REVIEWS OF Arthur Bryant's Barbeque IN Kansas

Travis Hawkins

Pure classic KC BBQ. This place has the history to backup their amazing meat, wonderful sauces, and efficient service. Hope their is a line when you get here and see how the locals work through the process and learn. It's a great setup for getting everyone the beautiful wood smoked meat that they came here for. I always taste the meat before adding sauce and the meat here can totally stand on it's own. The sauces range from original which does have some spice but also a nice vinegar bite to a sweet heat and a bold type flavor that were both thicker and sweeter. Just use the thinness of the original as an excuse to dump more on, it's so good. I tried them all but the original was my favorite.

Janelle Hawkins

The line was out the door but worth the wait. My husband is still shaking his head about the original sauce.... In a good way

Sonia Saldivar

Greeted by "what you want?" Filthy kitchen and cutting areas. Food slicers packed with old food. Flies.

Kylee Lyon

The sausage was the best meat. The turkey came in at a second best. The baked beans were amazing! Onion rings and fries were also good, coleslaw was just okay for us (almost like soup). Pretty fast service. Pretty clean. We would definitely eat here regularly if we lived in the area!

Mike Mininni

Nothing was bad, nothing was great. Definitely did not stand up to the hype. Will be glad to get back to Texas for some real BBQ.

Kelli Wheeles

Love the BBQ at this location. I start work between 5:30-6:00am so it’s nice to have a place for lunch at 10:00. Portions are large, the fries and onion rings are delicious. I always enjoy turkey sandwich. My friend had the burnt ends and was disappointed they were shredded. The cooks preparing your food are personable. Ive never had bad service. Eclectic crowd. They also have take out. It’s in a historic area, if you have time check out the museums near by.

Jackie Simpson

Excellent food and great customer service. Love this place

Mike Fitzgibbons

The best KC BBQ in town, not the fanciest restaurant just the best. It's definitely a must for out of towners.

Arturo Gonzalez

Okay not worth the hype if you aren't a local be careful they serve you the leftovers if it's your 1st time. The burnt ends were very dried.

Lawrence Steiner

Best Barbecue in Kansas City and I’ve tried many. This is where all the Presidential candidates eat!

Janice Swygert

You know its gonna be good when you walk in a "whole in the wall" establishment. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and ate it with the sweet and spicy bbq sauce. My son had the chicken strips kids meal. A must do while in Kansas City.

Caroline Abner

Absolutely delicious, you will never want anything less ever again. The workers are courteous but timely. The establishment is a little rough, but if you ask me that's what makes it so much better. Portions are huge. Definitely a must when in Kansas City.

L Minault

Nasty, and overrated. We drove from Texas to see the K- State game and everyone said go to Arthur Bryant's. How are you going to open at 11am and we get there at 11:15am and the food is cold, and you dont have sausages. The Cole slaw was good to me, however too runny for my other family members. The hot sauce is basically Louisiana hot sauce mixed with bbq sauce. Texas bbq run we use is way better.

Brian Feld

So Much Food, and so good. No wonder Obama went to visit the place. He must have been hungry during a rally in KC and what better place to kill hunger than a bbq place like this.

corey thompson

Best brisket I have ever had! Definetly worth the wait

Clayton C Troia

Called ahead and asked if they could handle a group of 17 people coming in at a 7:30. They said that wasn’t a problem. We came in and the only thing they had left was pulled pork. By the time one of our group went to order they had completely run out of food 45 minutes before they closed. Food was good but I’m upset that they told me they could handle the group when clearly they could not .

What a great historical place to eat. I've been here numerous times but it's been a few years. Everything I've ever had here is great. Today I tried the burnt end sandwich and man was it ever great. Moist and tender beef with a great sauce already on it. The 3 sauces at the table were all great, I enjoyed mixing in bites of each.

Sierra Hunter

Good bbq! They give huge portions for the price. I love the skinned fries! And the beef melts in your mouth. I guess I'll feed the ducks with all the bread they gave me.

Shirley Gunn

Been trying to get here for some time. This sandwich is finger licking Good. The fries were still hot when i got home got comfortable and got happy with my Arthur Bryants Barbeque sandmich) 3 thumbs ☝

David Simpson

Ribs were great. Prices were good. Service a bit gruff. Interior a bit dated.

Josh Wilhite

- The food was just delicious. - The building has great tradition. - The staff was accommodating.

gamecomic40

I wish it lived up to the hype I went there, and I love brisket but ended up taking 2 bites and wanted to spit it out but didn't. I then ate the rest of my meal, the pulled pork was better ,and I enjoyed it. The fries are unsalted but made by hand and good. Atmosphere was in welcoming they had half the tables "out for cleaning" and like 4 workers swarmed you to go find a new seat.

