The West Side Diner is one of the nicest, probably the best restaurant in Iowa that I've been to. The two best waitresses that I love are Sonya and Jessica. The food gets cooked and served quite fast and is very enjoyable. My favorite appetizers have to be the pickled chips and cheese balls. If you want to go to a place for the whole family with a wide selection the West Side Family Restaurant would be the place.

Wait staff is great and attentive, and the menu is pretty large. There is sure to be something for everyone! They have some pretty fantastic BBQ and the accompanying homemade sauces are pretty great too. Laura's pies are EXCELLENT! Do not leave without, at least, getting a slice to go. The decor could use some updating to fit the quality of the food and improve the ambience, but I find that the food and personable employees more than make up for that. If your looking for a great place in Grinnell, give West Side a try!

Went to this place not really knowing what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. Great service, even better food! Hardly any wait on the food and very clean restaurant. They have really cool old pictures all over the walls to look at, and an article describing the history of the restaurant. Very modern and cozy, would highly recommend this place. Amazing variety of drinks and food on the menu as well. The homemade soup was great!

What's for breakfast? Typical greeting from the friendly server who took our order. I had my usual breakfast order: dippy eggs (eggs over medium), hash browns, toast and sausage patties. You could get sausage links if you prefer. Coffee is just so-so, like most of the coffee served in Grinnell. Hash browns seemed like they were from a bag-so just average. Eggs and sausage were tasty.

Amazing food. Best pickle chips I ever had they were like the size of a toy monster truck tire! Pulled pork was good besides the huge chuncks of fat which is only why 4 stars but service was great and attended to the needs of my kids....extra napkins, moving stuff off the table, placing things where they couldn't reach. Def will be back.

Took a chance and stopped. Expected another small town diner experience which can either be very bad or very good. This one was great. Aesthetics were good. Clean and modern. Neat historic pics. Menu had lots of selections. Breakfast all day. Had the soup which was delicious as was my sandwich. Waiter was attentive and gracious. Wi-Fi available. Going to come back. Next time I will leave room for a piece of homemade pie.

This is a great place for breakfast. Offerings include Eggs Benedict, cinnamon roll French toast, and the salmon skillet which I ordered. Salmon filet with 2 eggs, hashbrowns and hollandaise sauce. It was really good and reasonably priced. Espresso and related drinks available, as are Bloody Marys for those of you who don't have to work after breakfast.

My wife asked for some whipped cream for my son's pancakes and this woman scoffed, snatched up his plate from the table, muttering all the way to the kitchen where we could hear her throw it down on the metal counter. Don't know what had her all riled up but we didn't deserve that.

Asked twice. Then when I Finally got it TO GO, they just handed it to me without mentioning it was not what I ordered (full rack of ribs) it was only 1/2. And those were tough. I put them in my oven on 250 for 2 hours and they were tender. Also, in all honesty, even tho they were tough, the ribs had excellent flavor. Kudos to the cook!

Very good food a little pricey but good food! We used to eat hear many times a month but when they started to charge extra for the salad bar. I was ok with a one time fee for the salad bar but now they are charging extra each time we get a few more pieces of lettuce this was to much for us! We do not mind spending more for a good stake witch they sure do have but not for a salad bar.

I don't know, I just know that I looked up at my dining companion and said "Wow, this is really good coffee!" and it is very rare to get such a great cup of coffee with breakfast at a place like this. Also worth noting-thin crispy bacon and homemade biscuits, add eggs and hello happy breakfast. Service was also good-friendly and attentive.
