A bit on the pricier side but the food is really delicious. We tried the rosemary & parmesan fries and the warm brussel sprout salad. I would never have guessed I'd love that salad so much. Seriously tasty. They have glueten-free options and vegetarian ones and they're happy to alter menu ideas to make them vegetarian (I did that with the salad!). Just make sure to call in your reservation ahead of time so you can enjoy your meal without any trouble!

Seasonal menu with gluten free and vegian options. Casual has a bistro feel. Little pricey but worth the cost everything was fresh and layers of flavor. We had the warm brussel sprout salad and roasted beet salad both very tasty. They give you these Itty bitty warm salted chocolate chip cookies at the end of the meal that are a bite of heaven.

After a couple of years of waiting I finally made my fist visit to Table 128. Often anticipating dining at a restaurant for that long I’m often disappointed. Table 128 did not disappoint. The ambiance and the service were top notch. Please keep in mind I was there for lunch and their lunch menu is like a who’s who of fine dining. I usually try and build suspense to the best item of the visit but the Salmon with israeil cous cous, peas, charred cabbage, crispy leeks, tamari & black garlic glaze was to good to wait this is one of the best dishes I've had in a long time and once again it was on the lunch menu! The salmon was cooked perfectly and the charred cabbage was genius. The flavor and the texture contrast has me wanting more. If I could have changed one thing it would have been more of that tamari & black garlic glaze it was so good. I was able to try both the brussel sprout and beet salads both a great starter. I mean the brussel sprout salad in a cover photo on their website. For desert I tried the sweet potato panna cotta with cinnamon toast crumble, goat cheese caramel, and pomegranate seeds. This and the salmon are both dishes I will remember for some time. Table 128 Bistro & Bar has made my current top five favorite restaurants in Iowa. Well done Table 128!

An outstanding place for dinner. I travel a lot for business and of the many places I've eaten, Table 128 is among my very favorites. The food is creatively prepared, beautiful in its presentation, and flat out delicious. The warm Brussel Sprouts salad is not to be missed! I highly recommend it if you find yourself in Des Moines.

A nice experience where the staff makes you feel important. While most of the food is quite good, the quantity is EXTREMELY small. I can easily get an appetizer, entry, dessert, and still be hungry, (price for 2 is over 100 dollars and that's really not acceptable to leave hungry multiple times)

We went here for a lunch meeting, and it was a nice quiet spot to have our discussion. I got the Curried Chicken sandwich, and it was very good. I had the cauliflower soup as well, and it was excellent. My only complaint is that it seemed a little pricey for what we got and I walked away just as hungry as when I walked in.

The nicest restaurant in West Des Moines, and one of my favorites. They keep the menu small because they carefully source ingredients and want to keep things high quality and fresh, which I really appreciate. I suppose you could complain about the high prices and be bitter, but why go to a fine dining restaurant if you aren't willing to pay a premium for excellent quality and service? I love the atmosphere and unique, thoughtful dishes. I've never had poor service here. I love this place for a special occasion because it feels so fancy and high end (because it is) yet doesn't feel snobby or stuffy. I came here once unplanned, in the most casual outfit in the restaurant, and nobody seemed to mind or treat me differently, which I always think is great. I'm definitely a repeat customer and will continue to come here.

I almost feel as though I should write two glowing reviews, the first for the service, and the second for the food! I went here on the recommendation of a friend, who had tried it out for Valentines Day. I was in town on business, and hadn't really experienced any of the REAL local restaurants as of yet. As I was alone, I had a seat at the small bar, which was a refreshing spot stocked with great wines and whiskey, two of my favorite things. The bartender was friendly and very knowledgeable, but was not overbearing or over-attentive. They had a good list of bottled beers, so I downed one of those first. The food was excellent. I had the feature, which, if I remember correctly, was similar to the pork loin from the menu, but had different sides, which included cornmeal encrusted fried green tomatoes, mashed potato, and some sort of cousin to the onion. It was excellent. Nice portion size, perfectly cooked, and excellently put together. I followed it with the chocolate tart, which was also awesome. Another factor you rarely hear about is that the customers at the bar were very friendly and kind, and obviously knew the crew fairly well. It may seem trivial, but I often think you can tell the quality of a restaurant (and its crew) by the quality of its customers. All in all, I will visit this establishment every time I visit the home office!

We visit Des Moines at least once a year. Table 128 was recommended to us earlier. One of the reviews indicated dropping in without a reservation might work. David Thompson, the Hospitality Manager, found a table for us at 5:15 pm on a Saturday. We both had the Chef's special 3 course dinner on the 14th of April 2018 with the pairings. It was an amazing meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will return for the very celebration of food and life it represents.

All the apps entres and deserts were delicious. I could tell that the head chef puts some time and thought into his/her dishes. Everything on the plate adds to the dish which is of course what any patron wants to see. They took reservations and seated us promptly. The bartender got us a bottle of wine before being seated which added to the welcoming feel. Waitstaff were all friendly and knowledgeable. Overall 5 out of 5! Edit: I went again this year for restaurant week and had a good experience again! The only thing I though could use improvement was that the lamb was a little dry.

If you like waiting a loong time for lukewarm food. Where to begin, we made a reservation for 14, they seated us at a table for 10. Refused to help us rearrange, so we split up the tables. Reservations at 630, main course arrived lukewarm at 9. Tiny portions, expensive food, like a French restaurant, but so not. Rosemary fries were good. Corn fritters were great. Chicken was very dry, steak was tiny and not warm. This was a business dinner, our waiter was great. We got a very long time to chat with colleagues.

After reading many good reviews we decided to try this place. The menu was amazing. We ordered grilled octopus and rosemary parmesan fries as starters. Both arrived lukewarm. Didn't say anything. The main dish was scallops - same luke warm. This time I asked to have the dish heated. It came back looking sloppy and the trout roe had been heated. I have to say I've never eaten cooked roe before. It wasn't good. BTW they charge for splitting a dinner cwhich I'm ok with, however the sales point is you get s regular serving of vegetables as though you were ordering your own dinner. This was a fantasy. I'm so disappointed. I would not recommend this place based on our food choices and the preparation, though the presentation was worthy. I would recommend the Mescale Old Fashioned. It was the highlight of a $100.00 dinner for two.

Someone recommend this, we were from out of town. Started with grilled shrimp "gumbo" soup, so, so yummy!! I could eat this everyday and not get tired of it! Had the seared tuna salad, very good. My husband had pork loin, Very tender, he also had mashed sweet potatoes he's not usually a fan but I think if no one was looking he would have licked his plate. We didn't have dessert but she gave us a plate of four mini chocolate chip cookies, I LOVE sweet & savory this were amazing. I wanted to buy a dozen! If we are ever back to Des Moines I'm eating here again.

Myself and three co-workers stopped in for lunch on a Friday at NOON. Surprisingly, it was not busy and we were seated immediately. We started with the angry donuts. They were very tasty, but I wouldn't call them angry(spicy), just flavored in a great way. I ended up with the kale caesar salad and curried chicken sandwich. Both were very good. I would have loved to see some parmesan flakes on the salad and perhaps some bigger, more rusting croutons. The curried chicken sandwich came on overly toasted bread making it mildly painful every bite. None of this will stop me from going back and exploring the other offerings. Especially since the lunch is reasonably priced for such fantastic food!