Tammy McDonald

Delicious, traditional Kansas City BBQ! It was so cool to see so many pictures of famous folks eating Arthur Bryant's BBQ. I had a pulled pork sandwich, and potato casserole. Amazing! My husband had the brisket and it was incredible too. We will come back every time we visit Kansas City!

Sri Charan

It was a “wow” experience, pulled pork sandwich was the best . The original Barbeque sauce had a spicy flavor which is unique, one of the must try bbq’s in kansas city , Mo.

corey p

Very good BBQ, fries were cold but its worth it. Its a stop I always make when in KC. I am never let down.

Steve Hoog

Either 80 or 110 years in business, depending on what original point you choose, and it's still the best. Just to show my snobbish side though...Baby back ribs are not real ribs. Got the spare ribs --the slabs. And pulled pork is an insult to KC barbecue. They have both, and they're great, but seriously... Brisket. Fries. Beans. You can't go wrong at Bryant's, no matter what. The original location on 18th and Brooklyn is far superior to the racetrack location. It's called atmosphere, and history.

Andrew Dodge

We were passing through Kansas City and wanted to try something local that was good. We googled popular places in KC and this one was listed along with others from a Food Network TV article. I read the reviews and decided to try it out. We had been driving for a few hours so we used the restrooms first and I'll tell you not to judge the food by the restrooms like I almost always do. I just think if the restrooms are sketchy then how is the food handling going to be any better. Nonetheless, after nearly slipping and sliding on the old school bathroom floors we ordered a BBQ Brisket Burnt End Sandwich and split it between my wife and I since it was a lot of food for one person. The Burnt ends were very satisfying, Onion rings were very good. Being from Arizona we like ranch dressing on our Onion Rings and they didn't have any. The BBQ sauces were good. They had three to choose from. The service was good even though some of the people working there didn't look too thrilled to be there but they did the job well and were polite. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant was probably 7 out of 10, 10 being Best. But I threw all that out the window since the food was good and we said a prayer on it. :)

denzeldon2007

I am not a native Kansas Citian, but AB's has been my favorite KC BBQ spot for years. I love the seasoning and how they smoke the meats. My wife usually gets the sausage, but they were out so she got turkey and was more than pleased. Not too crazy about the BBQ sauces, but good BBQ don't need to be drowned in sauce.

kurt douglas

Had burnt ends sandwich. Meat was chewy. Flavor was good though.

James Thomas

Arthur Bryant's is the cradle of Kansas City Barbeque. Their "low and slow" cooking method is evident in all of the meats. I am partial to the ribs which were moist and meaty. My sister had the brisket it was juicy and tender. The sauces are good, but not required to experience pit nirvana.

Stephanie Yerger

Best ribs hands down. And neat original atmosphere

Monica Lopez

I think I may have enjoyed the food if the service guys weren't so rude. It was my first time there and I will never return. I ordered something and when I got to the counter the gentleman, who by the way don't take my order, argued with me about what I ordered. Then yelled at the lady behind me when she asked for her beans. He tried to tell her she didn't order any.

Sonya Walker

Great Bar-b-que all the way from CHICAGO go ever time I'm down there

Deano McComas

Well, hate to be the bearer of OK news, but this place could have been better. Great joint if you're looking for a nostalgic old fashioned bbq joint. The sauces are a little strange tasting, and my ribs were overcooked (no tug). Briskit good portions large (tub of tasty fries for $1.90). They may want to clean the meat slicer occasionally too. If craving the best ribs though, go to Joe's .

Christ Jazmin

Best restaurant in the city I have ever visited. Nice ambiance and super fun atmosphere - check out their happy hour food specials!

Allen Mclain

Food is great but it's not worth the high prices when you consider the noisy atmosphere, unfriendly employees, dirty bathrooms, and rundown building. KC has lots of other great BBQ places - avoid this one.

Nathan Green

Food was good and the portions were huge and felt like you had plenty of food for what you pay for. I was a little concerned with the cleanliness in the kitchen as well as the eating area, but nobody in our large group ended up sick so all is well. I do understand that it's hard to do BBQ clean but I have seen it done cleaner.

