We had the veal meatballs and a white fish dip off the appetizer menu that was incredible. The lemon grass in the ricotta for the meatballs provided a light refreshing taste and the smoke flavor on the whitefish dip was perfect. For dessert we had the apple cheesecake and seasalt caramel cake, absolutely devine. Our waitress was extremely sweet, very attentive, knew the menu and made excellent recommendations. We will be back for sure.

Great, creative menus featuring local and fresh foods. Romantic, relaxed but semi-upscale atmosphere. Balances unique dishes, like offering salmon on a black brioche bun, with more familiar takes like lasagna. Great selection of desserts as well!

I ate there for the first time, I ordered mahi mahi tacos and got so sick to my stomach I couldn't eat for two days. I went back for pancakes and they were the best I've had in 4 months. Really made up for it.

Love to go to this place. It's upscale, has food beyond your average Midwestern fare. Salads featuring kale, or brussels sprouts with salmon or Tofu optional. There's a vegan dish with polenta as the meat substitute. Tasty, creative food.

Great atmosphere and excellent food. We came here for breakfast. My wife is on a gluten free diet so she ordered an omelet and was very happy with it. I had the brisket hash and was really impressed. There was a lot of fresh flavor mixed with the BBQ of the brisket. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Provisions Lot F as a well kept secret in Ames! People are a little too generous with 5 stars so I usually only give 4 stars unless the experience is above and beyond. Provisions met all of my expectations of a good restaurant so to encourage excellence I only gave 4 stars. Don't let that discourage you though, Provisions Lot F is well worth a visit!

First time at Provisions on a Monday night to celebrate our anniversary. Enjoyed a nice glass of wine. I had a steak and my wife had the salmon. She thought it was the best salmon she had ever had. Lemon cake and chocolate raspberry for dessert was fabulous. Server wasn't especially attentive but did her job all right.

Our particular server was really nice but it ruined the whole experience when I stepped to the bathroom and from the open kitchen/server area I (and everybody else in the bathroom) could hear a server going on and on and complaining about her tables, some customers and some kids and how picky they are. I was a server, kids aren't easy but That day there was a dance recital in ISU so there was a BUNCH of kids in the restaurant. I will not go back, I have a kid and if shes not welcome, I'm not interested in being there. Food wasnt that amazing to top it all off. Love the espresso and music and how it is decorated.

Made a stop for lunch as we passed through Ames and we were glad we did. We arrived between lunch and dinner service so had to settle for shorter menu but the food was fantastic. I had the club sandwich and macaroni salad which were very tasty and of decent size portions. My wife had the roast beef that she liked equally as well. Prices were very reasonable too!

It was okay. I ordered the one vegan dish on the menu and was brought something with bacon and eggs. Took like 15 min for the waitress to come back around to correct the order. When I finally got what I ordered, it was pretty good. I just wish they had more variety for a vegan diet.

I gave 3 stars because this place isn't living up to it's full potential. On a positive note the restaurant is beautiful the staff is friendly and clean cut. On the minus side you guys could do better with your menus and price point. I ordered 2 entrees for me and my date I believe it was the brown butter tortellini one very skimpy glass of wine and a glass of water total bill. $38.00 to small bowls of pasta no bread or salad and a tini glass of wine. $38.00 unbelievable. I want to come back but not if I'm going to be overcharged for $5.00 worth of pasta.

Nice modern atmosphere. Sort of hidden in the research park, but pretty location. Took a bit longer than I expected to get food. Short single sheet, one sided menu. I had the vegie burger. It was OK, bland. A little costly for lunch.

This restaurant is in my top 5 favorite restaurants in this area. The menu changes seasonally which is fun and lets us try new things. It is rare for us to not love the food. This weekend I went out on a limb to try something and it just wasn’t suited to my personal tastes, our waitress was very accommodating and made sure I ended up with something I would love. BTW the fish tacos are really good! Like everywhere else they aren’t perfect but they will do their best to make you happy, the customer service is great. We had Ashley for our waitress for the second time, we just love her; she definitely elevates the experience.

