REVIEWS OF Rook IN Indiana

Sarah Liddell

I had the ramen on the dinner menu; it was great—multiple layers of flavor and the the white smoked fish was to die for. However, the music, layout of restaurant, and menu items seemed to be all in different worlds. The waitress also wasn’t very helpful although it was mentioned that this was the first time visiting. The menu is also small, so you have to really be willing try outside of your comfort zone, but overall—not a bad experience at all.

Rook is trying, but perhaps a little too hard. The chicken thigh dish had the makings of a great southern and Asian fused dish, but unfortunately it didn’t quite come together. The breading just slipped off. The fried avocado and steamed buns were decent but nothing I’d have to have again, and then finally, the shrimp and toast was just a mix of odd flavors that didn’t mesh well. Additionally, the toast was burnt. Finally, the cocktails were pretty basic for a fusion restaurant.

Andrew Orr

Top notch, I'm so glad this restaurant exists. Asian street food is a fantastic base for a restaurant concept.

Kiki Dee

Rook has phenomenal food and Eli is a wonderful bartender. I definitely suggest any time beef bulgogi is on the menu, especially the rice bowl. Great steam buns, too!

April Justice

Flavors we've never had before! Amazing food with friendly staff!

Daniel Rosado

Excellent Service and Amazing Food!

Tiny Justice

Loved the Pig Face Hash and the fried avocado steamed buns were excellent!

We stopped at Rook because we searched for Asian food and they were on our way and it had fairly good ratings(I should have read all the feedback. I only went by the ratings) First off, I will say that the dishes they serve are very delicious....BUT if you are hungry, please know that their portion is very small and the price is very high in comparison to the portion they serve(3 or 4 small Hawaiian rolls for 6.00 with some dipping sauce, for example). If you want some tasty food in small portion but don't mind paying a lot of money, this place is worth the visit. We were traveling with 3 grown up children. We were there for dinner, but all left feeling hungry and ended up going to another restaurant a couple of hours later. It was good to experience them once.

Ashley Honeycutt

Another white washed asian fusion restaurant. I got a traditional Korean dish that had chorizo and lima beans added to it. Chorizo and Lima beans no thank you.

Thomas Harris

Great service here, although there was a lot of salt in both the pig ears and pig face hash. I'd definitely come back to try other dishes but i don't think I'd get either The pork sweet bun is amazing though!

Classy Ratchet Chick

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Rook, being that it is an Asian themed restaurant. ( you never know what to expect when trying something new) Dusty was a GREAT server; knowledgeable and pleasant. The food was tasty, restaurant was clean. I had a hot date which made the experience all the better :) He ordered steak , they suggested we eat it medium rare (which we never do) we were pleased that the suggestion was great. I ordered coconut shrimp ramen, was afraid to taste the coconut ( not a big fan of coconut AT ALL) however, it was DELICIOUS! Great concoction of flavors. I'm glad I was open minded; I couldn't taste the coconut at all. Thanks to everyone from the cooks to the server, he and I had an enjoyable experience! Would def revisit.

Russell Lindsey

The laing wasn't bad, though it didn't fit my pallet. The combinations of flavors weren't bad. The Halo Halo was awesome. Not sure what was in it, but loved it. Can't wait to see if it's the same as the one in the Philippines.

Augusta Uwah

The idea is to take food parts that are not traditionally eaten and make them into delicious dishes. This was a reminder in why those parts are traditionally not served and hence an epic fail. It gets points for its location and ambience and service. Appetizer was interesting. Bone marrow was fatty marrow, with very little beef cheek for $22- waste of money The salmon belly was greasy with a layer of oil at the end of the dish. Great if you’d like have a heart attack with average tasting food.

Taylor Morrison

Rudest management ove ever encountered

Chris Leland

Great food at a fair price. I've been here a handful of times, and everything has always been great. My favorite dish has been the Pig Face Hash.

Greg Shamblin

The food was pretty good. The concept seems muddied. It was Asian fusion but has rap references throughout the menu (which we loved) but had terrible 90s rap music playing. I forgot ja rule had so many songs.

Kelsey Trost-Burton

New menu is a lame excuse to charge more for less food. No vegetarian options anymore. Will not return unless they get rid of this menu concept which is unfortunate because it used to be one of my favorite places in Indy.

Christopher Crowley

Appetizers very good the sausage , jalapeno asian slaw on a Japanese steam bun, 2nd appetizer smoked hamachi, excellent, main course was the korean rib special...it wasn't much to write about, was like a fatty skirt steak, the flavor pretty lacking, applebee steak has more taste then this sadly.