Kim Shelton

Two car groups drove from Lavovia, Georgia through Kansas City to Winner, South Dakota to help the Lakota Sioux people. When returning back home we came and grabbed the BEST BBQ I have had in decades!!! We actually came in during their sweet spot; at least as far as a tired and hungry group of 10 travelers was concerned (right before their dinner rush!) They kept us engaged and happy! We had another hour to go to get to our rooms for the night. Let's just say that I didn't eat it all because i was way to sleepy; but it was DELICIOUS from the brisket to the ribs! If that's the last meat I EVER eat I am so glad our team captain chose you guys!!!

Catriese Johnson

This is my go to for Barbecue in Kansas! I order the combo, butt-end of the beef & sausage with a side of fries. It needs NO sauce! Whew! I've stood line for 90 minutes to satisfy the taste! Also, they now offer black boxes in which to place your food... I REQUESTED that they use the traditional paper wrapping. They obliged me.❤

Lakena Marsh

The atmosphere and experience as newbie's was great. They give you a lot of food. I didn't like the sauces all that well. I wish I had eaten the food without the sauce that I put on it. The meat was delicious!

Linda Beveridge

I had barbequed ribs, they were pretty dry, coleslaw was very good...had great service

Janelle Maher

Very simple place- but good food. It was really interesting seeing all the photos of celebrities who’ve eaten there over the years. Portions are huge so plan accordingly.

Thomas Heckman

Not worth the hype. Sure presidents went here, but that doesn't mean it's good. The staff was un-attentive when placing my order, had to give it 3 times for them to remember. All the tables were sopping wet from being cleaned. I ordered a half rack of St Louis cut ribs and baked beans. The ribs still had the membrane on the underside (which couldn't be chewed) and there was little or no seasoning on the ribs them self. The beans were on the sweeter side. I'd recommend to skip this spot and go to Joe's if you want real good BBQ.

Alan Wolff

On the way back from attending the wedding of my Niece in Ft Worth, TX March 2016 stopped in here. Although I got two extra bones of pork rib, [compared to the other BBQ place (Gates) I stopped at on the way down to Ft. Worth!!!] found that the pork was of a lesser quality! WAY too much fat on the bone! Had to manipulate around the fat [with my tongue] just to get to the underlying meat. Stopping at both of these BBQ joints was the fulfilling 25 year Bucket List. Only one was worth the stop! I know this is the ONE BBQ joint in KC,KS for ALL political candidates stop at, BUT! Many other BBQ in Kansas City, KS to select from, suggest you go to one of those others! You may be much happier!

Lindsay Kovar

I really liked the turkey sandwich and potato casserole. My husband liked their sausage and pulled pork but wasn’t crazy about the brisket. The people working seemed more interested in getting us through the line although we didn’t notice that as much with the locals. I will say that they are very generous with the portions.

Annette Woodard

The place was not clean and the counter had french fries everywhere, it was greasy, the workers were not polite, no hair nets, the rib tips were dry, the onion rings were burned and hard, fire trap because customers are lined in front of the only door in the place.

Wayne Jones

Fine tater casserole. Generous portions. Easy parking Speedy service.

Scott Roth

I am gonna tell you this very simply, "GO THERE!". Just watching them serve the food is amazing. I had a full slab of ribs and it was heaven on Earth. I don't want to die...I want more of their ribs! Great rub and 3 sauce choices. The fries, pickles, and slaw is yummy. Totally walked away wanting a nap. Just go. Don't take my word for it. You need to go.

A Prayingwife4Life

I can see why folks come early! ! My family and I came around 1030, close to 11am and by the time we got up to the counter to place our order, the line was out the door! The food is great , staff pleasant and it's all worth the wait!

Ethan Stewmon

The food was great and well worth the wait. The line was backed up behind the door by the time I got to where I could order. Ingot the brisket sandwich and had no clue how massive it would be. You get a lot of food for proces that are reasonable given the quantity and quality.

Ashleigh Hayes

You know...all the BBQ I hand in that city was meh including this landmark. Wonderful staff! Excellent staff! But bbq didn't blow me away.

Jamie Whiteley

Best BBQ I've ever had. Staff is a bit impatient...but who cares? Food is too good .

Jason Wright

The best barbeque I have ever had. I plan to come back soon for more great food.

Joseph Christian

Great, always great. One of the best in the world. Have to get back more often.

Chris Salva

Fast service. Meats are well prepared, smoked and served either dry or sopping in Bryant's excellent sauces. Their downtown KC location ran out of ribs so we ran to this location!

