I was there with a group of coworkers and this was my first time at Lonnie always pass by that 21st and didn't it was there. I am just to Texas BBQ and KC BBQ but this place was really good. I have pork, turkey and ham, plus potatoes, coleslaw and ice tea. Sorry didn't have the pickles either halapeños. But the food was delicious. We even have the opportunity to see a popular tv weatherman in the next table. Sorry, I am authorized to use his name and station where he works. I will visit this place again and again. Thank you for your hospitality.

Great food, super nice owner and staff, and great atmosphere. If you have a hard time picking, they let you get two types of meat on your sandwich. Brisket and Turkey were delicious. The tots side was delicious and the cole slaw was fresh. Thank you for you great hospitality and delicious food!!

I love Lonnie Q's. The food is superb, the restaurant is clean, the owner serves the food, and when he gets a break he walks around to check on how you are doing and if you are happy with the food. I saw a review complaining about the limited choices. Who cares? Every single item is delicious. Every thing is made fresh. No warmed-over foods here. Best ribs ever--tender and moist. Cheesy potatoes that are lip-smackin' good. The portions are generous. Yes, the hours are limited, but how hard is it to figure out when it's open? The Cup O' Heaven is accurately named.

Saw the reviews and had to try it. Came here from FL however have had BBQ all over the country. The food, service and atmosphere didn’t disappoint. Was fortunate to be there on Thursday so got some ribs which were delicious-meaty and flavorful. The owner and staff were extremely helpful and gave generous portions, will certainly be back as well as my Topeka family

I visited this diner sometime in February 2016. I was informed that around lunch time it gets outrageously busy. My office and I showed up around 11am and the place was already half full. By the time we finished our lunch, there was a line almost out the door. Lunch: Turkey in the Slaw - Tender turkey covered with "cold" slaw. The turkey was amazing. I was almost in disbelief anyone could make such a dry bird so delicious and moist. I know this doesn't sound like much food, but it was! My co-workers chose the "Cup of Heaven" (All three meats, taters, and beans) and their bowls were overflowing. ALL THIS FOR UNDER $10! Great price for the quality and quantity of food. They are also have very efficient ordering. The food is already made, so no need to wait. When you sit down, you will already have your food in your hands. Don't sleep on Lonnie Q's!

Everyone I know raves about this place. I was never able to try it because of the wonky hours. A coworker had bought us all lunch from here one day. I found the meat to be blan and soggy. The cheesy potatoes that seem to be a hit were not in my book. They tasted like something from a garbage can. I can get much better BBQ in my own backyard.

What the heck was this? Because of the high marks this place has on Google people think it's pretty good, maybe I was just there on an off day but.... this was the most sub par bbq I've had in a while. Seriously disappointed. My party and I had to drown the meat in bbq sauce to enhance the flavour...why? Not worth the cash.

Stopped here for dinner on a Friday night as we drove across the country. Line was nearly out the door but it moved quickly. The baby back ribs (served only Thursday and Friday) were excellent - meat falling off the bone and smoky flavoring. Overall, an excellent place to stop.

Off the chain BBQ! Don't drive past it, you will miss a gem of a place. Lonnie's BBQ is simply the best. We had the sliced turkey and could not stop talking about it. The pulled pork rivals NC BBQ. Sorry, husband, I know this is a heartbreaker, but, the food is great. Lonnie came out and talked to us and gave us his, philosophy on how to cue perfect meats. He is a master. I hope to come back by on the way home. It's that good.

We read about Lonnie’s BBQ and had to try it. Everything we read was true! The BEST BBQ, baked beans, slaw, and cheesy taters! And Lonnie came out and met our 15 week old golden retriever, Josie! Gave her a serving of turkey...she’s a Lonnie fan too! He brought out chairs for us to eat outside and let Josie run. Lonnie’s is the kind of restaurant you tell people about long after the visit. If you are in Topeka, don’t miss a lunch at Lonnie’s! Hope to see Lonnie and his son someday at Pablo’s coffeehouse in Denver...we are on our way there!

I just ate there based on these reviews, and I don't understand what people are going on about. There are only 3 selections on the menu -- brisket, pork, or turkey. They had ribs since today is Thursday, but there was no way I was going to shell out $11 for a half-slab of ribs. My combo with one side cost me over $10, and I was not impressed. Pretty mediocre quantity and quality. As for their World Famous cheesy potatoes -- I can cook better than that at home. One good thing I can say about the place is that it was clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. Over all, an average BBQ place which was disappointing consider the other reviews. I doubt I'd eat there again.

