For a chain, this is a Kansas City hidden gem. I go here often when I am in town. While the Tex-Mex is superb, I am not ashamed to say my favorite dish they have is the coconut crispy chicken salad. I ask for extra chicken. Its an amazing salad! Night bartender is great. He's been there for years.

Portions to price are perfect!!! I had the taco salad. The only critique I'd give is use a romaine lettuce over shredded iceburg. I also had some of Tequila lime Chicken which was Amazing. The meat was tender and full of flavor. Lastly I had the Mini Chimichangas. Great for a small snack. Almost forgot to mention that the salsa's have great flavor and match well with the thinner chips. I'd definitely come back and recommend Jose Peppers to a friend

The food is consistently good here. Service is usually great. We made it for happy hour and were told they were out of all draft beer so we would have to buy bottles of beer. I asked the server if they would be the same price as happy hour drinks. He said they would be. When the check came they were more expensive. He told me that was the happy hour price. I understand driving up sales but I knew he was lying to me. It’s just a shame that a place we like came down a notch or two.

Stopped in for a quick lunch, was a nice little place to eat, not my first time my any means. I stopped coming here for a long time because the food quality had gone downhill. To my surprise, it was getting back to where it should be. Ordered the lunch portion of the Monterey Chicken Burrito, without the tortilla. Perfect size for lunch or dinner. The Overland Park location is much better than the Olathe restaurant, in my opinion.

INCREDIBLE!! ENTHUSIASTIC 5! We lived in Southern California most of our lives, so we know our Mexican food. It's hard to find good Mexican food in most states, but did we ever hit the jackpot here! Best mahi and carnitas tacos ever! Great prices and service too.

I just orders chicken DEL mar. I'm so disappointed, the description of the plate included crab meat, scallops and tail in shrimp. My order had no crab meat at all, two little scallops and 1 tail in shimp on top ! Besides the horrible food my servers was great

Had to ask for silverware twice. There was already an old set left from previous people and she told me to use that. I said I wanted a new set. Who knows what it was used for!!! Can't believe a manager would say that. Place is filthy. Sat by windows and they are gross. Wonder how much bacteria is living in the carpet. Needs an overhaul. If it wasn't for the food and margarita's we wouldn't come back!

Somebody call the health department please! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with buckets of water all over the place from a leaking roof. Bartender was extremely rude on the phone and in person. He had screwed up an allergy order and tried to blame the kitchen, even though he confirmed it with me on the phone. They had to remake my girlfriends entire meal while mine sat cold for a half hour. No apologies either. He also botched the ladies beside us pick up order too and she was mad. Where did they find this guy? These people do NOT know what proper food handling techniques are. They all need safe serve classes. The food was horrible when we finally got back home. Someone dumped a box of salt in the espinaca dip which we couldn't eat. I had a teaspoon of re fried beans and mostly rice? Total garbage. Will NEVER go back again. So sad this place use to be top notch, well not anymore!

Love love this restaurant!! We eat here weekly and it's always amazing. The cheese crisp salad or tacos al carbon are my favorite items on the menu. My only complaint is that the espinaca dip is never hot, but they're always happy to warm it up for me :)

Jose Peppers is an excellent restaurant with a wide variety of Tex-Mex selections. My favorites include the goat cheese towers, the flauta platter, the loaded cheese dip, and shrimp tacos. The service is fantastic and the servers are friendly, kind, and always put the customers first. The new menu items are great as well like the bacon wrapped shrimp jalapeños.

Maybe it helped that we got here early for dinner (5:30) but we were seated right away and didn't have to wait for our food. I enjoy the shrimp tacos most but everything I've tried has been great. Bonus points for not skimping on the tequila in the margaritas. They're strong!

I had a wonderful experience with Jose Pepper's. I called in at roughly 9:45am for a last-minute large order -- a fajita bar for my office -- for just under 15 people. They said no problem, it can be ready by 11:15, come on by. Super helpful otp, even packaged everything separately to accomodate our vegetarian eaters. Get there, everything is ready & packaged, with the most organized & friendly woman telling me exactly where to find everything, what's included, and even helps me take everything out to my car. She was so sweet (my receipt says Jill -- that's probably her) and the food was fabulous. The fajita bar was a hit & we will most definitely be back.

Bad flavor profile. Spiced for just heat, not flavor. $10 for a tiny chicken breast. Roughly $20 an pound. Service was friendly, accommodating, and apologetic for my meal is the only real plus, but I will not be back. Mi Rachito is similar, but much better food.

Been here several times and this is the worst service I've ever had. We are on our 3rd server. They are being things to the table sporadically. The 3rd is at least attentive. Watch people stand at door for at least 5 minutes, employees walked by and didn't even greet or acknowledge their presence. The person I assume is the manager was on the expo line eating over plates. Just kinda of a joke tonight. We've been here about 40 minutes and still haven't received food. Super disappointed

We have been going to Jose Peppers at 103rd and Metcalf since they opened in 1988 and have never had a bad meal there it's always excellent. The waiters and waitresses have always been five star rated in my opinion. It seems that they all work as a team to take care of their patrons. I usually get a fajita burrito but this time the waitress suggested something new they have a chicken fajita wrap it was awesome. It's the best Mexican restaurant in Kansas City as far as I'm concerned.

