Food was ok but the service was absolutely horrible. Took 20 minutes to take our order and I finished my food before the waitress brought me more water. And when she did bring me some more water, she grabbed my glass out of my hand by the rim of all places. Didn't drink my second glass of water needless to say. Not saying it was a racial thing but the asians in there got 10x better service. Won't be returning to Jen Jen's ever.

We went to dine at this restaurant after 7:30pm. The meals we had were prepared and cooked to order. The service was fantastic. Will definitely be back soon. I highly recommend this establishment.

Service was slow because there was only 1 lady working the entire restaurant when I was there :( BUT the food was DELISH. Get the mayonnaise shrimp, beef & cilantro soup, and beef tendon hot pot!

Food was amazing. The operation looks old, but the dishes more than made up for it. Just wish the service was faster. They seemed a little short handed in the kitchen. Our meal took 45 minutes from ordering to table.

This is the worst Chinese food restaurant I have been ever. I called them at 00:14 to see if they were still serving the food, but the one who picked up the phone just told me they were already closed in a really rude attitude. I never met a waitress being so mean like her, I just want to ask if I can order a pick up, I don’t know why she was being so rude to me. Anyway, a waitress’s attitude can represent the quality of the restaurant, it is really a so-so restaurant.

The food is amazing. The most authentic you will be able to find around here, the service however, well, cultural differences? ? Maybe, I don't know, but I am not used to my food being tossed onto the table, and asked if I am going to need another box "or what" by a server.

Excellent, authentic, family owned. Three things that describe this little unassuming restaurant located in the shopping center by Walmart and Panda Express. Prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you get. Some of the best fried dumplings I've had anywhere. Hot pot eggplant was excellent along with the shrimp and seasonal vegetables. The sauce on the shrimp and veggies is amazingly good as well. Highly recommend stopping by for a delicious meal!

Quite remarkable in Kansas City standards. Authenticity is a fact, not only a claim. Portions are medium sized, prices are not the cheapest, and the chef is a little lazy in their prep work (live shrimp intestines were not removed) though. But the overall impression I have is quite good - it actually taste like Chinese food, which is an accomplishment quite rare in KC. (Among the ranks of BoLings and New Peking in terms of food quality)

Good foods but the lady server on weekdays is not so nice, kinda rude too. Had several bad experience with her. Their best server is Matthew, very cool guy and great, when it comes to customer service. I usually come when he is the server.

Jen Jen’s offer a more authentic Chinese food taste than most of their counterparts in the area. Although I’ve never been to China, the closest authentic Chinese food I’ve tasted were in Taipei and Los Angeles’ Chinatown. My favorite is the pork spareribs in spicy salt...not too salty but savory and crunchy. Their soup for 2 is served piping hot and could serve 3-4 people really. Their lomein is equally flavorful. When I go back, I’ll definitely try the lobster and the crab dish. I just happen to see it as the server passed by my table on the way to the lucky diner. The only reason it’s a 4 star is that their ambiance could use a bit of freshening up to look and feel more inviting.

The standouts are the traditional Chinese dishes, which are not easy to find in KC. Fresh seafood dishes are outstanding - squid, clams, oysters, crab, lobster - but really, everything's been great. Never tried any of the Chinese-American standards -- no need. Open late in OP. Forget about the decor. Come for the food!

Best Chinese place ever. When you open the menu skip over the Americanized food (even though it is incredible) and order off of the authentic section. You WILL NOT be disappointed. The flavors will blow you away and you’ll keep going back for more. Don’t be cautious of trying new things. This is a great place to do it.

Worst chinese food ever. Served COLD & SOGGY. Ordered basics such as General Tso's and Crab Rangoon so it should not have been complicated to get a well cooked meal and it was terrible. Avoid Jen Jen's.

Definitely authentic. If you ever stop by and feel adventurous for some delicious foods. I recommend the black bean clams or ginger onion steamed oysters. They dont always have them or they'll run out. So just ask to see if they have it in for the day.

Great chinese comfort food! Try their claypot items, those taste very homey, warm and comforting! They are known for their fresh seafood as well. One of my favorite part of dining there is that we are given some delicious chinese dessert, the last time we were given a peanut butter soup, just like what is sounds it is a thick sweet peanut that has been cooked until it is smooth. The dessert is served hot. Hope you enjoy this place as much as we do!

