Came here due to the reviews about the best dumplings in KC. It absolutely did not disappoint. Started with a cocktail that was delicious and refreshing. The dumplings are hands down best I've had since moving to KC. Had the Cantonese duck noodle soup. I'm a big duck fan so can be a little discriminating. Again zero disappointment. The staff were excellent and I used their advice for the whole meal. If you are in town or a local this is a must do. You won't be sorry!

We ordered the spicy wontons. They were delicious. We ordered the special, Spicy Duck. The food was full of flavor. The duck was juicy with Enormous portions. We recommend this establishment especially for the duck.

We tried some of their most popular dishes - Chili pepper chicken wontons, combo dumplings pan fried (shrimp, pork & chicken) for starters. I could drink the sauce they serve w/ the dumplings! Then for entrees- Chinese style pot roast & Cantonese style roasted duck both over noodles. I love the boiled peanuts served with the duck!

I just can't get enough of the roast duck with noodles. Also, for all those over 21, they'll make their boba tea (bubble tea) into "adult" style with liquor of your choice. My personal favorite is matcha (green tea). It's crazy delicious and refreshing.

Love this place, always good food and service. Tried their signature Fire Bird noodle soup with Roast Duck. The noodles were a bit thick which took some of the flavoring away from the palate, otherwise = Awesome, make sure you are hungry they serve a King's portion. A bit pricey for the quality, and a quaint place to meet a small group of loved ones. Parking is limited!

Love this little place. Let's just start with those dumplings. Lord jesus they are delicious. The noodles are the best I've had. I could eat those by theirselves with some soy sauce. Nice quite atmosphere and a nice place for a quick dinner. Go try it you won't be sorry.

The only place in town that has “Chinese pancakes” - scallion bread with sauce. It’s delicious, and other than a long wait once in a while, it’s usually pretty quick, comfortable, and tasty. And when you want spicy, they don’t hold back. Great place!

It was very tasty. The portions appeared to be very large, but most of it was broth. The duck soup had a generous amount of meat, but there weren't many noodles in it. The shrimp rolls were also much smaller than expected. The peanut salad wasn't very good, but it was just not my liking to eat cooked soggy peanuts. Personal preference. The seafood soup was good. We didn't order any drinks, but the bar seemed in order. The owner or manager checked on us frequently. The waiter started to get frustrated that we weren't ordering fast enough after the appetizer, but other than that he was attentive. It was surprisingly slow for a "holiday" (Valentine's Day). It has a very comfortable environment, and they support small local business.

Delicious and authentic Chinese food in Westport and close to Country Club Plaza area. Every time we are in the area we would come to this restaurant for dumplings (my kids’ favorite) and some noodle soup. The owner and servers are super friendly and courteous. There is a parking behind the restaurant if you can’t find a parking on the street. Highly recommended!

I was in town for work in 2017 and meant to try this spot out, and kicked myself after leaving for having not tried it. I vowed when I returned in 2018 not to make the same mistake twice. Thankfully I kept my promise to myself and tried out Blue Koi, and I'm so glad I did. Their dumpling soup was seriously fantastic. The only thing I didn't like was knowing that when I went home I wouldn't be able to get anything nearly as good again. Their red bean milk was also delicious! The service was great too. I'm so so so glad I stopped by and tried it out. The neighborhood was also really neat, I waddled over (I was so full after lunch) to the bookstore across the street after my meal.

Been coming here for years and cannot rave enough about how good EVERYTHING is! Took mom & dad to Blue Koi for the first time! They LOVED it! Known for their house made wonton wrappers, dumplings & noodles. We tried some of their most popular dishes - Chili pepper chicken wontons, combo dumplings pan fried (shrimp, pork & chicken) for starters. I could drink the sauce they serve w/ the dumplings! Then for entrees- Chinese style pot roast & Cantonese style roasted duck both over noodles. I love the boiled peanuts served with the duck! The food is absolutely craveable! And the service was perfect as always! The staff is always so friendly and helpful! They turned me on to sweet taro root bubble tea! Tastes like vanilla sugar cookie you can drink! Weeeeeeeee!

The tofu is very very sweet, which was a problem for a family member - a T1 diabetic. So they created a custom meal with all that she wanted and it was so tasty. They work with you if you have allergies or special dietary restrictions.

Interesting, unique, authentic menu items. Accommodating for large groups. Good wait staff. Fun decor in a cool neighborhood. We went with a big group. I was glad some of our friends had been there before because it seems like you kind of have to know your way around the menu to get the best experience. Our friends recommended mixing different sauces with different dishes. They also had us make a meal of appetizers and dumplings instead of ordering an entree. They do have interesting specials and drinks options too.

I got spicy wontons. They are by far the biggest tastiest wontons ever. My buddy got the duck soup you could basically eat it on a flip flop it's that good. Service was really good and the place was packed.

A friend and I went together after reading the glowing reviews. We ended up spending $50 for a meal that cost maybe $15 to make. We both left feeling annoyed and ripped-off. The servers were polite, but only seemed to be there as eye candy. The quality of the food was thoroughly mediocre. I've made better in my own kitchen. The bubble tea was good, although the tapioca pearls were stale and chewy.

I've been eating at Blue Koi for fourteen years and every trip is stellar. You MUST try the Tofu and Spicy Awesome Sauce because it's amazing. They have the softest boba in their bubble tea. Also, the Cantonese Roast Duck is fabulous. You can't go wrong!

