At the moment the firm has a score of 4.7 stars over 5 and the score was based on 179 reviews.

As you know, we don't usually stop to write opinions when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Always a great experience. Took 5 first timers and they were blow away with the quality of the service and the food. 10/10 will always return. Most underrated dinner in Indy. (Lobster waffle pictured)
Incredible food and a caring staff made my company's group experience one that we all enjoyed.
Good food but very expensive.
enjoyed our cocktails and dinner. staff very friendly. food was great.
Love Oakleys, always wonderful!
One of the best meals my family and I have ever had!! The menu is one of a kind and they are incredibly accommodating! I asked the server about a vegan meal and he was excited to let me know that the chef was more than happy to create something special for me. It was BEYOND AMAZING. I was sad to finish my last note because I wanted it to never end! And on the opposite side of the spectrum, my dad had the venison, cooked rare, and he said it was one of the best meals he’s ever had in his life. Most restaurants don’t cook near rare enough for him and my dad was floored with how perfect his meal was. My dad is a major foodie and loves unique places with interesting menus and fell in love with this place. This place will not dissapoint and I’m excited to go back the first chance I get!!
I got to cook in the kitchen with Chef Steven Oakley today. Wonderful experience. I had lunch afterwards - what a treat! Thanks to Chef Oakley and also to Chef Tyler. Everyone was friendly and I got to do lots of things in the kitchen. Wonderful day!
One of the few restaurants in Indy I would recommend to foodies. Every dish is well prepared and very elaborate down to the veggies and garnish. Cocktails are also great. It does get busy so reservation is highly recommended.
James Beard Award and beating Bobby Flay. What else does a man need? We celebrated a special occasion here and I would recommend others to do the same. The atmosphere relaxes you while the food borders some of the best I've had in my life. We have been here several times now and strive to taste the entire menu. Indianapolis is lucky to have this gem of a place!
A culinary experience! Everything I tried was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the service was perfect! I will definitely be coming back.
A unique restaurant. Their food is incredible. Everything I've tried has been off the charts. Would recommend to anyone. Perfect for celebrating a special occasion.
One of the best places to eat in town. You're going to want to try everything on the menu. Try the roasted tomato walnut soup. Its perfection.
Very knowledgeable & polite waitress. Very unique menu.
Like the place. Would not expect to find this in the strip mall it's at. Food is very good even for vegetarians. Very decent service and food list of cocktails. Definitely recommend
If I could give a minus I would
Superb
LOVE this place!! So freaking good.
This place blows your palette out of the water! (In a good way) Took my boyfriend there for his birthday dinner. He fell in love with his meatloaf, but I was left wanting from the honey short ribs... it was an odd assortment of flavors and textures that felt very dysfunctional to me. I still think about that lobster bisque and cinnamon crème brulee.
Great food!!
Some of the most delicious foods and flavors I've had in a very long time.
Excellent food. Entrees were the best.
Incredible food and great ambiance.
Food is top notch. Service is okay; nothing to write home about. Slightly on the expensive side.
This is one of my favorite places in Indy. The food is always outstanding and well-presented. It has great cocktails and an impressive (of small) wine list. It is a top foodie destination for Indianapolis.
It's a marvelous experience to dine at Oakley's. The short ribs are a most and the butternut squash soup it's out of this world. Also, the service is always top notch. Highly recommended.
I can not say good enough things about this GEM of a restaurant. Its so romantic and the food is always phenomenal! We always look forward to dining at Oakley's.
Butter nut squash soup is amazing. Great comfort food overall.
This is pretty much my favorite restaurant in Indy if I must impress anyone from anywhere. Local, classic, creative, earnest, delicious.
This small chef-owned restaurant ought to be on your list of special places for its gourmet menu and relaxed atmosphere. Oakley's daily specials mirror the seasonal harvest. On a recent night French, Mexican, and Italian items were featured. An accomplished mixologist evidently conducts the bar. Several superb desserts are on offer, should your entree afford any additional capacity. In short; Go There!
This place has outstanding food. Worth every penny.

The food and service were quite good, but the ambiance was a little drab. Something didn't line up during our visit. Maybe the interior felt a bit low-budget; like it wanted to be a bar. For the style of restaurant I was expecting, this didn't feel right. I'm not sure if I'd be back, but not because of the food or service. Perhaps it's just not my style of restaurant.