David Logan

Incredibly good food. I still say the best in our city of great barbeque options

Fostermom Dukes

Not a good day at Arthur Bryant today. I've been waiting on a half slab for about 30 mins now. The slicer was really nice about letting know I had a wait but I didn't think it would talk this long. I asked about my ribs and he stated that he had to wait for the manager and she would be right out. She have not showed up. This is not acceptable in a business... 6/19/2019 @4pm. And I'm still here

Laura Remy

Love Arthur Bryant's and took a group of friends for lunch who had not been before. A couple ordered ribs same as me. They smelled delicious but were overcooked, dry, crunchy and barely had any meat once the crunchy part was peeled back. No I didn't complain. This is not the first time, but I thought it was an evening thing due to sitting all day and drying out. Now I know. Apparently it is intentional. Each to his own. Doesn't appeal to me. I'll order other items from now on because I do love Arthur Bryant's.

Dwayne White

Great BBQ spot. The brisket was tender, juicy and delicious. The baked beans were awesome. The Sweet Potato Casserole was like no other. I will definitely be back.

Jason McGillivray

First time eating at Arthur Bryant's and it was awesome food! I enjoyed the atmosphere, nothing fancy. Very friendly staff!

Richard Syracuse

Was recommended this place while driving through. From someone who used to live in the area. My gosh it was so good. The portion sizes are amazing for the money. At least 2 meals from each sandwich. The sauces weere all awesome but I really enjoyed the classic with it's little kick. Fries were great and I left really full. I'd totally be back if I lived around here.

Grace Crowner

The food in this place is very very good. You get plenty and the taste is wonderful. The line was out the door when I was there but the customers didn't mind. This was a good choice. I think they are do for a little upgrade.

Ken Flappan

Just being there for the history. By far the best Bryants. If your going to Bryants has to be this once. It's fantastic.

Chris Cheng

Ordered baby back ribs and pint of beans. Ribs were dry and tough to remove from bone. And the beans, while having plenty of meat, smelled like a combination of Vietnamese fish sauce and hot steamy garbage. I don't know how else to explain the smell. It's funky. I took the beans for take out and am considering throwing it away.

Alex Scott

Mother.....!!!! It's been too long.... And I have had my faith restored. My BBQ radar has been re adjusted. Get the combo, sliced pork and sliced brisket with fries. It's $14. And you can NOT eat it all. It's is amazing. You will be happy.

Becky Mitchell

As usual great bbq. Love this place. Workers are fun, too!

Emily Philpot

No idea why it took me so long to get to Arthur Bryant's. The (3!) sauce options are the best in town, they are thoughtfully curated, seasoned well outside the normal brown sugar or vinegar options. The environment is very causal, but family friendly. The potato salad was perfect, not over done, just classic flavors. The ribs were arguably my favorite of any BBQ joint. My nephew for the pulled pork sandwhich, and while comical to watch him eat probably not something I would order due to the sheer volume and messiness- but that's definitely a "shtick" so no harm no foul.

Stefani Hambelton

The best. Hands down. K.C. bbQ at it's finest. Best service, the best grub wrapped in paper. Been eating here for year's

Michael Coleman

Food was tasty, the line was alittle long,I would be concerned for the elderly, but good fast service overall

Brian Cole

We had a little bit of everything. Great food, it all was Delicious. Great crew running the place. Pit Master must be a Pro. Excellent Experience.

Alma Cabezas

Delicious food a amazing peopel that work her is just same you don't even think or ask ef you go or not you got to go no ? About

Charles VanWinkle

Visited for lunch on my dedicated BBQ only day while visiting KC. I ordered the sandwich with burnt ends and brisket on the same sandwich! Comes without sauce but the Arthur Bryant Original Sauce at the table sent it to the next level! Next time I will just get the sandwich. Adding fries (although they were excellent!) was too much food. If you are in KC and live BBQ you have to stop here!

Lorie Blackburn

My family loves Arthur Bryant's went to the original Arthur Bryant's in Kansas City and as you guys know this isn't a store at the barbecue place staff very pleasant and very helpful plenty of wonderful barbecue feel like your barbecue a little spicy Arthur Bryant's has the place to go ribs off the chain do yourself a favor stop by and check it out when you're in Kansas City area!

Jesus Madera

Oh My Goodness! Delicious BBQ! So much Delicious Food! Best BBQ I have ever had. Brisket, pulled pork, Turkey and the beans Soooo Goood! Historic Place. YUMMY! Definitely coming back!

C Mad

Food is okay, the restaurant is a dirty pit. This place has been a dirty pit since the very first time I went in the 90s. There is a lot better bbq and cleaner place to eat in KC metro.