Samuel Beckman

Very good and not too pricey. Their pig face hash "street food" reminded me of Thailand, but it would have been better with more rice.

RJ Proie

Rook is outstanding. Make sure you get some steamed buns.

Jonathan Neal

Asian "Fusion" that is actually Asian!! Normally I shy away from any fusion restaurant because they lose the taste of what makes Asian dishes so good. Not here. This place is amazing! Great job Chef!

Christopher Smits

My hat is off to this place, the Dan Dan Mian (noodles) by themself deserve 5 stars. Have not had anything close to this level of authenticity since moving back from China years ago. What was most impressive was the chef's interpretation of the dish while maintaining a truly authentic flavor profile- absolutely spot on authentic even though there were some non-traditional elements to the dish, but it all came together perfectly. The aroma alone gave me instant flashbacks to the Beijing cantina I used to visit many years ago. I also had the pork buns and the Laing, which was stellar. Had the Banh mi (on special) on a previous visit and that was dead on authentic as well. This chef has seriously nailed these dishes and am very much looking forward to eating at Rook again soon to try more of the menu.

shelly tracey

Amazing food and the service was outstanding.

Audrea Diliberto

Innovative fusion food with a rotating menu that makes you want to come back over and over. Steam buns, crudo, ramen, and so much more.

Tyson Patterson

Rook is an incredible restaurant with a great vibe and a constantly evolving menu of fantastic items with a full bar. The spam bun is the best food item in the city. A lot of people don't like spam because of a weird stigma but its actually just pork shoulder and ham, If you eat hot dogs you shouldn't fear spam. The menu changes, but the spam bun remains. It is delicious. Just go for it. Highly recommend

Lisa Camp

Although I only had a sample of what Rook has to offer, I was delighted. It’s a modern restaurant with Asian and Filipino inspired food. Yummy!

Chris

Can't really over compliment on this place, best place in Indy

Josh Tarble

Incredible place. Asian cuisine with a unique twist. Our favorite place in Indy.

Joseph Jones

The flavors are great but the portions are really small for the price. Spent $50 for two people and left still hungry.

Richard Sullivan

Took was Phenomenal..! Never had anything quite like it. I'll be back when I'm on town next year.

David Richardson

Great Asian street food with a twist. Nice selection of cocktails. Went with a team from work and shared a number of the appetizers which were all great but I particularly liked the beet home fries and the grilled avocado steamed bun. I had the bibimbap for my main which was good but the coconut curry ramen that my colleague had looked even better. I tried a few of their cocktails and particularly enjoyed their take on teh Clover Club which they use Genever instead of gin in. Really tasty. Absolutely check this place out if you are in town!

Raeann S

I love Rook. Spicy, savory, and eclectic - - there probably won't be anything here for picky eaters, but that's why I like it. Menu is constantly changing, so something new for every visit. Seating is community style, so be prepared to listen in on your neighbors conversations and they on yours. Rook is a welcome addition to Indianapolis.

John Montgomery

Excellent place to eat

Andrew Meyer

Great food and great beer! Management is awesome

Benjolyra Vitasolo

Great Restaurant they are very friendly. Excellent service. Food was great and we are certainty be back.

Rebecca Townsend

I dream about Rook's ramen...

Jason Zhu

Dashi Ramen and Steamed Buns are a little over-priced.

Josh Lewis

I was here on a business trip with a colleague and he suggested it. All of our food was very good, our waiter was very personable and offered us suggestions when we told him we were out of town. Our service was good, and the place was clean. If I were back in town I would come again

Gregory Gray

Fantastic service and great food. My favorite thing by far was the spam pimento cheese buns.

Evanna Singh

The service was great - the waitress was kind & attentive. The food (pig ears, hand-torn noodles, and coconut curry) was even better - good presentation and full of flavor. And the cocktails were sooooooo good - my La Raza cocktail had the Wu-Tang Clan emblem on top! We will definitely be going back for more.

D P

My rating of 3 stars is mainly based on what we had to order due to them being out of the two items we wanted to order. We arrived at 6pm on a Friday so we were disappointed that they had sold out of the Crispy Pata and the Fried Spring Rolls. The Dan Dan noodles were very good but, as advertised, extremely spicy. The fried avocado steamed buns were tasty. We also enjoyed the sauce gribiche salad. We didn’t care for the Laing or the dessert. We will give it another shot.

