Very nice staff, always kept our drinks full, our hibachi guy was freaking awesome!! He kept conversation with us the whole time! Super friendly and hilarious. We all laughed a lot. And the food was amazing!! We are 2 hrs away but I would def go back again if in the area. We was there on a Monday for lunch.

We love our experiences here! The yum yum sauce it's a bit too watery but it still tastes good. We have not had hibachi here but we always love our intimate experience in the regular seating area. Drinks are not so good either but the portions and taste are always spot on!

Tried this Japanese Restaurant on a weekend with a couple of friends. Everything tasted good, being cooked right in front of us by the Chef. We had some vegan friends too in the group and they had options for them as well... It was fun to watch the Chef perform the tricks. He created the Hawaiian volcano with onions. Also, liked his humorous comments as he performed his tricks....!!! Overall... It was a great experience...!! Definitely recommend this place.

Kyoto for a typical Japanese steak house and grill is surprisingly good in many ways. The meat normally at places like these traditional are tough or fatty and not good at all. Kyoto however was the exact opposite. The steak and chicken were amazing. And while I do not care for Sushi my kids and wife loved every roll they had. We plan to visit again. - Clean - Fast seating if you dont need the grill show. - Great food

If you love sushi Kyoto will not dissapoint. They also have hibachi and other options but the sushi is so good I have never ordered anything but it. Beautiful presentation as well. I have been frequenting this restaurant since they opened in the early 2000's. The service is great, and the food is delicious (sushi and hibachi). If you're with someone who is a sushi skeptic, order a crazy monkey roll - I don't know anyone who would dislike this roll! Additionally, the chefs are very engaging. I have been to a few hibachi where the chefs do not engage with their table and just cook the food. That is not the case here; the chefs are always fun, friendly, and entertaining.

Came here with my boyfriend for dinner on a Sunday night, knowing it would be busy because of past experiences. We were wanting to do hibachi, but it was all booked if you did not have a reservation. So we decided to dine in and order from the sushi bar instead. The server was quick, though it was busy. We ordered two rolls and some nigiri.

I've been here a few times for a fun time and good food. Really try the hibachi, that's where it's the most entertaining. Their sushi is great and the booths can be very private. Very busy and it doesn't look very impressive from the outside, however inside it's a bustling restaurant full of energy. Food is consistently good. Price is more than reasonable. I'll be bringing groups here again and again.

This was my first visit to Kyoto. We sat in one of the private table rooms. You have to take your shoes off before entering. The floor is sunken and the seats are built-in benches at walk-in level. It would comfortably fit six people. The food was delicious and served quickly. They have a nice variety of rolls. They also have hibachi stations, tables, or you can sit at the bar and watch the chefs make the sushi. I recommend happy hour!

Way overpriced for the low quality of food that is served. The chefs try to prepare to many things at one time overcooking the food. Little to no seasoning leaves the food tasteless. I was extremely disappointed. The biggest disappointment was the scallops that were served with no sauce on them and were very rubbery and fishy.

The restaurant was very busy for a Sunday night. Pro. Very good food, quick and entertaining. Price was about what I would expect for this type of restaurant, a little on the high side. Con. Our server may have been new or just lacked training. He failed to bring an appetizer. His attention to detail is the only reason for 4 stars rather than 5. We will try it again to be sure.

Always enjoyable. It is a nice local tepenaki grill. Meals come with soup, salad, veggies rice (fried is $2.50 more), shrimp and the meal. The show is fun and routine. Tastes great, but nothing really differentiates this from any other Japanese steakhouse.

Enchanting atmosphere, delicious food. We went here because my wife is a huge fan of the Japanese culture, and it had Kyoto in the name (iconic city). By far the best sushi we've ever had. Hibachi grillers were friendly and creating a fun atmosphere at each station. The restaurant had a buzz from all the folks there having a good time and laughing. There was a birthday party at one grill, and a family with some young kiddos at another. Everyone was having fun and entertained. There was Japanese decor all over the restaurant that felt like we were almost with someone in their home. Very impressed, and anxious to bring a crew with us next time and experience this place with a group. A new favorite of ours.

It's not cheap, but the quality was really outstanding. We went on a Saturday right when they opened and got salmon, tuna, and yellowtail sashimi with miso soup to start. The miso had a really great flavor, though very little tofu or seaweed. But the sashimi was extremely fresh and tasty, all around. I don't expect sushi to be cheap, but I at least want it to be this good if it's going to cost that much.

Wow! This is by far the best overall sushi deal we’ve found to date. This spread of 4 sushi rolls was less than $20 during happy hour. Plenty to fill you up. The Hibachi was busy too, for a Tuesday night and everyone looked to be having a great time.