Ashley Sharp

If your from out of town and have been told to come her please don’t it was absolutely terrible the food was cold and the barbecue sauce taste like vinegar. This is the absolute worst bbq place I’ve ever ate. Go to Kansas City joes instead.

maria angulo

Their burnt ends and sausage are good, but if you haven't tried their turkey sandwich, you're missing out! The portions are huge, their menu reasonably priced, and they have a good selection of bbq sauces. The place is busy, but the line moves quite fast. Tables are usually available as most people order take out.

Brenda Mcreynolds

Always worth stopping by when in town. Nothing fancy and you better be ready to give your order fast but it's worth.

Kasey Goodyear

I had to because my friend insisted it's the best. Although I wasn't personally fond of the extra sauces, I did like the basic recipe, and the meat was PERFECT! great atmosphere! Authentic:)

Felix Bleyenberg

Good big beef sandwiches. Other BBQ items are also very good. All sandwiches are pretty big.

ThisNThat

Small, crowded. You come here for anything other than great BBQ, you made a mistake. The crew is fast and on point. Got the brisket. I was not disappointed. Prices are more than reasonable. I've read some reviews about the staff not being friendly. My impression of this crew was they wanted you to get you your BBQ. They did it with flying colors. Glad this place is here.

Consuela Edwards

The Combo sandwich is a winner! Great tasting food. You definitely get your monies worth! My sister and I shared the Combo sandwich and fries and still had food leftover and I was Hangry!!

Sean Brozak

This place is so amazing. The staff is different then what you would expect but they all bust their butts and get people through the line fast. This is a must stop BBQ destination and blows all the places away up in omaha NE.

Patricia Pettz

Best BBQ, ever! Fast friendly service. Large portions. Great big parking lot. BBQ bottles, could be cleaned up. The BBQ squirt bottles are a better option.

Kristy Wipperman

We were lucky to run across this classic staple in KC barbecue. The line was out the door. The wait was over an hour. The walls are lined with pictures of stars( and a president) who have visited. Every one enjoyed their food: it was worth the wait. Loved the Rich and Sassy sauce.

Michael Littman

Still the best BBQ pork ribs in America. The sauces are quite distinct but served in squeeze bottles on the tables so you can taste the ribs in all their lusciousness. This is a small, family owned, minority business that employs neighborhood folks. That is something I support with my patronage by visiting over and over again from South Florida.

Jeremy Smith

OMG my new favorite bbq place! This place was amazing and the food was fast and delicious! I recommend this place to everybody!

Dan Kelleher

Good place for barbecue. As chill as barbecue should be. Plenty of parking.

levi Watson

This place! The burnt ends are amazing. I have eaten a lot of barbecue and these have definitely taken the top spot. The original sauce is absolutely amazing. I should have tried the others but I couldn't bring myself to stop using the original. It is a must if you are close the Kansas city. We drove 3 hours across Missouri on our way down to Texas just to eat there. The verdict is that it's worth the drive. One piece of advice. If you get it to go, one sandwich is enough for two.

Edward So

Arthur Bryant's BBQ is one of the crown jewels in this BBQ mecca. The short end pork ribs are tender and smoky. The meat is soft and the smoke ring is definitely there. The secret is probably in the sauce. At the table, there are three sauce dispensers - original, sweet, and spicy. The original sauce is slightly gritty, which is nice, and rather savory and tangy.

Diana Mahoney

This was the left over half of the 18th & Vine - pulled pork sandwich. Baby back ribs have a great smoky flavor. Love their sweet heat bbq sauce. Need to eat early if you want brisquit or burnt ends.

Shawn Daniels

Only been a few times but each time has been fabulous. Food and service is what I expect from an old great BBQ establishment. Pulled pork is so good I just eat it with a fork. No complaints other than I wish the location was closer to my home so I can visit more often.

Jesse Montoya

The best I've ever had!! You get more food than you can eat!

David Dale

Top notch bbq. Might be the best bbq in kcmo. Expensive but totally worth it.

Br. Parker Jordan

Legendary. Mouthwatering. The building could do with a facelift, but that's what makes this place. Best ribs I've ever had.

Nick Hawley

Visiting with my dad was a great experience. The full rack of ribs was world class. . . Perfectly cooked and literally no fat. The burnt ends were also spectacular. You could taste the smoke perfectly on both. We loved the potato salad and our favorite sauce was the sweet heat. The brisket was just ok. Service was great as well, definitely highly recommend.

Patrick Wong

The combo two meat sandwiches are the size of a human face and is only one of many delicious choices at one of the best KC area great classic hometown BBQ places!

