REVIEWS OF KIN LIN IN Kansas

KIN LIN FOR THE WIN! We have been coming to KIN LIN for years and always find fast, friendly service and fresh, delicious food. We recently stopped in for lunch and ordered our favorite dish, green bean and tofu, along with some Crab Rangoon and fried rice. Everything was hot and wonderful, perfectly seasoned and elegantly served. Our server was personable and efficient. We plan to go back to KIN LIN and hope that others may enjoy their food as well.

Soapy Cheezus

It’s really just okay. The service is good and the food is quick, but it wasn’t the greatest thing I’ve ever eaten. I will have to give it another shot because they have quite a few vegetarian/vegan options.

Cozy atmosphere. Delicious meals, very fair pricing and choice meat selections. Definitely comfortable ordering their chicken. Wish they were open later and holidays!!!

Mediocre Food

Very little parking and kind of hard to find. Staff were not present to greet guests upon entering, booths were a bit too small to accommodate 4 guests. The table was only set in anticipation of 2 guests instead of the standard 4 to a booth. Lunch specials are not well balanced with cuisine diversity to appeal to different tastes. The special itself is oddly unbalanced; inclusion of either steamed or plain fried rice with a single egg/spring roll or crab rangoon. customary inclusion of Asian soup was a foreign concept to this establishment which I found odd. No details in menu items to give customers an idea of what they're ordering. Upon request of information regarding various dishes of similar name, waitress seemed ill prepared to inform guests and a misunderstanding occurred. Had to return my dish for another. The rice was quite bland and didn't have that classic sticky rice texture everyone loves, but rather had a pretty hard texture. I had the sweet and sour chicken which was delightfully golden and crunchy, but the sauce was oddly watered down in taste (yet not in texture or consistency). Spring roll was unremarkable. My companion ordered the wanton soup and found it to be rather watery, unflavored. Although it took slightly longer to prep than the typical egg drop soup. This light watery soup contained an obnoxious amount of vegetables that cluttered it as if it were falsely presented as a stew rather than a light soup. Oddly enough, there's a strange rule that bars guests from making any substitutions to meals. Otherwise, staff remained fairly attentive and amicable.

Tracy Owings

Terrible experience ! Food was not as ordered and the crab rangoon is dried up!

Malik watson

Horrible establishment yelled at on the phone because she told me we do have a 2 dollar delivery charge then demanded I tip also onto that. Refused my order because i simply stated im not obligated to tip so can u take my order now. Then screams at me for 5 min saying i have to tip i respect my employees more than the customers. Yes this is the owner who refuses to give me her name.

Nice food

They have a great priced lunch menu if you want to eat cheap. Otherwise, there is a second menu if you ask that has more athentic food if you are looking for something really good.

Ripon Saha

The employees are very rude. They don’t have the warmth when they serve food. The food quality is also average and not worth the money at all. Stay away.

Alberto Cabigting

Never disappointed coming here.

Annette Rasmussen

Lovely dinner, large portions, great service!

Nicole Turner

Ordered delivery and it was delivered quickly. Called a few weeks later and they insisted that I was out of their delivery area even though when I gave them my number my order history popped up showing we had been delivered to before. When I asked why they delivered once, but wouldn't again, he said the delivery driver didn't want to drive that far. The restaurant is 5 min from my house by car. They have definitely lost a customer.

Christian Lyle

I’m really disappointed that I have to leave this review. The food is fine however the service is slow and the staff is rude. My wife and I had started eating at Kin Lin pretty regularly, both take away and dine in. If you’re doing take away or Postmates then you’re good, dine in I would avoid. The staff is discrated when their slow, often talking or watching TV, and very rude and slow when they are busy at all. The last time we ate there my wife asked what the ingredents were in a dish and the waitress huffed, rolled her eyes and said “what do you think is in it?”. It was pretty shocking and a real let down. Everyone gets busy and has bad days however this is her job and we never got an apology or recognition from her that she had really done anything wrong at all. This on top of lack luster service in the past makes Kin Lin an easy pass. Lucky for everyone Blue koi is on Postmates now!

