You will see the reviews of real people who purchase the products and services of Majestic (Restaurant) in the area close to Kansas.
To this day the firm gets a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and the rating was based on 915 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is almost the best one, and it is founded on a high number of opinions, so we may be pretty sure that the score is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their review when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to set reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant is included in the category of Steak house.
Besides the outstanding service from our server, Tobias, the place is full of great history. He shared lots of interesting tidbits about the area and the restaurant. The dinner was the best meal we had in Kansas City. Steaks were cooked to perfection as were the sides. Free dessert for our birthday girl. The piano player was not only talented but charming to boot. Overall a fabulous experience.
While they bill themselves as a top place to grab steaks in Kansas City but Majestic missed the mark for me. The service was not all that great, the bartender acted annoyed when I ordered a drink and I had some overcooked meat as well. However, the atmosphere of this place is really neat. It is in an old building and they have preserved much of the character which was nice to see. They also have a killer bourbon selection of that is your thing and the value you get compared to other steak houses is pretty solid. I personally won't be rushing back here but I also wouldn't be adverse to giving it another shot.
This review is from a vegetarian perspective so consider that. Most places I go to in KC have at least 1 decent veg Option and very good sides. I ordered a pasta dish as an entree and a side of Mac and cheese. The pasta entree was so bad it seemed like it was floating in vegetable broth and nothing else. The Mac and cheese was decent. The main reason for 2 stars tho is very poorly made Old Fashioned....cheap cherry and a thick slice of orange should never be part of any old fashioned.
Great music and service. I was disappointed with my rib-eye steak. I had to remove from my mouth what I was chewing three different times. Very chewy. I get a much better steak from Longhorn and it cost much less.
Spend Judy about every anniversary hee. Downstairs with the music is great!
We went because my husband loves steak. It was a challenge to find the parking. You have to enter from Central and either walk through Jimmy Johns drive thru or walk behind the restaurant in the alley, see the cooks and servers smoking and the dumpster. My husband said the steak was delicious and his sides the glazed carrots and creamed spinach were a nice change from the regularly offered sides. I ordered the pasta. No concerns about omitting the mushrooms. It also came with a salad and two sides. I didn’t care for the caesar salad, the dressing tasted off. I was advised it would be taken off the bill, it wasn’t. however what’s an upcharge of $4 on an$100 bill? Ialso had broccoli and Mac n cheese... I know I thought it was odd to have a side of pasta with pasta. I had it wrapped to go. Cap was our server and he was wonderful. I was upset we weren’t given the option to sit down stairs and listen to jazz. The couple next to us wasn’t given the option to sit down there either. It’s one of the reasons we tried this restaurant. Truly not my cup of tea. If you like steak give it a shot.
Enjoyed the service
Brunch was wonderful! It's always a great time at the Majestic
Old world charm, friendly staff( my waiter Cody was awesome), and great food!!!
Great jazz lounge. Food is good. Staff great. Music fantastic for pre Bebop.
Excellent restaurant, service, experience, and environment. Definitely a date-night or special occasion location.

My bartender/server was very nice and helpful. Filet was very tender but not much flavor. Sauteed mushrooms and the broccoli weren't very tasty either. Neat looking jazz bar downstairs. If I'm in the area again I'll give it another shot but wasn't impressed.
The food was fantastic!! The online info was a little misleading as far as dress was concerned and we felt a tad over dressed.
We love dining in the jazz club for a special occasion! Always impeccable service and the music is great!
Great place for a date night. The food and service exceeded my expectations. On the expensive side, but you are truly paying for a higher quality meal. Definitely will recommend and return!
Awesome experience. Loved the atmosphere, the jazz and the service was terrific.
Classic, old school steakhouse. Professional service, great (and reasonably priced) wine list. Wonderful cocktails. Took off a star because my steak was undercooked a bit for med-rare. But we will definitely be back.
music and wine was great. Steaks left much to be desired.
Ribeye was phenomenal. Steak soup is dope. Our server was awesome. 10 stars easy. You won’t regret it.