Doc Molstad

It was BBQ. They do a good job with it. I was told that it was "the" place to go. Staff is a bit impatient when taking orders. I get it, you have a line... Noisy kitchen, so I think that was why people don't hear the command to place their order. Now that I've had the experience, I don't need to return.

Stephen Cross

Are you kidding me this is the best Bbq anywhere. The staff is so rude but isn’t part of the experience. It’s a must stop on any road trip

Patrick Voncannon

This was place was simply awful. Everything was bad, it’s that simple. Staff was rude, place is filthy, food is horrible, no flavor. What am I missing?

Cameron Dole

Incredible for it's price point. Will be back. Glad to experience KC history.

Blake Williams

Fabulous, as always. Beef sandwich and fries. There may be better Q, but all BBQ in KC is built on the shoulders of Arthur Bryant's.

George Vlahakis

If you've never been to Kansas City go here. The spare ribs were decent. not sure if the food could ever live up to the hike, but it was very good.

Brian Carnahan

The atmosphere and service were excellent. Reminded so much of the older BBQ restaurants I used to go to. The food was fantastic and more than I could eat. If I was here longer, I would definitely be going back for another meal.

Janet Monroe

Great ribs and sausage. Get there early before they run out of items. It does get a little crowded.

Juli Copple

The best bbq in America. If you are in Kc you have to try it.

Glendal Mitchell

Ribs were great, so were the burnt ends. Atmosphere was cool. I'll return

Celeste Lupercio

Arthur Bryant's is one of the standards you must have when you go to KC. Their brisket is my favorite. I don't like that their burnt ends come smothered in sauce. I'm also not a fan of their sauce but anyone from KC will tell you they have a preference and this one's just not mine. But it's one of the best in KC if you look at the overall numbers.

Holli Davila

Arthur Bryant's seems like a Kansas City staple. The sandwiches are HUGE. I ordered the combo sandwich with sausage and brisket. The brisket was very good (and that's quite a compliment from this Texan) and the sausage was very uniquely sliced ultra thin. I couldn't finish it all! But don't worry, I took it home for later. And, I topped it off with some good sweet tea!

Elmer Jackson

Great as ever. You get a great size portion for what you pay for. All great and tender, as usual.

Don Cain

Had the Burnt Ends and Brisketsandwich and some fries. Meat was not overly sauced so you could dress it as you preferred. Cooked well and a nice amount of smoke. Exactly what down home cooking is all about. Service was excellent as well. Will def be back next time we are in town.

Jed Ayers

I'm only writing this review to be consistent and fair as I am in all reviews. Arthur Bryant's BBQ does not need a review from me. If you have found this on Maps or on Brooklyn ave, then you already know where to eat. Go there eat anything or everything in the menu and you will come to the same conclusion, THIS IS BARBECUE as it should be. Absolutely the, by a long shot, BEST BBQ I have ever had. Thank you to Arthur Bryant's for their long tradition of excellent food that bring people of all walks of life together to enjoy some good eats. Thank you.

Adam Michael Moceri

It was just okay. Little customer service help at the counter if you aren't familiar with items to order. They still didn't give me what I ordered once I decided. Probably better to order the sandwiches vs meat by the pound. I ordered a half pound but swrved me a full, and skipped my side request. You have to pay for onions! No air conditioning makes you want to eat quickly and leave.

Shahida Birkhead

Hands down the best bbq I have ever had.

Robert Coleman

Ordered the burnt ends open faced sandwich, fries and 3B sandwich. The sauce they put on the burnt ends tasted terrible, fries were greasy. Took the food to the cashier and complained and all he would do is refund on the open faced sandwich. (all we took was one bite of it) We took the meat from the 3B sandwich to feed our dogs and they would not even eat it. And you all know how a good smoked sandwich smells well my dogs never would go anywhere near it. Don't waste your time here! Next trip up from Tulsa I'll just go to Jack Stack.

Jonas Cafferty

Obviously very historical and authentic, but not my favorite barbecue stop in KC. The sauce is quite a bit different than other restaurants in the area. Seems to be one of those situations where you either love it or hate it. Unfortunately I can’t say I fall into the “I love it camp.” Despite not being my favorite food, it still makes for a very unique experience and the portions are outstanding. Could be worth a shot for the experience alone.

Shelley Plunkett

We just had to try this world famous BBQ! It is said that Arthur Bryant is the legendary King of Ribs. He created a sauce that has attracted former Presidents Harry Truman, Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama to his restaurant. The floor was sticky and slippery. We paused to look at the menu and to figure out how the ordering process worked. They impatiently rushed us, and then they did not get our order correct. Next time we will go to Q39 BBQ. Our personal opinion: Good, but not great.