Isaac Allen

Love how flexible this place is! A KC institution!

Justen Grindstaff

Not good. I had the Orange Chicken with Fried Rice to go. The price was around $13.75. The rice was very dry. The quality of chicken varied piece to piece. Some ok, some I couldn't finish chewing. After I ran into an inch long bone fragment I threw the rest away. I have no idea how this place has 4.1 stars.

Nathaniel Bozarth

I don't eat a lot of Chinese food so I'm not a knowledgeable critic. All I'll stay is that the spicy crispy chicken did not complete me to suddenly change my eating habits.

Brian Mulligan

Awesome food and service.

Jane Lisky

Good food! Great service!

Christie Webb

Wonderful Chinese restaurant. The portions are plentiful (the large of anything will feed 4 people) and the staff are friendly. If you like traditional Chinese dishes, ask about the Traditional Menu.

Matt McCann

Crispy chicken (made regular style with the sweet gravy). Bam.

RICHARD HUDDLESTON

to much soy sauce

Bill Johnson

The best chicken fried rice in town! Disappointed that the mu shu isn't served with pancakes...that's kinda the WHOLE POINT of that dish....

Max M.

Great little restaurant near the college. Service is fast and the food is great!

B Taylor

Please save your money and go to Panda Express this is gross flavorless as of 09/18/19 not at all as it used to be

Iryna Stroganova

Loved it!

Kaizen Torres

Food quality (including taste) needs improvement.

Jane Mahara

Kin Lin's shrimp friend rice is truly a masterpiece. I have been to so many Chinese restaurants but I haven't had shrimp friend rice anywhere that is as good as Kin Lin's. In addition, the service is exceptional especially the personal touch that makes me feel that I am part of the family.

Becca Ann

I love this place. Great food. Great service. Good location! Yum!

Gharib Gharibi

Kin Lin is not bad at all actually. Compared to other Chinese restaurants, they are pretty clean and friendly. They have a wide variety of dishes. My favorites are Beef noodles soup and the Cumin Beef. You can always customize your dishes to your like. Their lunch special is pretty good deal. You get decent portions for pretty cheap price (great for UMKC students lol)

George Cochran

the vegetarian lo mein wasn’t very good but the staff were helpful and nice

Ryan Hood

Solid, but limited portion size. Also $6 Tsingtao is kind of insane.

Jojo Rambo

Very judgmental place and rude !

Randy Greene

This place never disappoints. It's the best Chinese food in Kansas City!

Elizabeth Decker

Dinner came and there was a massive spider in my rice. Clearly couldn’t eat after that and I told her that. No management would speak to me about the situation. They tried to charger me for the meals. I told them that I would pay for the appetizers that were half eaten but nothing else. They just laughed. The only person who cared or felt bad was the waitress

Danny Herrington

Service was incredibly slow, but the food was excellent and cheap. Great for a quick bite, but be ready to flag down your waiter if you're on a time crunch.

Brooke Polk

Soup was luke-warm by the time we got it home. Had to go back to restaurant as they "forgot" to put the crab rangoons in our carryout order. THEY GAVE US FREE RICE! WHOOP-TE-DO!!!!! That must have set them back like 10 cents... Also they had no wanton sauce "so sorry, we out" Soup was cold by the time we returned (we live 5 minutes away) as was the rest of our food. Portions were small for the price, total bill was $19 for two people and nothing left over. All those reviews about the hard-working owners must be written by college students who don't put in 40+ a week. Don't waste your time with this place, it ain't worth it.

Karli Cash

Spicy Crispy Chicken

Kyla Smith

Spicy crispy chicken is yummy

Troy Norris

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Great food at an amazing value and complete with neighborly service, amazing lunch specials, and a spectacular atmosphere.

