Been here several times on Wednesdays for their $1 Al pastor street tacos. This is my favorite place for tacos now. The tortillas are made fresh to order and they have a nice spicy sauce. The Al pastor has good flavor on its own but they also provide plenty of cilantro and lime. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

The tortillas were magical. There's nothing like a fresh hand made tortilla. The tortillas are also made to order. She's not trying to make a stack of them. She keeps pace with the cook making the meat on the flat top grill. It is really fun to watch them cook together. The salsas are really good. They have a hot and a mild salsa. I like both of them equally. I could probably eat chips and salsa all day long.

The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was because of the pineapple in the al pastor meat, other than that it was really good.

Food is delicious MOST of the time.. .but the ONE lonely waitress needs to work on her customer service skills. It's not my fault you are the only waitress there and was unable to check my order before you handed it to me. So obviously mistakes happen but if I'm polite to you, I'm going to need the SAME in return.

Area is very sketchy. Drunk guy stumbled in. Not their fault. People cursing and fighting down the street as we left. Again, not their fault. Chips were stale. It took 3 times of asking to get salsa that wasn't too spicy, but by the time we got it chips were almost gone. We weren't offered any more. French fries were not very good. The tacos, beans and rice were good though and cheaper than most places. The bathroom looked like it was falling apart, but it was usable and mostly clean.

Like all of the other reviews state, the al pastor tacos were amazing. It was probably the best taco I have ever had. They were making the tortillas fresh right there. She had a giant bowl of dough and she hand cranked it through a little machine that cut out the circles. Then she put the circles on the grill. So fresh. I also ordered a chicken Sope. It was really good but the tacos are amazing.

One of the BEST authentic Mexican food we have found in the KC area. Having lived in Mexico and having Mexican parents this definitely hit the spot. We all got different items and I can truly say you can’t go wrong with whatever you pick. However, highly recommend the tacos!

I don't care that the waittress didn't understand basic English, those Al Pastor tacos are 5 stars. Now in my top 3 Mexican restaurants in KC along with El Pollo Rey and San Antonio Tortilleria. Pastor tacos are $1 on Friday/Saturday until 9PM.

After passing by this restaurant many times we decided to stop. Wow have we been missing out. Handmade corn tortillas, pastor style. Amazing. I’m not ashamed to say I drank the mild sauce. The staff was so welcoming and let us take a photo. We will be back. Best in town for street tacos and I thought we’d had them all.

Went here with a group and every single one of us said this is the best Mexican in KC. The grille is in the dining room so when they get busy it gets hot pretty quick. The chips and salsa are... different because instead of salsa it's like a hot sauce in a squeeze bottle. But everything else is great and totally authentic.

This place has been around since I was a little child. So it's kind of a iconic pillar of the community. My last review of this place was years ago oh, and I was in the area and I really wanted some fish. I decided to stop in and I am so glad I did. The inside of the place still looks the same well-loved but clean.

El Camino Real is a true hole-in-the-wall. While it looks plain from the outside and the staff can be aloof, the food is bursting with flavor, authentic, and cheap! I definitely plan on coming back again soon for late night tacos and their $1 tacos on Wednesday!

If you are looking for good Mexican food in Kansas City this isn't it. However, if you are looking for a fantastic Mexican food in Kansas City this is the place to be. As soon as you walk in, the first thing that hits you is the fantastic aroma drifting off of the spinning meat cooking right next to the restaurant window. The next thing you'll notice will be one of the excellent cooks making tortillas by hand. I have eaten at this restaurant many times and it has never failed to meet my expectations. The prices are reasonable, they will craft and adjust your meal to your liking, the service is excellent and the food is even better. This restaurant has my highest recommendation.

Let me tell you about this amazing place!!! We were on our way home from Minnesota and while going through Missouri we started to get hungry. I looked up places in the KC area and this was one of many. I had a hunch and decided to go just 10 mins out of route to get there. Did I make a great choice!! It's such a small little place but the have a whole menu. Their specialty though, tacos al pastor with hand made tortillas was the absolute best I have had in a while. I would definitely recommend this place a thousand times. In fact, I think we might visit KC just to go eat there!

Highly recommended! Amazing tacos con asada y carnitas!! Ordered mine with cheese, popular with area workmen, prices are moderate. We paid $19 for 4 tacos each and 2 drinks! Cannot beat that. Two adults, cozy seating, and friendly staff.

Salsa is really good. I'd say that is the highlight. The reviews make it sound stellar. Though the restaurant is usually full of Mexicans, which is a good sign, I would say the food is OK. Not memorable. My son ordered chicken tacos and got corn tortillas with chicken in them, that's it. Of course you can add the table salsa to it, but still pretty unimpressive. I think Pancho's is a much tastier place.