Jessica Aaron

SO GOOD! I've been wanting to try this place and have heard good things. I'm so happy I finally ate there. Great location, good atmosphere. We had 4 people in our group and shared the dumplings and lumpia, didn't have time to take pictures of those since they were tasty and went quick. My favorite were the dumplings so much flavor. I split the rook burger and dan dan noodles. The rook burger was well cooked and creamy with the egg and peanut sauce, definitely my favorite main dish. I was warned the dan dan noodles were spicy and they are, still really good flavor but no way I could have finished on my own and I like spicy things. Overall I'll definitely be back and look forward to their changing menu!

Tony Sahm

Delicious menu consisting of tasty Asian inspired dishes. The Dan Dan noodles are spicy and awesome. The spam steamed bun is delicious. The banh mi changes daily and I have never been disappointed. Just writing the review makes me want to go back for lunch again. Their menu changes quite a bit, which is great. You never know what new, tasty treat will be added.

Jim Masur

This is not Panda Express. Portions are right sized, and presentation is elegant. You will also not sense soy sauce. Think coriander flowers and chorizo. Foodie thumbs up.

Job Wise

Ate dinner here and it was great! Had the Mami Ramen bowl and it was very good. Good options for vegetarians as well. Service was great as well.

christian buhagiar

Pimm's cup was delicious, but the food was even better.

Hideki Scherb

WONDERFUL FOOD! Dan dan noodles and the mushroom ramen [add chicken] were really AMAZING! Truly delicious. The drinks were sublime. Ask for Tlotlo the waitress there...she's GREAT and gave us recommendations for a fun night out!

William Starsiak

It took me a long time to check this place out after hearing about it, and I wished I hadn't waited so long. Great asian-inspired food. Awesome cocktails. Very hip ambience

Nikki Dodd

I left Rook starving. After eating 2 entrees and 1 appetizer, I went to McDonalds and ordered a Big Mac. One entree I ordered was a braised beef dish for $14. I got a tortilla chip with a spoonful of meat on top. It didn't taste bad, but you can go to Ikea and get 5x the serving for half the price, same flavor. never coming back!

Stuart Kocher Jr.

Probably my favorite restaurant in Indy. Good for small plates, entrees, desserts, groups, dates, or solo dining. They have both a top 10 chef and bartender in the state, you literally can NOT go wrong here.

Kelli Patterson

Came here during a conference in IN and I really enjoyed my meal. From the opening glass of wine and the pickled cucumber appetizer I was revved up and ready to eat. The diver scallop appetizer was fresh and cooked to a perfect consistency. The sea bass was seasoned well and balanced perfectly with the garlic string beans and wok fried noodles. Every bite was a wonderful blend of texture and flavors. The Creme brûlée was a perfect ending to my meal.

David Harrison

Excellent ..Try the Dan Dan Noodles

Trent Ward

Amazing food as always.

Raj Sabharwal

Great eclectic experience - eating Asian/Mexican Fusion food, listening to Reggae and enjoying creative Cocktails -

Joe Doyle

Always changing menu will keep you coming back for more. My wife will die a little inside if they ever take away the spam steamed buns.

Phillip P.

This place is a real gem with adventurous food and amazing drinks

Kelsey Orren

Fantastic service, even on a Saturday night! My server was super sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was fresh, unique and AMAZING.

Garrett Ledbetter

One of the best meals I've had! The food has a deep and complex flavor that will have you counting down until your next trip.

Andrew Libertin

Unfortunately a little underwhelmed by the food and service. Our waiter was nice but seemed new to the role and uncomfortable interacting with guests. We had the tostada, crepe, dan dan, and korean fried chicken bun; none of it was better than if you just had the originals at a Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Korean, etc. place. Seems wide open for a table during the weekdays though!

Jeff Moulton

This food is amazing!

Sam Mack

Eli is an amazing mixologist. Every cocktail is well thought out and presented perfectly. The food is stellar. Carlos manages to combine flavors that mesh organically and always suprise.

Mikey Griesbaum

For what it is, it is great. Solid friendly service. The food is heavy but delicious. The giant pork roast is so good. Even the crazy shake dessert was good. Enjoyed the meal and unique food

Levi West

Great wait staff and a very interesting and delicious menu!

Amber Janzen

They got rid of the dan dan noodles and I am not here for it. Still, their new menu is amazing and the cocktails are fantastic.

Mugdha Gokhale

Very disappointing! Let alone the price, the food was not even tasty or filling. Average service. Will not return.

Jason Derson

Amazing food.

John Sibbitt

Spam buns! Ever changing menu that never disappoints.

Lucas Hickey

From the amazing tasting food to the awesome music, Rook is delicious :)

Elizabeth Griesse

Awesome unique dishes. The jalapeno Spam steamed bun is great!