Beautifully decorated building with lots of history. Service and jazz music was awesome. Prices were very high..food not bad...but not worth over $200 for three people.
My favorite lunch spot in the city.
AMAZING! We made brunch reservations for 11. No problem. Outstanding food. Our orders were varied from a 3-year old to a 67-year old grandfather. Our waiter was phenomenal. Efficient and attentive. The piano background music was just the right kind of jazz to set the mood for a family gathering. Thanks Majestic!
Came here for brunch. I got the hanger steak (ordered medium) and eggs. Boyfriend got a burger (medium) with an egg on top. My steak was cooked well done and half of it was actually burnt. My 2 slices of toast were burnt almost completely black. I'm very surprised that an establishment such as this even sent my meal out like that. We got there 15 min after they opened and were the only patrons there, so it wasn't a situation where they were overwhelmed with orders in the kitchen. My eggs were good. Boyfriend's burger was more properly cooked and was quite good. Very disappointed. Based on my meal, I would not return. Based on my boyfriend's meal, I would return.
Ok, so this place was amazing. We went on a guided tour and only got a couple of drinks, I will definitely go back to try the food, because it smelled amazing. But the best part was the history of the building. Between the underground tunnels, brothel history, and its mob affiliations, you can almost feel like your rubbing elbows with the powerhouses that ran the place so many years ago.. it is a must stop for a history buff.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Scallops and crab in a boatload of butter, and just fantastic ratatouille. One of the best things is that they were able to email my receipt after I left without it; it made my day to have that so easy.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Underrated brunch as well.
The Majestic is full of amazing history that makes it such an interesting place to dine. Our server, Tobias, was beyond excellent and not only served us, but told us the amazing history behind the restaurant. If you go here, I would reccomend sitting in that Jazz section (the basement) where the old speakeasy was and where they still play music. The music the played when I was there was fantastic. The pianist was just mezmering. The food at the Majestic is also fantastic. Some may say it is pricey, but I would say it is well worth it. The steaks cooked to perfection, tender and are to die for. The lobster tail was also delicious. I would highly highly recommend coming here for a night out on the town!
Had an excellent meal here last weekend. I was definitely excited to give the place a try and I'm glad I did. I went with a steak, steamed broccoli, and potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly medium and all items on the dish were seasoned perfectly! The lamb was also very well cooked and flavorful. I would recommend either dish! In addition, the appetizers, desserts, and drinks were top notch! Will definitely return!
Perfect spot for a date night! Food is pricey but well worth it. The steak is incredible. Service is outstanding. And the live music is the icing on the cake!
Great steaks!! Great for a celebration dinner
Cool atmosphere and interesting history...not totally impressed with the food for the price.
Live Jazz Good Steaka
Live Jazz played by a good band was a definate plus. Food was good and flavorful along with excellent wine selection. Waiter was really nice and made several passes. Be prepared to pay for the atmosphere, prices were slightly higher than your typical steak house. Likely to return and would recommend for an intimate setting.
Hostess was a little off. We arrived 830 on a Friday without reservations & she had to make a call then go upstairs, then returned only to go downstairs before we were seated by another staff member. Wait staff was kind. Had KC strip, great steak. Asparagus was very thick, but cooked wonderfully, however no seasoning/butter.
Classy, and one of the more historical restaurants in KC. Jazz in the basement over a bottle of cab was perfect.
This is a great steak house. Live Jazz in the evening on the weekend. Down Stairs is quaint and make reservations. It is up scale pricing but worth every penny.
I love the nostalgia!
Tobias was a great waiter that told us the background history of the establishment
Great jazz and comfort food. Love to come here.
Nice, cozy atmosphere. Had a jazz trio playing. Little chilli, so dress warm.
Came for excellent restaurant week lunch. Our server, Clint, was outstanding.
This place was wonderful! The people were amazing! The downstairs was really awesome, a little spooky though, which I thought was really cool!!! Goosebumps cool!! Food was good, even though I thought the $77 Akaushi steak I had, had too much gristle for the price....this will not stop us from returning and trying more though!!
