Excellent tea selection and BEST tea presentation for the price ($3-5)! However, patrons were sending back their dishes to the kitchen at 2 of the 6 tables. Not sure if language barrier or what, but some of the dishes served didn't match the ingredients listed on menu.

This is a Japanese restaurant run by a Chinese owner and servers. The menu had variety anywhere from Southeast Asian, Japanese to Chinese. They were mimicking some Izakaya style food as well as regular Chinese restaurant. It is definitely not a sushi place. Too much rice on Nigiri sushi and they wanted to sell more rolls because rolls fill up faster. Fish was not very fresh nore well cured as it should. Food served was out of order. They should serve sushi first then other dishes since sushi is cold and works up appetite. Perhaps they were not very confident in their sushi. What was surprising was the 18% tip without really doing a good service that deserves 18 %. When I asked to remove the automatically added tip, they forced me to pay by saying that having more than certain number of people require more tip. There was no written notification of any sort anywhere. So be aware, they force tips on you. Sushi is eaten with a good taste of rice. Rice was very bland. Their other store, Sushi Ito served undercooked rice. Their sushi was worse than ones at Martin's (grocery store pre-maid sushi). Will not eat there again for sushi. May be other stuff. Their ramen was way out of normal Japanese Ramen. Simply do not know what Japanese food is........ LOL I have had tons of Japanese food all over Japan and Korea and big US cities with real Japanese food. I will avoid all Japanese restaurants in South Bend/Mishawaka area. I have had no success so far......

Zing is not just a place to go for great sushi and a boggling variety of other equally-adventurous dishes, it is a dining experience. Tiny, trendy, staffed by unfailingly polite people, it feels like it should be in a larger, more culturally- attuned city, not downtown Mishawaka. Even the music is always just a bit weird in a satisfying, "hey what is this?" kind of way. I could drink the ginger salad dressing by the glass.

We went late one Sunday during a blizzard, they sat us at the last table by a small space heater and the bathrooms. The food was outstanding though, so it made up for the freezing atmosphere and hearing the toilets flush. Pineapple rice was to die for and the sushi was amazing!

The sashimi is very well prepared. I enjoyed it. I only took issue with 1 thing: I ordered Apple green tea, I burnt my mouth on how hot it was because Green Tea is supposed to be brewed at a lower temp, 175-180 degrees, NOT to boiling. Once it cooled though it had very good flavor.

The prices are fair and the food is good. Every time I've gone we have waited about 40 minutes to an hour for our food. The sushi is always done way before food from the kitchen is so if you get deep fried sushi it's cold and chewy because it sits for a while because your other food is still cooking. This last time we went the couple beside of us waited so long for their food they asked for to-go boxes for their food when they finally got it. The staff is nice but the waiters didn't bring us any refills. when we asked for things they said they would be right back with it and then dissapered and then we had to ask for things again before we got them. I wish things were a bit better because a lot of the food is amazing you just have to wait a long time and things aren't made in the order they should be.

This is probably the best asian place you'll ever go to. It just opened, the staff is SO polite and very quick to get you anything you need. The food is absolutely fantastic, so it really encourages people to expand their food horizons and just order something they've perhaps never had before, and have it come out how it was meant to instead of a cheap-o made version of the food item. They have a VERY expansive menu with reasonably priced food items. My food was out very quickly and was FRESH, I could tell. I highly recommend this place to just about anyone, and I'll keep coming back as long as it's open.

Best Sushi in Mishawaka. Though the dining room is small, it offers a fresh and hip experience especially at night. Lunch specials are great if you can get in before 2:00 PM. Try their exotic teas too.

Use to go here at least twice a week but sadly due to me working so far away now I’m lucky to get them once a month. Zing is by far my favorite restaurant. The customer service is amazing, they know me by name when I call in my order and always greet me with kindness. My favorite dish is the Hibachi chicken with fried rice, salad and mixed veggies. I don’t care for the soup though. The chicken is to die for and the mixed veggies are always great! I wish they had a restaurant in Elkhart!

I have been here twice- once when I went on my first date with my girlfriend, and once a year later to celebrate. Both times, the food and the service have been exquisite. The pork fried rice and the awesome roll are both fantastic, and I highly recommend trying a glass of the Fuji apple sake. The atmosphere is great, and they make the best of their limited space. The only negative I could give would be to large groups planning to dine in, as the dining area is rather small. However, there is patio seating available on nice days that could accommodate a larger group. Inside, seating more than 4 to a table might be an issue. Otherwise, I highly recommend giving Zing a chance to wow you like they have for us.

Do not order boat it is chefs choice you will get 2 rolls and rest is the raw fish that is not being used for the day. You can not pick what you want on the boat like every other sushi restaurant. I usually go here for sushi but today was a really worst day for sushi with the server being not interested and not helpful. We ended up eating 2 rolls and the rest was all raw tasteless fish. For $160 I will got to a better that is more customer oriented restaurants.

Good Sushi but a little costly for what you get. Over all a chill place to go for a date. Good service and humor since some of their special sushi rolls are named after popular fictional characters from different adult and kids shows. I personally wouldn't get too hyped about going back though.

I recently had lunch here, and every bite was a delight! From the dim sum appetizers to the rolls and sushi- good size prortions, great quality, tasty.... and attentive waitstaff. I live in Chicago and eat a lot of Asian food- this rivals anything I can get here! Looks like they have tables outside, too. something to look forward to on my next visit.