Lori Janssens

Love the ever changing menu.

When Rook first opened in Indianapolis, I thought it was a dream come true. Asian inspired street food with a heavy Filipino influence was right up my alley. It was a place serving food with an artistic flair at prices that I would not call cheap, but at least a working person could afford once in a while. All of my previous visits to Rook had been great to amazing, which is why with much sadness I am compelled to write this review. We went to Rook at 7:00 PM on a Saturday night with a reservation. It looked like we really didn’t need one, which was my first indication something was up. The waiter took great pains to explain to us that the current menu was all Japanese style. This shocked me, as Filipino cuisine has been making a lot of buzz in the US these days, and why the chef would not play to his strengths and help bring that unique and amazing cuisine to the masses in Indianapolis makes no sense whatsoever. The waiter also stressed that they were small plates. Rook used to divide their menu between apps, small plates, and heartier portions. While they never really served any dish that was meant to be a meal on its own, even their small plates gave you something to sink your teeth into. The move to strictly “tapas” style set off more alarm bells. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the small plates trend that has been going on for the past decade is simply a way for a restaurant to jack up the price, because they are going to charge you the price of a full dinner for each plate, guaranteed. Fish dominated the menu, with the only two pork dishes. One, the Katsu Sando with Iberico pork, was $26. No way that I was going to pay that for a small plate. The only other pork dish was Rook’s signature Crispy Pata, an amazing, sweet, salty, and crispy deep-fried pig’s foot. I always get one when I go to Rook. Not this time. They had jacked the price up by about $20. It’s hard to see that as anything but an insult. It is essentially a note from the chef that says I hate my customers, and they can have what they want only if they pay way too much for it. For the three of us we ordered two rounds of the steamed buns with grilled chicken thighs. These were the best dish we had. Once again, Rook was known for steamed buns but now there are only two on the menu. Technically, I can’t say they raised the price on these, as you now get two buns per order for $10 instead of one for $5. We also ordered the aged tofu, two blocks of tofu in broth for $15. It was good, with the texture of the tofu being creamy and delicate. But flavor wise it was really no better than the aged tofu I get at any Japanese restaurant for half the price. My wife ordered the Takoyaki, and received five curled up little bits of octopus with some crispy bits and sauce, $16. She thought the octopus was over smoked. I couldn’t tell if the octopus was smoked at all, but it certainly was over-charred on the grill which might be what she was tasting. It did not taste fresh, and while a certain amount of chewy is to be expected in the dish, dried-out is not. We also ordered the Saikoro. For $17 you get five tiny medallions of “Denver” cut steak – essentially chuck steak, with a small pile of shredded daikon and a dipping sauce. The steak was over cooked, chewy, and also tasted strongly of grill char. A total disappointment. Will I go back when the menu changes? Probably not. I can read between the lines. The restaurant moved to a brand new space last year and it is easily apparent that they are having a hard time keeping up with the rent. This trend will continue until they start wondering where all their customers went. They should have stayed where they were, or perhaps the chef would be happier if they bailed on their pretentious new digs and just got a food truck.

Darren Fox

Get. That. Ramen. Beer list, cocktails, and wine list are great too.

Natalia M

The waiter who sat us down was nice, but the orders were brought out by another lady and she was plain rude. I was actually very surprised by her behavior, and so was my companion. Definitely 1/5 here. The food was ok, not anything amazing. Out of the 4 dishes ordered 2 were 3.5/5 (the spinach artichoke dip and the burrito) and the other 2 (ramen and desert shake) were 2/5. The flavor combinations are not very interesting and a bit off. The dishes are neither "traditional" nor "interesting", so definitely not "great success". Would definitely not go back for lunch. The design of the place is nice 5/5. The music backdrop is hip hop, and too loud. Totally meh, very disruptive to conversation 0/5.

John Kim

Adventurous Asian fusion perhaps but more like Asian confusion. Interior is clean & modern, wait staff friendly & attentive. Food is over hyped & overpriced. Hip hop volume a bit loud and didn't blend with the food. What's with the old tacky plastic Chinese restaurant plateware? Food was fresh and well prepared but just did not work for me. Potential but needs work.

Alex McGrath

Awesome food and experience.

Mitesh Patel

What I would call modern Asian Food. Good take on traditional dishes with a modern flare. We were there during the Filipino food cycle. My wife and her family enjoyed the traditional take with modern updates (Tartong Talong on Toast). Local draft beer was good. Prices as anticipated, a bit high but okay. Great gathering place to celebrate. We sat outdoors as it was too cold inside. Limited vegetarian( pictured) options but doable if you exclude the meat and get creative. The Halo-halo was awesome and authentic.

