Good food, bad atmosphere. Waitress and cashier were very unfriendly. Drab personalities. I ate dinner and had icetea, when I went to check they charged me an additional icetea and it was a small cup full of ice and hardly any tea. But the tea at dinner had hardly any ice and was watered down. I'll never be back and the word will get out.

The service was very fast and friendly. They stayed on top of the drinks and kept the table clean. The prices were great, had a lunch for under $10, and didn't leave hungry. Co worker had a steak and eggs special and said it was amazing. I had the hot beef sandwich, which was decent. Can't wait till I find a place with home made gravy. Over all this nice older cafe style restaurant is worth a stop on the map, in this historic town.

Sent for lunch... had breakfast. 8 ounce New York Strip, ordered medium well... cooked medium well, without having to send it back to the cook because pink is his/her favorite color...a rarity in my experience (pardon the pun)... tender, succulent, and seasoned well. Two eggs, fried over-well with none of the usual crispy, fried edges... perfect. A mound of hashed browns, fried to a light brown and moist without being soggy... another rarity in cooking. Had a great medium baked potato when I returned for breakfast two mornings later... served only with butter and sour cream, but I'm certain if you wanted additional condiments, they will certainly accommodate you. Two slices of wheat toast, lightly browned and already buttered on the plate at arrival (biscuits are available if you choose... they looked high and fluffy). $9.99 plus beverage and tip. Staff was congenial, what you would expect for rural culture in iowa...I wanted for nothing and they delivered more than my initial expectations. Ask your waitress to show you a photo of the answer to her husband's man- cave... her She- shed. I DARE YOU TO FIND BETTER QUALITY FOOD, COOKING, STAFF AND PRICE ANYWHERE ELSE! GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!

What a great, small town, family restaurant! Food was excellent; service was friendly! We were visiting and Aunt in Hampton and she loves it here, so she wanted to take us. Quite a delectable treat, and extremely reasonable prices for what they offer! So glad we went! They have an extensive breakfast menu, but other menu choices are very good too. They also have several daily specials which include choice of potato and the complete salad bar, which was filled with delicious choices. These daily specials were all priced less than $9! I had the fish steak with my choice of potato, and soup or salad. My husband had the T-bone steak with choice of eggs and potato, plus toast. We were both very satisfied. When visiting Hampton again, we will certainly choose to eat there with no hesitation!

We have gone here for breakfast and lunch both have always been good. It's diner type menu has sandwiches and dinners as well as all day breakfast items. They have a salad bar and daily specials. If your in the area and are after a sit down meal try it.
