Service was great. Food horrible

Trish Frintzilas Frey

The food and service is awesome. It's a shame it will be closing.

Ryan Feigenbaum

Mediocre fare in a stuffy dining room.

Nicholas Shaneyfelt

Elegant dining in the beautiful, newly restored Morris Inn in the heart of Notre Dame's campus. The food is very good, not extravagant or amazing, but completely satisfactory. It's a great option if you are in a pinch and need an upscale meal on campus.

Our Christmas day dinner was a disappointment. Unfortunately there was very limited wait staff and our dinner experience lasted almost 3 hours. Our order was taken after almost 30 minutes. We had both delicious and unsatisfactory food. The cranberry bread was a hit and kept our hunger at bay while we waited at length for our salads and soups. The Caesar salad was warm and our guest felt it had been sitting out for a while. Another guest indicated the house salad was ordinary, not what was expected at a place like Sorin's. Two other guests ordered the cauliflower soup, and each reported that it was salty, garlicky and had no cauliflower taste. It was an interesting fluffy consistency. Two guests ordered the filet mignon, both medium rare. Both were dry and overcooked. Two had prime rib and said it was delicious and cooked to order. One ordered the curry, coconut shrimp and had plenty. The dessert, chocolate peppermint cheesecake (seemed more like mousse), was tasty. Though the staff were pleasant for the most part, we were curious why so many reservations were taken if the guest could not be properly served. Not sure we'll be back.

This is a nice restaurant with unique food. The menu changes seasonally. The creme brulee is delicious and also changes seasonally. The service is very good. We enjoy taking out of town guests here so they can have a good dinner and enjoy the campus.

This restaurant does not have a kids menu but has crayons for kids and has kids cups for drinks(we went for breakfast). They charge $4 per drink whether its in a kids cup or an adult beverage like coffee. The prices are outrageous for basic entrees and having to order all sides for children was dumb. Service was also slow as well in a very empty restaurant.

Edward

Amazing and interesting food. Wonderful atmospher, right in the shadow of the Dome.

The upscale restaurant inside the Notre Dame campus hotel. Nice ambiance and friendly staff. Food is good, but a bit pricey. I feel like the restaurant/ bar just down the hall, Rohr's, offers better value in a more relaxed setting.

Pros: great location and ok prices. Cons: 1) staff does not know about food :O waiter said and I quote "Kobe is Japanese beef wagyu is an American version of it" hope that let's foodies know the knowledge level of the staff. (for those who don't know wagyu is literally translated as Japanese beef, although raised all over the world they are only a few selected breeds and Kobe is wagyu beef that has surpased all other wagyu in quality. 2) There was always a staff on guard looking out into the floor yet plates seems to stay on the table even after you are done eating for a long time. Water glasses were never refilled and I was never asked if I wanted another drink. 3) As Bourdain recommended I should have gotten up and left when I saw "Kobe sliders" in the menu.

Good food and great location right on campus

Brian Collier

Great food, great service, and the only four star restaurant from days of old left in our area. Come dine where Hesburgh, Malloy, Scully, and Jenkins all have eaten regularly. Come to this legendary spot for any meal. Reservations suggested.

Service atrocious. Food passable.

I wouldn't even rate it because I waited 45 minutes on some nastey food that wasn't even cooked all of the way.

a wonderful respite from the tavern and pub fare. the ambience is classic white tablecloths, engraved plates, soul silver. they're special 4 course dinners are wonderfully prepared and service exquisite... definitely a treat out

Ate her for breakfast. Menu is very uninspired. Food is even more boring. The service is what sets this place apart, or the lack of service. Food is slow and cold to come out, and that's after you waited a good amount of time just for the server to acknowledge that you are seated in the restaurant. Previous review compared this place to Ruth Chris, which is absurd. More accurate would be comparison to Denny's, with Denny's coming out on top.

Sorin's has a great menu that they continuously update based on the seasons and ingredients. Their breakfast menu is straight forward making it easiest to eat when you're in a rush. The other meals are all phenomenal but as a result, you can often expect a wait as well. There are also menu options for those with special dietary needs including vegan and gluten free options. Even when something isn't clearly listed on the menu, the chefs have been very accommodating.

I had a crispy salmon meal that I found both reasonably priced and also excellent tasting. This is French-style cuisine, but not too fancy for most budgets and tastes. Nice change from most hotel restaurants.

Service was terrible considering how expensive it is to eat there. Food was lukewarm at best. Never saw the waitress after she brought food until she brought the check. Noticed on my credit card bill amount had been changed.

Service in need of repair. I waited almost 10 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant to place my drink order. Everything in the hotel has a “hospitality” tagline associated with it. I’m not sure my experience in Sorins aligned with that. Would the chances of me coming back or recommending be above 0%? No.
