Love the food, a perfect mix of Mongolian style barbeque, your basic American Chinese food staples, some phenomenally creative foods I've never seen elsewhere, (Their Chinese crab cakes are to die for) only draw backs are that the place can be so busy that staff have difficulty keeping it clean.

the food was okay. the variety is alright and the food is getting more oily for some dishes and dry for others. it’s uncomfortable to eat too because the waitress is always staring at us. about 10 minutes in the waitress gives us our bill and waits for it. we gave a tip and she took it right away as soon as we put it down and she continued to stare at us from where she was sitting. it was just uncomfortable, and she asked another customer that was by us why he eats so much, which i found rude.

It was good; a selection that appeased the family, fresh grilling options with recipes to help, and good buffet variety. The variety of food I tried tasted good. The kids were happy too. Our waitress made sure we had what we needed, drinks mainly, and pay at the table - no problems there. I was passing through on holiday and would stop and enjoy on other trips too.

I will not be returning! Dirty, needs maintenance in several areas such as a warped door to the women's restroom, updates also need to be done! Cleaning supplies sitting under sink where children can get to them!:(Friendly service though. Fish tank needs to be kept clean! Food appearance wasn't all that appealing and fresh, but a good variety! Needs a good overhaul!

This place is a rip off!!! They over charge and lie so much....the Sunday price says $12.50 and we were charged $14.50 they claim because they serve crab legs for mothers day BUT I have been there before and they always have crab legs!!! It was so gross and smelled like a dirty fish tank. I should have turned around when I saw the filthy water fountain in the front entry. It was covered with cobwebs like it hadn’t been cleaned for years and there was FOOD in the fountain! The floors were not clean, the table was sticky and the smell was nauseating. The chicken in every dish was rock hard and the lo mein noodles tasted rotten. I chocked down about 3 bites. My husband told the front lady we were unhappy with our food and she called the police because we didn’t want to pay. Let’s see if they take us to court!!!

Was very good BUT they serve Pork, and all.kimfs of strange food like schrimps which is full of toxins. I would not go there but you can only get what is clean surely like veggies and fruits. Check the kitchen if they don't serve blood(yuck) or such things as lots of egeen places do

Went in last night to treat myself to an end of the semester celebration. Food has always been hit or miss but last night was terrible. To start things off I was seated next to a family that halfway through the meal got sick all over the place. This alone caused me to loose my appetite. The food was cold, chewy, and overall poor. I have now been up for the past 4 hours sick as a dog from eating there. I will never go back and I suggest you stay away too.

I stpped by this place because it was close to my hotel on a long trip and I was Starving! It was busy so I figured that food should be rotating pretty consistently. NOTHING was fresh, EVERYTHING was bland, tasteless and not cooked correctly. Seafood was overcooked and meats were undercooked. And you would think for someone who hasnt eaten in 12 hours while on the road anything would taste good. Not the case here. Steer clear of this place. Complete disgrace.

I use to come here a lot when I was going to college. After last night, I will not be back. First off, our drinking cups were clearly dirty. Mine had what looked to be paint chips in it. My wife's, we still aren't sure. I put a picture with this review. Maybe milk? I told the waitress. All she could say was sorry. Not let me get you a new cup or we will take something off your bill. Next, the temperature of a lot of buffet items were off. The steak and the chicken were cold. The sushi was a bit warm. They were out of a lot of food items and didn't seem like then intended to replace them. The steak was mostly fat. The restaurant as a whole looks like it has gone down hill as well. Stuff is falling apart. Lots of things are coated in a layer of dirt and grease, including the soy sauce containers. Overall, I was very displeased with a restaurant that I use to enjoy.

Pretty good place to stop in at. I actually prefer the lunch selection over the dinner. Place is pretty slow from 1-3 but the food is usually fresh. Good rotations keeps it fresh. Bonus points for the actual grill inside that you can make your own meals from their grill bar.

Went 03/15/2019 got two adult buffets, went home saw they charged me 4 times, went back to complain and get my money back, instead I was told for the other person to pay me back for they couldn't give me my money back because they couldn't charge the other person. Basically they rather I (the customer) lose money than them. Never again.

Used to be a great place to eat, but has dramatically declined within the last year or so. The meat tasted dry, semi-warm and like it had been sitting out for hours. I honestly felt nervous about everything that I put on my plate. The whole restaurant seems extremely unclean...Tonight will probably be the last time I ever eat here again! Such a shame..used to be one of my top places to eat in Ames.

This place is really going down hill. The front fountains are not working. There is garbage everywhere in the fountain area. The front tanks for the lobsters are empty and gross looking. The big aquarium really needs to be cleaned. The bathroom was gross. This place is in serious need of a deep clean.