Didn't know what to expect but was surprised. Ordered the number 3 which is a Q-Cup and drink. I an not a bean eater but the beans are fantastic, cheesy potatoes are heavenly and three types of meat that come with the cup of heaven were tender and very flavorful. Cost 9.95 for the meal before tax. Am still full almost an hour after eating.

I picked Lonnie Q's because it had some good reviews and the location is convenient if you are driving in from the east on I70. Even though we arrived shortly after 11am, there was a line. One of the reasons there is a constant line, besides the good barbecue, is because the food is served rather slow. The food was very good though. All in our party of four had brisket and cheesy potatoes. I think we would all come back again.

Overall best BBQ I've ever had, great big portions, great service, and great owner. Lonnie comes out and gives you your food if there is a crowd, and once things settle down he comes out and makes sure everything is perfect with your food. Definitely try a little bit of everything on the menu and make sure you're in town when it's open! Also if you are a fan of Eric Clapton or Kansas rock group, make sure to ask him about his hand painted murals and other cool rock memorabilia hanging on the wall. Very cool guy and very good food!

Great little family run bbq joint in the middle of nowhere in Topeka. It's located next to a construction company and an RV park. Odd location but doesn't stop people from showing up in droves. They are only open for a couple of hours a day and when they run out of something it's done for the day. Ribs only available on Thursday and Friday and generally sell out within a half hour. Brisket and pork were gone by the time I got there. I was only able to try the turkey which was awesome. It was the juiciest smoked turkey I've ever had. The cheesy taters were awesome as a side. I thought the beans were so so. Great service by friendly people. Don't miss this one.

Amazing food and even better service. After sitting down with my Cup-o-heaven I quickly realized I wouldn’t have enough time to let the fresh cheesy taters cool down before I had to leave for a meeting I couldn’t miss. I got a to-go box and rushed out the door... As soon as I stepped out I was surprised to see Lonnie bolt out a side door and check with me to make sure everything was ok? As if I was leaving quickly for poor food or service. This was hardly the case as I told him “ nope I’m just very late to somewhere and I’ll finish this when I arrive!” I’ve never seen someone so attentive to his guests and it sure shows .... Thanks again Lonnie, lunch was fantastic as always.

It’s a lotta BBQ and really good. This place is a hidden gem in Topeka, just east of downtown. It’s off the beaten track, and you’ll need to find it using your favorite mapping app, but when you do you’ll be glad you were there. I ordered the number two combo which includes a side and a drink. Lonnie gave me a sampling of his pork, beef brisket, and turkey on a nice soft bun. The meats were very tender, and just plain delicious! You will definitely want to order up the cheesy potatoes, and the coleslaw is very good too. There are plenty of places to sit and have your meal, and while you’re doing that you can check out some of the Lonnie’s collectibles on the walls in the restaurant. This is my second visit to the restaurant, and it’s always the same great experience.

Just got back from Lonnie's and can't breath, and I've gained a couple pounds. Hands down, the very best BBQ in the state! Lonnie's opens for supper at 530pm on Fridays, but you better get there by at least 5pm. I got there at 5, and I was still 8th or 9th in line! Get there too late and you won't eat. They are only open for 2 hours.

I’ve traveled all over the US to try different barbecue joints in various regions. I always order the same menu items so I can compare every restaurant based on the same stuff. We’ve tried this place multiple times and just don’t get the raves. The brisket is mushy, ribs are eh, and the cheesy potatoes are just okay. Unfortunately the food is bland. Owner is super nice and service is great but this is by far the most over-hyped BBQ in the Midwest.

This was some of the Best BBQ that I've ever had.... and I eat a LOT of BBQ. We all had the "Cup of Heaven", and it was DELICIOUS! Lonnie's famous Potato & Cheese casserole and beans topped with a generous helping of Pulled Pork, Smoked Turkey, and Brisket. It was Awesome. We also sampled his Cole Slaw and a half rack of Ribs. OH MY. I would put his Ribs up against anyone's. The meat was tender and was falling off the bone. INCREDIBLE!!! Thanks, Lonnie! We will definitely come back next time we are in your area!!

The food was great, same goes for the service, you can not complain about that. The decoration is typically rustic, for a BBQ very ordinary, but not for everyone. Nevertheless, a recommendation for a visit.

My wife and I love Lonnie Q's. It is great BBQ, love the beans and potato casserole. It's really nice to have such a wonderful restaurant on the Southeast side of Topeka which is convenient to the interstate. I would recommend Lonnie Q's food and the staff is always friendly.