Nikki Franken

I LOVE this place! Food is great and delivery is always quick!

Lena Li

My top 2 Chinese restaurant in KC. Ask for the Chinese menu for the really authentic dishes. Their homemade pickled veggies and smoked pork are the best, and you can't find these elsewhere. The waiters and waitresses are fine, while the owner's service highly depends on the owner's mood; the boss can be super sweet until you try to argue something. I just periodically visit there for the authentic, spicy food.

Kevin Ginn

I have been a customer for many years and have come to accept that typically when I order online that even if I choose fried rice I most often get white rice. Today a customer in front of me was angry that his order wasn’t correct and he had to return and still the replacement wasn’t as expected. I grabbed my order and before I got a block away I was called and told that a mistake had been made as my pork LP mien was instead a fried rice dish. I returned for the correction and with unpacking the bag I checked everything and again I had white instead of fried rice. I like the food here but definitely recommend checking your order upon pick up for accuracy.

Dulaney Tjarks

4.5- These guys make great food. The handmake all their sauces and their prices are quite reasonable for the portions. A great lunch option! Would recommend their bean curd soup for the vegetarian and gluten-free options.

Jon Loesing

Unique Chinese cuisine and good service

RIPAN BHOWMIK

Cheap Chinese food... good service taste kind of okay

Nicholas Finzer

We've only had delivery and take out from here so far, but several times. All the staples have been very good, like fried rice, egg rolls, and lo mein, but when we've tried some of the other dishes we have occasionally been disappointed.

Kim Goossen

Ordered delivery of sesame chicken, steamed rice, and crab rangoon. The chicken was good but they gave me fried rice instead which had a weird taste to it. The crab rangoon also tasted old and was very dry. Very disappointed.

A Google User

Great food in a great atmosphere with reasonable prices. We have found our favorite Chinese place - our search is over. Love the General Tso's chicken.

J Williams

Ive been here so on so many occasions and never had a bad meal. The group I go with has yet another tradition - and here is a go-to. Except this time they ran out of hot green tea. Huh? It was freezing outside. Come on, folks. Keep our go-to solid. It was 8pm. Ah, well. It won't be 23 degrees for ever. But still. The Orange Chicken is still my favorite.

Kit Wong

Love the beef noodle soup and pork belly! Best authentic Chinese food in KC imho.

Robert Jackson

I had never heard of this place but my lovely lady forced me to take her for Chinese food. We saw Gary Lezak from NBC there which was a fun surprise. The nice guy at the front desk was very helpful with menu selections for our to go order. The food was ready in minutes, I had the curry chicken with french fries in it which was good but not as spicy as I thought it would be. It is clean, decent prices, good fresh food and fast... Really fast

Melissa McBrayer

Best Chinese food anywhere and best service! Highly recommend this place!

Siyi Wang

The Chinese menu is pretty authentic. The English menu is not good.

Taylor Rippe

I have gone to Kin Lin for years now and it seems that they're caring less and less about their food. I keep giving them chances and making excuses like "maybe their busy", but today, today, was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I ordered the traditional flat rice noodles and they were all stuck together like a brick of wet dough.

Lisa DeRose

My favorite place for Chinese food! Always friendly staff and fresh delicious food!

Kat M

A new favorite

Anil Raghavan

Stood at the front for a few minutes, no one even out there. Then someone came by and said "Sit anywhere you like". So we did. 5 minutes go by .. not a soul came by. Three of the waiters/waitresses were sitting at a corner table, doing something. So we walked out. Excellent job!

Mick Alley

Always good and fresh. Service is friendly and prompt!

Angela Lax

Terrible service!! I stood at the counter for 10 minutes and had several employees see me standing there before anyone actually came over to take my order. It was very overpriced, and I asked for fried rice instead of white and got white. I was also hit on by the man taking my order. I will never go back.