I visit this place often. I usually go to the location in Kansas city. Since being introduced to it by a friend, I just find myself here more often than not. Great atmosphere. Great location. Great staff. The food though. Their food is soooooo delicious. If you go there, make sure to get the sauce. It's called Awesome Sauce.

Tried two kinds of dumplings, pork and spicy meat, and we enjoyed both. There was plenty of them to go around. We could have just had those for the meal and been satisfied. But we went further and had the duck wrap, which was ok but the duck was a little too gamey for my taste, but it was worth a try for something different. We also ordered a main dish to share of pot roast with house noodles. This could have served four people instead of just two. Huge portion. Pot roast was so tender, and noodles tasted homemade and really complimented the meaty dish. We walked away stuffed with great food along with lots of leftovers for later. Staff was really attentive and friendly. This was was a great place for dinner.

I ordered a meal that I did not like, thus I told my server in a polite manner. The owner came over to me and stated "that is not right and not how I should have handle things". I took 2 bites and I was made to pay for a meal in full. He made me feel very uncomfortable. I think restaurants should be open to feedback rather I was humiliated for my opinnion. We walked in and were seated right away. We ordered the pot sticker dumplings. The came out room temp. I ordered the roasted duck and my wife ordered the roast duck wrap. The duck was not fresh and the meals came out at room temp again. I do not know if one order was ready before the other but food should not come out of a kitchen at that temp. I was disappointed and I will never go there again. Customer service was ok.

My husband and I enjoy Blue Koi very much, it is one of our top five restaurants in the city. When I get a cold I pick up their wonderful dumpling and noodle soup. Everything they serve is so fresh. Our favorite dish is Almond Shrimp and Asparagus served over their white rice. And their Lettuce wraps are top notch.

a cousin of mine that had moved out of state came back into town and had made a reservation. Well, I decided to join him. For my first time here this place was fantastic! Service was fantastic and the food was even better.I ordered the Chinese Pot Roast with noodles and it was seriously amazing. Next time I’m going to try it with rice. This may have been my first time but it defines will not be my last! Also, I’m not sure how the owners are generating any profit, the portions sizes are incredible! Will be back in a few weeks for dinner.

Fantastic dumpling restaurant! Came in for the first time on a Monday night. No wait. Service was very friendly and nice. And the food... wow. One of the best meals I’ve ever had! Ordered the chicken dumplings and they were fabulous. Also ordered the special of the day. All that food was more than enough for two people. The decor is nice and there is generally street parking available in the surrounding areas around West 39th street. Must try! Prices were not bad either.

When I return from one of my trips I head for the Blue Koi! I was one of Scotts (and his sisters) first customers...em...maybe 15 years ago. I knew I had found a winner. I’ve had everything on the menu but my favorite, especially when I want a man size dish, I feast on the Pot Roast with noodles or rice with a broth. This place was a big disappointment. My husband and I ordered the Chili Pepper Wontons and Firebird chicken to share. The wonton sauce was very heavy on the rice vinegar. I like vinegar a lot, but it really needed more sweetness to balance the dish because the acidity was overwhelming everything. The Firebird tasted only of shrimp paste (or something similar) and the sauce on it had a grainy texture, like someone put too much of a granulated spice in it. Both dishes were heavy-handed and lacking balance. I hope this was more of a hired help issue than a a recipe one. There was no one from the family working when I visited, and so it's possible that the dishes were not made true to recipe, which is really too bad. The hot tea, however, was a bright spot, and the waitress was a delight.

Very disappointed in my last visit here honestly will never go back noodles were great but my fried dumplings were very under cooked and not so fried. When I called to let them no that I was dissatisfied the owner had me send a picture to him and turned around and said that is what the fried dumplings were supposed to look like. It made me feel like I had inconvenienced them instead of it being the other way around.

My wife and I went to Blue Koi last Friday night for dinner. We were able to walk right in and be seated, no waiting. The staff that greeted us were very friendly. Our waitress very helpful and was very patient with us, being our first time. We started with an appetizer of chili pepper wontons with meat, highly recommend, they were really good. My wife ordered the black bean chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommend. I ordered the Shanghai wonton noodle soup with meat. The wontons were good but the noodles and broth had very little flavor but still good overall. My wife ordered a mango bubble tea just to try, definitely a fun treat. The restaurant itself was clean and orderly. The price for the food was on the higher side, about fifteen dollars per entree, nine dollars for the appetizer and four dollars for the bubble tea. More expensive than our local Chinese buffet but the quality of food is much higher than the local Chinese buffet. Placing Blue Koi in the special date night category for us. The major downside is having to deal with downtown traffic and parking. We circled the area a few times trying to find a parking spot.

The shrimp dumplings here are out of this world. I just thought the portions were quite big (share with a partner if you know you don't eat big portions) and the prices were pretty expensive too so definitely recommend sharing and getting one appetizer! They should also provide more vegetarian options. Note you will have to ay extra for noodles if you want a noodle dish and pay extra for shrimp too if you want those. Other than that, food was pretty good!

Don't miss the perfectly fried tofu with 'awesome sauce' to start. The pot roast with noodles is always delicious. Our server, Erica, was perfect.

The dumplings are tasty and authentic! The other dishes we tried were good too, but not spectacular. Service was great. They have a large selection of boba teas. The ginger basil chicken could use more basil but overall the dish was good. Ants On A Tree was really good and something new. We'll be back!

So so so good! Affordable options, everything on the menu looked good. My boyfriend and I tried the pork dumplings and the shrimp dumplings and will definitely be back for more. Next time I’ll try the veggie dumplings :)
