Outstanding food with some great friends. Had the escargot before, lamb later. Others had the fish special (out of this world) and the duck (extremely good). Best creme brulee in town, chocolate mousse was just yummy. Probably the best wine list in town. Outstanding service brought everything together.

Wow. This is one of the best meals I've had! Do yourself a favor and come here - order anything and you'll be so satisfied. We got the Bri and the flaffel appetizers. They were both delicious. I preferred the brie as it had apricot and cranberry chutney. For dinner I got the coco van and o my lanta! It was so delicious. The chicken was falling off the bone and so well seasoned - the veg was tender and amazing. The hubs had the fillet with bourbon peppercorn sauce which was beyond amazing. We will be coming back next time we are in town!

I have been here a half dozen times and the staff and good always impress me. Highly recommend giving the escargot a try, it is fantastic! Probably best to get a reservation for fri/sat nights as there look to be less then 20 tables and it fills up fast.

My wife and I went here for her birthday and was pleasantly surprised with the French restaurant. We hadn't been here before but always saw great reviews. We choose from the menu bistro which came with an appetizer, entree and desert. We had the Escargots, Smoked Salmon, Beef Burgundy, Steak Frites, Creme Brulee and chocolate mousse. Every bit of the meal was so good this is another place we will return too.

Fantastic experience. Le Voltaire is one of the few traditional French restaurants in the Omaha metro area. From what we understand, they actually send their staff to France to enhance the authenticity of the restuarant. I guess reservations are standard. We didn't know that but since we arrived when they opened, we were seated. Great food. Just put your finger on anything on the menu and it will be outstanding. I went caveman on the rack of lamb. It's more expensive than Chili's, but you can't compare the food Chili's. It's so much better!

The meal started off with Garlic Soup that expressed garlic's ability to be mellow, sweet, and wonderful. Was was impressed by the Duck and Lamb. Crepes for dessert rounded it out perfectly. So many people fear French food, thinking it's tiny, unknown items on a giant plate for $50. Certainly, Head Chef Cedric knows his way around haute cuisine, but that is just one color in his amazing palette of dishes and flavors. LeVoltaire serves up food from all regions of France with flair and a huge, pro curated wine cellar. Cedric, his family, and Le Voltaire is also so amazingly active in the community. Teaching culinary classes, supporting charity events, and much more. Go there, try the best pot roast in town (Boeuf Bourguigonon), in a restaurant that you will feel no pressure to be someone other than yourself.

- amazing food -great atmosphere -pricey, but reasonable and worth it I've never had authentic French cuisine so I can't judge base on that. However, everything my friends and I ordered on our first visit was amazing. For the guys, the main entrée was smaller in portion than what will fill them up, but they were quite appropriate amount since we each did a bistro (1 appetizer, 1 entrée, and 1 desert). At the end of the meal, there was enough food to fill us all up (just not to the point of discomfort) and all us each to had a taste of a dish from each category. The atmosphere had a nice ambiance so perfect for date night! Foie Gras frais au sel marin toaste: this is for those who've had duck before because the toast is covered in duck fat. The liver was very creamy. There were only 6 slices, but the flavor was strong enough that one or two will fulfill your taste bud. BRIE JOSETTE was on the fruity side and the chutney balanced out the duck liver. CANARD CONFIT, VINAIGRETTE DE MURES was in a smaller portion than I thought, but the duck was so tender and like the appetizers, the duck fat and fruit "sauce' worked really well together. Beef stew reminded me of Vietnamese beef stew, but a fancier version and was extremely tender. Seafood stew was also very good, however, the portion were fairly small. We only had a few pieces of each seafood which made the dish not worth ordering again. As for the desserts, we got chocolate mouse and clafoutis aux lychees which were divine. However, since the portion were fairly small, it would not have been worth if we didn't do the bistro.

This is by far my favorite "fancy" restaurant in town. And it's really not that expensive. First of all, we've only been twice, six months apart, and we happened to get the same waitress and she remembered us. That's fantastic service. Second, the food is amazing. What you want is the $35 meal deal ($35 for an appetizer, salad, meal, and dessert). You want the crab cake appetizer, beef stew meal, and creme brulee dessert. The salad, unfortunately, is the only part I'm not a fan of, just because of the type of lettuce. My wife loves the chocolate mousse dessert, but be warned, it's insanely rich and thick. Not for the faint-of-heart. Whatever you get, if you enjoyed it, remember to send a 6-pack to the kitchen! (The option is on the dessert menu!)

A must stop visit for any foodie. Great place to go for your first French restaurant meal. Friendly staff put you at ease. Menu selection is excellent. Can't go wrong with any dish though my personal favorite is beef bourguignon (beef stew). The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth.

The atmosphere is very classy but not pretentious, and both the food and service have been consistently great. I typically order the combo of appetizer, entrée, and dessert. I often choose the escargot for the appetizer. If you haven't had snail before, I'd highly recommend having it at Le Voltaire. My go-to entrée is the fall-off-the-bone coq au vin. There's a dessert of the day, as well as the chocolate mousse, pot de crème, crème brûlée, bread pudding.

My husband and I are obsessed with La Voltaire! It's our favorite date spot. Literally my only complaint is that they don't have much of an AC so it's warm while dining, but the food is so beautifully and tastefully crafted that we can't stop going back. We usually like to try one of their specials, but the seafood stew on the menu is really really good if that's your thing. This is a place for any self-proclaimed foodie! The flavors will not disappoint!