Best dine in experience we have had as a family in a long time. From the time we walked into the door to the moment we left, the Hostess, Manager, our Server, Marques were amazing. No real Gluten free menu because there is very little for gluten free diet. The chips are cooked with the same grease the flour foods are. Salad is always ok unless you have the marinated chicken. Sigh. The waiter was great. He was the highlight.

Just an ok place. Nothing special about the service or food. If you're looking for a safe place to take grandma for her birthday dinner then this is it. Jose Peppers the Applebees of Mexican food. Nothing wrong with that at all but not my cup of tea. So when the family is sitting around deciding on a place Jose Peppers should be your default if you cannot come up with something collectively.

Usually food comes quickly and people are friendly but this time around it was three thirty on a Tuesday, dead, food was slow, and we saw our waitress maybe three times. I had to get up and grab some boxes myself, the manager walked by and we had to grab him to do something for us, and another waitress dropping food by had to find our waitress so we could finish our order. She also seemed baffled that the table next to us wanted change. Just an irritating experience.

Tex-Mex for the masses. Nothing terrible here, but nothing special either. I don't understand why this place is so busy and on a wait at lunch. I have a few friends who insist on meeting here, but I prefer other options when it comes to Mexican (or even Tex-Mex).

Honestly, the worst service I've had in a long time. Took 15 minutes for our server, Mary, to greet us. 10 more minutes to even get a drink out. Our order was taken, and about 10 minutes later we were asked if we had ordered already. Our food came out, and mine was fine, but my husbands order wasn't nearly what he requested. Other tables were waiting just as long if not longer for service and requested multiple times for a server to serve them. When I asked to see a manager, one never came out after waiting 20 minutes. This was our first experience at Jose Peppers, and I'm super disappointed and embarrassed that I even suggested it. I do want to point out that I overheard Mary saying she was fairly new to the team, and was super sweet. This place really needs to step it up.

I can't comment on the food as it took 50 minutes to get my order, by the time I got it, I had to go back to work. Really busy day today on Monday, lunch special. Order called in at 1050am, said that ready in 15. Being late back to work, so I couldn't even eat it just threw it away. I got to waste my money at Jose Peppers today.

I love this place. 103rd is the best one in the chain. But with the change in the hot salsa (for the worse) it is not worthy of the jose peppers name. Thankfully you can get the good hot salsa, just ask for it. Now their margaritas went from being the best in town to a convenience store dispenser which makes the margaritas taste like cleaner. I can only hope this is a temporary situation because i actually drive out of my way to enjoy the margaritas here and if this is the new level of quality i guess i won't be making that drive anymore. Sad thought after coming here for over 10 years.

Hi there, I just went to the Jose Pepper's on 103rd Street in Overland Park KS for some lunch today and so I'm writing this review on Google play, right now and so I'll be going back to Jose Peppers in about 2 more weeks from now. I've been to Jose Peepers about 3 weeks ago and I really like going to eat at Jose Peppers. I didn't take any photos of this place when I've visited Jose Peppers, but they do a really great job of preparing/serving lunch or dinner. I haven't been able to go to Jose Peppers for brunch on Saturday/Sunday morning, but I think that if Jose Peppers has a brunch on the weekends, then I'd recommend you go to the Jose Peppers whenever you have a chance to go to the Jose Peppers whenever you'd like to go eat lunch/ dinner with your family or with some of your friends who enjoy going to eat Mexican food. :)

We got our food in probably 20 minutes. It was so quick, I was shocked. When it came out it was blazing hot and so tasty! I got the Pollo Magnifico and enjoyed it. I wish the veggie pieces in it were smaller because they seemed overbearing at points but, it was still enjoyable.

Chips and Salsa is the only thing good here..... Very CHEWY chicken, burrito stuffed with beans and less than 3oz of meat, restaurant is very dirty, cheese came out in a ramekin and was wet and the service is typically very subpar.... If you want waaaay better everything drive to the Midland Dr location!!!!

The food was great and the house margaritas were excellent. However, we waited 45 minutes for our food. I felt that our waiter was stretched too thin. We came on Memorial Day weekend when a lot of ball players were in town and they were very busy. I think they are very understaffed. All of the workers seemed very unhappy.

Extremely yummy food. Sometimes can have a bit of a wait and the actual service can be slow. I would recommend this place to a friend for sure but avoid if on a tight schedule without having a little wiggle room. The longest we have been here (service time being the biggest factor) is up to an hour. The typical time (in the door and out) for a standard party of four is probably around 45 mins which isn’t bad but we usually go in knowing what we want.

We enjoy stopping at Jose. We go there when we are traveling through Overland Park. The food is excellent and the Margaritas and beer is cold. Our server was excellent as well. I had a taco salad that looked like a giant Taco. Prices about average for a great night out on Taco Tuesday at Jose Pepper's.

Very Tex-Mex. But the food is really good. Great servers and a hostess too. I had Chicken and Avocado Enchiladas and my mate had a cheese crisp salad. Both were yummy and you get a lot of food on your plate. Thin thin corn chips and good salsa. They have cilantro lime rice here. I also love the mini chimichangas with jalapeno cream cheese. VERY good! You should definately check this place out!

We hadn't been in a long time but we were in the neighborhood so we decided to give it a whirl. The food was very good - fresh, hot, plated with pride and care - quality ingredients. Service - not so much. Our server was a nice guy but we had to repeatedly ask for our drinks, water refills, etc. so that's why I'm not giving more stars. We will try again - food was good enough for a 2nd chance.
