Food was good once it finally came . Waitress was horrible. Zero personality . Didn't bring silverware or ask if we needed refills . Good thing we were just passing thru . Definitely won't be back . Just to clarify . Dark haired waitress was terrible . Blond was working her tail off .

Had the pleasure of dining here for my husband's work Christmas party. Family friendly for our children. The food is absolutely AMAZING! Everything from the broasted chicken to the salads and desserts... But... The awesome character of this place! What a true family tradition. From the collection of family plates and teapots to the spacious seating to accommodate our littles. Everyone is very welcoming, just like you're family! We'll be going a bit out of our usual route to make much more frequent trips! Our new Family Tradition

Friendly staff, great broasted chicken. We went at lunch time, the buffet was nice and fresh. I would not hesitate to return when in Monticello. The atmosphere is a little run down, but don't let that scare you. Good food at reasonable pricing. (It's obviously where the locals frequent)

I've actually been there several times over the years, and I can honestly say I wish I lived closer & passed through more often. Great food & friendly service, easy to get to ( not far off the main highway 151 ). I'm not sure what day it was when I came through the last time, but the chicken on the buffet table was absolutely, hands down, the best fried chicken I have had in 30÷ years since my mother passed away..!! And I put my mother's fried on a very high pedestal & didn't this I would ever have any that compaired...but I have found it.!! ♡♡♡ So if you find yourself in Jones County Iowa and a hunger for great food, don't hesitate, get to Monticello & have some excellent food & enjoy...i know I will be there again soon, and I'm hoping the buffet tables are filled with all the excellent dishes & especially that superb fried chicken that was hands down the best I've had in 30+ years...☺

Our particular waitress wasnt very friendly. The owner seemed very nice though. We happened to be there for an anniversary of when she and her husband took over. She seemed to know almost everyone's names and their favorite foods. I was very impressed with the owner. Maybe our waitress wasnt having the best day or just doesnt enjoy new ppl? I dont know but she came off as grumpy so we got the self serve bar and skipped dealing with her. The food was really good, the place was clean it had that charming small diner feel.

Prices are steep for what you get. I got an appetizer of cheeseballs that cost me $5.25 (not bad) but when I got them there were maybe 10 of them... they did taste amazing though! Nothing comes with sides so they are an add on which cost around $2 for each side. Salad bar being $5.50! I got the ham steak dinner and when I got itmy steak was at tops 1/4" thick and that's pushing it. It tasted good but kinda small. Over all, food was good, service was fine but for price I'd much rather go somewhere else!

This was our first time eating at this restaurant. Upon entering the restaurant we were warmly greeted by our waitress, Rachel. Our food was delicious. The owner even came to our table for a friendly conversation. We would highly recommend eating here.

Staying at local campground on vacation; 1st time ate off the menu great service good food. 2nd time ate the buffet and after the initial drink order and notifying our waitress we woyld be having the buffet had to flag down waitresses and one time walk up to the counter to get some refills.

Family loves this place. Not much of a breakfast fan, so I'm so happy I can order anything off the menu at 8am. Enjoy their tenderloins. My niece goes wild for the chocolate chip pancake. It comes out the size of her. So big. Always leave with a happy full belly. & For a reasonable price.

Good stop with good food. Nice staff. They had a lunch hour buffet running when I was there but I chose to eat off the menu. The waitress was very nice and gave me some time. I enjoyed my cheeseburger very much and I had cheese curds as my side and they were awesome.

Food was nothing to brag about, very bland, waitress had NO personality and never came back by to check on us or get us refills. It's a shame it had such good reviews or we wouldn't have wasted our money. These people that think the food is so great must not get out of town! Also had to wait awhile for food and they weren't even busy!
