REVIEWS OF Jack Stack Barbecue IN Kansas

Jan Ertl

Burnt ends are a must...bloodyary filling, onion rings are large..long term KC establishment. If in the country club plaza...a must.

Neko T.

Jack's is a must for those visiting the KC area. This is some of the best BBQ outside of Tennessee and Texas. Jack's Best is a great place to start on the menu. Crown Prime Beef Rib, baby back ribs, and Beef Burnt ends with a side of Hickory Beans and Cheesey Corn Bake. Absolutely delicious. The service was fast, accurate, and friendly. Great atmosphere for groups and business dinner. I would Highly recommend this establishment. This place rivals some of the best I've ever had. I will definitely be coming back.

Mark Gibbons

Excellent BBQ loaded baked potato and Gumbo

Leah Marshall

First time dining, great service! Excellent food!

Avery Allen

Great menu options and fantastic BBQ, steaks and salmon. Very nicely decorated inside and out and great customer service. Good location close to both downtown KC and the crown center area.

Noah Mamo

Fantastic food, great and fast service. Everything was great, but the beef ribs were amazing. Coleslaw was very good. Heard rave reviews for the corn bake, was good but didn't live up to the hype.

Kelli Wheeles

Lunch with 2 friends We had a great time. Our fabulous server offered us a half mushroom and half onion ring appetizer. It was delicious! Excellent service. I had the jack turkey sandwich. It was wonderful and so big I had to have it boxed. My friends had the wings and lamb ribs. Both said they were fantastic. This location is head and shoulders above the other locations around KC

Ty Clement

Great place for large groups and business events. They took great care of our group, had excellent service, really good BBQ, and a multiple private rooms. Some of the sauces were unimpressive but the burnt ends and the sides (cream corn, baked beans, and grilled salmon) was incredible.

Marilyn Martin

Exceptional BBQ! My daughter (9) asked if we could tip the waiter $500 because her food was That Good! We will be stopping by again!

Terry Anderson

We stopped in for a quick afternoon snack and were delighted to find burnt ends on the appetizer menu! They were delicious! The baked beans are also a great treat! The service was great and the servers were friendly. Loved the sauce! Burnt Ends! Ofrder them! Savor them! Brag on them! REPEAT! If you’re unfamiliar with with KC barbecue, this is the place to begin your education. It is one of the oldest and one of the best. I’m sure that the other food is good as well but I always fill up on the barbecue. The sides are interesting and well suited to the meat, especially the beans and the cheesy corn casserole. Try it once and you’ll go back.

Edward Straley

Ordered a Burnt Ends dinner it was just OK, not great but not bad. The fries were barely cooked. It's been a while since I ordered from Jack Stack, looks like it will be a while before I am back.

Ashley Chantal

It was my first time trying out their food, so I had to go for the burgers. Now here's the thing with me, in able for me like a place I have to try the burgers out first. Weird yes, I know I but omg it was fantastic. Add the spicy sauce for my fries it 10x delicious. Definitely exceeded my expectations because I just eat my dads bbq. But this place is a must!

Matthew Dirks

Awesome experience. Wonderful service. Food was fantastic. No left overs. Best BBQ in KC--and also a nice place to go have dinner. Worth checking out this location just for atmosphere in the old freight car house. Very KC!

Eric Sturm

Great BBQ. I had sliced brisket and sausage and both were great. Given the reputation of the restaurant, I was expecting better french fries. (Though, it is a BBQ restaurant.) I was surprised how dark it is inside, so being your sunglasses if you're exiting to a sunny day.

juanita redmon

I'm a 1st timer I had the wings and the shrimp and toast and the shrimp was in this so good sauce

Jeffrey Powers

Amazing BBQ in the downtown KC area. Super popular, very highly reviewed and awarded restaurant. Well worth the trip and the experience. Almost always a wait here, but well worth it. Everything is to die for, ribs are falling off the bone beautiful. Treat yourself and the crown prime beef ribs. They are something yo be experienced.

Christine Conley

Burnt ends were good... waiter was excellent.

Seth Lamb

Absolutely incredible BBQ. Great service. The lemonade is incredible.

brian bernard

Yep.....this place seriously blew me away . By far the best bbq I've ever eaten in Kansas city

Jeff Turnbow

HOT! 90 minute wait. Small restaurant. Ain’t no BBQ worth that. Staff appears sweaty and tired. Expand! Use AC in the summer! Cool the entry where people sit in the hot box n wait for your food. This is chaotic

L Lewis

This is the second Jack Stack's I've been to the first one I went to is on a date our first date and this second when we come into after not going for a while service still the same experience waiters and waitresses courteous employees excellent food will return again

Rock Reynolds

I was looking forward to eating here when I arrived in KC. Be prepared for a loud restaurant and be prepared to receive their "large" sandwich on a hot dog bun. You have got to be kidding. I left still hungry and unfulfilled. Very expensive hot dog.....uh sorry BBQ sandwich. You need to have a "large" round sandwich bun served with the "large" BBQ sandwich. Get rid of the hot dog buns. Hot dog buns do not belong in a BBQ place.

Noah Sanchez2000

It was pretty good but I have celiac and I got sick by it... it was very good but the sickness was the deal breaker. But like I said other wise I liked it. They were very nice and the manager came up and talked and said everything I was gonna have was ok.

Corky Ballas

This is like gourmet, barbecue restaurant, fish pork beef were all excellent a definite experience I will do again, highly recommend!

Misterswissarmy

Always amazing - consistency goes a long way when it comes to great BBQ!

Lynette Huisinga

My family and I waited on the benches in front of the hostesses for our 45 minute wait. After that time was up we asked the hostess to check on our status and she said it will be a two hour wait and claimed we were told that when we first came. We would have never accepted that wait time since we were with my pregnant daughter who needed to eat. No apologies to us, in fact the hostess was rude. We will never go back here. I have not been treated this rude at a restaurant .

nsstpierre

Staff was friendly efficient and professional during a tornado watch today! We were safe and offered fresh food once we returned to our table (after hiding out in the kitchen-which was very clean and organized if anyone was wondering!). Most importantly-loved all our food! 10/10 would recommend!

Dianne Eustace

All the food was delicious and portions were large. We especially enjoyed the cornbread.

Molly Gross

Really nice atmosphere, tasty food (I had the kansas city combo, with brisket and chicken, cheesy corn and hickory beans). The brisket and beans were my favorite. The bartender was very helpful and attentive and always had a new glass of water for me.

Daniel Zuk

Get yourself a double order of beef burnt ends and double side of the baked beans. You deserve it.

Janette Marsh

Served a 20 with precision we had a couple of family style orders a meat eaters delight!

Aprile Denny

We were recommended to go here and things were good. Portions were a little smaller than I expected. My ribs were a bit more burnt than I'd like but the overall quality was very good. The restaurant is next to Union Station's walking bridge over the train tracks, which is really cool! Restaurant parking is also free.

Ryan Flanigan

KANSAS CITY BBQ at it's finest. Actually voted top 10 in USA consistently.

Nathan Furman

As a career southerner, I must do my best to adequately portray the meats here, so I ordered the Burnt Beef Ends and the sampler type dish. Atmosphere is great, love the feel. Let's break down the meats. Ribs- Acceptable flavor, but the toughness left me hanging, as the meat just hung onto the bones. Average Ham- It's ham. You could buy better at the super market. Brisket- Not much special here, all around average brisket Pulled pork- Soft and tender, extremely flavorful, darn near perfect. Beef Burnt Ends- Chunky and super tender, with a good crisp char on the outside. Sauces- Decent. Heavy on the tomato. Could use some development. Beans- ORDER THE BEANS Fries- definitely worth eating Slaw- pretty good. Minced, not sliced. Overall a decent experience. The sides saved the meal, but I likely will not be back.

Kanna Karri

This place is a heaven for BBQ lovers. Ordered burnet ends and pork ribs. They are so juicy and tender. Also ordered lamb ribs which I never expected.

Aditya Mishra

Nice place to eat meat but limited options for vegi people. Food is good in taste, so if you are in Kansas City you should visit this place atleast once.

Matt Max

The best BBQ restaurant in KC, taking into account both the food options and atmosphere. Kudos!

Chris Karlin

Very good food and service.

Dorisa Babot

Service was great . Every food that i order tasted delicious and mind blowing. Am based in Kentucky and can't wait to order online .love the mushrooms

Michael Calabrese

Great food, okay service.

Charlotte Finch

We always enjoy our meals at Jack Stack. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Amos Hale

Amazing food and stellar service. The KC lemonade was out of this world

Juan Valdez

You owe to yourself to eat BBQ from here. Your taste buds will thank you!

Gloria Garcia

Great family style bbq! Will definitely bring friends here. You order a coke and you have a nice full refill without even asking. Southern hospitality at its finest.

Jeremy Mannella

Great BBQ. The brisket and burnt ends were awesome. Best BBQ beans that I had as well.

Leslie McDonald

The best BBQ I've ever had! The Crown Rib was perfection! Great building decor and the staff was very friendly.

Patrick Roberts

Great BBQ goes without saying. One of the most beautiful restaurants in the city. Can't be beat for ambience. Was perfect for Fourth of July.

