This Restaurant is classified in the category of Bar & grill.
Awesome, friendly service with fantastic recommendations. It's always tough to decide what to order. Breakfast favorite is the corned beef hash and when I'm starving... potatoes o'Brien with a side of bacon to start.
This was the best Bloody Mary I've ever had. House made mix with the standard vegies, an excellent celery salt mix on the rim of the glass, and a strip of bacon to top it off. The breakfast tacos were great too. Nice atmosphere and and friendly service. This place makes a good reason travel to Iowa City, if for no other reason than to get some breakfast
Their fried chicken was nice and juicy, the skin was crunchy. The music wasn't too loud and was a more modern music selection, not a lot of 80s music or 90s. I would definitely recommend going here if you want to eat at a more upscale place in Iowa city. The bar food doesn't really compare to some of the items on the menu at Pullman.
An amazing place to get some food and drinks! The beer selection is always amazing, and the food is fantastic. I recommend sitting at the bar, you get to see how the chefs cook and it's a very cozy feel. Awesome spot

We went here for lunch after our Tuesday courthouse wedding and they were just the sweetest. Food was fantastic as well, just a wonderful experience. They unexpectedly brought out two filled-to-the-brim glasses of champagne accompanied by a slice of that Nutella pie. It was clutch. 5 stars for Cassidy (our server) and the staff.
Fun to try a new place on our road trip. Creative dishes and tasty. Only caution is that all beef is cooked medium rare. If you like it well done, say so. Nice people.
A nice little hideaway.

They were unable to make an omelet for breakfast. So much for it being a diner. Pancakes were good.
It's great, nice atmosphere
Quality food and drinks in a trendy diner setting. It can get crowded, especially on the weekend. You may have to wait for a table.
Service was great and the food was even better.
Found this place a few months ago and so glad we did...it’s absolutely amazing! The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They are excited when helping to explain menu items, or making drink selections. The food is out of this world, try anything as you won’t be disappointed. As for the drinks, don’t be afraid to try any of them. I’ve never had a drink with an egg white in it, but it added something incredible to the drink. It made it a bit creamy and lighter. Think if it as shaking the egg white in so that it almost becomes a bit of a meringue. The picture is the Rosemary Gin Fizz made with an egg white.
Thanks so much for staying open for 2 hungry travelers. Great burgers and fun atmosphere. We’ll try to be earlier next time.
Pullman is by far my favorite dinner spot in Iowa City. Really solid menu, and their burger is one of the best. Great atmosphere and they whip up some really tasty cocktails (their Old Fashioned is incredible). Sit at the bar right next to the kitchen and watch the pros work their magic.
Flies flying all around. Good happy hour deals but flies make it hard to give it 5 stars.
Very pleasant and friendly service. *Exceptional* cocktails. The food was good too
The food was absolutely on point, I had the Frisco Melt, one of my favorite sandwhiches anywhere I go, and these guys knocked it out of the park. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the greens were extremely fresh, would definitely recommend this place to anyone curious for a good meal.
Easy stop for some great grub
Always terrific food and drinks! The staff is incredible and fun!!!
Always great, fresh food with good service.
Cute place with really good food.
If you haven't ventured into the bone marrow world, theirs is top notch. Then you get to follow it up with a whiskey shot poured off the bone, just try it. Unreal
The fried chicken is actually worth it based on reviews. It was crispy and moist. The bone marrow appetizer is unique and very tasty. I dont see many restaurants even out in the west coast offering it. Worth a visit for Iowa City.
Absolutely a delight. Went here with my wife for her birthday tonight and they took a pinch too long for bringing the bread pudding, and instantly comped it. We didn’t ask, they informed us. This is our favorite restaurant in Iowa City now. Thank you!
I love pullman. I have been here twice and I have had an excellent experience both times. Both were on very busy friday nights. If it's the weekend, expect to wait about 45 to an hour unless you plan ahead. The chef and his staff work together beautifully and quickly, creating amazing dishes all night. They come up with fun special dishes as well. The bar usually has interesting cocktails too. They are the only place that doesnt overcook the impossible burger, and they make it something other-worldly. I highly reccomend Pullman to every person.