Wuji Fei

Pretty nice Chinese restaurant in KC. They have a Chinese menu for authentic Chinese food if you ask them. The portions are good, and the dishes are well prepared. I would say this is on par with the Sichuan Dynasty in Overland Park. These 2 are the only places in town where you can get some authentic Chinese food.

Giti Rustami

Probably the worst Chinese food i have ever had. Had the shrimp vegetables today, it was like a shrimp soup with absolutely no taste to it. Horrible

Scarlett Cooper

I love eating here. Lo mein and egg drop soup are my faves. Not a fan of the fried rice that comes with lunch. Not much flavor. But you get a lot of food for the money.

Steve Morse

Seriously I still haven't found a decent Chinese place in KC, tried 5 and I'd say this one was the worst. Lo mein basically fettucine noodles with some oil and uncut vegetables, the regular egg rolls had seafood in it, no warning. If you want boiled food with some water and oil poured on it after this is your place.

Danielle Mattox

Great place friendly people

Crystal Lewis

I love the food here! I love the spicy chicken kin Lin's style! Very spicy and delicious! Delivery is available, you can walk in and pick up orders or sit in and dine!

Choco Holic

Delicious food!! Was very fresh.

Mackenzie Clark

Timely delivery and good Chinese

Noah

Pretty good

Judy Greve

Reasonably priced, fresh food. Lunch specials include crab Rangoon or spring roll. They've worked hard to grow and make it a beautiful place with much Chinese decor.

John Keerthi Paul Bhamidipati

Average quality food.

Zach Jones

The food was great. They have a house made mustard they have available upon request that has great flavor, but not quite the kick I was expecting. I prefer mustard that burns my insides uncomfortably for a good 45 minutes after consumption, but this one only gave approximately 5-10 minutes of intense pain.

Bavard Rahdar

This place is awesome. I frequently travel to KC with my team and we make it a point to go here every time. Great Food and Service.

Connie Judd-Sullivan

The service was incredible. I accidentally found this place when my dad was in the hospital and I was really wanting good food for takeout. The food was amazing it was absolutely mouth watering. Definitely will be back

Minjia Tang

Some food taste good, some average. But the customer service is the worst I've ever seen. I went to there with my wife and in laws, my in laws complaint one chinese dish didn't cook right, the material was not right and cooked too hard. The waitress just said they can't do anything about it. We didn't ask for anything. The supervisor, maybe one of the owners came over suggest we took it home and cook it again. What a jerk

Jane Hahn Leat

Ginger onion chicken is super tender. Spicy crispy chicken, Kin Lin style with lemon wedges to squeeze over the top is delicious. Hot and sour soup with plenty of white pepper. Great for family dinner or a solo meal.

Andrew Kunz

I came here when I was a college student. The next door university (UMKC) had terrible food and Kin Lin was a great pale lime walled hole in the ground good Chinese restaurant. Then, the dilapidated college classroom overflow was torn down and a new student dorm was put in. Eventually, Whole Foods became their primary tenet. And then Kin Lin made a massive upgrade, expanding space and turning itself into the kind of fancy restaurant to take your college significant other to on a date. (They were even playing classical music.) The atmosphere is great. The food is still affordable and very good. I had the triple delight with spicy seasoning (chicken, beef, & shrimp) and it was delicious and as spicy as I liked it! Parking is much more challenging than I remember it, but isn’t that bad as it goes for just being outside the plaza. I would eat here very often if I were a student now.

L C

Great prices but not so great food. The Chinese food is average tasting

Karina Mendoza

First time there tonight and i loved the food. Great customer service everyone really polite and i love how they have bilinguals.. recomeded by a friend. Recomended to you by me....

Bronco Green

An alright place. A tad overpriced, but good. Btw, the waiter there named David is awesome. If he wants to bring you something better, let him. He knows his stuff.

Kallie Wolver

Me and a few of my girlfriends come here often to caught up on life and are always impressed. I never have left overs the food is amazing. Over the year there had been many changes but for the better. I totally recommend Kin Lin.