Nicholas Hayes

Absolutely delicious! The Kansas City barbeque they served was fantastic. Some of the best coleslaw I have ever had, and I have high expectations for coleslaw. The burnt ends and pork spare ribs were cooked perfectly. The sauce was flavorful and just the right amount in proportion to the meat. I will definitely look to come back to this place if I ever come back into town. Make a reservation, it gets busy.

Kyle Wilson

We came after hearing this is the best barbeque in Kansas City and left without a doubt that it must be true. The food was absolutely incredible and the servings were more than generous. Prices were a bit higher, but it was worth every penny. I have never had such a unique barbeque experience, from cheese bake and coleslaw to the highest quality meats. Our server, John, was also a highlight of the meal, as he accommodated our needs and gave us great tips on what to see throughout the city. We honestly couldn't be happier with our experience and highly recommend the Freight House to anyone visiting Kansas City.

Vivian Taylor

Long lines mean awesome food. Normally it's no longer than a 30 minute late. Reserve your table with trip advisor or open table. You wont have to wait. We got free appetizers as our wait was an hour. Food came quickly. What to choose? We have had the ribs, chicken and beef brisket. We stopped in for a quick afternoon snack and were delighted to find burnt ends on the appetizer menu! They were delicious! The baked beans are also a great treat! The service was great and the servers were friendly. Loved the sauce!

marianne sebastiano calabria

Dont expect to have a conversation if you sit outside. The trains go by all the time. Food was just ok. Not worth the cost. We had a big group buffet and food ran out constantly and was slow to replenish. Some things never replenished. For over 30.00, a dessert or a drink other than water would have been nice. Water was not replenished often although it was hot and humid out.

Brock Troester

This place is a true gem of the plaza. Eat here. Be polite to your server. Good things will come to you. It's that simple. I have eaten here regularly for the past 5 years and I don't regret a single experience. I won't pretend every instance was perfect but if you politely voice your concerns to the staff taking care of you, they will do everything they can to fix it. The people who work here are good people, they are Kansas City people. They are professionals who create a fantastic environment and are a treat to be around. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Murray Jones

Terrific BBQ, the sides are to die for. Got the pork ribs, beef and sausage “burnt ends”, cheese corn too. All wonderful. Don’t forget the Key lime pie. Great, lively atmosphere. Hanna was above and beyond as our server. Slight wait for a table, they do take reservations. We’ll be back next time we travel this way.

J May

I'm from Texas. I can't compare Texas BBQ and Kansas BBQ because they don't compare. They are different. That being said, Jack Stack is great! The brisket, sausage, and burnt ends are very flavorful. The baked beans are the best! The funny thing, the server brought us two types of sauce, spicy and mild. There was no spicy, however, both were good.

Jia Li

Amazing restaurant with great food and drinks. BBQ: Definitely earns top spot in BBQ and I've been to some renowned places. Their crowned prime beef rib is huge, their beef and pork ribs are great, and my favorite is their lamb ribs. I've tried a variety of their other offerings and have not been disappointed, call out to their baked beans from someone that doesn't like baked beans that much. Drinks: Their cocktails were good, but I never leave without getting one of their lemonades to go, amazing. Also be sure to try their carrot cake!

Ricardo Osorio

The carrot cake, omg.... So good! The burnt ends, and the side dishes are very yummy!

Rebecca loves life

Absolutely the best kc BBQ hands down. The beans are spot on too! Although not a traditional bbq side, the cheesy corn was a hit too.

Bobbie Stringer

Love the atmosphere nut was so disappointed in the sandwich. I ordered the Hatfield with all turkey and was so disappointed. I was just assuming being the high end restaurant that they are that I would get a nice amount of wonderful shaved turkey. It was very dense processed turkey slices that I couldn't even finish due to the intense texture. Note to self, never order the turkey again!

Josh Layden

Our first time, wonderful barbecue. My wife and I had the barbecue chicken, cooked just right falls off the bone. I had the sliced turkey with cheesey potatoes, she had the loaded baked potato and beef brisket. Highly recommend eating here

Eric Schafer

not worth the money, not worth the wait, and service is definitely not worth it. First time eating here and was impressed and not worth the hour & 15 minutes we waited. Waited 20 minutes for our check. Got 1 refill , still eating, and didn’t get offered another drink. Pulled pork sandwich was dry, and the Kansas City $20.99 meal was not worth the money. Burnt ends were dry. Had 2 servers on a 2 top and barely got any service, and had to ask another server for our check. Try Q39 if you really want excellent food and service!

Kris Cook

This is always the best outing of our tournament trip to Kansas City every year. The Crown Prime Rib of Beef is unmatched anywhere I've been.

Daisy Murphy

We have been coming to the various Jack Stack restaurants in Kansas City for 10 years. They are all delicious. This particular one at the Crossroads is a well run establishment. We always enjoy eating there. While we enjoy our visit last week, we were a little disappointed by the combination platters that our waiter told us would easily feed two people. We ordered the triple combo for $26. The three meats were good, but they were not enough to even feed one hungry person. Nevertheless, this is a great place to visit, especially for out of town guests.

Kari Gibbs

I like the area, had a coffee infused old fashioned, pretty good. Burnt end were great. Get fried mushrooms with horse radish sauce.

Dustin E. Lee

Awesome a little steep on price.

Deborah Kocsis

More upscale than authentic barbecue joints. Expect to pay more. Food good, corn bread not so much

Tina Brasil

It was our first time trying Kansas City BBQ and we loved it. There are a few different sauces available if you like variety (I loved the spicy BBQ sauce). Our server, Jason was outstanding. The place was packed and my husband and I both marveled as to how well he took care of us. Make a reservation - we got in about 15 mins after our reservation time on a Friday night, and couples who arrived without a res were being quoted 2 hour wait time.

Patrick Welch

Always a favorite of mine in KC. Professional staff and good food. Beans and cheesy corn are the sides of choice.

Al Risden

This is only the second time I've eaten at this Jack Stack BBQ location and have not been disappointed at either visit. It's a popular establishment so you may run into a wait weekends nights especially. That's normal the sign of a good restaurant though. It's large inside and feels like it when entering. High ceilings and booth backs add to the experience. The food is not extremely cheap but you're getting your money's worth. The service has been outstanding and before and after you can catch a view of Union Station and some surrounding architecture.

Tammy Liu

This was our first meal in Kansas City, had very high expectations of this place. Love the decor, high ceilings and comfortable feel. Service was very good. Made reservation, got there 30 min earlier and had to wait almost until our reservation to be seated, no problem, it was quite busy. The BBQ shrimps were quite good, fresh and good flavors. The special combo meats was not as impressive as I had hoped for. The baby back was pretty good, a bit on the dry side. The prime beef rib was quite delicious, except too much of it was burned tough. The burned ends were just not our cup of tea, way too tough and dry. The cheesy corn was delicious, beans too sweet.

Mark Andersen

I attended a private party (corporate event) here, so I can't comment on the price or portion size because someone else was paying, and it was buffet style. However I can say that the food and service were outstanding, and the event space was very nice. The burnt ends (appetizer) were flavorful and juicy, and had a perfectly burnt outer bark. The ribs were excellent -- meat fell right off the bone. The chicken was delicious. And the brisket... oh the brisket -- so good it stood on its own without sauce, but I love BBQ sauce, so I used a little anyway. The sides were also wonderful (potato salad and baked beans for me). And somehow I found room for the hot fudge brownie dessert. There were 40-45 in our group, and the service was top notch. Dirty plates disappeared, water stayed full, and I never felt like we were more than a minute or two away from having any need met. It was my first time coming here, but it won't be my last.

Logistic Tuna

Ok. Had much better.

Stephen B

Wasn't too impressed with this Jack Stacks . Waitress wasn't very friendly and didn't come around to top off beverages. The price was kind of steep. The noise level was very high. Need more TV in the dining area to watch the chiefs game. Kind of disappointing. I would actually give them 3.5 stars giving the the other benefit of doubt of bad day.

K

Very nice lunch with the best BBQ plates in KC. Top of the line service where my iced tea was always full and no interruptions.

JOHN JONES

Great food.. always clean

Tim Cottingham

Very busy on a Friday night, told that the wait would be 1.5-1.75 hrs. Waited almost 2 hrs then checked with the hostess. She said she had tried to text me 10 min before about a table but, they never left their station to look on the benches out front. In understand that the number may have been wrong but, I don't remember a simple "sorry". I didn't expect a free meal but, maybe some sincere expression of regret would have been nice. I'll be back the hickory smoked prime rib was the best thing that I have ever had at a barbque joint.

Rory Colbert

Passing through Kansas City and checked Trip Advisor for a barbecue restaurant. Chose this location. Understand it to be the original. The ambience may work for some, but I may have liked other newer Jack Stack locations better. Had a hard time finding the front door. Signage could help. The meat was very good. The sauce wasn’t quite to my liking. The baked beans were excellent. Not sure why others like the corn in cheese. And why is there a dry piece of white toasted bread on the plate? Is something supposed to go on it? My favorite bbq place back home serves a wonderful slice of garlic bread. The fresh lemonade was very good.

Nicholas Finzer

Somehow they manage to mix fine dining and good bbq and make it work wonderfully.