Patty Lawlor

The menu is confusing as you’re not sure what you’re going to get for the price you pay. They need to make it clearer on the menu what the portion sizes are. Food was pretty good but disappointing experience because of the higher cost and smaller portion size. Also not sure if this restaurant is really Asian fusion as there are things like pot pies and fried chicken on the menu. Good quality, fresh ingredients, just overpriced and they nickel and dime you - we asked for extra bread to go with one of our apps and they charged us extra for 3 slices of bread. We won’t be going back..

Elizabeth M

Really fun, eclectic little dinner spot! The food was great although honestly not as amazing as i expected.

Donald Moore

Weird food... Had the ramen that ended up being $14 for a clump of ramen (wouldn't even separate) with seaweed and a few chopped onions, mushrooms, and a raw egg. You can't tell what the items are on the menu are except things like 'pig ears' or 'cow cheek'. If you try this place, all I can say is... Good luck!

Kayla Thomas

Would highly recommend this restaurant. Our sever, Shane, was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful without being overbearing. The restaurant is a nice open kitchen concept with floor to ceiling windows at the front, making for an enjoyable dining experience. I had the Applebum cocktail, which was strong and tasty, and shared with the table the lumpia, Hoosier tenderloin steamed bun, and the fried eggplant steamed bun, which were all incredible. The dumpling melted in my mouth, it was so tender. We also had the Karaage bowl and the Mushroom Dashi, both of which were full of flavor and great for the cold weather. We all loved our food and the service and will certainly be back.

Anderson Mayfield

This place had been on my radar since we moved to Indy nearly three years ago, but I hadn't been until tonight. I'm sure glad I finally made it and am now hitting myself for waiting so long! Thanks to Nuvo, I was informed that it had recently transitioned to a more Filipino menu given that the owner/head chef is Filipino. This excited me, as I love the Philippines and their (oftentimes strange) food. Rook's menu and food is definitely tempered to American tastes, but the better for it, as I don't think straight up BBQed dinuguan (congealed blood) would win over many westerners. Banana ketchup-flavored wings, though, is something I hope anyone and everyone can get down on, and the taste brought me back to my time in the Philippines. The winning dish tonight was the kampachi collar, which was served with a Filipino+Chinese spicy oil glaze that was PERFECT. I hope they have something like that on at all times (it is currently on the rotating part of their menu). Kare kare (stewed beef with peanut sauce) was excellent (and a first for me), as were the mussels. The steamed buns LOOKED awesome, but I will save them for next time. The halo halo was great. This is what was in it (no joke): shaved ice, ice cream, coconut milk, pudding, Captain Crunch, bananas, a fruit I have never had in my life, red beans (common in Asian shaved ice), and maybe a few other things. It sounds over the top, and it WAS incredibly sweet, but I loved it. I'm giving this place five stars, and I didn't even order the dish I wanted most: the crispy pata (one of my favs from my time in the Philippines). It was just too big for two of us, so I'm going to have to recruit more people for our next visit (we went as a couple). The cocktails looked great, but we stuck to beer, and they had some excellent local sours and goses, as well as more standard craft and Asian beers (e.g., Sapporo). Another plus: the tapas style portion size was perfect for sharing, and we were able to try 4-5 dishes (granted, I can barely move off my couch at the moment!). A final perk: if you want a pre- or post-meal drink (or drinks), head 5 feet away to Tappers Arcade bar, and you'll have had an excellent evening!

Ciara Hunter

Perfect lunch date spot. The server really took time with us and explained everything on the menu in detail, along with his preferences. We had the avocado buns, Dan Dan noodles and Cubano. Everything was beyond amazing. We will go back!

Tony Betbadal

Our waitress was incredible. Knew the menu forward and back, gave great recommendations. The food had unique combinations that at first blush seem odd but blend well

seth catron

Great service and great food, a bit pricey but worth it

Jenny Cozad

The menu was great, however I might not have ordered the best option for myself. I had the sausage ramen which had a really nice flavor, yet was a bit greasy due to the fat from the sausage. Would give it another shot as I saw a lot of other delicious plates around me.

Josh Tiernan

A MUST TRY if you are in Indy. Fantastic food - inventive & playful, this place knows how to put down a feast! Creative cocktails & delicious drinks make this a cant miss spot.

Rebekah Mazanowski

The dan dan noodles are perfection and the burger is in the top 5 things that I have ever eaten in my life.