Unique place with pretty good food. 9/10 - some food is a little too fancy but it's all very good.
Wonderful open atmosphere. Chefs seem very experienced and professional and the dishes also look fancy and high-end. I could see each of these chefs competing on food network! The dishes are unique and delicious. My meal was fab and I tried my companion’s meal as well, which was similarly satisfactory. We also split the bread pudding which was phenomenal. It was very busy but the server was still quite attentive. Will definitely come back!
High quality ingredients, good food and Friendly staff. Did not like the Bloody Mary and the portion sizes weren’t huge.
In town for a college visit and had dinner here! Outstanding! Hip, retro cool but inviting atmosphere, lovely and personable staff and great music too! Then, there is the food- Wow! You cannot go wrong coming here!!!
Nice place, good food, great drinks
Awesome- just awesome. The fried chicken is a must; the best quality of meat is enough but then it's breaded perfectly- not greasy- light and seasoned with a simple but unique set of spices; the biscuits- just have to try.... -and optional to top with local honey and homemade hot sauce that's to die for. Shared kitchen fries with bacon jam- so good. Service was excellent and super nice folks here.
Brendan is the best bartender in the area!! His drink making skills are off the charts and great for conversation. Amazing overall experience, changed my entire perspective on the bar experience. Would go 6 stars if I could!
The chefs are so nice and fun to talk to at the bar while eating
Great service! Tasty specialty cocktails and excellant appetizer platters. We really enjoyed the bone marrow, salmon tatar and charcuterie. Yummm!
This place is great. Amazing food and an amazing atmosphere. Sitting at the bar was fun. Getting to watch the chefs.
Kind of difficult to find, I walked right past it at first. Nice place in downtown Iowa City. You can get up close and personal with the crew, felt the heat of the flames as they were cooking. Staff was friendly, and the service was very good. I had the chicken sandwich (spicy.) It was good but not very spicy. The only real knock on the place was the fries that I got with my order were warm at best. I would definitely go back, would give myself more time and have an adult beverage also would like to try the corned beef hash.
Amazing breakfast, wish we could have gone for lunch or dinner too!! The avocado toast was really good, came with a nice side salad for a very filling meal for $7! I also got the coffee cake, it was very different from any coffee cake I've had but it was delicious! It also came with an interesting coffee butter, really worked well with the coffee cake. If I'm ever back in Iowa City I will definitely go back to try more things!!!
This place is great. Amazing food and an amazing atmosphere. Sitting at the bar was fun. Getting to watch the chefs.
Wow....That is only way to describe the experience for dinner. I checked the area for somewhere to eat during our cross country travels and stumbled across this gem. Super cool exposed brick throughout and nice long but narrow room gives the feel of a rail car. The food was outstanding! I did read somewhere about the Chef and his mad skills. I had to go for a steak with house made worcestershire while my wife chose a salmon dish. Just Wowza! I think that there are plenty of amazing places in the area to eat but we feel Lucky that our choice that night was the Pullman. I am not sure I would go elsewhere on my next trip cross country as there are too many things to try on this menu! I hope you take my suggestion. It is a little dressy (the crowd not the feel) so be aware as not to dress down.
Great spot! Love the ambiance and have always had excellent food and service when I've been there.
Great food and Justine made excellent drinks
One of my favorite spots in Iowa City. Consistently great food and awesome drinks. Great happy hour that they call "community hour" from 3 - 6 with deals on appetizers and drinks. Their kitchen fries and side salads are wonderful!
The food was phenomenal! And, the service from Mario was second to none, very friendly and attentive. We went for breakfast during the winter break, so there was no wait. Don't pass up the croque madame or the avocado toast. Absolutely amazing! Highly recommended.
The wait staff was friendly and caring. We ate outside just before rain. Enjoyed!!!!! Great food.
The Huevos, Avacado Toast and pancake were all really good. Real maple syrup and real maple butter wereserved with pancake. If you haven't made a reservation, expect a wait. It was well worth it though.