Darci Boy

We usually love going to Jack Stacks. This time we went on a Tuesday evening & it was unusually busy. We had reservations & were seated prior to the time (unexpectedly nice). The food didn't seem spectacular like we remembered from prior visits (especially not for the price). The server seemed impatient and hurried. Several times the server would come by asking if they could clear our plates as we were eating (clearly we weren't finished yet). Even though it wasn't a pleasant experience, it's not going to stop us from going again.

Mike McKinney

Solid bbq offerings in an upscale environment. Lively atmosphere, but you will feel a pinch in your pocketbook. Spare ribs were excellent.

Bridget Schmier

The service was great and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere of the restaurant was upscale and trendy. The portions were great and the food was delicious.

Michael Price

Everything was on point. Food came out quick. Never had to ask for a refill. Price and portions were great. Great dinner. My only complaint is that it's a bit dark. More so than you'd expect.

Michael J.

I've been multiple times, and I've tried all the top BBQ places in KC. Jack Stack has consistantly quaility of food and service. Top all -around BBQ place, and simply the BEST burnt-ends in town.

Jarrett Nichols

Definitely call ahead and make a reservation. But even if you don't have one, it's worth the wait. Absolutely amazing!!

Paul Sorensen

Great BBQ. Had the KC Combo. Burnt ends, spare ribs, beans and cheesy corn. Burnt Ends are fantastic. Would just got those next time. Doesn’t have a lot of BBQ, which you can get more of one the side. BBQ sauce good but not outstanding. Highly recommend this place.

J Williams

It is true - people around these parts get a tad ridiculous when it comes to BBQ. We all have our favorites here in KC, so when someone asks me "Which is better?" I say "Try them all and see which one YOU like." The Pulled Pork here at Jacks is good. It was a tad spicy for my taste. I was told by the cheeky server it is automatically served that way. ?? None the less, the fries are awesome. Seasoned and HOT. As in, fresh outta the fryer. That scored big points. I felt they stuck me in the bar because I was dining alone, and a server didn't want to lose a table to a single diner. I much would have preferred a table as the bar was loud, and staff busy getting ready for the dinner rush. I'll give it another shot...but at those prices, I will be a little more, discerning shall we say?

Walt Cofer

I had the salmon and blackberry sauce and that was so delicious. Salmon was cooked to perfection. The coleslaw and baked cheesy corn was also delicious. Started with the spinach salad, that was excellent, love that sweet vinegarete dressing. Was an amazing dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Rob Walker

Terrible service, especially for a table of 6. Food was average, not impressive.

James Churchill

Absolutely the worst hospitality and poorest management of any restaurant I've ever been to. We should have known they wouldn't seat us after waiting over an hour and watching other disgruntled customers walk out the doors. The hostesses accidentally seated the wrong family and then had the audacity to go unseat them! The customers complained enough that they eventually got seated, but I think they must have gotten seated on OUR name: after waiting over an hour (after being told we'd have a 50 minute wait), I asked to check about how much time we had remaining, and the hostess said we had two and a half hours left! She was a total jerk and didn't act apologetic or helpful but insisted that I had remembered my wait time incorrectly. I think she must have been trying to cover up for her previous mistake, which explains why she avoided eye contact with us while we sat on the waiting benches in front of her for an hour. I think she genuinely wanted us to leave. And she succeeded. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS UNFRIENDLY AND INCOMPETENT ESTABLISHMENT!

chasles22

Tasty burnt ends. Fast service. Great bar.

Amy McQueen

might have to wait for a table but it's well worth your time. Hands down Best BBQ in Kansas City.

B Money

Upscale BBQ at its best!

Emma Stoakes

Hands down best barbecue I've ever had. The lamb ribs are phenomenal.

Laurie Henderson

Jack Stack is one of my favorite BBQ joints. Burnt Ends are so moist & delicious. Goes well with their Baked Beans & Slaw. Definitely a 2 thumbs up or in this case, 5 stars!

Ashley Romnosky

The restaurant was very open and inviting. The food was very satisfying and flavorful. Starting from the jalapeno cornbread which had more seasoning "spice" to it then the heat "spice." The burnt tips we're even better here than at q39. Although the lamb ribs were a little over-salted, they were as tender as anything I've ever had.

Molly O’Leary

Great BBQ! I had the burnt ends and fries! Will definitely go back in the future

Lelon Jenkins

Still on my list as one of the places you MUST visit in Kansas City. I often order extra just to have leftovers. Jack Stack is consistently GREAT!

Eric Glock

Great place; got to do the KC ribs thing there... finally. Couldn't have thought of a better choice. Went with my mom who was visiting from out of town. We were both both well impressed! (We shared the KC platter with lamb chops--very filling!)

Gudmundur Oskar Bjarnason

Good food, fair price and good service.

Jonathan Bainbridge

Great service. We were treated well by the wait staff. The meal however was not good at all. Had a three meat sample and my wife had chicken. None of the meat so had were even remotely good, very tough like eating day old leather, hard pieces of "burnt ends", inedible baby back ribs.

Brain Cannon

Went for lunch - service was fast and wait staff very knowledgeable. Food was great and the building is in an old train station. Very close to the Kansas City convention center. We got there right at opening time so there was no wait but it started to fill up fast. soooooo good! The food is always, hot and fresh. The staff is welcoming and knows the menu. Large place

Jennifer Jones

Best BBQ in town, a little pricey, but big servings, clean, family atmosphere!

markislock king

These are some ribs haven't tasted any other restaurants that had ribs like thess

Melissa W

Portions were very small, the burnt ends were overly fatty. The place was clean and friendly servers.

Chuck Kell

J.S. bbq was recommended by staff member WWI memorial. Food, ambiance, Scott our server ALL were excellent. K.C lemonade & prime rib made the afternoon & visit.

Steve Gold

Got a Jack's Best combo. The beef rib was very good, but the burnt ends were a little too burn and the pork ribs were very dry. Potato bake side was quite good, but I came for the meat.

Andrew Viana

This was my first time in KC and I knew I needed to eat awesome BBQ. I got referred to a couple other places but I decided to go here and was not disappointed. I had quite a bit of competition for a party of 1 but that’s when I knew it would be good. Got the burnt ends, brisket, and chicken. They have different kinds of burnt ends which was so great

John Taylor

First, the food is expensive, about 25 a plate. Now the good stuff, the family and I love this place! Been there a few times, I never had to wait for a table. The staff are kind and act very proper. As an expert home cook, I can say the food is cooked very well. The bbq sauce has 3 heat levels from sweet to hot but don't be frightened the heat dissipates quick. There is plenty of parking next to the restaurant. PS save me a table.

Dorice Lachelle Woodruff

Talk about teamwork....WOW! The service at this Jack Stack location was commendable. Our waitress was fantastic and funny. The bartender, a manager and another cook helped to deliver food and drinks. It was all hands on deck due to it being packed on 4th of July. The food wash delicious also.

Chase Nelson

Jack Stack has some pretty decent barbecue. I stopped in for lunch and had three of their meats, all were good but nothing that was on another level. I possibly would go back in the future, but it's always so busy.

Oline Riley

The Carrot Cake is DELICIOUS!

A Milk Man

Our server Melissa was great, her casual conversation made me feel like I was an old friend. She knew the menu to help with my gluten issue. She fit right in with the feel of the restaurant. Made the lunch experience memorable. I'd be back if I didnt live 6hrs from here.

Eliannah Huisinga

Terrible customer service!!! We came in and a hostess told us it will be a 45 to 50 minute wait. We waited for about an hour, went up to the same hostess, and she said that she never checked us in and told us that time (which she totally did) and that we would have to wait another 2 and a half hours to be seated! She did nothing to try and help us. Never going back!

adolfo martinez

What an amazing meal, three choice combo Burnt Ends, Pork Ribs, and sliced meet. All the meat is tender and favorable which made it amazing. The been are slaw add to the meal. Try one of the local beers.

Bob Shool

Best Burn-ends in town

Kevin Tipton

Fries no seasoning. Bland basic at best. Freshly made Disappointed. Burnt Ends meat was dry (without sauce would have been basic flavor). Still not impressed. Other KC Establishments have way better burnt ends Jacks Pork burnt ends even though I was disappointed, pork was better overall than beef(was tough and lacking flavor) Fire Wings we’re weak in heat profile. Good Smoke flavor. Meat was semi moist at best. Good seasoning. Overall decent wings. Friendly Staff. For a group of 10 service was slow. I had 1 glass off water the whole meal even though it was empty after 5 minutes. Free Street Parking. Rustic Atmosphere. In my opinion very Expensive for what you receive( small portions, basic flavor). Definitely not in top 3 bbq joints.

Ali Day

This place is amazing!!! Prices are comparable to most sit down barbecue places. Our waitress was fantastic her name was Madelyn! We had a big misunderstanding with menu and the manager Liz was great in making sure she took care of us! I would definitely recommend this place. the atmosphere is great and I think lunch is the perfect time to sit and enjoy this great food!

Ciara Dees

The beef burnt ends was hands down the best BBQ this Texan has ever tasted! So impressed and now a fan for life.

Carissa Baker

It is ok. My husband and I were disappointed with the BBQ. We had high hopes, based off what our friends have said, and we were let down. It lacked a unique flavor. It tasted like BBQ you can get anywhere.

