Great food love the burgers but either answer the phone or atleast have an answering machine with a message with why you cant answer the phone. However the most disappointing is trying to call 4x times and then finally deciding to drive over around 8pm a 5-8min drive to find the place half empty with multiple emplyees around. Some improvements in this will definately raise the rating. A++ to the bartender offering water while I waited it was still hot outside and was much appreciated at the thoughtfullness.

Sometimes amazing and sometimes mediocre. I've taken to ordering burgers rare to get them pink in the middle. I've also offered to tip the kitchen $5 if it comes out right the first time, which also works. On my last visit, the burger was great, but the fries (which used to be hand cut & amazing) were overcooked to dry nothingness, and the reordered batch were the same, just warmer. No one greeted or helped people waiting for tables, and the old fashioned came with no cherry (they ran out?) , no bitters, white sugar, and a full pour of club soda.

This is a regular spot for lunch for me now! I've tried every burger on the menu!! And if you can't seem to find something you like (though I am not sure how), they'll customize one for you. (Add the egg!) Good atmosphere, food is incredible, wait staff is EXCELLENT and very friendly. Prices aren't ridiculous (in the $$10-15 range for an awesome burger and big helping of fries).

Stopped tonight with a group of seven families. Walked in and let them know we had called earlier. The lady that we talked to rolled her eyes and stated they closed at 830. It was 820. Mind you, the website states it closes at 9. As a few of our people stepped outside to discuss what we would do, they shut the lights off and locked the door. We headed down to Blackstone where we were welcomed with "friendly" staff and spent lots of $$.

Fast service, good food. I was in need of some lunch and having been interested in Short's menu before, I decided to give it a try. I loved the range of the menu, particularly the amount of vegetarian options. The service was friendly and fast, the Mushroom Quesadilla I had was excellent. I wish they had non-diet Dr. Pepper, but I will still be back, and want to bring my wife so she can enjoy it as well.

I had the Ting Tacos from their new Mexican menu section, and they were spicy and delicious. The recipes in this section are family recipes of one of the cooks, and all of them sound tasty. Their burger and chicken sandwich menus are also expansive (my usual go-tos) and the fries are crispy and well seasoned

I only wish the burgers were better seasoned/tenderized/prepared, so it was less "look what yummy things are on top!" and more about the actual beef below. Wings were tasty if a bit overcooked on the edges, the Short's sauce (their iconic sauce) was interesting to say the least - BBQ sauce with a hint of some kind of hot sauce mixed in, sweet and mildly spicy, I quite liked it! The burgers are excellent, one of the few places I've seen that can do a medium or medium-well properly (mine was medium, outside was nicely seared but the center still a modest red, the meat very juicy), and the fries were perfectly done. A bit overpriced for the type of fare but it's expected for the style of place, you go more for the atmosphere with friends. They have a nice short selection of IPAs and I found one that sorted me nicely.. Theiendly and expedient staff ensure a nice evening out. Would definitely recommend for those looking for something casual and comfortable for the evening.

Burgers were good, but I can only sum up our visit with one word...overpriced. The burgers were not anything that you can't find at other restaurants or even something I could prepare on my own grill at home. My wife and I ate there a few weeks ago and after leaving a tip to a great wait staff, our bill was over $42 (no alcohol) for the two of us. Atmosphere was nice, burgers were good, wonderful service...I want to become a fan, but the prices will prevent me to return very often.

The food is delicious. The burger I had was cooked perfectly and the aioli on it was very flavorful. They have a large variety of items you can slather your sandwich with and a number of things that are not hamburgers. The fries were exactly what one would expect from fried potatoes and were quite nice. The large amount of televisions in the place was a bit distracting. The wait staff was also very friendly. The sandwiches are a bit pricey, but still all right.

They have amazing burgers, and service is always excellent! I love that this Short’s is so close to neighborhoods, making it a perfect go to place for food that is always dependable and enjoyable. The burger selection is the same menu as their downtown Iowa City location and they are made just as well. Servers are also very attentive and seem to enjoy working here too. During the summer months, they have a small outdoor patio seating section to use. I love the environment of this place, and can’t say enough how good it is to have it in the area!

Nice little place. Emphasis on little. They had a very large selection of burgers or you can build your own. My burger was great and cooked perfectly. The hand-cut french fries were also delicious and cooked perfectly. They had quite a few local drafts. The girls working we're both very nice. I would definitely stop in for a burger again.

I am happy that these guys have moved in to this side of town. They make some of the best burgers I have ever had. Too many places sell gourmet burgers but phone in some part of it. Short's starts with great meat and then every other component is also great. Order an Essex with bacon and jalapeños. That is my usual.

We don't go to Shorts often enough. The main problem with the menu for us is deciding what to order. All the different burger combinations look so good! They also have a wide selection of beers, including many local options. The staff has always been great.

I've grown pretty fond of this location of Shorts over the last few visits. There is a new menu with some great meals aside from burgers on it. The tinga Gustavo burrito is something I need to have in my life quite often now. Even the Pepsi is pretty great.

Short's is outstanding! It could be that it was my first GastroPub, but I don't feel like I've found any others to be quite as good. It's always a tough decision on WHICH burger to snag. The fries are delicious and their zesty BBQ sauce at each table is suuuper good! One day, a guy from the kitchen just handed us a full meal on the house because it was sent back for a different sandwich. He said they changed their mind and we looked like a hungry bunch (four dudes in flannel).

I was there for the first time. They have all sort of burger that a lot of the are really tempting to try. So, if you want to try a burger that you never had in your life, you should try Short's. Also, they give you a lot of fries.

The burgers are very good. Not quite as standout as I was expecting, but tasty nonetheless. The service was excellent. It was quite warm inside the restaurant because their AC couldn't keep up with our hot and humid weather, and that needs improvement. Also, a wider beer selection would be nice, but all around, a good experience.

If you like burgers and fries this place is okay, but wander off of that and it's not so hot. Had one good burger there, but the rest were over cooked to the point of being black in areas. The over cooking ruined them. Went there enough time to know that I won't be going back. Parking is cramped, place gets filled in a hurry and it's noisy inside as well.