Do you love good food? Come here! High quality food, great service, very clean and unique flavors. We LOVE this place for breakfast and weekend brunch but lunch and dinner are also amazing. Some things on the menu stay the same and some things change. It's not an extensive menu but the food is high quality and delicious. It's a unique restaurant

Keep wanting to like this place, but it always seems to miss the mark. What it has going for it is, location and atmosphere. What it lacks is consistently good, well prepared food. Most recent visit was Sunday brunch. There were four of us dining- dishes ordered were steak and eggs, chicken and waffles , pancakes and eggs, and eggs benedict. Of the three, the steak dish was the best. The chicken and waffles were dry. The pancakes were under cooked and eggs on the benedict were way over cooked. Also, the english muffin was tough and the hollandaise sauce was watery and flavorless. Hoping brunch is just not where they shine. :-( Or that they hire a better chef!

Depending on the menu we typically love Provisions! We have only had one thing we didn't care for in about 25+ visits. It's similar to the Cafe here in Ames. The menu changes seasonally and be sure to save room for dessert. The coffee here is smooth too! The restaurant is gorgeous, very spacious and trendy! We would recommend this to anyone.

i can’t tell you how the food tastes lol. that’s the problem. we ordered 4 pancakes, 6 eggs, and bacon, (no appetizers) but have been sitting at the table for 45 minutes unserved. didn’t know it was hard for grown men to cook what i could’ve done at home in 5 minutes. would’ve given no star if possible

With a 4.7 stars I was expecting to be impressed, I wasn't. I had the American Burger, corn and poblano chowder and a vanilla Italian soda. The soups flavor was good (a little salty.) I had spent some time in a blender and was quite smooth, I would have preferred a little more whole kernel added for texture. The burger was pretty nondescript. The best comparison I could come up with was the BigBoy burger at the chain of the same name. I was unaware that the dining room closed so if I make it back up this way I will give it another go with that in mind.

This restaurant is great for date nights and brunch. We really love almost everything we have had here with the exception of the Korean chops. The veggie burger is perfect- not too dry and well put together. The drinks are also usually great. I was not a fan of their Bloody Mary. It is small and the spices didn’t mesh well with my meal (enchiladas). I do love that the menu is always changing. Ask your server for recommendations. They always know the menu well and are very courteous.

I wish the menu was a tad larger but I understand they want to do a few things VERY WELL- which they do. I believe some of the options are a little intimidating if you don't have an adventurous palette, however, so check their FB page for an updated menu

The menu was limited and the choices were not appetizing. I had a burger, which I could have gotten anywhere. The burger gave me a bad case of heartburn. The crispy potatoes were too spicy for me, but my husband liked them. The desserts were good. The fresh fruit tart was delicious. The server was polite and efficient. This is one place we will not return except for a dessert.

Surprisingly delicious food for how inexpensive it is! My mom ordered an omelet and absolutely loved it, I ate her potatoes and they were crispy and delicious! I had the oatmeal with fruit and crystallized sugar, and oh my gosh was it delicious! Toast wasn't warm or hot but that's not too big of a deal for me! Cozy atmosphere and very nice waitress!

Took a risk on lunch after having had unremarkable food the last few visits, not up to the standards of Maude's or the Cafe and more like Perkins, but at higher price point. The baked potato pizza managed to not have any flavor despite bacon, potatoes skins, and cheese. The dominate impression was starch. Just starch, with the occasional crunch of bland bacon or potato skin, which was only distinguishable because the bacon had a bit more chew. Perhaps the worst part is the waitress didn't try to fix my experience or acknowledge my complaint. She did offer to box up the food I wasn't enjoying and brought me a check.