Awesome spot in metro Indy. Solid lunch specials. Highly recommend. Steve is a great guy too. Go check it out!
not bad.
Another spectacular evening of delicious dining, this time on my birthday.
Fantastic Food!!
Great food and service
Try the bacon wrapped honey drizzled apricots for an app and finish with the sorbet.
Horrible restaurant. Service was average but the salads literally had worms in them. Live worms crawling on the plate from the kitchen not washing the greens properly. Owner proceeded to blame the problem on his supplier and not his own incompetence. We walked out and will never return.
Delicious menu full of interesting items
Great service. Salmon was excellent
Food is delicious!!!
We got there 10 mins. early. After being seated, the waitress told us she couldn't serve us until 5 o'clock and went over to the bar and stood and talked until 5 o'clock. When she came to take our drink orders, I said I'd also like to order an appetizer. She informed me she would take all the food orders at one time and then serve them at the appropriate time. I ordered the shrimp corndogs that "beat Bobby Flay". What a joke. On TV he made shrimp sausages and used them to make the corndogs. What I got at Oakley's was a small, dried up, tough little shrimp on a stick corndog, that was not at all like on TV. I ordered the short ribs. Expensive and not good. I don't believe it was short rib at all. I believe it was some kind of roast like eye of round or chuck. The texture and flavor was not right for short rib. My wife's meatloaf was not as good as MCL's which costs $20 less. Overall not a good, and a pricey learning experience.
Awesome time. We went for Devour. Hubby Devour Prefix Menu and I ordered salmon off the menu. Also loved the deviled egg appetizer.
Awesome
Absolutely amazing food! And the service was top shelf. Fantastic place to eat. Will be going again soon.
Creative and memorable cuisine. Don't miss.
Try the Chef Special, you will never go wrong. Absolutely wonderful
Fabulous food, awesome chef who came and visited our table, impressed, impressed, impressed!
I visit Chef restaurants often but this is surely my favorite one in the Indianapolis area. Good food and atmosphere. I always just let them surprise me with the recommendation of the day :)
The meatloaf is amazing. I hate meatloaf and yet I order it at Oakley's because it's that good.
Always delicious! Absolutely fabulous food and wine.
This is a hidden gem for lunch! Wonderful presentation, and even though things may sound heavy or "very midwest" they are delicate and thoughtful.
Everything was excellent, from the food to the service. I had the short rib entree and it was delicious as was everything else that we ate.
Wonderful
Shut up and eat should be the slogan of this resturant because that's exactly what will happen when you take your first bite. The food is so good, so well prepared, and so delicious it should be illegal! You must try the duck, shrimp corn dogs, and bacon wrapped apricots.
Awesome food. Great service. We ordered a lot of food here and everything tasted good. A little heavy on the salt but overall taste and flavor profile was amazing. If you go there you must order shrimp corn dogs. This restaurant's chef beat Bobby flay with this dish.
In my eyes this is the best restaurant in indy. you'll notice the attention to detail on every plate that comes out of the kitchen. Staff is very professional and courteous and everyone always has a smile on their face
Great food, drinks and service. We have been to Oakleys several times and never been disappointed
Fabulous interesting and delicious! Excellent find!!!!!
fantastic
It was really a good place the food was awesome
Epicurean Delight...scrumptious with every bite. A perfect egg and a picky mom pleasantly pleased. Cannot wait to go back.

Always fantastic. One of our "special event" places.
This resturaunt was suggested by my grandparents I had the worst experience, my cousin had come into town and I wanted to give her a taste of Indianapolis, we got to the restaurant and we were sat at the back of the restaurant right across from the kitchen. Not only will I not go there again but I’ll make sure my grandparents don’t go there
One of best restaurants in Indianapolis.
Very tasty!
The flavor, creativity, and sophistication at Oakley's Bistro is truly magnificent and more than worthy of the awards it has won. The chef's training in some of the best kitchens in the country is evident in the attention to detail and artful plating. The atmosphere is somewhat modern but with a welcoming, unstuffy, Midwestern feel. The waitstaff were generally knowledgeable and adequate. The major shortcoming at Oakley's is the abysmal value proposition that I would describe as an overpriced tapas establishment rather than a top tier restaurant. It's the opposite problem of the, "death by American portion size" rampant at inexpensive chain restaurants. At any price point, it should be difficult to have a cocktail, salad, entree, and dessert and still feel slightly hungry when finished. Leaving your customers wanting more is excellent advice in entertainment, but is not something I desire in a restaurant. (Edited due to autocorrect for clarity)
Good
Well worth the price. The French onion soup was the best I had of any restaurant.
