Feels very homely. The employees are very polite and the food is good. It's a typical mid-western diner. Fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes, macaroni, brown and white gravy is the norm. The salad is a little wanting but all in all very good comfort food.

Memories of enjoying this home town restaurant & buffet with my parents and friends. Breakfast lunch or dinner you can't go wrong. Lovely salad bar with lots of variety and fried chicken the best in the area. Always 2 or 3 main dish choices on the buffet with chicken gravy to go with those mashed potatoes. Yum!

I went to Downhome today and didn't have my Debit card. The very nice lady behind the registor said don't worry I will pay. What a blessing. Nothing like very small towns. I have been so blessed to day. I will be paying this fotward for sure. Oh yes the meal was down home for sure.

Waited a very long time for my food, 2 other tables ordering after me had theirs 8 and 11 minutes before me, then the hash browns were dark brown crisps that seemed to have been scraped up left from other orders. Unpalatable. I won't repeat that experience.

First off, they weren't kidding when they said the pancakes were big. IMO, they are not big, they're huge. The flavor is absolutely wonderful. I had the country breakfast, and everything was cooked wonderfully. Our elwaitress was very attentive and spot on with everything. I will be recomending this place to anyone who passes through Independence and hungry.

Call this place the Down Home Freezer. Coldest place in my life time I have ever tried to eat at. Food quality was fair and service was marginal with very very unfriendly servers. Bring heavy coats, gloves, and a hat during the winter. Hate to see how much clothes you will have to remove in the dead of summer here.

We stopped here for lunch on a road trip. It was a wonderful find. The buffet was delicious. Probably one of the best salad bars I've found anywhere. My kids loved the meatballs and friend chicken. Wonderful wait staff and a true down home feel.

First time ever eating there was not impressed at all. The chicken was extremely greasy, the potatoes had no salt in them, gravy tasted like it was made of old grease, and the rolls were also greasy and soggy like they had poured the grease all over the top of them and tasted just like the gravy did. Need to do a lot of improvements before I go back.

Very inexpensive and the service is very good. I've never had bad food here. They have an all-you-can-eat buffet and/or salad bar and good desserts. The restaurant is clean, quaint, and very down home. They offer a great selection on their menu, theirs steaks are very good and very reasonable pricing. You won't leave hungry. A definite favorite of mine as well as the locals.

The breakfast was pricey and amounts small. Eggs were rubbery, sausage links overcooked, and French toast mediocre. Drive to Cherryvale and eat breakfast at the diner on Liberty and find out what a good breakfast is. Open Tuesday through Sunday. Specials Tuesday through Friday.

Staff is friendly and helpful, and has a nice rustic feel. Portions good for the price, but the item ordered was a bit tasteless. When ketchup or steak sauce needs to be added, means it needs flavor and/or it was a bit overcooked.