Super awesome atmosphere. The decor and lighting and sound everything that creates a good ambiance was fantastic. The food was good farm to table. I will definitely go again. I wish we could have had more room for the desserts because there was some delicious looking choices. Our waitress was very friendly and right on top of things. We got seated right away even though it was a Saturday night. Location was a bit odd and hard to find if you aren't familiar with the area. The lookout onto the pond was nice. I'll recommend this place to others.

The Korean noodle bowl was not what we expected, they were alittle salty and not like what we thought. The pork sandwich was amazing though it wasn't overly salty and the sauce was good. The only thing which might be changed is the thickness of the bread on the sandwich.

The food here is fantastic and the brunch is one of the best in Ames. While it is widely popular the wait never seems to exceed 15 minutes even on their busier days. The stuffed French toast with coconut and kiwi is unique and fun. The location is the only issue I have come across, thankfully they make up for it in plenty of parking

It's fine. Nice atmosphere and quality service in convenient location where they have few other options. I'm told that they have lovely cocktails. But they seem to focus on ingredient hipsterness over real flavor and I don't really recall a memorable meal after quite a few visits. I'm still willing to go for something small after work with colleagues but prefer to go elsewhere for a meal.

What a great and fresh restaurant! The cocktails were wonderful. The Brussels sprout salad was the best salad we have ever eaten. The salmon sandwich was very good also. We LOVE Provisions. Breakfasts are amazing and this is a lovely place for lunches, dinners and brunches on Sat and Sundays. If we want a classy, higher-end, elegant feel and a unique menu at good prices, especially for special occations, this is where we go. Also the perfect location for a great meal before and after a game.

No one can beat the pancakes at Provisions Lot F. During the week you can get oat pancakes that are absolutely to die for. But even the buttermilk pancakes are A Step Above anything I've ever had anywhere else. They do scrambled eggs the right way, not overcooked and rubbery, and they use a good thick bacon. We are less of a fan of the dinner menu, and feel many of the entrees are a little high priced for what you get. It's good quality food, always fresh and well-prepared, but some of the flavor profiles are not to our liking. But for breakfast, it is our favorite place to go.

Tonight was the first time I've ever been to Provisions Lot F: good food, great service. I went with my friend for dinner, and it was understandably busy, being the night before a big game. Despite this, we had really good service. We thought the service was good, but our server, Brendan (unsure of spelling), surprised us by comping the meal because they felt apologetic for the service they provided (it was still good service!) due to how busy it was. Excellent service is evidently a top priority at this establishment. The food was also very good and the portions are generous. They also have good selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. I had Peace Tree Root Beer, which was very good. I also had the Brussels Sprouts Chopped Salad and split the Smashed Fingerlings with my friend. Salads can sometimes be hit or miss, but this was a really good salad with a balanced mix of textures and was flavorful. The potatoes were also very good.

One of the best restaurants in Ames. It has had high quality food and service the entire time it has been open. Four times a year the shafts make a new menu that has delicious seasonal dishes that use many local ingredients. Provisions is a great location to get amore exciting culinary experience than most other restaurants in Ames.

Fancy food, maybe too fancy for me, decent prices for what they serve, and a surprisingly good kids menu. Downside is the very slow service. I don't know if it's because we ordered an appetizer or what, but the main course took a long time to arrive. Very glad the waitress put the kids' order in with the appetizer. Overall, I would prefer less fancy food and more of it for the price.

The atmosphere here is very nice but the food is just okay and not very memorable. I've been here a few times and I can't remember the food being that good. The Cafe in Somerset and Aunte Maude's have better tasting and more memorable food in my opinion. Also food portions is small especially for the price of the food. I expect more.

The cheese for "Today's bread " was mild, and very good. I had a "Kale and Quinoa Salad" with an option to add Salmon. It was delicious. It definitely had less Quinoa than I would have expected though. I had bread pudding for dessert. Their bread pudding is very good especially if your preference for bread pudding is no cinnamon.