Pullman is one of our favorite spots to eat since returning to Iowa. They have fantastic craft beers on tap and truly delicious, high-quality food. Brunch, lunch, or dinner, it has all been fantastic. It's also the one place in Iowa City where you might have to wait to be seated (though never too long), so plan ahead.
Might be my favorite restaurant in the world. The food and service is ALWAYS consistent. I drive 2 hours round trip just for it. 10/10.
This place is great, they don't take reservations so get here early if you want to sit
Great drink selection and nice menu. Unique dishes.
Great food prepared quickly and beautifully. The staff were very welcoming and were attentive to us despite it being busy.
Good food. Cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

Great foodie eats in an eclectic setting
We were well cared for here. A youthful and foremost hospitable group of Midwestern staff. It was a pleasure to dine here. I'd be happy to way here again next time I'm in Iowa City. Enjoy!
Came from out of town with a large work group. Amazing service and food. Emily the chef was great and engaging as was the rest of the staff. Thanks! Our group will be back through eventually. Do yourself a favor and come here and relax
Pullman has been one of our regular spots since they opened. The staff is super knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond to provide a great experience. We love trying the seasonal cocktails and eats but you have to try the pullman burger or the steak frites, another personal favorite are the breakfast tacos. Ask the staff for recommendations they will always stear you in the right direction. Definitely sit at the counter and watch the chefs and bartenders at work. Eat here :)
The food is always great!
You can tell the staff holds themselves to a high standard of excellence, especially the kitchen. Food has never been short of amazing, some of the best cocktails in town.
Great restaurant. Good decor with a railroad "Pullman car" theme. The menu has a lot of variety. Responsive, upbeat staff. I enjoyed my meal and visit.
By far the best brunch and superior service and drinks. Loved it. Great music great fun behind the counter cooking. Love It! Fun atmosphere.
Amazing breakfast, wish we could have gone for lunch or dinner too!! The avocado toast was really good, came with a nice side salad for a very filling meal for $7! Pullman never ceases to amaze for a date. If you want the best experience with your food, I highly suggest ordering an appetizer like the charcuterie board with whatever is suggested at the time, and a drink or two and sit at the end of the bar where the food is made. It makes for a really intimate experience waiting for the food while they cook it right in front of you. Steak and Frites was the first dinner I had in Iowa City and it hasn't changed one bit. Their sauce is completely homemade at the restaurant and they reduce in a pan with some butter before drizzling it over a nicely cut seared steak on a bed of fries. Pullman is an Iowa City must if you're trying to impress!
The Mo Burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life.
I would rate 4.5 stars, but Google prevent that so I'm rounding up. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the steak frites which was delicious. I guess the menu is always changing so try to get it while you can. The only reason why I would decrease by half a star is due to prices being a bit steep and it was a bit uncomfortable watching a female chef snap angrily at her coworkers. Other than that, great experience.
Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you can't go wrong at Pullman. We have gone to this place multiple times and have never been disappointed. Very quality food for a reasonable price. Our favorite dishes are the stuffed French toast (literally the best thing I have ever tasted!) and the fried chicken with house honey and jalapeño pepper sauce. On our most recent visit we sat at the bar and Rachel, the bartender, was working so hard an still made an effort to get to know the customers!
Service was great, food was great, price was great. Just all around impressed. Had the steak and eggs and it may have been the best steak I've had at a restaurant for a much lower price. Plus they had an amazing kombucha on tap. I highly recommend this place.
Burgers, fries and drinks are great. The service is amazing.
I have been here twice , both times my food I ordered was really cold. I’m only giving a 4 star because of Grace she was really nice and tried to help us even if she wasn’t on the clock. She had a great attitude and was a pleasant change for the sub par menu items.
The kitchen fries will heal both emotional and physical ails. Love the seasonal transitions of the menu and a perfect setting for a nice meal. Great playlist and service and creative cocktails.
The corned beef hash was the best I have ever had. Amazing. Sat at the bar and the bartender got my order wrong. She brought Croque Madame, but we'll worth the wait. The alcohol selection was amazing, although I didn't partake. Top off your evening with an indie movie at Film Scene and you might think you're in Manhattan, not Iowa City.