Great food, excellent service, wonderful atmosphere.
If you want a taste of heaven, without actually going there, this is where it's at.
Fun little corner place, feels like a neighbor hang out.
Interesting menu and great food.
Great for special events.
I really wanted to love this place, but there a few things I think need to be addressed before it's 5 star - first off, the space lacks proper ventilation on busy nights. To me, when rating fine dining (as I think this is per the prices) atmosphere matters. When we entered, we were blown over with the smells of cooking and greasy smoke. Very unappetizing. The smell stuck to our clothes and I can still smell it in my hair. So, do PLEASE get a more powerful ventilation system in this space. Our server was delightful, but I wouldn't say the service attentiveness is at the level of a fine dining experience - we did end up with food served and ready to eat and no wine for a bit. Our apps were good. My short ribs were nothing to write home about, a bit bland considering all the ingredients in the dish, and a bit fatty - almost like they were not braised long enough. My husbands vegan meal was tasty, yet very small, and for 24 bucks we likely won't be back to purchase that meal anytime soon. We were told they only sell local liquors which aren't always the best, as we learned, but the wines were good and reasonable in price.
Lobster pot pie for lunch - fabulous!!
Great food the risotto was my favorite. But who doesn't love cheesy rice?
Delicious!
Every dish is a culinary experience. My mind was blown and the waiter was very attentive.
Quality of food was good- not amazing. But there's not enough of it. Not worth the price tag to spend over $100 on 3 courses and still leave hungry.
The food and service here is exquisite. Expert chef and knowledgeable staff. The selection of wine on the wine list is well thought out and within a reasonable price range. Overall, excellent.
Fantastic food and excellent service. It's one of the only restaurants in the state that reminds me of the trendy eating establishments in Northern California. My only gripe (and it's just a personal preference) is with the deconstructed desserts. The piece of pie I recently ordered looked as if it had been in some sort of unfortunate industrial accident, and I felt too sorry for it to eat it. Other than that, I can wholeheartedly state that anyone who appreciates truly good food should thank Jesus, Jehovah, Buddha, Brahma, or Allah (pick your poison) that Steven Oakley still chooses to call central Indiana home.
Absolutely phenomenal. Every single time.

Great lunch option if you're looking for something upscale.
The Duck and Duck entree was to die for. So many flavors that somehow work together to leave you wanting more. Great atmosphere, Amazing service. I will be back for more.
Really delicious - I like to try several small plates when going somewhere new. Oakley's did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed the lobster waffle, the prime rib dumplings and the (chef's special) Nashville hot frog legs!
Food was great everything we tried was top notch good job chief ....
The food is very high quality, prices are high, portions are small.
Recently went for a Saturday lunch. Service was fantastic. Blueberry lemonade was delish. We liked the shrimp corn dog and soups better than the entrees. They had spices that weren't a great match for our liking (but doesn't mean others wouldn't love em) overall the decor, food, service we're great and I would go back. Meatloaf might been heavy on rosemary, which I don't care for. didn't leave hungry at all!
Oakleys bistro is a gem of a restaurant. Always an excellent dinner and service when I make my way here. Be sure to try chef Steven's shrimp corn dog. Truly a unique and delightful appetizer. Choose any entree and you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend for an intimate dinner or larger gathering of 10-15. There is wine tasting on Tuesday's and when the weather is warm they offer out door seating. See you there!
How have I not been here before? This place rocks! Can't decide which is best; food? service? atmosphere? --all outstanding! This is a great place for a date night dinner, client outing or any other time you want to impress. Stanley's Meatloaf was amazing!! This has to become a regular stop in Indianapolis!
always delicious and creative
So good. The shrimp corn dog was everything I hoped it would be and more. Great lunch menu. I can't wait to return.
Great atmosphere. Service was excellent. Really enjoyed the variety in the food. Chris was excellent, an immense knowledge in wine!
Absolutely, awesome! Stanley's Meatloaf is incredible. The presentation was perfect, as well as portions. There was no detail left out. The wait staff was professional, yet friendly. Desert was great, it was a chocolate moose something or another; It was only on my plate for a second. This is my new spot!
Very attentive staff and delicious food. Would eat here again!
Best place for great food. Consistent high quality.