Good food. Not great in my humble opinion. 801 chophouse is much better for the same money
Service was very good. The food was great but the coffee wasn't very hot.
Historic downtown building with two story restaurant. Downstairs usually offers live music and meals. Upstairs has table seating and a large bar. Food and service were very good. Restaurant is known for steak, but the seafood selections are excellent as well. Street parking may be available. The restaurant offers garage parking many evenings and weekends.
Depending on what you order the food can range from "Just Okay" to "Great". Service is always with a smile, but food takes FOREVER to come out. Plan on at least 1.5 hours there for lunch. We go regularly because it's just down the street from the office, but we wouldn't drive to it.
Great food, service, and atmosphere
Hard to give a review, the food I ordered was flawed although I dont think it described the overall experience. The venue was good, bartender was good, waiter was good and the steak my guest had was awesome. My steak was a 74$ nightmare of grizzle. They brought a rushed replacement which was blood rare but they tried and comped the meal. I would try it again and hope the execution was better. Venue with music was really great and I wanted them to succeed but they didn't.
Hostess sat us and we sat for fifteen minutes without anyone even saying hi. Then one of the staff walked by and collected our menus without looking at us. We were totally invisible and completely ignored. We walked out and I doubt they noticed.
Wonderful Jazz lounge.
If you are looking for a nice dinner outing in Kansas City while listening to some low key live music, look no further than the Majestic. Located on Broadway near 10th Street, I have frequented the Majestic for about the last 20+ years. They are a steakhouse and the menu reflects that. Dry aged steaks are their focus. The fare is not cheap and dinner for one (without any drinks) can set you back $75 or more. On the last visit I tried the hangar steak wondering how the aging process would impact a less tender cut of meat. I would rate it "not great" which is not what I would expect to rate anything at the Majestic. (It wasn't bad but not something I would order again hence the 4 star review). Service and ambience was exceptional as usual. Reservations at the lower level are highly recommended if you plan to visit.
I've been here three times and every time it's amazing. Great service. Amazing food. I had the pork chop this time which was great. But the steaks are even better!
filet and firecracker cauliflower were great
Hair in food, WAY over priced for terrible food, over cooked, dry food with no spice. Rude waiter when approached for hair in food. Waited 30 min in lobby for 20 guests with a reservation made two months in advance. Food poisoning x1 from the soup. Bartender was rude. We ate here 5-12-19 spent $800 and no one could finish the food it was so bad. It was my daughters graduation we made the best of it. Sad :( and they refused to let us use the downstairs even though I was not being used and completely ready and we deserved it after the waiting in the lobby. I will direct everyone away from here until we are compensated. IN addition the piano guy played no songs, he banged away on the piano like a 5yo- several of us play, we knew. Maybe we should just ordered the steak? Ambiance was great.
Tried two steaks, both rather bland. Good service and all, jazz was enjoyable as usual (makes up of the sub par steak). Overall mediocre food, but I just go to hear the band.
Great burger and steak fires are with the trip by themselves!
Always a fantastic experience! Decently priced for high-end aged steaks, you can really tell the difference. Drinks also well priced and very well made. Would recommend!
I took my mom here for her birthday dinner and we had a great time. We also went all out, and the figure was high - but I still really enjoyed it. The food was all delicious - and let me say here that I'm not a steak girl. What I'm commenting on here is mostly the side dishes and drinks, steak is always just steak to me. That being said, we went with the 24oz Wagyu and shared. It was steak. We couldn't finish all of it. I am not 100% sure it was real wagyu, after some thought, and wouldn't recommend it. The creamed spinach side was the star of the night. Or was it the wine? The cheese plate appetizer was also phenomenal. You know what, maybe it was our server Andrew that really made the dinner stand out - whenever we needed a little hint of what to get he had our backs. I've never had someone pick out better wine for us. Cheers to Andrew. Anyway, so the food is good. It's gotta be for the price they're charging or else they'd be out of business. The atmosphere is also pretty comfy - we were there with live piano music and candles on the table. It for sure feels like the place you might take someone for a birthday or anniversary. The area is also pretty nice and parking is easy to find.