Very good. Food was tasty. I have been to a couple dozen of Japanese Teppanyaki restaurants and this one is in the top 20%. The taste of the food was better than usual, except one of my guest's chicken was a bit overdone and dry. The fried tofu was a wonderful option for our vegetarian guest. Some thought the teriyaki sauce was too sweet, but I chalk that up to personal preference. The vegetables, meats, fried rice, and seafood were cooked and seasoned better than most similar places I have been. The quality of the meat and seafood was between good and very good. The dipping sauces were very tasty. The chef did some tricks and was friendly and mixed in a few jokes, but nothing outside of the typical japanese steakhouse experience; I would say about average on the entertainment factor. There were chefs that had more or less exuberance at surrounding tables, so you take a chance there. It seems like all Teppanyaki restaurants follow the same rough draft of a script. The really fun ones feature chefs that are either really funny or have sick knife/spatula/fire skills. This place seems to have chefs that follow the script in a friendly but business-like manner. Kyoto requires reservations on weekends and strongly suggests reservations during the week and it feels like they are pushing you out of your chair a little bit when the chef is done with the show. Heaven help you if you show up more than 10 minutes late for your reservation and don't think about checking in before your party is complete; it seems like they have no sympathy for stragglers. Service was good; everyone got what/how they ordered and it was fast. Maybe a little bit too fast... The place was very clean. I would go back to this place before other similar restaurants in the KC area.

I went for an early birthday dinner. There were six of us. I called ahead and made a reservation for the hibatchi side. This was my first time to a place like this and I was not disappointed. When you walk in the door, they immediately set the mood. We were seated upon arrival. I ordered the tempura shrimp sushi and the philadelphia roll for appetizers. Then the grilled shrimp and ribeye for the meal. It came with miso soup first, then a small salad (I chose ranch. It tasted more like a coleslaw. Still pretty good), followed by the fried rice (well balanced, no weird veggies, and they serve a very large portion), finally the meat/seafood portion. It was all made fresh in front of you. Wasn't a fan of the chicken teriyaki. Another person from our party ordered that. The chef was subtle. Very funny. Interactive with the whole group. He threw shrimp across the room and someone caught it in their mouth. In case you've never been, you eat your meal in parts. Not all at once. I wasnt aware of that. I ordered a margarita to drink. I am sure that isn't what they're known for. Yet, still very enjoyable. Overall, it was a wonderful first time experience and I would go back.

Sashimi was very good late on a Thursday. Standard hibachi fair, which is to say they got the marks. However, the sashimi grade fish was close to melt in your mouth. Come for what matters, you'll be entertained too.

This place entertains as well as provides good food. The chefs at the grill are friendly and make you feel comfortable. They have a large menu selection. The sushi bar has two vegetarian options and a soy paper subsitiute too if you're not a fan of the seaweed. It lost a star for me because it takes awhile for the food to be ready. Especially the sushi. Still worth the wait!

Oh the goodness!!! Worthy of 5 stars. Had 6 rolls, two appetizers(Tempura Calamari and Veggies) and a soup for around 70$. The Spider and The Sexy Lady of course were delicious but the Winner of Dinner goes to the K.M. Roll. Under 10 bucks and absolutely delicious! Appetizers were hot and fresh. If you are hungry for sushi, this place can't be beat! Service was great, shout out to Jo. Thank you!

We visited the hibachi grill side and did not have any sushi but the service was excellent and the food was very good. You go for the atmosphere and it was excellent. The seasoning was a little light on the steak and the chicken was a bit over cooked but our party was pretty large with just about everything on the menu ordered. Overall good experience and would recommend - will try again ourselves.

Just ok. Small lunch portions except for the rice. I wasn't impressed with taste either. I had the 6 oz. lobster and it was cut up in small pieces and seemed fried, but may not have been. It wasn't at all what or how I expected it. It was not very warm and a little tough. The hibachi area was full so we couldn't sit in that area. Maybe food is better when they cook it in front of you. I doubt I'll go back. Not even worth a second chance in my opinion.

Been here a few times, multiple times on the sushi side and once on the hibachi side. The sushi is fantastic and their happy hour prices are hard to beat! You had better go with a group, though. It's apparent that they want what's in your wallet. Table service is slow, even when we went around 3:30; they were nearly dead. With a group they're much more helpful. On the hibachi side, the chicken was really dry. It's an entertaining show they have, but nobody in my party super impressed with the food. The price was O.K.

One of my favorites sushi places to go to. Got to try the Christmas roll even if it's in the middle of summer. Such friendly people there. Great selection on their menu.

I happened to go there during happy hour, which was nice. Great prices during happy hour. There weren't very many customers there at all so our service was fast. Nice hostesses. The sushi was okay. The rolls are smaller than other places I've been to.