Mary Raymond

This place always has great food and service. Most importantly, special requests are not a problem. Tonight 6 of us visited and 3 of us ordered the same triple delight dish at different spice levels; spicy, just a little spicy and no spice and, as usual, they nailed it. The chicken dishes were delicious as well. Requesting vegetable omissions or substitutes is not a problem. We also had crab rangoon, egg rolls, hot and sour soup and egg drop soup. Everything was delivered timely, at a perfect temperature and was delicious. It's always worth the drive. The decor is a simple, clean, Asian elegance and and the atmosphere is welcoming and makes you feel like you're visiting friends; which you will be if you eat there often. With consistently exceptional food, friendly staff and owners it is no wonder they have a steady dine in and take out business. If you haven't tried this place, you are missing out.

Blair Ewell

Thought we found a great place for Chinese as we are new to area. We sat for an HOUR with no food and no explanation as everyone else who came in 1/2 hour after us received their food. We actually thought we were being pranked!! They brought my sons food all by itself with no rice and never came back. This had to be worst service I have ever had and we eat out at least 3-4 times a week. Really thought it was a joke to be honest. After a few tables got their food we finally got up and left. Food must be exceptional for these guys to be in business still.

Randall Levy

Worst restaurant and customer service ever. Never delivered my food and kept hanging up on me when I called about it. Do not order here.

Schmuel

Got the Gen. Tso’s. Hard as a rock on top of old rice. Also ordered an egg roll, which came 15min. before my entree. Also the place was 80+ degrees inside. I’ll maybe try again if I can’t find another close option. Take out to be sure.

Cody Young

Delicious food. Fair price. Large portions. Quick service.

Thorn Andel

The food is fantastic, friendly staff and fast delivery. What else could you ask for? Oh maybe extra sauce. ㋡

Dustin Lindgren

Great food and service. The two things we ordered came with a bunch of veggies not mentioned on the menu. Overly picky eaters should be a little cautious. Overall great service and food. The owner seemed very thankful for us to come by and it was very reasonably priced compared to food in the plaza.

Tammi Zimmerman

Very good service and food.

bobby gaines

Loved it, crab rangoon is better than most all places in town and has extra special sweet and sour sauce.

Matt Heck

Horrible experience. Ordered general chicken and it came with no veggies. The size of the container definitely is not worth the money. My crab rangoons were stale and the cream on the inside was old tasting. The only thing I enjoyed was the fortune cookie.. wouldn't recommend this place to anyone... My first and last time ever ordering from Kin lin.

Sabrina Diaz

Their food is very fresh and tasty! Owners and staff are very friendly and I've always had a good experience with going there for birthdays and family dinners. I will be back soon :)

Rewind

I was heartbroken to move away from Kansas City simply because I've never had better Chinese food anywhere. Period. This place is right next to the UMKC campus and is super teeny. There are some booths and a communal table in the middle, or you can get it to go. The restaurant is packed at peak times, and the staff are efficient. They take your money, you get your meal. They aren't overly friendly, but who needs friendly when you're eating the best Chinese meal you've ever had?

Kelley Seitter

There's a guy who serves during lunch that is very curt. Never asked if I wanted a drink before I even ordered and instead brought me room temp water. Overall he made me feel very rushed even though there was maybe one other table occupied. When I go in the evenings though I never have any issues. Everyone is very nice and carry out is simple and quick.

Frankie Bellucci

Pretty sure this is some of the very best and well-made Chinese food in the city. I would put it in my top 3 for sure. The staff is friendly. The food is always fresh. And it is very reasonably priced.

Aravind Ranganathan

Worst Service ever 1) they didn't give me the menu 2) they refilled my water once 3) they didn't come to check on us 4) i didn't leave a tip because i wasn't respected and one of the waiter stopped me at the door and forced me to leave a tip, and when i told him the service was bad he said well you take out next time don't come in and eat!!! he is a brown tone gentle man with a long hair and has beard watch out for this guy as he is very very rude...