AmaZING sushi (ha! I didn't even plan that out!). I try to avoid the rolls with the fried tempura stuff in it because to ME, sushi shouldn't contain fried stuff, but lots of people love it. The spicy tuna is my fav!

Fantastic! The variety and freshness of the sushi is the areas best as far as I'm concerned. Very small dining room and I recommend reservations on the weekends. Try their flavored hot teas. They are pricey but I have yet to leave unhappy. Dinner for me and my wife usually runs in the $40-$50 range.

This is one of those rare places I would drive an hour just to eat at. The service from the moment I walked in the door was on point. Nothing but smiles and helpful service. In fact I would even venture to say this place has the best customer service I have experienced at any restaurant I've been to...EVER! The sushi was also among the best I've ever eaten in Indiana, and I've eaten a lot. Simple clean plating, and an eye for detail and skillfully prepared Nigiri is what I experienced. I honestly cannot wait to go back.

I love their food and their staff is always friendly , their sushi is a little over priced but the small dining room does feel a little crowded at times. If you are a bigger guy you may feel a little larger than normal eating in such a small place, also their booths are not comfortable they are run down and need to be replaced. I also don't like the hot tea selections.

I’m not usually one to write reviews about bad experiences at restaurants, but I felt very disrespected today. It started off when my friend and I both came in and sat down. The couple that came in after us were being served first. We also noticed that all the other tables were notified of the restaurants specials/discounts that day, but they only neglected to tell my friend and I(the tables are in close proximity to one other so we overheard). As very frequent customers, we were confused as to why we were being treated this way. Then, after we finished eating and paid, I didn’t have any singles for a decent tip and the service wasn’t too great that day anyways. I understand that servers mostly rely on tips for their salary; however, I’ve always tipped the zings servers well. The bill was $39 and a few cents(I forgot the exact amount, my apologies). I gave them $40 and told them to keep the change, and I thought nothing of it since I always gave them good tips whenever I went there to eat. However, the waiter returned to the table with my check and rudely said “I don’t want it, you just take it” as he tossed the check back on the table. I was taken aback by his response as this has never happened before. I also read up another review stating how they were forced to pay an 18% tip even though there was no written notification of it. So with that information, I’m pretty sure I already paid the waiter the 18% tip and he was just mad that I didn’t give him more. Overall, bad and unreliable service. Will not go here again. Lost some loyal customers.

Was here six months ago. No issues since it opened! Go in and new menus. Didnt think anything of it. Mash potato soup....changed the recipe. Now has different broth and has to be stirred otherwise you get a mouth full of wasabi in the middle of it and it was gritty. On too the rolls. Tried the new lobster dynamite and james bond. James bond was bland and lobster dynamite was loosely rolled to the point you could see through the roll. Was a favorite hangout of ours over the years.....now questioning if it changed hands.

We LOVE Zing! The staff are amazing and the food is truly the best. We have been to many sushi places in town and Zing is by far the best! The chef is wonderful and does a great job in presentation and preparation of the food. We always bring friends and family to eat here (if they like sushi) and highly recommend it to everyone.

This is the best teriyaki chicken/steak I have ever had. I ordered the bento box teriyaki steak dinner and it was great! the steak was tender and thin-cut, sushi wasn't all that good, rice was meh, and shrimp tempura was good. The boba tea was fantastic, and their egg drop soup as well as miso was outstanding!

I’m addicted to Sushi! I’ve tried it all around this area! If you want fresh and affordable then this is the place!! One advice: don’t order anything assuming the flavor.. they have their own swing to all the meals. We ordered the curry chicken and it was so different but good! Just be willing to try new things! I def recommend it.

Excellent food in a very neat and clean place. It's a bit 'cozy', but that actually is a draw for the place. I had lunch and got the chicken Ramen. Fantastic! Creamy and lots of great flavors. I saw many dishes pass me as I ate and every one of them made me want to order it. The staff are professionals and very helpful. Prices are on par with quality dining, but you absolutely get what you pay for. It may sound a bit cliche, but this place is a treat for the eyes, nose, and especially tongue.

Went with a friend of mine here and the dining experience was okay. Seemed a little overpriced, but the food was good. I am not sure I would necessarily recommend here when there a significantly better restaurant that can justify the high prices just a few miles west of here. Bottom line: Food was good, service was good, but not my first choice for a sushi restaurant.

I asked for no ginger and extra wasabi, but they gave me triple ginger and zero wasabi. The ginger bled over into the sushi and I can stand ginger. I called to let them know and she admitted that she messed up the directions, but they best they offered was to let me pick up wasabi. That doesn’t fix the ginger juice that’s leaked onto my food and I'm at work for 5 more hours. Update: they called back 20 minutes later and offered a percentage off my next purchase. I couldn’t hear what percentage and I wasn’t worried about it due to the rarity of eating out, but I respect they tried to make things right. Also, the kung pao chicken is good.

I have only been to Zing one time, but will be back for sure! I love Asian styles of food and really appreciated a restaurant that wasn't a buffet style. Zing is young, modern and inspires you to try new things. I really enjoyed my experience and can't wait to go back again!

Food was great! It was pretty pricy though.... $48.23 for two for lunch on Saturday. I think I'll go again on a weekday when they have lunch specials, it might be more reasonable. I was hoping for a more traditional Japanese experience, but the atmosphere is clean and nice. I wasn't thrilled to be sitting with a view straight into the kitchen, but I'm guessing it was easiest for the waitress. There was only one other couple in there, she also sat them right next to us near the kitchen door. p.s. the kitchen looked clean too. : ) Overall, I'd go again.... just be prepared for sticker shock.