Nice restaurant that appears to be hidden in the financial district. Great food, while we listen to soft jazz.
Always love this place. The best
5 stars for service when not packed, they delivered my steak right away. Refilled drinks and were generally very attentive to customers. Drinks and food were pretty good, though the food can be a bit pricey for the value. Drinks are well valued though. 3 stars for service when it was packed (lunch). It tooks us (group of 5) about 40 minutes to get relatively straightforward plates. No follow-ups during that holdup.
I love jazz and I love food. the best combo ever. the service is just amazing and everyone is so friendly. love this place
Really cool steakhouse with a couple bars and live jazz in the basement during dinner. Stopped in on the way through town and had a delicious cut of steak. They have a great selection of wines and bourbons, and their steaks were perfectly prepared. Check it out if you're around there.
Great service and food
Restaurant week brunch menu had many excellent choices. Mini biscuit and gravy, delicious. Salmkn sausage omelet wonderful. Beef tips with grits and egg marvelous. Definitely going back
Well...just like many customers, I don't really like to leave reviews unless it is really bad or good....and it is pretty bad this time.. first of all, we are only in town for 3 days, and a couple of folks suggested majestic is a good place to go for enjoying food and live jazz. so we called up in advance to make an reservation, and they put us on hold forever-did not realize it is a red flag already. we had to make the reservation online. then we arrived on time. the host was too proud, and told us we can not go to listen to jazz because we did not tell them in the reservation---well, if you put your customers on hold for 15 minutes, you probably won't have time to explain the reservation rules on internet. right? then after we were seated, the waitress waited for 10 minutes to bring the water for us. yup...in addition to that, she might be really stressed out, poured the food on another customer, then she was quite rude to us. in general, the food was ok, but might be overrated... and the service was absolutely bad.. from reservation, host to the serving staff. would recommend go somewhere else for travellers...
My husband and I visited Majestic on our first trip to Kansas City (October 2018). It was wonderful and I recommend giving it a try if you are looking for a great steak! I ordered the filet with lobster tail added. My steak was a little under cooked for my liking, but still delicious and the lobster was a bit over done. However, presentation and taste were 10 out of 10. We also had the chocolate cream pie and the creme brulee and WOW. The place has a wonderful atmosphere and the service was exceptional.
If you want steak in KC, this is one of two places to get it (Stockhill being the other). The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because their Sunday brunch fell below expectations and was below the normal experience of dining there
Would have been a 2 Star if the Jazz wasn’t good. Poor service, and completely outdated whiskey menu. Granted I didn’t have dinner there so I can’t comment or rate on their food.
Went for lunch and ordered a tuna wrap. Wasn’t bad but I think I may have ordered the wrong thing. I don’t think they specialize in this type of food. Looks like a great place to watch some live music so I will have to visit again. Great service.
A fantastic place to eat at! The food upstairs is one of the best to eat at. The staff are friendly and helpful. Downstars is where you go to relax and enjoy the music. The Majestic is my favorite restaurant to take my family out to.
Delicious steaks perfectly prepared, great desserts, and jazz - what more could you ask for? Friendly, knowledgeable staff - which they have. Epicurean heaven!
We ate here for the first time on mother’s day for brunch and had a wonderful time. Our server, Barbie, was so attentive and kind. Everyone enjoyed their food and brunch cocktails. The piano music was a lovely touch, and the building itself is beautiful! Would definitely go here again!
Great atmosphere, delicious food and fantastic service. The food was prepared with excellent flavor and presentation, in addition to the variety. The drink menu alone offers an impressive challenge; one I'm more than happy to take on. Our server Ted was able to offer comprehensive and relevant recommendations, along with answers to any of our questions. His top notch service and knowledge was perfectly complementary to the meal.
Up close jazz and good food.
Great jazz band and lively music. delicious food and sort of speakeasy atmosphere. the steak could use a bit more cooking and the red velvet cake can be a bit more moist.
Loved this place! Superb atmosphere, great live music and THE best aged steaks in town. Highly reccomended
Real good.
Very good Beef, they F up our order but they made it right.