Allera B

Probably the best tasting bbq in the city. It’s always been my favorite and you can’t go wrong on what you order. The meat and the side dishes are very flavorful. This Crossroads restaurant is very spacious with high ceilings adorned with vast chandeliers. It has a bar, a private room and an outdoor sitting area. There’s a separate area for picking up orders so you don’t need to get in the restaurant. Prices are reasonable for the quality and the food amount. Restrooms are clean and well maintained. A lot of parking spaces in the area.

Steve Nichols

Being from Florida Jack Stack was a real treat and example of how good KC BBQ can be. Their Beans and corn bread are off the chart good.

Christian Butera

I changed the review. After speaking with Liz and trying again. It's a place we will be back to visit. A really helpful staff with really good food.

justinmckinzie

Great bbq and the waitress was hot!

James Morgan

Stopped here for lunch and enjoyed the two-meat plate with pulled pork and lamb ribs. Food and service were excellent.

Johannes Marsland

I asked the president of my Seminary where to go for the best Kansas City BBQ . I am not from this state but I do have a love of barbecue . I also asked him what to order and he suggested the burnt ends and crown prime beef rib. We went on a Sunday night and the line was a little long to get in . But once we were seated the wait staff was extremely friendly and proficient . Our drink glasses never got more than half empty and we were politely asked how our meal was going at appropriate times. We started off with an appetizer of burnt ends and the shrimp. Barbecued shrimp has never tasted so good! We ordered a sampling of different barbecue Delicacies for our meals. My favorite was the crown prime beef rib and the lamb ribs. Their baked beans were also incredible . Jack Stack Barbecue what's one of the best BBQ experiences of my life .

Donald Smith

Awesome food in a great atmosphere. Service is exceptional and very attentive. It can be a little pricey but it is worth it. I will say that this location was a significantly better experience than the one at the Plaza and the quality of the food was much better. Definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a more upscale barbecue experience.

Josh Wilson

The bbq was delicious but service was subpar. Our food was brought out with no plates, wound up having to call out for a server after waiting a bit for them. I also asked if they had any house sauces they'd recommend with our meal after we were halfway done and the server apologized because we were supposed to be given the sauce when our food came out. Just kind of felt like we were an afterthought. Like I said though, food was fantastic!

J C

1st time here and It was excellent, great flavor and great service! Tried the pork burnt ends and pulled pork with the slaw and cheese corn bake.

Steve Fisher

I took a picture of the menu when I went because the prices differeed substantially from what was posted on google. The BBQ was great, the service and setting were fabulous. It was a little more than I was expecting, but not out of line with the product. I’m hoping to get back soon.

jason duckless

My Rating: 4.3... It maybe one of the original BBQ joints in Kansas still going strong. Great service!

Ben VanBeurden

My first KC BBQ. Reservations were a must. Brisket and burnt ends combo was great but what really separates this place is their sides. the beans were the best ive had. the corn is great. and the onion rings are perfect.

Jonah Hanft

Being from Texas, I've eating a ton of barbecue so I went straight for the ribs and burnt ends since that's what I was told Kansas City was famous for. The first thing I did was get the burnt end appetizer, which had 4 beef burnt ends and for pork burnt ends. The pork was fantastic but the beef was out of this world. If I was going for just a quick appetizer and a beer after work, that would be my go-to order. After that I got the Kansas City Trio which was two beef ribs, three pork ribs, and eight lamb ribs. The pork ribs were good, not the best I've ever had, but good nonetheless. The beef ribs were exceptional and really continued The Burnt End experience as far as taste went. However, the lamb ribs were religious experience and made my whole BBQ experience go from an 8 to an 11. Also, they had some of the best coleslaw I've ever eaten and the baked beans with the brisket inside we're fantastic. A lot of people in Kansas City told me there were better places but judging barbecue the barbecue between Kansas City and Texas I would say Kansas City has the best ribs and I will definitely come here again the next time I'm in Kansas City.

Anthoney Martinez

Jack stack is a white table cloth finer BBQ experience that is everything you want in a savory and filling place to celebrate by indulging. High end service and ambience make this place worth the wait at any location. Being from TX I've had it all and this place is right up at the top with the best. Never visit the Kansas City area without stopping by Jack stack. The onion rings are surprisingly amazing, as are the beans, Mac and cheese, fried mushrooms, and the crown prime rib. Have ordered sandwiches, chicken, bloody Mary's, and more here without ever being disappointed. Nice bathrooms in case all the delicious BBQ gives you a sudden case of the BGs (a friend told me).

Regina Alexis

Great finger licking barbecue... Excellent service. Was recommended by a bus driver while I was waiting for my next flight at Kansas city international airport. No regrets at all. I will Definitely recommend Jack Stack barbecue to anyone visiting Kansas city.

michelobjohn1

I've had better experience here at Jack Stack before, the food is ordinarily fresh and good quality, but this time however not so much. It appeared the the ribs and brisket I had was steam warmed up leftovers. Still tasty but disappointing ob the soggy texture of the meat

Roger Coleman

Food was above average, not off the chart by any means. Great atmosphere and decor, wonderful staff. I'd say it's closer to 3 $$$ than 2.

Antonio Rodriguez

Good food — what one would expect. Kyle did a good job!

Adrianna Marshall

This restaurant does not accommodate babies! They asked me to wake up my baby so they could store my stroller! I will never go back! There’s better BBQ in KC with better service!

Lisa Noel

This is a great place with fantastic service. The wait staff was amazing, very intuitive, very helpful. The meal was expensive but we'll worth it if u have extra cash. It was a long wait to be seated and the place was crowded but the atmosphere made it seem as if it were a cozy place. I look forward to eat here again.

milton cook

I would give 6 stars for food and service. Atmosphere was also very easy going

Cristian T

It’s a shame I lived in KC for 35 yrs and the wife and I had lunch there for the first time. We were blown away!! Wait time wasn’t to long, waitress was very friendly and was on top of her game. Food was amazing. The only thing I would tweek is the jumbo mushrooms by adding just alittle more seasoning in the breading, but people’s tastes are different and I ended up using your fry seasoning. Other then that sauces were good and meat was on point. I can’t wait until my next visit. Thank you for the delicious lunch. Customer for life! Cris and Susan

Michelle

Food was Delicious.. Very good Service and Most of All, Friendly Atmosphere

Cooper Vittetoe

Some of the best bbq I've ever had! Great service, even when packed on a Saturday night! Waiter was kind, attentive, and speedy. The food was amazing! Massive ribs that I wouldn't get again, due to their size, but they were Smokey and delicious, as were the fries and sauce! A must go to if you're in the area!

Sherry Carpenter

The freight house itself is a fantastic location, the architecture is very open and ambient. The staff are kind and attentive without being too over-present or annoying. Their lemonade is fantastic by the way. Their hickory smoked beans are AMAZING! Seriously, they are so good it blew my mind. The burnt ends are also great. Their sliced brisket leaves a little but to be desired both i terms of taste and texture, but this is really the only detractor I can find. I've eaten here 4 times during my recent business trips and I definitely look forward to eating here again.

Jon Saurman

Relaxed, casual, industrial atmosphere and fast-paced, knowledgeable staff. My party had three different meat entrees, and we unanimously agree that the barbecue was very good, but not quite legendary considering the price tag. Decent selection of corks and caps. The key lime pie was great. Would return!

tina fey

the bbq baked beans is amazing. the service is great and its a fun atmosphere

Kevin

The Big Pig sandwich is on my list as one of the top 3 BBQ sandwiches in KC. While you’re there you must try a Crown Prime Beef Rib! You won’t regret it.

Keith Johnson

Our first taste a barbecue in Kansas City was here and Jack Stack represented well! A little bit of a wait to get in which was understandable great service and more than enough food. There was no shame in their game they know what BBQ is all about.

Nick Hernandez

Easily one of the best BBQ places in KC. The atmosphere is awesome and the food is always great. The smoked wings are easily one of the best items on the menu. Pro tip: take the freight house bridge over to Union Station after you eat instead of driving back around to park in the Union Station parking garage.

Brandie Elliott

I have Celiac Disease and can't eat gluten. In the past, I've had great experiences. The manager would always visit the table when there was someone with a food allergy. We were unable to speak to the manager this time. It always made me feel more at ease. The food was good and plentiful, but I will skip the gluten-free bun next time.

Lonnie Rose

Great ribs and great service. Definitely will be back!

Joseph Pocher

Great service for a table of 12 separate tickets. Great food and drinks. Very helpful and friendly staff

Lance Burns

I think the one in Kanas was better. Lady ignored my drink request at the bar... But my meal was, ok.

Tim Porter

There is nearly always a long wait here. There is a reason for it. The food is delicious and the setting is unique and beautiful. Our server Hannah did a phenomenal job of anticipating our needs. The management truly cares about your experience. Walking distance to and from Crown Center too.

Tailer Dean

The food was wonderful but the service was not. I made a 3pm reservation online, checked in at 3pm and was told it would be a few minutes while other tables finished up. We waited while other patrons were seated for about 30 minutes I checked with the hostess about our reservation and instead of checking us in originally they marked me as a no-show. We were seated quickly after that and the food came quickly but our waitress was constantly zooming by and only checked in on us once. The food really was amazing though and almost made up for the lack of service.

Dave Methvin

Great bbq, great sides, great service, and great beer selection. All the things we had were great. The server let us split sides on the sandwiches so we could try more than just the fries. Loved the fries, the slaw, and the baked beans. Nothing is over-saturated in sauce, a pet peeve of mine. You won't go wrong here no matter what you choose, and you definitely won't go hungry.