Seems very authentic and true to its name. Sometimes there are groups of people speaking Cantonese present and having a good time. I really like the taste of what I ordered, felt like home. If you like food from southern China then you'll likely appreciate this place, if not you can still try something new.

I have always been a Cantonese picky eater. I had been searching for an authentic Cantonese restaurant for years but never found a good one until i came across jenjen by accident. The foods are delicious and reasonably priced. thought that it was an excellent restaurant. The server was very friendly. I think I will make it a ritual to come here every Sunday after my kid done with chinese school.

Ordered Steamed Pork Dumplings, General Tso Chicken and Pork Ribs with Spicy Salt. It was all delicious and good portions for the price. And I don't know if some other reviewers/patrons caught someone on a bad night or what but the woman who waited on us was perfectly pleasant and even helped me choose a dish. We will most definitely be back!!

The food was absolutely awful. I ordered General Tso's Chicken on 3/29/2018 at approx 11 pm. I ordered online and set it for pickup. To my delight (for real) I got there around 1130 pm and they said it was almost done. I was SUPER happy it was fresh and wasn't some leftover stuff. Boy was I wrong. I was charged 20 dollar for soggy chicken sitting in smelly sauce that didn't even resemble a sysco foods version of General Tso's chicken. I don't think I would feed this to my worst enemy. I won't EVER come back here again. This place was absolutely awful.

We ordered take out and were extremely disappointed with everything except the crab ragoons... mine was the vegetable lo mein which it seems they either forgot to add soy sauce or just over loaded it with water because it was soggy and flavorless. I poured soy sauce on it but it didn’t improve it much. The noodles were gross to. Definitely not authentic tasting.

If this restaurant is not going to open late til 1am then don’t update the open hours on google, when I called for pick up at 00:02, the woman who answered the phone was very rude even yelled at me, that is ridiculous! I have been this restaurant couple times but I will NEVER go again, SUCKS

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jen Jen's. Late nights, good food, cheap prices and Edwin! My friends and I always come back here when we are home from college, and everyone we've introduced to it loves it. I use to get #107 which is always a crowd pleaser, but then I discovered #97 which has become my favorite. I don't eat meat anymore but they are happy to do substitutions. The Pork hot pot with mui choy is also fabulous, beef with gravy and noodles (108), and recently I tried the Eggplant hot pot which was phenomenal. It is getting hard for me to go back because there are about 3 dishes that I know I love. I haven't explored much of the menu besides that because they are just too good! Edwin is also the nicest guy, he always teases us but he knows our orders and is a great server. Also try the dessert soups that are included, red bean is my favorite but the peanut is a close close contender. Place is a little dumpy, but for the food I can definitely live with it. Especially since those places always have the best food.

One of the best tasting Chinese Restaurant in KC area. Plenty choices on the menu. Anything "salt and pepper" is delicious. Vegetarian friendly as there are so many veggie and tofu dishes. Reasonable portion for the price. Unlimited rice and complimentary dessert.

I like that they stay open late! The woman who works there is always very polite and the food is so good! I usually order more Americanized fare but they have a lot of authentic Chinese that I order when I'm feeling adventurous and it's never a disappointment. Definitely recommend.

I’ve moved around quite a bit in my life and this is the very best Chinese food that I’ve come across. I always have to make a trip here when I come to town. My favorites are the General Tso’s chicken, steak with black pepper sauce, Chinese broccoli with garlic, and the pan fried dumplings (the sauce is amazing.)

The workers are sweet and the food is ok; the main issue is the wait time. My family and I came in at 7:02 but did not get our food until 7:56 and even with that long wait, one plate of food out of the four we ordered came out. A group that came in a bit after us, had their food before we did. I don't know how they prioritize their cooking in the kitchen but it's a bit upsetting when you see someone get their food faster than you did when they came in after. As for the food, it was ok. I'm not a picky eater at all but the food here was hard to digest afterwards. It was making me feel full but not in a good way! Being someone that comes from an asian background, I ordered foods that were familiar to me and it was not up to my expectations. However, there were a few dishes that were enjoyable. The reason it's not a one star for me, because the workers were very friendly. Upon arriving, they did intimidate me a bit but they turned out to be very sweet people... Like I said, the main issue for my family and me is the wait time. The food is alright but I wouldn't return here again.