Nicha Sukittiyanon

BAD SERVICE. PERIOD. Food was okay BUT you can have this typical chinese food elsewhere with BETTER service & probably tastes a lot better than here. I really hope there is more chinese restaurant around here so people have more choices.

Eric Borlaug

Along with ABC Cafe, this is the best Chinese restaurant in the metro. The most important thing to know is that there are two menus, the regular menu designed for the typical American palate, and the somewhat secret menu filled with authentic Chinese classics. Also know that the lovely staff is often willing to make dishes off the menu for those craving particular dishes. One example is an exquisite tart and slightly spicy pork belly dish with pickled vegetables. Service is excellent, and they often have local KC beers on tap. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. Decor is very tasteful and homey. One of the gems of the KC culinary scene.

JeanHelene Davis

So much construction going on in the area but WE'LL WORTH braving it for this good food

Michael DePriest

Food quality is poor, they didn't honor what was printed on there website (free soup for orders over $20) they forgot my condiment request) I basically wasted $28 dollars. Never again! I gave two star because the delivery guy was polite.

Tim W

I have been coming here for 30 years. Always great. They make their egg drop soup right, which is not always the case around k.c. You do not wait long on dine-in or to-go orders either.

Amy Jantz

Amazing Food. Amazing staff. Always very well taken care of here.

Daniel Sucher

Cheap, good, and quick.

Micah

Cold. Asked to have it heated up. Still cold. Very hard. Tastes like chicken flavored crispy tofu not real chicken. Customer service from the waiter was decent but apparently the cooks don’t care about quality of food. This place used to be good, now it’s not worth giving another chance.

Brian Carson

Read several of the reviews and saw both good and bad. We decided to give it a shot. Well it was a mistake. First no one seats you it is a sit where you want place. The servers stand behind a counter and great you. The menu does not provide the details of the dishes. While this may seem like it would not be a big deal, you do not if the dish is served in a white or brown sauce or if it has peanuts or other items you might be allergic to. The appetizers were great, hot and timely. The issues began with the main courses. The shrimp fried rice had a sour odor to it and the shrimp tasted spoiled. It was sent back. Next we found a hair in the beef and broccoli. It was sent back. No one apologize for it, a manager did not come to our table and I had to ask for both items to be taken off the bill.

Caleb Todd

Best Chinese in KC, especially if you're vegetable-oriented. And the best stuff's on the Authentic Chinese menu.

Yolanda Smith

I have always enjoyed the food here and when they deliver.

Mina Holmes

Stomach ache after eating fried chicken wings, spring roll mushy filling. They added a tip on my takeout order when I didn't add. Calling my bank and health department. I'm a former guest service manager. Cashier was nice when I asked for cup of water while I wait outside. Not trustworthy

Daniel Lopez

Kin Lin has an amazing service and an even better food. Prices are ok. Try out their vegetable noodle soup, it's huge and very tasty.

kelly fadous

Love the sauces on the table. Wait staff are friendly. Near campus. Love the tofu and green beans. Just wish they served ice in drinks and drinks not from a can. Other than that, very good and very convenient.

Kat Arte

Staff is friendly, food is good, portions are pretty large, service is quick. Really convenient location for college students. Maybe not the most amazing chinese food you'll find, but still pretty good, and other positives make up for any points lost.

Kaia Schott

Their establishment is clean, their food is great but still reasonably priced, their portion sizes are awesome, and their service is unbelievably quick (and quality). I can't recommend them enough. I also recommend their Fried Tofu & Green Bean dish!!!!!