Markus Impola

I really liked the barbecue here. Still getting accustomed to the difference to Texas BBQ. The smoked chicken wings were really good, must try these with some of their chunky blue cheese sauce. Brisket was good, although prefer a bit thicker cut. Ribs were slightly dry for my taste but flavor was good. Burnt ends are a must try, both beef and pork. Brings us to the dessert. Holy brownie!!! Topped with ice cream and absolutely the most decadent, chocolate and vanilla ice cream explosion in your mouth. You have to get this. Extra bonus is that it’s basically calorie free, so it helps me keep my extremely athletic figure in check.

Emily Stoner

Delicious BBQ! Place came recommended by our hotel and I'm very glad we went! A little fancier than I was expecting, but nothing you have to dress up for. Large indoor dining as well as a big patio, and lots of dedicated parking! Fast service and delicious! Loved the fries, loaded baked potato, and the brisket and pulled pork sandwich! Check them out!

Shannon Keinath

Was good food long waiting and parking ,got a take out instead of 1half wait

C B Sr.

Good Food. Small Portions. High Prices. I paid twenty bucks for takeout that wasn't enough to fill up a five-year old. Still, it's worth the trip.

Eddis Goodale

On a recent trip, we stayed overnight in Kansas City, and simply had to experience true KC barbeque. Went to Jack Stack per a recommendation of our hotel concierge. Wow! I haven't consumed that much barbeque in a single sitting in decades. Brisket and burnt ends were fabulous; the wait staff were attentive to our needs; the price reasonable for the amount of food served. Makes me want to return, if only to try something else from the extensive menu.

Cynthia Mayo

This place is always crowded and in my opinion not the best Jack Stack in town. The best food and service consistently at a Jack Stack is the overland park restraunt.

Shannon Carroll

Elijah was absolutely phenomenal. He took the time to explain the menu to us, made excellent recommendations, and was very attentive. We were kind of a rowdy group of 16, but you never saw him sweat. We all left stuffed and satisfied, and definitely wanting to come back to see him. His service, and the food, were definitely worth the wait.

Glen Flint

Great food, reasonable prices, and nice interior.

Jaun Domino

Stellar from the moment we stepped in. The staff is awesome, the drinks are superb and the food is phenomenal!

Kevin Sidenstricker

Great menu selections! Something for ALL tastes. GREAT service!!! Reasonably priced with super value for my money. Going back!!!

Ed Steller

Service was perfect!! Food excellent. Price kind of expensive but well worth it.

Kevin McGowan

Amazing food, I dare anyone to walk out and be able to eat anything for a day. Wonderful service from hostess stand to water fillers. If in KC don't miss going

mary west

Absolutely wonderful! Can't speak too highly about Jack Stack BBQ! This is what BBQ is all about! Flavorful, tender meats served in a warm, friendly dining experience. We visited recently a BBQ Rib restaurant in Chicago (see my other review) and the food was overcooked and mediocre, a shadow of its former restaurant in Skokie. Jack Stack sets the standard for BBQ! Thank you for a memorable dinner in Kansas City!

Michael Melloy

Best barbecue in KC. lamb chops a suprising pleasure. The beans are a joy with bits of meat.

David O

The food here is tasty and various. Very typical of Kansas City style barbecue. There's a reason this is one of the staple barbecue joints in that industry. What separates Jack Stack is the ambience. If you're looking for a bit more of an upscale ambience, while still enjoying delicious KC barbecue, this is more the place for you. Service was prompt and pleasant. Nothing marvelously exceptional, but it was mostly unobtrusive, efficient, and, from what I could tell, knowledgable. I enjoyed my experience here, and, were I to want KC barbecue with nicer ambience and service, this is where I would go.

Patrick Wong

Some of the best BBQ in the city! You will not go wrong with anything on the menu! Their claim to fame is the cheesy corn as I always get it as my side.

Kim Lewis

Numerous friends recommended we go here for BBQ on our visit to Kansas City and the food was great. The Apps, BBQ shrimp, nice grill marks and a tastey sauce off set the huge Onion rings. These were no joke rings , probably the biggest we have ever had and we liked the BBQ for dipping. For dinner we had almost all the BBQ on the menu, burnt ends, baby back ribs, pork ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork. But the best by far was the BBQ Crown prime rib. Spend the extra money and get this it is worth it. The only mistake we made was getting one of these as part of Jacks Best. If we are every back in KC we would probably get multiple crowns and try the lamb. The desserts, carrot cake and brownies were solid, but you don't go here for dessert, it is an afterthought to amazing BBQ. A great BBQ restaurant, highly recommend.

Walter X

Good tender bbq pricey but the service wow..you think it they do it

Lenny and Kara Jackson

Great food in a beautiful facility and location! I had burnt ends, potato salad, and fries. I tried the pulled pork too. The jalapeno cornbread was delightful. It's not the cheapest place, but definitely worth every penny. You definitely should give it a try.

Lindy Domke

I ordered baby back ribs and a vegie kabob it tasted very good, it was a 'just right' amount of food. Great service, they were very attentive, refilled drinks promptly and checked on ingredients in the dishes as we requested. Members of our group felt the fries could have been better.

Kari Obey

The food was great. The service was good. The seating is comfortable. It is a little too dark for me. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. The location is good with restaurant parking that is off the road, in a parking lot.

McKinzey Whitty

Every time I eat here I love it more and more! Salmon dip is a must!

Marcia Hines

Jack Stack seems to haved upped its game. We eat there about once a month now. Food and service always perfect, regardless of what's ordered.

Sharon Smith

Love my ribs and bake beans

Zhi Su

Meat sweats - the portions are large. Come hungry! Even the drinks come with meat. I was super impressed with this place and the service was excellent. Also, I was very interested in the fact that they would ship, that’s right, ship you barbecue even to Canada. Albeit frozen but still. We had a large table and everyone at our table left fully satisfied and a little doggie bag in hand.

Angie Rieger

It was our first time here and it did not disappoint. We had the fried mushrooms and the corn bread off the app menu - highly recommend both. We shared a combo of burnt ends, smoked chicken, and spare ribs between the four of us with beans as the side. The amount of food was plenty for us and next time we are in town we will stop by again!

Stephen Dobosh

Went for the "Jack's Best" trio. The Crown Prime Beef Rib was absolutely delicious. Beef burnt ends were very good as well. I found the baby back ribs underwhelming as they were a bit dry and not as tender. Server was very kind. Unfortunately, the busser threw out the 2 boxes of leftovers when I got up to use the restroom. The manager only provided a coupon for an app when you get a meal next time. I think they could have done better in making up for their mistake. Otherwise, the evening was enjoyable and the $7 IPAs were crisp.

Monica Poston

Oh my gosh you HAVE to get their beans!!! Jack Stack has the absolute BEST beans in the whole country. I’m serious! You gotta get their beans! Hah and furthermore, their BBQ is top notch. But make sure you get some beans!

T M

Sat at the bar on crowded Saturday night. Comfortable relaxed vibe and great food. Friendly bar tenders, Jake is extremely nice and helpful.

Matt Young

I've been fiending for burnt ends since we got to KC and this is the first place that has had them. They were FIRE! I would normally post a photo of them, but I tore into them immediately and didn't think of a photo until I was paying the check. My wife had the jumbo sandwich with brisket and pork and loved it. Our server was new to the restaurant, but we would have had no idea had he not told us, service was perfect. We will definitely be back next time we are in kc.

Natalie

Jack Stack never disappoints! The food was fantastic as always! I would really like to say thank you to the manager Jon for his hospitality. He really went out of his way to accommodate my family for an unfortunate mishap. We can’t thank you enough and look forward to our next visit!

Dianna Childers

Cucumber jalapeno margarita..nice! Arkansas topper DeVine

Greg Grote

There was a wait at 2:30 on a Saturday, but we found a couple of seats at the bar. The bartender was pleasant and attentive, and even offered to walk to the other bar to get me a beer because their glycol cooling system was down (I changed to a margarita to save her the trip, and wasn't disappointed). Food was good, not great.

Liz Castellanos

Best BBQ. Ordered burnt ends and sliced brisket. Beans and cheese corn was so good. Atmosphere was very nice, and clean. Service was excellent and fast. Highly recommended.

George Baker

The atmosphere is unique (except for Lydia's and the German restaurant next door) and rustic. I ordered wings, a spinach salad, and of course meats. The wings were good and the blue cheese sauce even better. The spinach salad was doused in a sweet dressing that was terribly undesirable. And the meats, Turkey (amazing) and brisket (just good) in this case, were good and sauce provided was also good (the spicy sauce is reminiscent of a bloody mary which is a little odd). For the price, there's a lot better BBQ around in KC, but then again, we are spoiled to live in KC where theres amazing BBQ everywhere.

Bethany Hughes

Everything here is delicious and well made. The staff are professional, the food is bountiful and served quickly and I enjoy the ambiance. Of the sides, I enjoy the corn and the baked beans. The baked potato is also quite good. I am a burnt ends girl, myself but the ribs are tender and the chicken is flavorful. Honestly, you can’t go wrong. A bit pricey but worth it for a nice meal out at a Kansas City classic.