Very good service and excellent steak, expertly prepared. Really enjoyed the Jazz downstairs as well. On the weekends, any tables are free/open for the last hour, so we retired downstairs after dinner.
Small narrow restaurant. Good for group get togethers. There are 3 floors to this establishment. Live entertainment on the lower floor in the evenings and a cigar bar on the upper floor. I havent been disappointed when eating here. The service and food are really good. Most recently I enjoyed their blackened cod with as side of rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. Yum!
Food And Music Is Fantastic Awesome Atmosphere.
Awesome whiskey list... food is great too!
My favorite breakfast restaurant a true treat with great service.
This place is PHENOMENAL! My fiance surprised me with a dinner date here, and the steak was fantastic! The atmosphere is so elegant and romantic. Honestly, I would recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a real nice time with real good food, go to the Majestic!
The bar is great. The restaurant didn’t impress me one bit. Our waiter had funky body odor and it was only 7pm. The highly overpriced ribeye was so tough, I think it was actually chuck roast. The jazz band was fun. But, I’ve had way better steak dinner at outback.
The atmosphere and location is great. However, the steaks were only okay. Not necessarily worth the cost. There are better places for steak around this area.
I ended up here after a recommendation from a friend who live and works in KC as the best steak joint in town. It has a cool, old school vibe with some history. Apparently the door in the men’s bathroom leads to tunnels that were used during prohibition. The food was good with a very knowledgeable wait staff. I tried the Wagyu strip as my first time ever having Wagyu. I am not a steak expert, and it was fine, but my tastes aren’t refined enough to say that it was much different than any other type of steak. Downstairs they have live jazz, which I wish I had stayed around to hear more of. If I come again, I would head straight for it.
So good! Service was great, and I loved the atmosphere! What a great 1st time birthday visit with my girlfriend!
Great Jazz@##
The Majestic never has disappointed me in both the quality of food and service! Despite it being restaurant week, the service was still phenomenal! Highly recommend this place and anything off the menu but they're well known for their different cuts of meats!
My date and I went during restaurant week. Start to finish the experience was great. Sat in the Jazz room and had live jazz music all night. Band was great. We did the three course special for restaurant week, shared everything. Hummus and a sweet potato soup for appetizers. Salmon, crab cakes and filet, shrimp as the main course. Red velvet cake and chocolate cake as dessert. All the food was incredible( seafood was great but still seafood in KS/MO). Service was also top notch. We will be going back!
Amazing dining experience! From the exquisite steak to the great serviced that was partnered with live jazz music. Truly an experience to remember albeit not a cheap one - just be ready! Next time I am in Kansas City, I will be making another visit.
This place is PHENOMENAL! My fiance surprised me with a dinner date here, and the steak was fantastic! The atmosphere is so elegant and romantic. Honestly, I would recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a real nice time with real good food, go to the Majestic!
Exceptional dishes and price is reasonable. Highly recommended.
Nice place, good food and service
Our waiter - Seton is very engaging and pleasant. Wonderful relaxing establishment and the Lamb chop we're perfect!!
Great happy hour drinks and food menu. Awesome bar tender!
Just Wow. This is THE place to get steak in Kansas City. I went with my soon to be wife and we shared the 32oz porterhouse. Let's just all agree that 32oz of American Kobe, dry aged for a month is the pinnacle of meat. Not stopping the the majestic had a more than fantastic bar. The sides were amazing. Oh and they have jazz playing in the downstairs. This place is truly a treat.
Excellent food and service, atmosphere was excellent.
Loved our experience! Food was on point! Joe our server was very knowledgeable about KC history and bourbon.
A wonderful place with delicious food and great staff! Plus the historical significance of the building is stated throughout the restaurant!
Restaurant week, brunch. Great selection & value. Very relaxed and nostalgic atmosphere.
Such a great, historic place. Went for lunch. Great food, friendly service.
James Barbee- by far one the best guys to see at this location he is very informative and knows his stuff. Thanks for the awesome experience Barbee!!