I was there a couple weeks ago but I felt like I needed to share. The food was alright, good variety but it was mostly warm. My biggest issue was when I went to wash my hands and one of the waitresses came in USED THE BATHROOM AND DID NOT WASH HER HANDS!!! I definitely wont be going back!

This place is absolutely disgusting! None of the food was even warm. They seriously need to up their game. They also might wamt to consider cleaning that nasty chest freezer by the sushi bar. Looks like that hasnt been cleaned in years. There are several layers of nasty crud stuck to it. I'm surpised they haven't been shut down by the health dept. If I could rate this 0 I would. I'm seriously considering calling the health dept. There were 2 of us that went and we both got sick later that day which is no surprise seeing as the food was cold.

I love going to Mongolian Buffet. Like everything, it is not always 100%. I have definitely had visits where if I didn't know any better I wouldn't have gone back. The food to me is always good though and I enjoy going and spending time with my friends there as we eat. The sushi is really good if you like sushi too. I am always weary of sushi at buffets but it so good. Me and my friend go mostly for the sushi!

I was looking for a buffet place on Google and this showed up. I did not look at reviews only noted 1 money sign and a 3 1/2 star review. Variety of food -- American and Chinese dishes. I'm not a person that likes to give damaging reviews but got to give 1 star. Food was warm. Much of the food looked good but was lacking flavor. Many of the foods tasted like lard. Banana cream pie looked good but was off putting after seeing way over riped bananas in the dish. I give props to the butter bread bun and broccoli salad which I found good. 2 guests with drinks came to $19.59 on a Saturday afternoon. Bathroom looked nasty. Spiderwebs and funky looking light switch. Cleanliness of bathroom shows quality of kitchen - I'm sure.

This place could be great but they seriously do not care about cleanliness whatsoever.

Food was good, not great. We were there in the middle of the afternoon, some buffet entrees were less than hot, and on the dry side. Service was very prompt and prices were reasonable. Overall not a bad experience but I'd hope that the food at dinnertime would be better and fresher.

I've had times that I've eaten here & it was good. However, the last time, the food was disappointing, it had been sitting out too long & tasted old & dried out. The waitress didn't refill our drinks & they brought the check after we'd been there for about 20 minutes. We would have stayed longer but it seemed like they were trying to rush us out.

My girlfriend and I went at 8:50pm and a lot of food was lukewarm and dry already and the egg rolls nearly made my girlfriend throw up because they were BAD. My girlfriend brought this to the waitress' attention and she said thanks for telling her and just walks off and brings us the ticket for our meal, which might I add was dinner price for pitiful food quality. During our visit we watched a lady covering the deserts for the next day with plastic wrap and holding each piece in her mouth. Definitely not worth the money spent there.

Literally the best Chinese buffet in Ames, because it's the only Chinese buffet in Ames... Not to knock on Mongolian Buffet, but it's your typical run of the mill Chinese buffet restaurant that is typically found in many Midwest cities/towns. As per usual, there is a bunch of different flavored chicken (that all tastes like orange chicken from Panda Express) and a "sushi bar" that serves unrefined maki rolls. The distinguishing feature of this buffet is the Mongolian grill. Typically, people like to fry noodles with their Mongolian grill mix, but I prefer getting fried rice and jazzing it up with a few ingredients from the Mongolian counter. This place is excellent for large parties and everyone will typically be able to find something that they enjoy eating. Prices are quite reasonable for a buffet and the service is normal Chinese restaurant quality.

Walking in, first you notice the broken signage and dirty windows. Then you see the fish pond with all the plastic floating in it and the broken railing that keeps your kids out of it. Greeted by half attentive staff, you get seated at a sticky table. To their credit, wiped down again after saying something. The food is mediocre at best. My 8yr old was able to identify several mistakes in the food labeling. The Mongolian grill side was just as disappointing as the buffet. The sauces were all mixed together and something just didnt taste right. The spicy oil was not hot. The garlic oil was not garlicky. But still, there was a fair amount of patrons in there. Definitely go to another buffet if that's what you're looking for. And huhot is way better on the grill side. I've been warned about getting double charged by locals, so I'm gonna watch my statement.

This place is disgusting! My husband and I have been to this place three times. Every time we have went we get sick before we can even leave the restaurant. Their ice cream machine has mold growing in it and my 2 year old niece almost ate some. That was the last straw! Nobody should eat here at all. Our last visit my husband had to struggle to not puke at the table. I wouldn’t even give it one star if I could.

Maybe this is just as off day (Sunday at noon) but even with the reasonably low expectation that buffets like this are quantity not quality, this is below average. Ah, well.