Bryan Shumway

Great flavors, tender meats, and delicious sides. Lunch prices are better and you still get plenty. Reservations not required, but recommended. Ample table availability for lunch.

Stewart King

The food was excellent, so good that I came back a second time in the same week. I especially recommend the lamb ribs, though the signature burnt ends (of beef) were also remarkable. In fact, I imagine it's all good. Sitting outside watching the trains go by is interesting as long as you don't mind the heat.

Chris S

Came to Jack Stack based on a recommendation from many who’ve visited this area. In short, just as everyone has stated the food was awesome. Everything literally just fell off the bone. However, my review is more for Anthony, our server. He made our experience 5 stars and more. His service was fantastic in all every way possible. He was sincere, cared, and made recommendations. Definitely a huge asset to this restaurant and business. Thanks again and next time I’m in the area, I’ll definitems be back!

Brett Mastey

Ribs were dry, and this was consensus from table of 20. Dessert was absolutely incredible. I'd go back just for that.

Mohammed Aidarous

Appetizers: barbecue Shrimp Main dish: lamb Rips “ barbecue sauce on the side” Dessert if you have space: “chocolate Mountain” Thank me later

Terrie Franklin

Always love this place. Had the jalapeno cornbread for the first time. Yummy!!! Their meats are tender and all the sides are great.

Taylor Veatch

Food was excellent, service was good. Large portions and wonderful smoked meats!

Viridiana Martinez

Good food. Good customer service.

Jonathan Pope

Jack Stack is one of the best BBQ spots in town and I LOVE the ambiance at this location! Make sure you get some wings, cheesy corn and baked beans with whatever other BBQ you get. You wont be sorry!!

James Franklin

Awesome food Great service. From Idaho tourist

Ryan Amys

Classic and classy BBQ establishment having great service, food and cocktails.

Talli Linnabery

We went to eat at Jack Stack BBQ tonight (Friday) around 740 or so. We did not have reservations and there was an hour wait. We were okay with that so we went down a couple buildings for a drink while we waited. We had barely gotten our drink and were told our table was ready so we had to ditch our drinks and get our table (not a huge issue other than wasted beer

Tamera Willson

ALWAYS ALWAYS MAKE RESERVATIONS otherwise you could be waiting, esp with larger parties. Had 6 in our party and got sat 10 mins before said reservation. Had awesome service and food, as figured with any Jack Stack location. Highly recommended.

Abdulrazzag Falah

I am a fan of steak, and to be honest I found Q39 much better... maybe because I was there on a Saturday afternoon and was crowded...

Anonymous User

LEFT THIS PLACE ABOUT AN HOUR AGO, SPENT ALMOST 30.00 ON A MEAL FOR MYSELF.....WHEN I GOT THERE, NO ONE WAS AT THE COUNTER FOR THE CARRY OUT SERVICE. WHEN A LADY DID FINALLY WALK UP SHE WOULDN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE ME OR LOOK IN MY DIRECTION ALTHOUGH I WAS LITERALLY STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER, SHE GRABBED SOME RECEIPT ROLLS AND WALKED AWAY....NEVER SAYING A WORD. ONE OF THE COOKS HAD TO COME OUT TO RING ME UP AND GIVE ME MY FOOD. PORTIONS WERE EXTREMELY SKIMPY AND THROWN TOGETHER FOR WHAT I PAID. I THANKED THE COOK FOR AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGING ME AND TOLD HIM HOW RUDE THE CASHIER WAS, HE BASICALLY IGNORED MY COMMENT, GAVE ME MY RECEIPT AND TOLD ME TO HAVE A GOOD DAY. SERVICE WAS EXTREMELY POOR AND I PASSED UP SPENDING LESS MONEY AT GATES BBQ TO COME HERE. NEVER AGAIN!!! IF I COULD GIVE THIS RESTAURANT AND MY EXPERIENCE A 0 I WOULD!!! #VERYDISSATISFIED

Carla Harvey

Very nice and clean restaurant, food was great!

Brittanei Wayne

Some of the best bbq in town. Great food and drink selections. Awesome vibe and location. The prices are not cheap but also not too expensive. My only con for this place is. The lighting is terrible. Very dim.

James Burger

Pete was an excellent waiter. Gave amazing recommendations for a very delicious meal.

Jason Franzke

Two words: Burnt ends. Or really, almost anything off of the menu is simply magical. Came here with a group and we all ordered different things and we all agreed the barbecue here is amazing. Service was great, and in a town with many outstanding barbecue options, Jack Stack stands high above all of the others and is also in the discussion for one of the best barbecue restaurants in the country, hands down.

Emily Lucas

Always a pleasure coming back to Jack Stack. I haven't been here in 7 years since I was in college. Had a wonderful dinner with my family and they accommodated my size of party very quickly.

Greg Schuyler

food was pretty average, but service was pretty good considering how busy it was.

John Heck

This was my first taste of KC barbecue and they have ana amazing menu item called the "Pitmaster" it was well worth the money with the amount of food and sides your get. If you have a larger group I would highly recommend it. The staff were very friendly and took care of all our needs while there.

Kate Klinzing

Were sat in bar, didn't get service, once seated in dining room everything was amazing. Food is delicious.

Brad Thibault

Awesome food and atmosphere

Karen Young

Beyond good. Very good food and excellent service. We go as often as possible. Servings are plentiful

E'Lynne Long

I had the beef burnt ends and sliced meat with beans, fries and potato salad. It was amazing! Also try the Tropical drink its strong and taste good. Our server was great and very attentive. Will definitely be going back.

Tonia Koch

had a pretty big misunderstanding w prices and what we got for the price! the manager liz, was amazing and made the experience wonderful for us, and went above and beyond, w making sure we were satisfied when we left! our waitress madelynn, was also very great! she informed us on all the meats and kept our drinks filled!

Bart Summers

Tried a dinner at this place for real KC BBQ. Arrived around 4 pm and was seated immediately. Drink order was taken and served promptly. Food order was broad, and the food came fast and hot. I had the sampler with chicken, burnt ends, and ribs served with fires and slaw. I never got the slaw. Meat was good and KC style. Not dripping in sauce. Drink was kept full and service was great. It was good and worth the price.

Henry Lu

This is definitely a five star interns of food and service. I tried the combo with three meat choices. The burnt ends are fabulous, and lamb ribs are better than OK. However, the baby back rib is a bit dry to me.

Angela Brown-Kemmerer

This was my daughter's first time eating here. She ordered her favorite, K.C. strip medium rare. She loved it so much she looked like she was going to cry. She said she wants to work there to learn how to cook steak like that so she can make other people like she did just then. Our waiter, John Adams, was absolutely amazing as well. Best service we've ever had anywhere! Great atmosphere and well worth the money!

Lisa Demaree

Kansas City staple. This is my favorite location. The beans are fantastic.

Shay Spencer

Great service. Great atmosphere. AMAZING food.

Garrett Evans

I cannot figure out why they're charging $42 for their ribeye. It was a pretty flimsy and tough cut of meat. I get better textured choice cuts on managers special at my local grocery. Usually at that price range you're looking at a bit of dry aging, but I could not detect any funky note. 3 stars because my wife enjoyed the sides and burnt ends.

Deborah Everson

It was our first time at Jack Stack Barbecue and we were not disappointed. My husband and I started with the fried mushrooms. You could tell they were fresh and the creamy horseradish was a good addition. We split the Kansas City Combo. We chose the beef ribs, beef burnt ends and the chicken. Our sides were the cheesy corn bake and the coleslaw. My favorite were the beef burnt ends. So juicy and flavorful. We finished our meal with the key lime pie. This is the real deal. The lime curd was so smooth. Our server was great and prompt.

Art C

Awesome grub and server was great. Thanks Jordan for taking care of us. Highly recommend.

Joyce Butler

I am vegetarian and had the most excellent spinach salad and roasted cauliflower. My boyfriend had the Crown Prime and said it was "unbelievable!" Our server Cindy was so knowledgeable and helpful - her recommendations were dead on. Recommend. (Before and after photos. )

Markus B

IF your looking for an upscale BBQ restaurant look no further! Jack Stack is the the finest BBQ dining KC has to offer

Curt McWhirt

Introduced a friend from out of town to KC BBQ here tonight. He was very happy. The food and drinks were quite good and our waitress was top notch.

Lisa Kennedy

The lamb ribs are absolutely to die for! They are the juiciest a d most tender ribs I have ever had in my entire life! Highly recommended

John Deskiewicz

New York Travelers Simply Delicious.. The BBQ Was Awesome. The Smoked Shrimp was Unbeatable, the Burnt Ends were tender and juicy... Very, Very Good

Jordan Henrickson

Visiting from out of town for work, stopped here for lunch with a few colleagues and it was great! The waiting staff was really great, the food was plentiful and really good. Their Burnt Ends are amazing and a decent price. You do have to park in the parking garage to the West, but it’s free. I highly recommend Jack Stacks for anyone looking for lunch or dinner in the Westport area! A+

Sarah Monteith

Very good barbeque options! This is more of an upscale joint. Easy to sit at the bar alone or with friends. Very friendly staff!