The bar is great. The restaurant didn’t impress me one bit. Our waiter had funky body odor and it was only 7pm. The highly overpriced ribeye was so tough, I think it was actually chuck roast. The jazz band was fun. But, I’ve had way better steak dinner at outback.
Love, love, love this place! This is the first place I stopped in when I first relocated to the area and everything from the drinks to the menu to the staff are exceptional. I love going to a nice place with no TVs and great atmosphere only topped by service and the best of food! The Majestic is it for me!
The history, the culture, the food.... MAGNIFICENT!!!
I would have given this place a five, but the food left a little to be desired in the flavor department. The atmosphere is awesome if you choose the downstairs area with the jazz. Our server Stephen was awesome and very knowledgeable about the menu. Overall the experience was a good one and I would recommend for a nice date night.
Another fav! Food, staff and cocktails are fantastic. Classic atmosphere with jazz in the basement.
The service, cocktails, and apps are great but the steak was terrible. My medium rare steak was dry as a desert along with my potatoes. I'd only go for brunch or cocktails and apps, steaks are overpriced and bad.
Nice small atmosphere with a high end feel. Service met expectation. One of my sides was not properly ordered in the kitchen, but when arrived (after I was near finished with my meal) it and my other side were very tasty! I chose the Wagyu ribeye as my entree. The flavor was very good and it was properly cooked to order. The cut of meat was definitely not worth the price. I entered the restaurant with great expectations for this steak and left slightly disappointed. I don’t fault The Majestic but do think they need to ensure the cuts of meat they buy meet their standards.
Fancy shmancy. Great atmosphere, live jazz and excellent food! This fine dining is a little on the pricey side but well worth it for any special occasion.
If you eat at this restaurant, be very careful about payment. I was severely overcharged and because my ride was less than 30 seconds away, when they wanted to charge me more, I wasn't able to get a receipt. Make sure you keep/store all relevant receipts.
The food is well-prepared and see them perfectly. If you happen to visit the Pendergast Club you won't find service and expertise that Ben, the bartender, delivers better anywhere else!
Very nice. Low light, fine dinning, smooth jazz and blues to listen to. What a great experience. Will be back again. Next time your here try rhe cheese and meat plate. Its just $18 and great choices. Its actually filling enough if your looking for a light and inexpensive snack for 2 or 3 people.
This is by far the best steak and seafood restaurant in town!! Awesome service and staff as well. The history behind their building is quite intriguing. Highly recommend on the bucket list.
My family and I always enjoy eating here. Excellent service, great atmosphere, delicious food and great drink menu. The flavors are excellent and the presentation beautiful.
Live band...awesome, customer service...outstanding, food...off the charts delicious. Special thank you to our waiter Barbie(forgive me if the spelling is wrong) who went above and beyond to give us the best experience
Beef Beyond compare. Bread pudding to die for. One of the few white table cloth restaurants left. Service is on top. One of my favorite restaurants in the country. We plan our trips just so we can have dinner at the Majestic.
Old style, wonderful atmosphere. Like taking a step back into a nostalgic wonderland. Fantastic food, great staff and the jazz trio downstairs, incredible. Love this place.
We came to Kansas City for a short getaway with family before the end of summer. We wanted to dine at a nice restaurant. The Majestic did not disappoint! The atmosphere was amazing. Cap took great care of us. He explained the menu and specials to our entire group. We all enjoyed our entire meal. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Both the prime rib soup and cream of mushroom were top notch. Portion sizes exceeded our expectations. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a special place dinner.
Great, authentic, KC experience. You can listen to live jazz in the basement, which was a former Speakeasy. The food is great and service is fantastic. The basement itself could use a little maintenance, otherwise it would have been a 5.
We had a great server, food was top shelf. Overall great experience.
A fantastic speakeasy!
Place had a really cool vibe, great history and good service. A little cramped but we made it work. We all got steak what with it being a steak house. All of the steaks were over cooked and when you are a famous steak place AND charging $50 a steak, that is unforgivable. Still had a good dinner but didn't meet expectations.
First steak I had here was one of the best I've had. Second was cold and a quarter grissle. Third they burned. They won't Pittsburg Sear their steaks either. Great music every time though.