Might just be the best food you can get on 86th
Wonderful, unique dishes. Beautifully prepared with unique combinations that always seem to work. Great service. Quiet understated decor and atmosphere. If you are looking for something other than the run of the mill steak or seafood place, this is the place to go.
Awesome place to hit up as part of Indy's Devour schedule/slate. The meatloaf was a perfect compliment to the Polar Vortex. Though I imagine it'd be a welcoming dish in any climate. The deviled eggs were a highlight among the appetizers that I sampled. Dessert was a bit lighter than I would've liked.
My wife and I came across this bistro after seeing Chef Oakley beat Bobby Flay, that was enough to convince us to come out and try it! I have to admit though, I wasn't prepared for just how good the food here really is - these reviews aren't padded or fluffed up in any way. You absolutely have to come and try it for yourself. The interior is tastefully decorated, cozy, and not too crowded. They care more about paying attention to the patrons they have, as opposed to cramming in as many people as possible. There's a separate bar area if you don't want to dine at a table or booth, and the bartenders are VERY good at what they do. I recommend the Stanley's Meatloaf, because my mouth is watering just typing about it. Although you could close your eyes, point at the menu, and get some of the best food you'll ever eat. Doesn't matter what it is. It does cost more than your average dinner, but you get what you pay for. PS: Try the cheese plate. Especially if you've never had one.
Fantastic!!
It's top shelf! Great drinks, friendly service, conversational atmosphere., Truely amazing innovative food. Loved it.
Manager did not serve me even though I arrived prior to posted closing time. Very unfortunate and very tacky.
"Award winning" shrimp corn dogs... The shrimp wasn't seasoned nor was the breading. The only flavor was from the honey drizzled over the top but not even that could get us to finish the dish... 1 star. Butternut squash soup was decent. The soup needed to sit a bit longer to allow the flavors to blend. The vegetable chunks we're under seasoned and a little crunchier than expected in a soup... 3 stars Fish tacos... The fish itself was under seasoned and had no salt. The only flavor you got was from the aoili poured over top... 1 star Salmon entree... The salmon was cooked beautifully. It is a lighter healthier dish, but had alot lot flavor and was quite amazing ... 5 stars Short rib sandwhich special was a heavier dishbut was very good.... 4 stars Salmon pot pie... Was bursting w flavor! I was very impressed. Not a light dish but definitely a dish worth going just to try! 5 stars. Cinnamon french toast creme brulee was very good, nothing out of this world but will leave you satisfied! 4 stars Environment is lovely , waitstaff is efficient and polite... Definitely worth trying this is one of my favorite restaurants indy! This particular visit I would give a 3.5 overall! Been hereany times since last post and it's been a solid 4 to 5 stars
Excellent Services.
His food is delicious and beautifully plated. Always a treat!
The chef is a master, but it has a neighborhood feel, albeit on the sophisticated side. I love having this place in our backyard. Keep up the good work!
Absolutely amazing! Everything is very good, cocktails, wines, service but especially the entrees.
Great would go again and again some of the best food we have had since coming to Indy, try it you will love it and go back again and again!!!!
Our first time here was for the winter dinner menu, and it didn't disappoint. I got the meatloaf which was spectacular. Everything was really on point, though. We like it so much that we came later for lunch... which was really good, but nowhere near as impressive as dinner.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. If you have not been here and you love food this has become a must stop. Everything about the entire dinning experience was perfect. From the taste, to the timing, the service, and the ambiance there are zero complaints.
Delicious. Upscale . Inventive. Belongs on Food Network. Good for anniversaries, adult birthdays, graduation dinners. Definitely for food connoisseurs.$$$$
Wow! Fantastic lunch experience.
Try the shrimp corn dogs. Unique.
There's a reason why the owner beat Bobby Fley and you can taste it in every bite. You'll pay more than at most chain restaurants, less than others but it's a bargain when compared to what one would pay at a similar extraordinary restaurant.
Nice small plates.
Definitely lives up to his James Beard Award. Fantastic food and service. Hats off to the team. You all worked wonderfully together
Steve, you did it again .
Great lunch option if you're looking for something upscale.

Very attentive staff and delicious food. Would eat here again!
Best place for great food. Consistent high quality.
Might just be the best food you can get on 86th
Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Indianapolis. If you have not been here and you love food this has become a must stop. Everything about the entire dinning experience was perfect. From the taste, to the timing, the service, and the ambiance there are zero complaints.