Dave Bois

One of the best in KC. The burnt ends and beans here are off the charts! But quality of everything here is outstanding. Amazing atmosphere. Great BBQ first stop if you're visiting or entertaining

Rob Curry

One of the best meals I've ever had. A friend recommended this spot and the Crown Prime Beef Rib, saying "order that and you can thank me later". I went all in on his recommendation, along with the bartenders suggestion to skip the fries and slaw and get the cheesy corn and beans. The bone in the rib was the size of my wrist and had more meat than I could have imagined. You need to go here AND order the short rib. It's worth every penny.

Whitney Jones

I love Jack Stack the whole menu is delicious! Great quality of bbq and amazing appetizers. Dessert is a must and the service is always pleasant!

Paige Stormblade

this was really good though i'm not into beef the chicken was good.

Kyle Meyers

Kansas City has several great BBQ options. That said, this is my favorite place for BBQ. I often get the Kansas City Combo, but when I go with my brother, we like to get the Crown Prime Beef Ribs, which is a dinner of three huge ribs with sides. The meal is intended for two people and it's more than we can finish. It is unreal. Every local has their favorite location for ribs, burnt ends, etc, but overall considering the totality of the restaurant, (ambiance, entree, appetizers, and service, Jack Stacks is our favorite. The fire-kissed wings, onion rings, and the baked beans are fantastic.

Tanika Hollins

Really enjoyed dinner today. Great customer service food was great.

Tommy Ambrose

The lamb ribs are superb.

Mary Koder

Every time in KC is a must have stop. Terrific service and excellent food.

Donaldo De Hoyos

The best BBQ in KC!

Jay Ko

We ordered family style one and it was great!

Ryan Ellis

I love Jack Stack. I've found that when people visit from out of town they want authentic Kansas City bbq and Jack Stack is always my goto for a more upscale experience.

Aaron Griffiths

The Prime beef rib, cheesy corn, and slaw were all great!

Nathalie Roberts

The best barbecue in KC. I love gates too but jackstacks is the PLACE!

Amber Nelson Wood

Hands down, in my opinion, this is the very best bbq in KC!! I am a vegetarian and there is still plenty of choices for me on the menu! The sides are second to none, ie the mushroom or onion rings tower! Wow!! What a Great, fun, night out, dining experience.

Kym Lampart

Had the crown prime ribs. Delish. Guys working carryout at plaza location were AWESOME!

Pamela

Fabulous food and drinks. Go to the bar! Both of the bartenders are fabulous, professional ladies who are super fun and knowledgeable about their products and the city itself.

Benjamine Peetz

I really enjoyed my visit. We ordered pork burnt ends as an appetizer, and they were very good! I ordered the barbecue combo, with beef brisket and cheesy potato casserole, upgrading to a Crown prime beef rib (instead of beef ribs). The upgrade was well worth the price. Besides being very filling, the meal was amazing. The brisket was thinly sliced and had amazing flavor. The single Crown prime beef rib fell away from the bone and needed no seasoning or sauce. It was very tender and the bark looked like it would be tough, but it was soft and had an amazing taste.

Valaree Taylor

This week was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. The drinks were amazing too!

Alex Gracier

Greatest cheesy potatoes I have ever had. I don't even have a picture because I ate them all so fast! The bbq was great too!

Anshuman Bhatia

Great classy BBQ. Sat at the bar so can’t attest to the servers but the bartender was great. I had the cornbread, and then the 3 choice platter. Burnt ends were good, but the ribs were the highlight. Lovely bite and still melty, not my favorite beans , but loved the cheesy corn. Great ambiance, high on my KC list!

Robert White

Great atmosphere and simply the best food. Service is always wonderful. Advice, only eat half your meal to save room for moms carrot cake. Served hot with a warm glaze on top the way it really should be!!!

Erika Stollberg

One of my favorite restaurants ever!! It’s a definite must to stop here when in Kansas City. The host Floyd was super nice! Best BBQ and staff! I highly recommend anyone who loves some good BBQ to check this place out!

Ostwald Daudinot

Amazing place ! Wish we had one close by in PA

Vania Hamner

Stopped in for a weekday lunch on a work trip. I got the two meat combo with burnt ends and baby back ribs. The ribs in particular were so good I think they are my new religion.

Cyril Philip

Great bbq spot in the country club plaza area. Overall huge portions and great food. I would recommend the Beef Ribs which were the best I’ve had and gigantic. The burnt ends are OK, but would focus on the Ribs dish if dropping by.

Jordan Arp

Excellent, I'm not a huge bbq fan but my bf is and figured while in KC! But drinks were great, our server Matt was fantastic, would definitely recommend!

Miranda Campbell

Wow! This restaurant is beautiful with every detail! The chandelier and architecture was stunning!! More importantly, the food was a classic Kansas City BBQ hit! The ribs were honestly to die for! Not picture the saucy pulled pork and fluffy cornbread. Jack Stack's unique bbq sauce is what really made the difference for me. I had to get three sauce bottles to go!!

While visiting Kansas City, we decided to visit Jack Stack Barbecue. We had heard that it one of the best for KC barbecue. We chose the Freight House location which is in the Crossroads Art District. The building is a converted warehouse and has high ceilings; it has a nice rustic feel. We were able to score a reservation the Friday evening we dined there. Once we arrived, we realized how lucky we were. The restaurant was crowded, We were surprised by how many large parties were seated. My wife and I were one of the few twosomes in the restaurant. The background noise level was rather high but that’s not surprising given how crowded the restaurant was. We were seated shortly after we checked in for our reservation. For drinks, my wife had a lemon drop martini and I had a Boulevard Brewing The Calling IPA; Boulevard Brewing is a local Kansas City brewery. I started my dinner with a bowl of gumbo; it was very good and had a nice smoky flavor that I’ve not had in gumbo before. For our entrées, my wife had the 4 center-rib pork spare rib dinner and I had the burnt ends & sliced meat; I chose the pork burnt ends and sausage for the sliced meat. For sides, we had French fries and coleslaw. When our meals came out, mine came with smoked brisket rather than the sausage I had ordered; since it was a tossup for me between sausage and brisket, I decided not to say anything and enjoyed he brisket. Our meals were very good; the meats were tender and nicely smoked and portions were ample. I particularly liked the coleslaw. We both enjoyed our dinners. Our waiter was attentive. Servers rather the waiters/waitresses bring the meals to the tables. If you’re in the Kansas City area and are looking for great barbecue, you can’t go wrong at any of the five Jack Stack locations.

Chris Brown

If you want to eat here, I highly advise you to make reservations. If not you could easily end up waiting for at least 1 to 1.5 hours to eat. Locations is perfect, food is astronomical, restaurant is clean, and customer service is good. For sure plan on going back!

Lisa Mayfield

Amazing BBQ, especially the pork. Curbside pickup is convenient and fast!!

Taylor Ference

The nicest bartenders I've ever met. Always asked if I needed anything and they welcomed me to Kansas City since it was my first time in KC. Hats off to Jacob there!

martinez martinez

Every thing was great, will be back.

Sandy Connor

Great brisket and beans. Cheesy corn good too!

Jan Haverland

Excellent service. Waiter knowledgeable. Shared ribs. Our food was the best we have ever had anywhere! Just a wonderful experience. Was enjoying the events on first Friday in the Crossroads district. Unfortunately the signage on the streets was not accurate so ended up with a $73 parking ticket. Should have driven to restaurant first and walked from there.

Toni Orth

Perfect burnt ends. Delicious filet mignon. Great pulled pork sandwich that my kid devoured like an ear of corn. You must get the carrot cake. It is served warm, covered in icing, and is thick, tender, and moist just like a filet mignon but it's cake!

Mehran Irdmousa

Fantastic place and great friendly staff. Loved the ambiance. Food tastes good enough. Tried their beef ribs and burnt ends. Great Cream Burlee too. Only issue was the BBQ sauces were pretty average and they don't have their own brewed iced tea, two things that are a must in a BBQ place. Also the food and all sides were served too hot to eat (temp wise). Will come again.

Adriane tntzmom245

The service and food here are AMAZING! We had such a good time with our friends and family here! We will definitely come back here when we're in town!

Timothy McKay

Great food and atmosphere

Ian Huey

Great food and amazing burnt ends

Allan Liefer

Several Jack Stack locations in Kansas City. We have been to several of them. They are all excellent. One of the best in Kansas City. Great Kansas City barbecue.

Trevor

Best BBQ I've ever had. Worth the trip from Canada!

Bonnie House

Jack Stack is Wonderful. Our party of 10 included 3 young children and they had crayons & a coloring menu ready to go for the kids. Our server was outstanding. She took drink & appetizer orders and orders for the kids, and we all started off happily. Entrees came at just the right pace and were delicious. I took a box home, but the rest of the party cleaned their plates. It was a special occasion with visiting family and we had the best experience we could have had! Thanks Jack Stack.

Mike Bresnahan

Everything is excellent. The meats are smoked perfectly. Tender moist incredibly flavorful

Deena Horowitz

We had a large party for a client dinner, and it was packed on the Tuesday night we went. Even with the big rush the service was amazing and fast, and the food was delicious. This location is in a very posh shopping area, so definitely worth doing some shopping and following with a dinner here!

Keeley Thompson

Absolutely amazing! Made a reservation for 7:15 and got there at 7 and got my table right away. The ribs were absolutely amazing and so were the sides! If I come back to KC I’m definitely coming back here. Best barbecue i’ve had in my life.