Jen Heinicke

Food and drinks were great!! Communal seating was unexpected, but fine. Only complaint was that the bbq shrimp still had the shells, which made it a messy time for my husband lol. Seemed rather counterintuitive since all the sauce/flavor was on the outside. All in all, a great experience!! We'll be back

Ian Van Camp

A rare treat. Rook is imaginative with explosive flavors and inventive interpretations of Asian street foods.

Matt S

Rook’s menu is full of creative tapas-style Asian fusion dishes, but nothing we ordered turned out to be life changing. Our server was not very helpful, but it seemed like most of the other ones were. Worth trying once.

Trisha White

Asian food with a twist. Unique presentation, great music and atmosphere in general. Busy during lunch hours, if you want a quieter space come in after 1 pm.

Armand Gallanosa

Not quite what I expected, had hoped for good Pinoy food ,but surprised with Asian fusion dishes

Chad

Niche resto, philippine style. We ordered the Avocado and Pork belly steamed buns, very tasty but overpriced for being so small and only 1 at $9 & $10. The Laing was delicious with kale, chorizo and cheese, it felt more mexican than asian, however we talked about making their style at home. We also ordered the Crispy Pata to take with us. I thought it was good but at $48 I expected to be amazed. I don't think the crowd they're trying to appeal to may tolerate the appearance of the fried Hock, I'm good with it. If you don't like a fish head on your fish I'm talking about you. BTW, maybe put a filter on your tap so the water and tea doesn't taste like it came from a pool.

Dana QueenofEgypt

Small regular menu sporting solid expected items and daily specials for a unique experience. Small dining room, but tables support large groups or couples. Spice level is not outrageous.

Brian Stanley

Seemingly small portion but have amazing flavor. I got the steamed tofu bun and marinated tofu rice bowl and both were great. Also their cocktails are pretty good as well. Will be coming back!

Slava Vidomanets

Love the food, love the vibe can't go wrong with lunch or dinner here.

Donald McCray

Crispy Pata that's all you need to know. You're welcome.

Ghouley Spook

Honestly one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. I eat there at least once a week and the food is always top notch. A foodies paradise!

Catherine Usher

OMG!!! Fabulous lunch at Rook! I have wanted to go to Rook ever since they opened and I finally went there for lunch. All I can say is I can't wait to go back!!!! Great atmosphere, good music, fun clientele and Candice was an outstanding server. She was patient and thoroughly explained the menu and we ordered her favorite recommendations and we were not disappointed. My meal was topped off with a delicious iced Vietnamese coffee with a shot of honey liquor. So good! My new favorite Indy restaurant! To add to a memorable afternoon, we stopped off at the arcade pub next door for a few games of pinball. Perfect Saturday afternoon.

Kristin Birkey

Several home-runs here, but some things disappointed. If they have it on the menu when you go, the coconut curry ramen is literally one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. The halo halo is a must-have.

Jerry Kennedy

Great Menu. Enjoyed every bite. And the cocktails were very good.

Greg Fields

I got the palabok, the ingredients listed are eggs, rice noodles, and scallions...each of these are less than a dollar at the store yet I paid 14$ for a plate the size of a coffee saucer...not exaggerating..the only more expensive ingredient is pork crackling and that by no means justifies a 14$ plate. The taste is always on point at rook but your prices are a joke for some one trying to get a satisfying meal.

Eric Marasco

Fun place, food was great. Recommend

Mandy M.

Get the halo halo! Omg this was amazing.

Joyce Morrison

Funky and fun food

Zteve Rivera

I just went here for the first time last Friday. My bartender/server was Keith and he was awesome! I station was constantly clean, my drinks were strong, and my food was amazing. Keith and his friend (maybe his manager or helper) were always on top of it and both super friendly! The music isn't what you would expect at a place like this, but it was kind of a fresh of breath air. Although, i could see how some may not like it. I was told they just updated their menu. The fried avocado dumplings were surprisingly really good! My Hot Chicken entree was so good and some could even say almost to big. The hot in the chicken was just the way i like it; flavorful yet still had a kick! Although, I'm sure many probably think it's to hot *Wimps!* And I'm sure no one has ever complain about the portions being to big, but my chicken was huge; almost to big if that's even a thing (na, it's not). I do wish it had some sort of side dish with the chicken besides bread. Overall, i really enjoyed myself! Well, till i got my check hahaha but it was well worth it!

Angela Hughes

Great food served quickly.

Leah Slater

Their impressive menu changes frequently enough to keep me visiting. The staff was not only friendly but knowledgeable, and could describe the dishes in detail. Just a little pricey but worth every cent.

