This place was a great stop while visiting Indianapolis. The wait staff was delightful, food was well made and nice portion, cost was overall reasonable (my dinner companion said the beer seemed expensive but I cannot confirm this). The atmosphere is nice except for the metal chairs, those felt like they were picked for style versus usage and comfort. I have to give this place props for having grilled chicken on the kids menu, my kids loves chicken but not breaded chicken. Definitely worth the stop.

We called ahead to make sure they could accommodate our large group. When we arrived the patio was set up for us. Our servers were very friendly and the food arrived faster than we expected for a group of our size. I had the beet burger and it was fantastic!! I’m not sure what else was in it but for anyone who might want to try it, it’s the texture of a bean burger not slices of beets. Thank you so much for a great dining experience.

Not what I expected! The name suggests a neighborhood dinner. It was a "Foodie " place. A "Fine Dining" with casual setting. With prices to match. The food was good but not worth the money. But hay I'm just a country boy in town for a wedding.

The food was okay. My family was seated in the corner of the empty restaurant with 4-5 flies buzzing around our meals once they finally arrived. Service was poor and unapologetic. There are much better options on College Avenue and in Broad Ripple.

I was impressed by the atmosphere. You know good things happen when you order a cheeseburger and you're asked "How do you want that cooked". Both me and my guest felt the food was set at a very high bar. The mixed drinks were delicious and fast. This eatery is definitely on my list and I will be returning soon.

Solo dining and a very pleasant experience. Quickly greeted and seated by the host at the bar by request. Bartender welcomed me as a first timer and shared happy hour specials. Fast service. I ordered. I blinked. Food and drink was in front of me just as quickly as I had ordered. I'll definitely be back!

This is a joke. It is a health kick type of edible attempting to be bar food. Ranch was runny, sour cream was nothing but a teaspoon of drizzle, the buffalo chicken was toddler size at best. To top it off the carry out tab was $25.00 for loaded potato skins and buffa(low) chicken.

Our first visit. They need to focus on service. We ordered appetizers, but the food runner brought apps and entrees all together. She was Very helpful. Their Margaritas are served in what I call large shot glasses. The Manager comped this after I told him. Our food was good. It's a bit of a strange menu. We will give it another shot but I already know that I will not be a regular there even so that I live in the neighborhood. I think this is more for a well to do college crowd.

The menu is rather small. A burger with kettle chips they make on site which are good but I prefer actual fries. I think those claiming its the best ever are just riding the hype and newness. The service is good don't get me wrong but it's not a place I would take to impress anyone or family from out of town.

Food was okay but service was TERRIBLE. Visited at an off peak time but everything seemed to take twice as long as it should. I ordered the "gulf" shrimp but was served salmon, when they finally got the right order out it looked more like popcorn shrimp. On top of that the bill had both the salmon and shrimp. Save your money, there are much better options in the area.

Went with my boyfriend about a month ago to try it out. We went at a slow time. Service was good, not great - and I can't imagine how it must be at peak times. I understand that your thing is supposed to be farm-to-table, but my chicken sandwich with kettle chips and a "salad" was incredibly underwhelming for the price. Not only was the sandwich bland, but the chicken breast was about two bites worth. At least offer some nice natural cut fries for the price, guys... and the "salad" was just several sprigs of greens on my plate with no dressing or additional toppings offered. Drinks were ok, also a bit pricy. I did enjoy the concept you're attempting to go for but it fell a bit short with our experience. May come back to try something new but not sure.

My experience was a good one no doubt. The proportions of the meal was a bit on the slim side. The food was good but more on the bland/ healthier side. We had 2 main course bowls and 3 beverages from the bar and the overall price came to $65. With a tip the total was $75. Not a place to eat if you are looking to stay on budget. You can be the judge. What impressed me was how this place which used to be 711 or Double 8 grocery store turned into thos great atmosphere of a place. Classy and up to date. Our waitress Kaitlyn was great and informative! As she was typing in our order on her live tablet, our drinks instantly appeared while still ordering! Super fast service for a scratch kitchen!