Cameron Dubbert

This place was really good. Nice, authentic KC BBQ!

Ryan Ruppert

Hostess was rude and make my 6 year old daughter cry. We had to leave without dining. Horrible place

Gloria Hember

The best barbecue in Kansas City. We love this place. Whenever we have company in town, Jack Stack in the Freight District Is our go -to place for the best dining experiences to give "the best of Kansas City" feel to our out of town friends.

Shawn Collins

Great location. Lots of parking. Absolutely beautiful expansive restaurant. Food was wonderful, drinks were wonderful, service was absolutely fantastic. Tiffany provided some of the best service I've ever had. Wish we had these in Florida!!!

Zman Jeep

Please like my review if it helps you! Really enjoyed my lunch there this afternoon. Nice atmosphere and great service. I ordered the Beef burnt ends with the BBQ baked beans and fries. The ends were amazing. Tender and moist and very flavorful .Not much sauce on them but that's the way I like it. I got their hot BBQ sauce to dip them when I wanted and I loved it as well. The fries were very good but I loved the beans. My daughter ordered the kids pork spare ribs meal. Came with 2 ribs(fairly big) fries bread and a drink for $6.99. I tried a bite of her ribs and it made me wish I had ordered them instead. Overall... We loved the food .. the service was spot on... Very friendly and food was served fast and hot. I have only one issue. I enjoy Boulevard Wheat when I eat BBQ and did not enjoy the fact that 2 pints cost me a 1/3rd of my bill at $12. The rest of the prices I felt were fine.

Katherine Powers

So they sell something called burnt ends. Sounds awful, didn't order it, ended up eating some shared by my fellow diners, and now believe that it is one of the most wonderful things. NOT A GREAT SPOT FOR A VEGAN.

James Binggeli

Co-workers & I went in & ordered a $270 package deal for 18ppl. (Our group 13 ppl total) Food was good. There should probably been more meat for what we paid per person.

Andria Maxine

This is where I fell in love with Burnt Ends. Never knew what they were until I came here and I just spend two days in Texas and St Louis. Jack Stack is absolutely on the top of my list for places to eat if I ever find myself back in KC and to be honest, I might just have to catch a flight just for the Burnt Ends here. Establishment was nice, great decor. Staff was super awesome. We told them we were on a BBQ in a couple other States, great convo! Very happy I came here. Instagram @planefoodies

Chris Hayes

Good BBQ in KC but not worth the price. The food is good but made for a mass quantity of people. Street vendors have same quality for cheaper. The staff is very accommodating and friendly.

Mike Porter

I heard all the hype and was excited. Great atmosphere. Got the menu and they didn't have brisket. What kind of BBQ place doesn't have brisket?!? It was far better than Famous Dave's though, so that was good, bit still sad they wouldn't try/ offer brisket.

Patrick West

This a great place to entertain guests. I like their style of BBQ but recently I've noticed that the platings either got fancier, larger and bright white or the portions have gotten smaller. The cute little finger bowls with extra sauce hold about a tablespoon. Still a satisfying meal but it's getting fancy.

Martha Roxberry

I was very disappointed by the quality of food we received. The brunts ends was very hard and dry with a lot of sauce. The chicken was overcook and dry. The ribs had so much fat on them half of the ribs was thrown to the trashed. Be weary of ordering take out at this restaurant! It is not worth your time and money!! The food is horrible with a lot of sauce.

David Gast

Iconic KC BBQ. Everything on the menu is outstanding. Professional service. Take your family or a client. Great experience.

Alberto Comazzi

I walked in and sat at the bar to get a couple of beers and food. No wait at all but the place was crowded, so I think that if you want to sit down at a table probably making a reservation is the best thing to do. Bartenders were super friendly. I ordered food and they get it to me very fast, which was great because I was starving! I've tried better bbq place in the country but food is really good and the atmosphere is great too. I ordered beef burnt ends and beef brisket, it was great! I wish I ordered more sides. Next time :-) Will definitely go back and suggest it to friends. Good job!

Biscuits and Gravy

Great burnt ends and excellent sweet tea. Pleasant staff and prompt service.

Anthony Stephenson

Visited a few weeks ago from Omaha Nebraska with colleagues. We decided to take a rode trip back just to have lunch. An amazing experience both times with incredible food and good customer service. Thank you

Stephanie Gibson

First time eating here and it definitely didn't disappoint. Excellent food and service!

Patricia Johnson

Did not disappoint! Food was excellent! Definitely will take the time again for a special get together to order again. Thanks for the good customer service!

greg starr

Great food, takes a long time to get a drink if your not sitting at the bar.

john burjus

First time here, all the good reviews are true. I had a full slab of lamb and beef burned ends. Was perfect. Nice atmosphere. Will come back again

Erin Ng

After trying to get in for lunch with a large group, we decided to make late night dinner reservations to make sure we could get in. We are so glad we did - this BBQ is delicious! Service was great, I loved the dimmed light atmosphere, but the food was the center of attention. Highly recommend - especially if you are just in town visiting, like me!

C H

Drove up from Omaha and had Jack Stack for the 1st time..amazing food and atmosphere! Staff was great. I highly recommend their food! Cooked right and slid off the bone! So good!

Kobi Reese

Well...This is my last night in Kansas City. I finished it off at a very well known BBQ joint named Jack Stack BBQ. I must say that this place was "The Shiznit" for real!! The ribs were terribly tender, The Burnt Ends were melt in your mouth...Mmmmm..Delicious!! If u are in Kansas City visiting, make sure u stop here for a bite to eat. The service was excellent. Our waiter Mike was great and tended to our needs, as expected. Great food Jack Stack. I will be back.

Doc Dwayne

Definitely one of the beat location in town. Love how the restaurant looks inside and how clean it is. It's a great date night restaurant!!!

Michael Fritsche

Okay kind of pricey for what we ordered but in a downtown area that I guess that's to be expected

Keith A Taylor I

Best barbecue, outside of Big T's of you ask me...

Pupper Pupperonii

Worth a visit! Great food, polite and personable staff, pleasant and cozy atmosphere. I can't stress enough how good the food is

Duke Hanson

Nice bar area to eat in as I was traveling alone.

Elisha

Just go. Service and food were amazing!

The 7 members of my family arrived for a late lunch after seeing the Stonehenge exhibit. Staff was rude. After waiting 30 minutes for a 15 minute wait...we were taken to an metal table outside to stand around waiting for the staff to find us three more chairs. Yes...the plan was to sit a party of 7 (5 adults and two teens) at an outside table made for 4. The menus and silverware alone took up almost 1/4 of the table top and once the 7th chair arrived - there was no space between the chairs at all (sides were touching - f that provides a clearer understanding of the size of the table.) The response when I asked if they were adding a table was a snotty - . "No. This will work." When I explained it would not...the server walked back inside with an attitude. He returned about 3 minutes later to tell us that If that wouldn't work they would have to "find something else" and it would be another 15 to 20 minutes. Granted - There was minimal seating open inside as we walked through, but the offer to sit us "near" each other was never offered.. Sadly...Jack Stack was highly recommended...but I left with a bad taste without even getting to see a menu. I feel this treatment was partially due to the fact that my son in law is from Puerto Rico and he went in to request the table. The staff at the door seemed confused when the rest of our party came in...even questioning my husband twice on the number of guests after he advised we were with the rest of our party and we had reiterated that we were all together I am hoping that is not the case...as that type of treatment should never be tolerated. My son in law is a US citizen born to an Army family in the great state of Texas. He is a veteran himself as is my husband. For our family (or any family) to be treated this way is unacceptable. Thank you Jack Stack Freight House for the amazing KC welcome - - - I am glad to take my family, friends, and money to the Char Bar in Westport where you are always treated with respect and amazing service.

Lance Morgan

Another good BBQ place with tasty sauce, good service and really good burnt ends. My family really enjoyed it, but I'd prefer at least 1 main course option for vegetarians like Joe's has (even though it's a BBQ place, yes). I just got fried mushrooms & a salad. They did give us 2 BBQ sauces for the mushrooms, though. Which was great.

Chris Hickie

Greatest upscale BBQ experience around. I always visit when I'm in KC for business or pleasure. Try the lamb ribs or get a crown beef rib. Beans and cheesy corn is not to be missed here either, a must try. And the old fashioned are pretty amazing too...

Ufemia Brown

Food very good. Large portions. Ordered meal for 2, but it would have fed 3 easily. Good customer service. Worth the money.

Shannon Dawn

Great service and accommodations. We reserved for 21 and ended up with 25 and they jumped into action to help us. Best food I have ever had in my life. Great wine selection and the servers were amazing. The 15 dollar parking lot is misleading bc as long as you have your receipt then it’s free to park in the back

Aaron Dittmar

Great BBQ! Pro tip: Split a plate because they are quite large. We got the three meat combo for $20 and it easily fed two average eaters.

Tim Stoddard

Was my favorite place in kc but dont over do it i dont even eat here no more.. To many visits now its just "meh"

Nick Polanowski

Might be the best BBQ I’ve had in the state of MO. When we walked in, we were friendly welcomed and quickly seated around 1pm. Once seated we quickly had our drinks and 10 minutes later appetizers arrived. As we finished our plates waitress was prompt to clear the table before our main meal arrived. The burnt end and smoked sausage was fantastic. Amazing service and even better food.