Stephanie Goeden

We went out of our way through kansas city to get some BBQ on our way back home and we were not disappointed!!! The BBQ here was great!!! Staff was very polite and we will be back again!

Alex Fingeroot

Tons and tons of food for a good price. I've never had a larger brisket sandwich in my life. The beef was phenomenal. It had just the right amount of fat and a great smoky flavor. The sauce was not my favorite in the world, but it was definitely good. I especially liked the spicier sauce.

Kapri Walker

Amazing!!! Great barbeque...sauce is kinda gross but the meat is cooked and flavored so well that you don't need it!

Dallin Bytheway

The one and only, a timeless KC spot. Some may have different opinions, but I think this place is great. Yeah, the part of town isn't necessarily the Ritz, but I find that to be part of the experience. The meat, while isn't the best ice had, is fantastic considering the price. The sauce is delicious, Rich and Spicy is my personal preference. I'd say if you're on a budget, consider Mr. Bryant, you're bound to find a deal that works for you.

Brenda Martinez

Probably my favorite BBQ place for sandwiches! They pile the meat so high, I can eat on it for 2 or 3 days. Definitely worth the price. Delicious too!!

The line was out the door but it moves quickly. The food was great and the selection of sauces were good. I highly recommend coming here before or after you visit the Negro League Baseball Museum.

The 3 B sandwich was amazing. The burnt ends just melt in your mouth. Honestly, didn't need any bbq sauce but the sauce was too good not to put on the sandwich. 10/10 will have to go back

My friend was visiting for the weekend so we decided to hit a couple BBQ restaurants in Kansas City. A quick Google search had Arthur Bryant's consistently in the top 10, so we went and were not disappointed. I ordered the half chicken and it was amazing! (He had the burnt ends, also delicious) Not a single dry bite, skin was crispy, but not burnt. Good flavor, hardly needed BBQ sauce. Definitely a spot I would recommend and will be returning too.

Manuel Amaya

Great food! Lady at register was rude as hell though. But the barbecue makes up for it I guess... .

Mike Freeland

After tasting some amazing bbq over the years I was blown away by how amazing it was here. Rated #1 on a few lists I saw and it's clear to see why after eating. Wish I lived closer!

Stephen Girgis

Excellent BBQ. Huge portions. Fantastic sauce.

Tim Whitley

Pro tip: If you’re really hungry or just want to split a meal, order the combo. It’s enormous and you have your pick of 2 proteins. For a couple bucks more, it’s well worth it. While a bit of a hole in the wall, this place is a must for anyone exploring the KC Barbecue scene. It makes any list of the best of KC and its reputation is well deserved. Check out some great photos of past presidents who visited while you’re there.

This the one of the original Barbecue places in KC. It is very good and has the traditional southern vinegar tang in their sauces. The food was good and if I ever get back, I would try a whole plate of food. We stopped here on a Barbecue tour and had a small sampling of what they had. Ribs, sausage, and coleslaw. It was very good and made me want more!

Nancy Minnick

Delicious KC BBQ! Casual, neighborhood place. I had the baby back ribs and my husband had the burnt ends with fries. They also serve beer in frosty mugs. Buffet style and you may have a wait but well worth it.

D L Johnson

How can anyone like the sauce? Tastes like seasoning salt mixed with water. No sauce should stain your fingers yellow.

Eric Pflanz

Took a bit longer than normal this time but dang if they dont make it up with the ridiculous sandwiches. Anyone teading this just go and be surprised

As someone from STL, my expectations were high but I was terribly disappointed. Place was filthy, bugs crawling on the ceiling, dirty tables and food all over the floor. Meat was good, but the sauces provided are weird and not tasty in the slightest(how can you be a bbq place with terrible sauce). The staff was extremely rude and unprofessional, one worker almost started a fight with a customer because he didn’t move down the line because the process of ordering was confusing. The worst part is my girlfriend and I minutes after leaving felt sick to our stomachs. Our whole day of visiting KC was ruined from such a terrible experience here, that we left to go home cause of our sickness

This place was the coolest! I really love the feel and the style of ordering. You go up to your window and tell them what you want and then go down to the end of the counter to pay. Everything comes with bread and pickles best smoked meat I’ve had in quite a long time. Must try the sausage as it’s not a traditional sausage in the casing they make it into a large loaf and then smoke it and slice it then it’s very unique and delicious!