One of my favorite spots in Iowa City. Great food and great service with a fun busy atmosphere.
A bit pretentious, but decent food.
Completely unexpected, but now i realize i should have expected the quality as soon as i walked in. Friendly staff, sat at counter and enjoyed the kitchen show, everything we ordered was 5 stars and the drink menu will have me coming back to try the different drinks available.
Wonderful restaurant and bar. Great French Onion soup. Plus the Chicken Salad sandwich was amazing. Real pieces of chicken with a lite sauce. Toasted bread. Yummy!
Best spot on campus. Fried chicken platter
Very high quality cooking and food.
Nice vibe - food (burger for 1 huevos for the other) was ok. Burgers are only rare or well done - seems odd to me.
Drinks were great! It was my first time trying roasted bone marrow which was delicious with the bacon jam. Definitely worth the visit if you're in Iowa City!
Great comfort food and good drinks. This place is designed to look like an old Pullman railroad dining car with lots of nice wood booths. As you enter, you also pass an exposed brick wall with the word "EAT" painted on it that nicely sets a cheerful yet old-fashoned mood. This place has an open kitchen so you can see your food being prepared. They have a nice beer selection plus good craft cocktails.
The food was great and it had the atmosphere to match. A bit expensive, but definitely a cool place.
Staff was friendly and attentive. Just really did not enjoy the food...
This place is worth a stop. Creative wonderful choices and a plethora of drink options. The atmosphere was AMAZING...as was our server & other staff members. Just a great little gem in the heart of dowtown Iowa City!!
Come for the Friday Night Ramen at 10:00 PM to meet god
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner doesn't matter. The food is delicious! If you decide to have dessert and they have the lavender ice cream, get it!
This is a great little place, with a unique atmosphere. The food was fabulous, and the service was friendly and professional. We had a couple of minor problems with our order, but they took care of everything and then didn't charge us for that particular meal. I had the scallops, which were delicious, and my husband had the huevos rancheros. Overall, extremely impressed! The only caveat is that this is right in the middle of the U of Iowa campus. Parking is at a premium, so be prepared to walk!
Love this place! Get the breakfast tacos!
Absolutely hands down the best burger I have ever had. MO Burger!!!! This is one of my favorite places ever.........no joke.
Grace was an unbelievably good waitress and the food was great
Delicious food, great atmosphere staff is always friendly and quick to get you what you need. I would greatly recommend to anyone.
Food was excellent!!! Great atmosphere, Very friendly staff!!
Dependable good food.
This place was fantastic. The staff was friendly and the food was outstanding. We are on Keto so the fact that so many of their burgers could be keto friendly was awesome. It was a bit pricey but it was worth it.
Being able to see them cook your food is amazing, the care they take in preparing the food spot on.
Great food, great service.
Best French onion soup! All has a very friendly and attentive staff, and a great vibe.
Very simply, the Pullman serves excellent food. Every item I've ordered, and every item I've swiped a bit of from a friend's plate, has been superb. The bar's drink menu is also quite good -- lots of options, something to go with every meal. Whenever I've visited, the service has been great, and I enjoy the ambiance of the place. It's become a new go-to for me whenever I'm back home for a visit.
Great food and friendly service! Really unique venue in downtown Iowa City. Take out or dine in, either way it's delicious!
one of my favorite places in iowa city! we went during 'vegan week' and tried their vegan apple butter cake. it was very tasty
Unbelievable! Dishes we had ranged from vegan to meat dishes. The Hoisen BBQ Burger is made with an Impossible Burger and is AWESOME! The Califlower Jerk Tacos had a beautiful taste, wonderful Jerk! The Steak Fritis was a large plate of very well cooked Steak! And the Pullman Burger.... Well worth a taste.
Very cool place. Server, Grace I think, was fun and easy-going. I had the Pullman Burger and fries and a cheap domestic beer. Literally a perfect meal.
Amazing food and cocktails. The fried chicken is incredible and the kitchen fries are to die for.
Fancy. Love the charcuterie trays are wonderful. Entree portions are generous. Menu selectionsvare diverse.