Kennady Gales

Never met someone who doesn't deserve my business more than the crabby old man and woman at Kin Lin. I was a regular probably eating here 2 or 3 times a week EVERY WEEK for a good 3 or 4 months (even though they got my order wrong almost EVERY SINGLE TIME) until recently the old man was so rude and disrespectful to me that I have vowed to never go back. If you want a horrible dining experience at a restaurant that is AT BEST a 6/10 and that the workers treat you like garbage then Kin Lin is the place for you.

Melanie Biggers

Came with a co-worker during lunch. The food was hot and fast with good customer service. The price was pretty reasonable too.

Yi DENG

Suggested by a Chinese friend who've lived in KC for more than ten years. Pretty authentic Chinese cuisine! Will come here again next time visiting KC.

Madderdaddy T

Great food and staff!!!

Liman Mike

Authentic Chinese (not americanized) food with reasonable price. Remember to get the Chinese menu for the good meal.

Ravitej Veeramachaneni

Easily one of the best Chinese restaurants I have been to. Their curry flavor of everything adds an extra flair and offers something no one else offers. Hard to match their taste anywhere else.

Bobby Broadway

pretty good love their sweet and sour sauce.

Brent Buchanan

Totally met my expectations! Nice environment and great food! I recommend the dumplings and the curry chicken fried rice

Joseph Yeow

This place has been around for many years and it was known for traditional Chinese cuisine. In recent years, the quality of their dishes has gone down while prices has gone up. I stopped ordering entree, instead I stayed with their noodles dishes just because of the same great tasting that I’m used to. Get a bowl of traditional beef noodle soup and it won’t disappoint you.

Kina Rock

Nasty and I’m sick today. Greasy noodles, spring rolls were horrible and crab Rangoon was hard with as little filling as possible. Don’t waste your money. This place use to be my favorite now I won’t even go back! Disgusting and they’re going to mess around and kill somebody serving that old food.

Fatimah Alsinan

I can't say much about the food because I have tried one dish .. But that was my first and my last time going to this place I felt like I was treated rudely there by someone I think she is the owner but I am not sure who exactly is she. I am not Chinese and I was treated with an extreme annoying stereotyped ideas . I didn't get an authentic menu even thou it has English text ,my Chinese friends got bowls with chopsticks and I got a plate without even a spoon , I finally ordered after I felt like I am not allowed to get anything from authentic menu like I don't belong to that list and the food was placed on the table. Then I tried to talk with her to ask for a bowl and chopsticks instead of the place and before I even talk she is telling that this my meal right here . I got frustrated but I actually know what I ordered and I know that's my food. . I wasn't going to talk about that. It was a really unpleasant experience and I rather go home without dinner over eating there . This is not the first time I go to a Chinese or Asian restaurant but this is the first time I get treated that way . Don't assume that your not Chinese customer want a plate and spoon , ask them Don't assume that they don't know the authentic food ,give the a choice Listen to them before you starts making them feel disrespect.. If you are not welling to do so then close your business or don't serve or welcome anyone who's not Chinese

Steve Perry

I debated between giving this review 3 stars (it's okay) and 4 stars (I liked it). I did like my lunch, but not until after I added some soy sauce (the equivalent of adding salt). So this tells me that either the food/sauce was under seasoned to begin with, or the ingredients were not as fresh and flavorful as they should have been. Don't get me wrong, my food looked great and they get credit for the variety of vegetables which gave lots of different textures; just tasted bland. As the customer at the table next to me pointed out, they are very quick to serve after ordering. This was great since he didn't have long for lunch. I think food came out within a minute or two after ordering.

Aaron Lee

It seemed the restaurant is owned by a family and their attitude to customers was rude when I visited there.

Shaka Kane

I was a regular. Ordered the same thing every Thursday with my mother. Today , I tried something new and didn’t like it at All. I asked for my regular and the Owner YELLED at me and my 60 year old mother , refusing to replace my undercooked food. I’m very hurt that I have to take my business else where . Kin Lin has been a Favorite of mine since before the renovation. Unfortunately , I can’t condone this service and will never recommend it to my coulleges , friends , or family again. Good luck.