Jim Kincaid

Very good food. Had beet fries and their shrimp curry ramen. Both were great. Especially enjoyed the egg and and shrimp in the ramen. A friend let me try his mushroom dumplings, excellent too. Excited to try more dishes here. Also right next to Tappers, an amazing free Barcade. Great combo.

Daniel Truitt

One of the best meals I've had in awhile.

Melissa Conner

The menu is wonderful and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Drew Clyngenpeel

I really enjoy eating lunch here! The service is quick and very friendly and the small but strong menu speaks volumes about the food here. I highly recommend the cubano!

Ed Ferrier

The Dan Dan was wonderful, great atmosphere. Urban, warm feel.

Ryan Green

Every single dish we tried had a great and complex combination of flavors. So good. Easily my new favorite restaurant in Indy.

Quintin Coppola

Creative and unique, you'll return to dine at this ecclectic restaurant in downtown Indy. Asian with a twist and the twist is done well.

Jessi Spencer

Atmosphere: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Steamed Buns: 10000/10 Crispy Pata: 5/10 it was fine. The sauces accompanying the dish were quite delicious but most of the pork was completely inedible due to its texture.

Kai Wang

Really enjoyed our time here. The food selection is delightful, and it's interpretations are definitely in the realm of excitement. The plating makes the food pop, although I would opt for a different set of plates -- while I can understand it's playing off the Asian style, the plastic plates does cheapens the experience a tad.

Hayley Holmes

Rook is consistently awesome. I have had so many great dishes there. I think he really is one of the absolute best chefs in Indy. We went last night and his dishes are so flavorful and thoughtful. I do admittedly have a deep fondness for southeast Asian flavors having spent time in Thailand as a child. He always knocks my socks off.

april alfalla

Trendy and hip. Interesting food, unique

Great service, the ambiance of the place is great but is it the best asian food i've ever had? Not even close! We ordered a ramen dish as well as dandan. The ramen broth was pretty good but the choice of vegitables in it could've been different (personally i'd love to throw in mashrooms or bambo shoot or bockchoy) The dan dan's flavor profile was good but i had two issues with it. 1. Extremely salty. 2. The spices used are either over used (coz they made my tongue extremely fuzzy) or thats how its supposed to be and in this case then i dont like it! I might come back though. It wasnt horrible. They just need to work on some stuff.

I cant say enough great things about this place. Youve gotta try the steamed buns and the Bahn Mi!

Cory Wylie

The food is unique and amazing! The Room Burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had

Ben Harold

I tried what I was told was their most popular sandwich offering, "the raven" along with the beet home fries. To put it nicely: I did not care for either dish. I ended up leaving my food and eating lunch elsewhere.

Luis Ferrans

Beautiful place and location in Indianapolis. Small menu selections, all unique but good and tasty. Had the pork belly buns and the pot pie.

matthew katz

We loved this place, stopped in for dinner driving through town and the food, service and drinks were all good. We had the buns, salad, poke and some trout and loved it.

Das Gonz

I only ate here as part of a catered function so I can't comment on the regular menu. It was very good Filipino food close to what actual Filipinos eat.

Will Jaynes

The service here is excellent, the music is fun, if you love good hip hop. The food is insanely good. I love the pig ears and the steam buns.

Derek Liu

Quite a disappointing food experience. Everything we ordered (pork bun, toad in hole, pig face hash) was just quite a bit too saucy, greasy, and salty. There was no balance so by the end of it we couldn't really eat anymore. We also didn't order alcohol, which perhaps is needed to dull one's senses to enjoy what's there. Although I believe a truly great food experience shouldn't require alcohol to make it pleasant.

Christian Griffith

Great service, great food, and they got this carnivore to try new things

Ryan Petersen

Unique, yummy food selection with craft cocktails. Great portion sizes with a sleek, modern motif.

Courtney Eck

I called at lunch hour on a Saturday to see if I could surprise my sister and brother in law who were dining there and pay for their meal as a gift for their anniversary. The manager Maya super friendly and was more than happy to accommodate during the busy lunch rush and followed up with an email of my receipt. My sister and bro in law loved their meal and said the avocado steam buns were incredible.

Jonathan Bright

Had the Dan Dan noodle dish and it was great! Spicy, lots of great flavors and just the right amount.

meriya thomas

The tacos were bursting with flavor, very delicious! Great ambience and fast service too!

Thaddeus Keefer

The food was pretty average, but the price was high. Personally, I think $25 for ramen and $9 for a wedge of avocado on a sticky bun is too high.

Andy Howard

I still miss the banh mi sandwiches from the original concept, but they do a great job on the full menu as well. Save space for some halo halo at the end of the meal.