Went here for brunch right before the UI homecoming game (crazy busy). The food was fantastic, but the hands-down most impressive part was watching the chef run his kitchen team. Communication experts should take field trips to observe this young guy in action.
Friendly staff, good food, nice environment. Can't wait to eat here again.
Amazing food and atmosphere!! If you’re looking for a great dining experience this is your place.
The chicken wings appetizer was fried chicken with sauce on it not the best. The salad we ordered was wrong, just not up to the standards Pullman normally is. thanks
Pullman has the true feel of a diner in a busy downtown. The food here is top notch, and the service is solid. The drink menu is a little pricey, but it's worth the money. The food is priced reasonably and you get plenty to eat. There is an outdoor seating area and indoor seating. I got a pullman burger and fries. The fries are great and the pullman burger was phenomenal. Excellent choice for a quick date or casual get together.
I love this place! Home on military leave and wouldn't miss having a meal here! Atmosphere is amazing. I love when the chefs start jamming out to music. You can tell they love their job! I have NEVER been disappointed!
Excellent place to eat. The people were friendly and service was fast. The food was tasty and cooked to perfection. The kitchen fries are a must. The fried chicken was tender and juicy, not dry. Its a bit messy, but they give you wet wipes for your hands. The nutella pie, served with banana ice cream, was delicious. Would most likely come again.
Top notch dining. Great draft beer and cocktails. Food is simple, in the best way, Americana and fresh, and the staff was delightful. The 80's music was also right up our alley. This is the first time we have peeled off to Iowa City while driving our annual trip to Nevada and will now make it a part of our yearly journey. Except next year we will spend the night so we can take advantage of the Le Fin Du Monde on draft.
Pullman's was very busy upon our arrival, but we were able to be seated immediately at the bar. The menu is extremely small, but ranged from burgers, sandwiches, shrimp and grits, to steak frites, which both my wife and I had. It was cooked to order, tender, tasty, and sitting on a bed of French fries with an egg on top. It was delicious, but also the most expensive item on the menu at $26 each. Our wait staff was very good. The drinks were also good. I wanted to rate an overall 4.5, but the semi pricey and smaller menu kept it from a perfect 5 star.

Recently visiting Iowa City and found this place when searching for a dinner spot on Saturday night. The atmosphere is that of an old diner with open bar and kitchen, so you have the ability to see the chef work on your food. I had a craft beer while watching my food get ready and talking with the chefs. Everything was absolutely delicious...had the Pullman burger and nutella pie with scoop of banana bread icecream. I was in heaven. It was also a nice respite from all the other bars that were catering to the college kids. This place was more upscale and intimate. My boyfriend and I returned for brunch Sunday morning and were once again very impressed. This time the place was packed but the food was still coming out hot and fast with the same quality we had seen the night prior. I would definitely recommend this place. Great service as well.
I love this place! Home on military leave and wouldn't miss having a meal here! Atmosphere is amazing. I love when the chefs start jamming out to music. You can tell they love their job! I have NEVER been disappointed!
Great food and great service! We had the breakfast and would highly recommend!
Wow they have good food and great home made brews. Their Jackhammer stout is best I ever had. The grill is in a house and a little hard to find. Google location is correct.
I was in town for a night and met some friends at Pullman at their suggestion and man did it not disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious. Their Pullman burger was absolutely delicious, the patties look thin but are some how juicy and oh so delicious. The Kitchen fries are LOADED with bacon and other toppings, cannot suggest these enough. The fried chicken was huge servings, juicy and nearly perfect. Pullman also has a limited but great beer and whiskey selection. The Tuesday Special I had included a Pullman Burger, a tall boy and a shot of whiskey for $10, it was a great deal. TL;DR food and drinks are fantastic. Go here.
Probably the best restaurant in Eastern Iowa. Well trained chefs and staff. Tasty menu. There is a reason this place is crowded.
The BEST brunch place!
Some of the best corned beef hash I have ever had. Ask for an extra egg.
Amazing. I have high standards and this crushed it. The food was fresh, well made and nicely thought out. The signature drinks were spot on. Inventive, perfectly balanced and very delicious. The service and bartenders were on point and made you feel very welcome. What would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you.