Delicious Barbeque! I'm from out of town and was told to try this place. Very casual place to have a great meal. It's simple: wait in line, order, and EAT! My favorite was the burnt ends sandwich (aka the 3B sandwich). It just falls apart in your mouth! Don't forget to add some of their famous bbq sauce. My favorite is the Sweet Heat (even though I don't taste the heat). The pulled pork sandwich (aka 18th and Vine) was also VERY good!!!

Eric Moore

Large portions. Fast service. Truely enjoyed it

Jake Grieco

Out of the ribs and the pulled pork (the 2 things we wanted of course!) so we got the baby back ribs and brisket which were both really good. The sauce was really good too!

Paul Fletcher

Fast pace and you better speak up when ordering cause its loud. Great bbq one of my favorites

Penelope Skinner

For me, this place deserves 5 stars.!! Authentic food, cosy place, friendly environment and courteous staff. Overall experience was wonderful.

Jeff Cummins

Food is excellent! Line is long but moves fast. Couldn't give 5 stars though since they keep it about 60 degrees inside and won't raise it...

Kim B

I wasn't sure whether to give 3 or 4 stars, but I decided on 4 because the main thing--barbecue--is fantastic. The sauce is thick, slightly sweet, and totally delicious. I scraped my plate because I hated to waste any! However, the restaurant was pretty greasy with lots of flies, and the service wasn't very friendly. I'd be willing to go back, but the restaurant itself doesn't measure up to the food.

John Rau

Wildly good food! Reasonably priced, and a famous landmark in Kansas City! Can't wait to come back! The baked beans were amazing, too.

Kerry Syracuse

Stopped on our way through town at recommendation from a friend who used to live here. Tasty BBQ, cash-only. Totally worth it! Large portions, good pricing

Wayne Johnson

Food and atmosphere were excellent, a must experience in Kansas City. We will definitely be returning

Andrew Werkmeister

Bbq was good and atmosphere was good priced right most expensive item was beer.

chris simmons

Cold brisket , hard ribs and Louisiana hot sauce as BBQ sauce

Ryan Little

decent food. nothing like people said it would be. too crowded.

MJ Pratt

I was really pleased with the food here, I just wish they had a sauce I liked better.

Patrick West

The BBQ here is always served in large portions and makes for an excellent example of what Kansas City BBQ is all about. The sides are also very tasty including the twice cooked fries. I use the BBQ sauce for dipping.

Jim Sommerhauser

Ordered the open-faced burnt end sandwich. I've had way better burnt ends at other places. They were fatty and had too much sauce, which I thought they would come sauce free.

amber lasiter

Definitely a must!!! Best barbecue I have ever ate! We love this place! When stop in every time my daughter plays ball in that area! Love it!

Roland Rau

Very tastee K. C. style with that vinegar tang. I had to do it once in a lifetime. Check!

Jessica Mix

Wow!!! I was told to go here by someone from home and was not disappointed AT ALL!! I was unsure about what to order so I ordered the combo (pulled pork and burnt ends) and a half rack of ribs. All I can say is you can't go wrong with anything. HANDS DOWN one of the best BBQ in KC!!

Brian Oosterwyk

Living in the name. Small selection, chewy meat (expected tender from such a legendary place), and if you don't like Heinz 57 sauce you won't like their BBQ sauce. I was warned but wanted to try for myself. Definitely too much like Heinz 57 for my taste, but others love that.

Alicia Miller

They have always had great BBQ. And KCMO is known for its bbq

Matt Alfieri

I eat A LOT of BBQ. And I've traveled around the country to taste different BBQ. Let's get that out of the way. First time I was here (two years ago), I rated this place as solid. Ok service, decent burnt ends, good pig on bun sandwich. Second time through, burnt ends were really moist, fries lacked flavor, and the pulled pork was runny. Also, I found the sweet tea to be average. And on top of it all, the service poor at both the counter and the checkout. With all the great places in KC, I will positively not be coming back here.

Brett R

If driving through a questionable neighborhood in a large city gives you uncontrollable anxiety, or you get downright offended by slightly abrasive customer service or a front counter girl with a full blown hickey on her neck, then I feel bad for you, because you will likely miss out on some of the best BBQ joints that Kansas City has to offer! Arthur Bryant's is nothing shy of just that, so if you fall into one of the previously mentioned categories, you might want to take a xanax and make an exception because I thoroughly enjoyed a brisket sandwich that was stacked about 3 1/2" thick and a huge pile of fresh cut French fries, all so delicious that I woke up from my food coma in a state of confusion an hour later, and I still had a smile on my face.