Sam Maher

The best meal I've had since moving to Indy from Chicago 6 months ago.

Ericka Cameron

The food just wasn't that good. I got the Kawagge and my partner got the ramen and we were deeply unimpressed- especially given all of the hype. After a thoroughly mediocre meal we decided to take a chance on the hall hall dessert and it was the biggest let down. It looked pretty but it was 95% crushed ice and canned pineapple. I will say that the service was 5/5.

Steve Schwartz

The waitress has an extreme extreme attitude problem. An issue arose where we needed to talk to the manager. She sided with the waitress who had a conversation with the waitress before coming to our table and had her mind made up before listening to us as customers. Customer service and listening to your customers should be an A+. Theirs is a D-. There are many other comparable restaurants in the area and I would not return nor recommend this restaurant.

Anne Hardwick

The service was outstanding, and the food was delicious!

Jeffrey Callaway

If you like different then you need to check this place out. I enjoyed the food and the service was great. Not really anything for kids. I would go back but not with the kids.

Conor Gray

Decent rice bowl, and it's right next to a barcade.

Karen Porter

This place was good, but not life-altering. I liked what we ordered (creative Asian-style tapas) but the portions were on the small side and a bit expensive for what you got. I liked everything we ordered but expected a little bit more.

Josh Lee

this place is terrible ! it's so sad you can't trust reviews off Facebook anymore. maybe for the tacobell/ McDonald's eaters this place was decent, but for people that eat good food this isn't even an option . this is literally end of the world cuisine! there apps have spam on them.... SPAM haha! they have a taco dish w water logged obviously from frozen salmon, a spaghetti dish that tastes like can spaghetti w a hot dog on top.... the noddle bowl had some fresh veggies on it but the noodles we're saturated and cheap tasting so it didn't go together. literally this uses some of the most disgusting a processed foods on the market! this place is nasty, the menu us pitiful, and the whole concept is garbage! this restaurant won't make very long, the only reason they are still open is because they buy the cheapest, no expiration date food! this was a crash and burn! And 15 minutes after I feel awful because that's what cheap nasty food does to you!! Service was great tho!

Hagen Yungwirth

Tremendous experience start to finish. Food is always 5 star and the drinks are top notch! Carlos, Eli, and crew always going above and beyond to give their customers a phenomenal visit. See you again soon!

Pei-Ciao Tang

second visit. foods are good. slightly at the pricy side.

Kevin Wiley

Great cocktails, better food. SPAM and Dan Dan noodles.

Juan garcia

My friends enjoy the food, for me was not good, good attention and beautiful place, a little louder

Benjamin Ogonek

Always tasty, interesting and beautiful food and drinks.

David Tripp

Different and delicious

Me and my husband stopped by to eat our lunch there. I ordered coconut curry cabbage, it’s a soup with different veggies, noodles and added pork. My husband ordered Korean taco, he didn’t like it. He said kimchi taste like garbage. I like it,they don’t have much options to order for lunch. The service was awesome, it’s pricey. We ordered halo halo for dessert, I was disappointed with the halo halo, the banana was not ripe. And they only put few ingredients in their halo halo. Their halo halo didn’t taste like the Filipino halo halo. The place looks nice and clean.

John Young

Interesting menu, good drinks, friendly helpful staff and reasonable prices

Bert Stewart

So I have seen a few negative reviews of this place. Mostly to do with there limited menu or basically the menu is scary to them. Honestly the menu is limited because the want to do what they do and don't right. Plus they change it often apparently. Now as for the scary bit. Look at the menu before going if you think it sounds gross don't go. But if you like food that is imaginative and we'll prepared with bits that are not "normal" in American cooking. This place rocks. Yes the eggs are cooked by putting a raw egg on hot food. Yes that means it is not completely cooked. Yes that is also what makes the dish fantastic! Go to this place and order knowing you will get fantastic flavors but not necessarily get what you expected.

Best Tofu Banh Mi. Excellent service and delicious food.

SPECIAL DISPATCH DRIVER

Never had a bad meal or time here over many years

Jake Lazarus

Went here twice in the first two days I lived in Indy. Amazing Dan Dan noodles and a nice waitstaff

Christopher Smoot

The food and atmosphere was amazing. Also the service staff was wonderful!

Philippe Bisson

Great place for food and drink. Very good service.

Laura Piercefield

Loved that I was able to book a reservation online, our server was very great, food was fantastic, as were the cocktails. Only thing that I'm taking a star from was the dessert we tried, just wasn't for us.