Diann Mazurek

Great food; great service!

phoon chan

Food and the "Bill" came at the same time. That's ridiculous.

Aseya Siddiqua

Awesome service and great food !! Overall enjoy going there all the time, whether its alone or with a group of friends !

Nicole Blount

Will never waste my money again. Food is too much of a hit and miss. Ordered a regular sized shrimp fried rice "a little spicy with $2 extra shrimp". Came to about $17 total and not worth it. Cook added obnoxious amount of pepper flakes it consumed the dish. They use the little shrimps in their fried rice which do not carry much flavor so it tasted like some overly spicy rice which I went home and tweaked just to make edible... Also have had pineapple shrimp fried rice and curry shrimp, both less flavor than expected and below the competition's standards... If you are this close to plaza just eat at P.F. Changs or Bolings.

Karie Helmuth

Very Authentic Chinese food!!

Le Duy

I came to Kim Lin every single week, but this time, they made me very disapointed, they give me the " old and cold" food. Not comeback anymore.

ciara massey

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I placed a delivery order on my lunch break while at work, and they never came . I called to ask where my order was he yelled and said “Well why didn’t you answer your phone?” When I told him that I can’t answer while I’m with a client, he said “fine, don’t call here anymore”. Lol literally the worst customer service.

Came in for lunch. Order was wrong on two counts. They corrected it, mostly, and then the order wasn't spicy as requested. They then forgot to bring chili out after the request. Sauce, besides not being spicy, was a tasteless brown. Fried rice was white rice with splotches of soy sauce. Server was distracted and not attentive. My order was cold by the time they finally corrected it. Oh, and they gave me the bill when they brought the food. Giving 2 stars instead of one because I've had a good meal here before in the past. I might give them one more try.

Great place for affordable Chinese food. Very Americanized. Close to UMKC so it's a nice study break dinner. Will definitely come back.

The owner's customer service is terrible!!! The food is over priced, and the food quantity is so much less than other places.

Wilma Roper

Good food. Friendly staff.

Super yummy

As far as delivery/take-out goes, one of the best values I've ever had. In case anyone is wondering, these are pictures of two menu items I had delivered to me via Postmates. The first one is the Kung Pao Chicken with Peanuts (lunch special). The second picture is Spicy Crispy Chicken (lunch special)

The best quick and easy Chinese food. Great selection and great price. The owners and servers are the best and treat you like family. They’re quick, which may come across as the servers being sharp or inconsiderate if you’re overly sensitive.

Service and food are always top notch. If you don't know exactly what you want, ask for suggestions, they won't steer you wrong.

Very bad. Ordered Hunan beef, fried rice and an eggroll. Eggroll was extremely greasy and lacked any flavor. Hunan beef again was very plain and flavorless. Fried rice appeared to be plain yellow rice, again with no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. Terrible overall.

Chinese food tailored to the college students in the area. Staff is always a hit or miss along with the food. Perfect for late nights, but not the easiest on the stomach. For Americanized Chinese food, there are better options in the Plaza or in Westport.

Food was delicious, service excellent and prices reasonable.

Sean Gao

Good food. But bad boss. Forced to charge our tips without consent. Double check your receipt before pay the bill.

The food is always great, but it is terribly over priced for the area that it is located. I will not go quite often due to the fact that there are other restaurants in the plaza area with just as good if not betebe food, and at a better price.

Max Ali

The food is not bad , but people who work not welcoming !

nikhil kumar

Not really special place .. regular every day food .. liked the fired chicken and never try noodles

Justin Seabaugh

Best Chinese food in the area, quality ingredients and good food. The soup is great! I've had better Chinese food in my life but this place is incredibly solid, you won't go wrong.

April Shields

Delicious as always and great service!

Kin Lin's sesame chicken is a gift from the gods. I eat here all of the time and love the environment and the food. Best place on campus to eat. Nothing else even comes close.