Pullman’s is my go to spot in Iowa City! Great food and awesome cocktails! Some vegetarian & vegan options!
Most innovative diner I have visited. The duck breast was excellent and the atmosphere was great.
Rocky start (mostly my fault, we didn't call ahead, not knowing it was Mom's weekend for the college students), was told it was a 35 minute wait but it was closer to an hour around the end. The manager felt terrible and gave us a free order of fried pickles because we waited for a table for so long. Service from there on was exceptional. Food was definitely worth the wait, they take care of you here as well despite how busy it was. Would recommend.
FANTASTIC! LOVE their vegetarian options! Their servers are hot. And I especially appreciate the amount of gin cocktails they provide!
I loved the refurbished chic industrial vibe of the place, our waitress was very attentive even with the place being packed on a Saturday, and the Mo burger was hands down the best burger I've ever had, and I do not say that likely. It's pricey, but worth it. However, they're baked goods, including the bun on the burger and our cinnamon roll but not including their fries, were dry and not great. I would recommend going here if you're looking for delicious comfort food.
Great food fair prices friendly staff
Amazing Burger. But, Bread pudding could just be called "bread" and fried pickles were the least good I've ever had. Going for an Alt-Culture hipster vibe but comes across offensive. One of the staff will go on to restaurant greatness...
My husband and I just had brunch this morning here. LOVED it so much. It was a great environment and the food was amazing. We plan on returning again the future.
Exceptional breakfast, drinks and staff!
Great atmosphere and the cocktails are amazing. Professional staff.
This place has great service, incredible food and you can watch them make it! Their drinks are amazing as well and without the terrible prices some places have.
Fantastic staff, very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend the chicken wings and donut with lemon poppyseed ice cream.
The Pullman is one of our favorite places in Iowa City. But it's quality has slipped a little bit since we first started going. We'll keep going back, but it's harder for me to gushingly recommend it to complete strangers. Suggestion to owners: focus on the fine details that your original head chef brought.
Awesome food. Nice atmosphere.
It was great. Good food and drinks. Friendly staff to greet and wait on you. Looks like Pullman car on inside. I will go there again!
Great food, have to have the "kitchen fries"!!! Grace was our server and she was awesome!! Everyone working there seemed to b enjoying themselves, fun, good food, great service, highly recommend this place!!
Vegan miso burger is amazing
It's a great little diner/bar/restaurant in downtown Iowa City. The staff was friendly and sat us right away(2 of us eating). We had a bloody Mary and once of their specialty cocktails with gin/juice. It's an eclectic establishment, with an awesome vibe. Iowa City needs a place like this and I'm happy we ended up going there. The food was dynamite. I had homemade corned beef hash and an egg and potatoes o'Brian. My wife had a salmon bagel with salad. All the food was delicious! I'd highly recommend this place!
Lived up to all the positive reviews we'd seen! Food and service were both excellent. Not a big menu, which often points to better food, in my opinion. We went for lunch and arrived just before a crowd at noon. Hubby ordered the crispy chicken sandwich while I opted for a plain hamburger, and we split a $3 order of fries.. All burgers come with double 4 oz. patties. Perfectly cooked with great flavor; no need for cheese! Fries were as described, between skinny and steak fries and CRUNCHY. Delicious! Our waitress, Grace, kept our water and tea filled and came and went quickly, as needed, and was nearly unnoticeable. We enjoyed our meal tremendously and highly recommend Pullman's!
Very good and a really fun atmosphere. Good menu and good staff.
Friendly staff, great variety of options! We went with a large group for brunch and they were able to easily accommodate us! I'd highly recommend the croque madam or the rotating quiche special! Try one of the boozy breakfast cocktails too. You can't go wrong!
Very good. Seating goes fast but worth the wait. Love the open kitchen style. Breakfast is good. Lunch and dinner is amazing. The burger is my favorite.
Service and atmosphere were excellent. I got the marrow bones which were delicious. The only thing that would have made it better was less bacon jelly. The sweetness was overpowering. My daughter had bacon jelly on her sandwich and felt the same way. Less is more sometimes and that is the case with the bacon jelly.