Old style, wonderful atmosphere. Like taking a step back into a nostalgic wonderland. Fantastic food, great staff and the jazz trio downstairs, incredible. Love this place.
Great food. Generous portions.
Awesome atmosphere, chill vibes, great staff and the 14oz ribeye was
Always great service, delicious food.
Best jazz club in KC. Go downstairs on Friday or Saturday. They usually play music until 10 or 11 pm. Tom (the bartender) is awesome.
This is a very cool and historic steak house and speak easy in downtown KC. Arguably the best steak house in KC, and that is saying something. One of the very unique features is a live Jazz Dinner band in the basement sitting area. Really cool while eating dinner. Cigar bar upstairs is a little secret but ask and go.
Be prepared to be yelled at, literally yelled at for requesting a to go box. The manager WILL disrespect you. Why exactly they don’t let you take the food home? Who knows, I wasn’t given a proper answer. maybe they’re putting something sketchy in the food. All I know for sure is that YOU WILL BE DISPRESPECTED IF YOU ASK TO TAKE YOUR FOOD HOME. Btw, all these other 5 star reviews must be fake because all I’ve heard from people around town is that the service is awful and the steaks are even worse.
Fantastic steakhouse. If you want to spend less, go during happy hour in the bar area.
JAZZ MUSIC TO BOOT Looked for a local Jazz club and found this place online. Food choices were good and service was excellent. Three of us shared a cheese platter and steak plate. Was plenty of food. The music was nice. The restaurant is located in the basement of the bar.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Came here for a private party on a Friday evening. The wait staff was great. The steaks were 'just ok'. I ordered to Waygu-blend strip and it was tough for a medium rare steak. My steak was cooked properly, but others were under-done to over-done. DO NOT ORDER THE MAC AND CHEESE side dish. It tasted as if someone had spilled cayenne pepper in it. I like spicy food and this was over the top hot. It was inedible. When I explained this to the waiter he insisted it was the pepper-jack cheese, and that's just how it was. No mention at all of it being spicy on the menu for a side dish that would have considered extremely spicy at a Mexican restaurant. It wouldn't be a big deal but it was a $4 up-charge that most everyone got. He offered to bring something else, but since it took 1.5 hours from appetizer to entree we didn't want to bother waiting. Unfortunately I would have to pass on coming back.
Steak meal was good, a little pricey. Great atmosphere
This was one of the first places I experienced in the city. Almost 9 years ago. And it never disappoints me. AMY is the absolute best server.
The food was fabulous! We had the crab cake appetizer; it was exquisite! My Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and melted in my mouth! My husband's food was also delicious. Our server was friendly and efficient. What a great way to spend our anniversary! Thank you for an awesome evening! ❤️
A stunning birthday dinner from my daughter. Adored the atmosphere with the piano at the entrance making the evening a quite memorable one, and we were so well looked after. Every question answered, suggestions were plentiful for us as it was our first visit. The cheese platter starter, the steaks done to absolute perfection, the creamed spinach was omg incredible. Finishing of with lemon torte that danced in my mouth.... sparkling white wine was my drink of choice for the evening. My daughter enjoyed the rose'. Certainly not a dinner for budget conscious unless it's a VERY special occasion. Dress up and go out for Kansas city's steak treat in the most delicious historic building. You won't regret it! It's a crowded small space, and when it fills up, it really has every seat full so make a reservation, and be prepared to be in close and intimate quarters with new friends. Itll be ok. Kansas city is full of kind wonderful people. Smile, and enjoy the closeness. Our waiter was superb... Amazing on every level, as was every employee we encountered. It was a 5 star experience
Our first visit and we were highly impressed from the impeccable service to the amazingly delicious food! We were also given a brief story about the history of the building. I would be interested in seeing the tunnel, but it's somewhere in the men's restroom. Definitely will be returning!!
Loved live music & drinks in the downstairs jazz pub
Best Happy Hour Ever! Great wine deals, exquisite steak burgers, absolutely incredible potato wedges, even a good veggie burger that'll satisfy your vegan friends. Jazz downstairs is a real treat. There's a deep, spooky, aura that feels very amplified when the band gets going. Totally magical place. Steaks are a bit overpriced, but get there for the burger before 6 and then get drinks downstairs and watch jazz. You'll love it.