( Most likely the lamb since we both had eaten it, ) No one else at our table of 6 got sick.. This is my favorite restaurant in Omaha. Authentic French food and wine in an intimate atmosphere make for a memorable night out. Prices are actually in the affordable range. Wait staff is pleasant and accommodating. Don't let the strip mall West Omaha location fool you. My favorites include the French onion soup, steak frites and creme brûlée with a nice glass of Cotes de Rhone. Tres magnifique.

Every time I have been here the service has been atrocious. The waitresses are rude and only talk to the man that I'm with, which is pretty infuriating! Misogyny is outdated and just depressing when coming from another woman. Considering how consistent it has been with every waitress I have encountered, I can only assume that this is the owner's modus operandi.

As a French teacher, I've brought 40+ students to Le Voltaire over the years to dine and they've really appreciated the quality of the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant. They do their absolute best to accommodate large numbers. We even filled up their back room to the maximum capacity! They have a modified menu for these gatherings and if you're interested, I would suggest that you contact their helpful general manager. I can definitely say that the croque madame was one of the best French meals I've had in the U.S. and that their creamy crème brûlée is something that I just can't mimic in my kitchen. If we feel like French food and don't want to make it, this is where we must go. Make sure that you drop by next door to Le Petit Paris Bakery. I mean, it's right there. You'd be a fool to not grab a post-dinner pastry.

I got shrimp and scallop pasta and it was not very good considering the price. My girlfriend got the salmon which was delicious and so was the appetizer we got. The service was impeccable, and after reading a one-star review by Valerie accusing the waitstaff of being misogynistic, I made a point to watch how they were treating everybody. I think Valerie was either having a bad day or is just a total hater.

Incredible and totally unexpected! Just West of Omaha sits a French culinary oasis. With a simple menu and nice wine list, this place gets it right. The dining room is small with a few chairs and the staff is so helpful and patient, even with the most difficult customers (which I witnessed). The filet mignon with foie gras and demi glace is to die for. They have mastered the grill. I compare theirs to the Continental in Quebec City. I cannot say enough about this lovely little place with its patisserie and bakery next door. So lovely and so nice.

Simply Amazing...Le Voltaire is a rare gem nestled in Omaha, NE (West-O). In this day and age of large chain restaurants including top-notch steakhouses, it is often hard to find a small French bistro locally owned by a true French-native (Cedric Fichepain, chef/owner). French restaurants are certainly not hard to come by in any medium-larger city in the U.S., but "true" French restaurants with high quality food & wine alongside outstandingly friendly and accommodating service is indeed a rarity. Here, you will get all this and with much less "attitude" often encountered at American-French places. I took my wife (then girlfriend) here on one of our first dates 5 years ago. After an amazing evening of excellent food & wine and chatting it up with the ever friendly and entertaining Lisa (server), we became instant regulars. Even more, Cedric came out and talked to us personally, always an added bonus to converse with the chef/owner. We loved it so much on an ongoing basis that we had our rehearsal dinner there! Have been back many times since and even though we now live out of state, we fully make every attempt to return on trips back home. This is a must try restaurant for any lover of food and wine, especially French food and wine! Enjoy.

We ordered Coq au vin, quiches and Grilled lamb at decent prices.We enjoyed most of it, except for the Coq au vin that did not taste as we were expecting so we did not eat. But, the waitress went beyond limits and did not charge us. So overall, I recommend it!

The entrees, appetizers and desert were flavorful and rich and fantastic. The service was excellent too, everyone was very friendly. At first I was disappointed because the restaurant is in a little strip mall/shopping center, but they did a great job of carving out a cosy, well decorated space once you step inside. With entrees in the 18-25-ish dollar range, it's still pretty affordable for a nice date too! Loved this place!

I was going to give 2 stars but I just realized they overcharged me by $3 which is a lot considering my sandwich should have been around $10 (30%!!!). The food was fine, not outstanding. The service/time was lacking -- it caused us to take a two-hour lunch -- which is why I didn't have time to look over my check for errors. They seemed to freak out when a group of 8 came in and our waitress threw a dramatic fit when asked to split the check after the meal -- her stated 20 minutes actually took two or three. Overall, don't bother. I'll make sure to never return and see that none of my friends make the same mistake I did.

I just don't get all the rave reviews. To me, the food is lacking in flavor. I've had two dinners there so far, and was dissapointed by both. Must just be me. Tonight I ended up pouring some of my glass of red wine into my beef bourguignon to get some wine flavor. Guess I'm just unsophisticated and lacking in a delicate sense of taste. I did like the smoked Norwegian salmon appetizer, hence the two stars (hard to go wrong with smoked salmon). Also, tonight the air conditioning was non-functioning in the main room, so at least I got some salt into my food from my sweat dripping... I would have shut the place down had I been the owner. Anything for revenue, even the diner's comfort. Doubt I'll give it a third try.

This is clearly an Omaha staple. The charcuterie board was refreshingly different with elk, goose breast, and venison meats along with sheep and goats milk cheeses. The entrees didn't blow you away or anything. We did the fish special and the pork tenderloin. Both were lack luster. However, the creme brulee was very good. Wine selection and service is excellent. Space could use some updating. Overall, decent for the price. Not somewhere I'd be jonesing to get back to with all of the other incredible options Omaha has to offer.

Took my girlfriend here. This is hands down one of the best restaurants we have been to in Omaha. Loved everything. Definitely worth the price. We will be back, likely for important dates as it is pricy. $40 per person includes 2 entrees, one bottle of wine, and desert.
