Has anyone paid attention to see if the numbers next to the dishes are the same? Is there a Chinese restaurant mob we are not aware of that controls all of the restaurants? My menu was in poor shape and so was the next menu I picked up. Looking around the restaurant, there were 4 people dining, and one person getting their food to go. No one else came in during the 20 minutes it took to get my order ready. At 6:30ish on a Tuesday evening, this wasn't a good sign. While waiting, I noticed that the bar was quaint and they had a nice beer selection. Looking to the left was a lot of boxes stacked up by the window. Not as a display, but as a place to store them. Along the back of the restaurant is a table used as an office/break area. They have a partition up to hide some of it, but still quite visible. In the middle of the dining area is a large non-working fountain taking up a good amount of space and could use some TLC. With these visuals, the place felt depressed and in need of some help. This explained to me why they had such few diners. But who isn't looking for the unicorn restaurant where the place may not be pretty, but the food is awesome. I just didn't find my unicorn. My portions were very large. I got two entrees with one upgraded to a family meal for $23. They could easily cut down the portions some and use the savings for some improvements. The family meal included an egg roll (pretty good), a fried wonton (the wonton was very tough/dense to eat, so I didn't care for it), a crab Rangoon (I got 2 containers of sweet and sour sauce which was great, but not sure why 2 for 1 crab Rangoon), and a bowl of hot and sour soup. The soup wasn't spicy nor sour. It wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. The chicken quality in both of my entrees was okay. Since I started trying different Chinese restaurants in my area, there is a number of places that should become vegan based on the quality of the protein they use. As mentioned earlier, I didn't care for the breading on my chicken in the General Tso's dish. The chicken pieces in this dish could also be a lot smaller making it easier to eat. My last note is about the Muzak playing in the restaurant. My best way to describe it is keyboard synthesized pan flute polka music. It is so horribly bad, that you have to check it out for yourself.

I don't know where the older man went that used to work there.... The last few times we have went food has been dramaticly diffrent. Noodles way to Saulty , generals tos chicken and sauce is diffrent, even the crab rangon isn't good anymore. This had been our favorite place for decades.. I don't know what's going on.. We may have to find a new spot. Very disappointing.

The appetizers were served hot and fresh, we had egg rolls and crab Rangoon and they were tasty. The main course was acceptable but rather bland, the dish I ordered was marked on the menu as being spicy but wasn't at all.