This place exudes the charm of Kansas City. The food is as great as the ambience. Bison Sausage B&G 5 stars
Ordered the wagyu beef which was very tough. 2 stars is generous for the meal. Service 4+, music 5*.
Good food, good atmosphere. There is a full bar as well as an area for dining. There is a lunch and dinner menu, and the pricing is good for the amount of food received.
Beautiful classic bar. Classic architecture and a bar that was built in 1880. An incredible selection of liquors. I had the steak soup and my son had a steak. Both very good.
Great venue for fantastic food, wonderful wine list, live jazz music, and phenomenal service.
This is a tough review to do. I loved the ambiance and jazz. Our wait staff were super attentive. And the side dishes were yummy. But if you want a good steak, go somewhere else. My t-bone was over cooked, gristly, thin, and very tough. It was not prime or even choice meat.
Great service, food and drinks. It was a great place all around.
Awesome dinner. Steak was perfect. Great atmosphere.
Went to Kansas City for a weekend getaway and this restaurant was the best I experienced! The atmosphere is amazing and so was my lunch! The waitress also did an awesome job! 5 stars easily! Will be back for sure! The bison burger was to die for!!
This has been my special date night place for a few years now. Even though it's on the pricier side, the fact that they allow you two sides with your fancy steak is such a plus. I hate when you buy a $30 steak then have to buy all the sides too. The jazz is always great and the service is even greater.
Top notch waiter and food was extremely well prepared. Excellent ambiance
Great, authentic, KC experience. You can listen to live jazz in the basement, which was a former Speakeasy. The food is great and service is fantastic. The basement itself could use a little maintenance, otherwise it would have been a 5.
Fun historical atmosphere. Excellent good. Excellent service.
Toughest ribeye ever a 60.00 steak worth 2.00
Absolutely delicious and great service
We visited the Majestic 5-12-19. Party of 20. Our reservation wasn't ready for 30 long minutes my guests stood and waited- they did give two free appetizer trays for that. The Salmon meal had a HAIR in it, and when we told our waiter he said “ and?” I raised my voice and said theres a 4” hair in my mothers food.... THEN he got her a new plate like it was an inconvenience. THE FOOD was dry, bland and worse than chick filet ..... The salmon was dry and tasteless with a gross sauce on top that wasn’t delectable..The Pasta Tray for $30 was .20 cent of shell pasta under cooked with three tiny cubes of tomato and rotten chards in cheese sauce. Culturally this party was a mix of country people, high class and middle class. They all said the food was absolutely terrible. We spent $800 expecting a treat for these people that came from far away to celebrate my daughters graduation. Most of our food was left uneaten. In addition the down stairs was a great place for my party and it was “ unavailable “ though not used whilst we were there. The way the seats were situated most of our party could not see each other, next time I will search for a place where we can sit to accommodate everyone to visit joke etc.. I did visit the “Affair” a German restaurant.... best food I have ever had! Thats where we should’ve went. And to think they forced 35% gratuity on us..... sickening. Oh and we have several pianist in our group and their piano bar player was not even playing music.... He was just banding away like a 5 yr old. Lol. Comical. I’m sorry Majestic :( its 1 star for me.
Delicious desserts, interesting drink menu, great music. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
This place takes you back in time. The staff is fantastic and the food is great. It is a little bit more expensive for a steak house but worth it for a special experience. They have a jazz club in the basement too. I really think they do a top notch job here, but they probably could offer a few more mid-priced options for people who want to enjoy a nice meal and atmosphere without having pay top dollar. Still great and hopefully KC continues to support such an awesome historical gem.
I wish there were more than five stars. This place is consistently excellent
Great live music with Bram, wonderful cocktails, and delicious food (of course)! Our new favorite spot!
Delicious meal, great jazz, and a relaxed evening. The melted blue cheese was a fantastic addition to my perfect medium-rare KC Strip!