I will be honest, I wish I knew about this place sooner than I did. I live on the east side of Indy and cant recall ever hearing about it. Anyways, I had to come by Broadripple for work yesterday 4/9 and stopped in around 1230ish with my boss. I will say, we definetly will be back, our burgers were both cooked perfectly (I had a Pineapple burger I think it was called). That siracha sauce on it was really good and before I left I bumped in to the head chef in the dining room, I think his name was Jon, he would not tell me the recipe for the sauce but was kind enough to give me a few tips on how to make it. Just observing around the place while we ate, it had a good fresh vibe to it, I saw who I think was the manager (tall guy?) all over the place. You could tell these guys were really invested in what they do. I will be back very soon.

This place was pretty good. I enjoyed my Greek salad with chicken. The garlic smashers were tasty, my mom and I split a small before our meals. She had a chicken curry sandwich which she thought was okay. I liked that they had a decent awning above their patio with all the surprise rain we have, as well as cornhole. They have a decent beer selection too. Kind of a lot of road noise at the time we went though.

I Love the Chicken Bites, Salmon Burger, & the Side Salad. I was there a couple weeks ago with some friends. The waiter was rude & uninviting...BUT I loved the food I ordered, & the atmosphere was perfect! Even with bad service, we still tipped his Tom Sawyer looking @$$. The manager came around to greet several guests to include my self & my friends. He was so nice, I forgave the waiter for his poor service, & decided to give this establishment another try. I returned with my hubby for a lunch date. My husband had the burger, and tomato soup. I taste both his soup and burger, and they were ok. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers when they suggested this establishment was “gentrification at its finest” because the food is way overpriced! Because I loved the atmosphere, and a few food items I ordered there, I will probably return - BUT I cannot give this establishment 5 Stars for minor things like: *The overpriced food “gentrification.” *I understand these guys attempting to be environmentally friendly, but the straw/napkin thing is irritating. *They need more restrooms/stalls. Only 2 private restrooms for the entire place.

Had the pickles and date "snacks". They were delicious. My ownly complaint is that the pickles were fried. They were delicious, but I was expecting fresh and chilled. We also got the baja burgers. Delicious, would be sooo much better with a little thicker burger patty so you could get a better mouthful of beef flavor. We will be going back.

FOOD WAS HORRIBLE, SALMON TO FISHY, MESSY SANDWICH, CHICKEN BURNT, ALL MY FRIENDS SAID THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE I SPENT $60 TIPPED THE BARTENDER, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS VERY RUDE. I CALLED THE OWNER AARON AND TOLD HIM HOW HORRIBLE THE FOOD WAS AND HOW BAD THE SERVICE WAS AND HE WAS DISRESPECTFUL AND IMMEDIATELY SAID I CANT RETURN YOUR MONEY AND I NEVER ASKED FOR THE MONEY BK I WAS JUST SUGGESTING THAT HE GETS BETTER COOKS AND A BETTER BARTENDER. THIS MAN WAS VERY RUDE OVER THE PHONE AND HUNG UP BEFORE I COULD FINISH EXPLAINING...HIS RESTAURANT GETS A 3 THUMBS DOWN FROM ME AND MY ASSOCIATES. I RATHER 7-11 OR DOUBLE 8 FOODS BE THERE THIS IS NOT A GOOD RESTAURANT ADDITION TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD THEY SUCK.

Sparkling clean and super cute decor. There are board games at the host station to take to your table and play while you wait. They have a well rounded menu, with great selections in each area. There are MANY gluten-free and vegan options. Everyone loved everything we ordered. On top of that, our waitress was awesome- patient, kind, and accommodating. ❤ We will definitely be back!

I loved the atmosphere here. Everything on the menu looked so delicious. I wanted to try ALL of the appetizers, but alas I did not. I went with the Honey Sriracha Gulf Shrimp bowl. The flavor combination was great. It provided the perfect amount of heat but didn’t have the taste of Sriracha at all. The honey provided a nice sweetness and stickiness to the shrimp. There was a healthy amount of protein. They didn’t skimp on the shrimp. Ha.

Next door American Eatery is a great restaurant but I feel it's a little overpriced. I appreciate the fact that they locally source all of their food. I appreciate that they converted an old grocery store. The restaurant is beautiful but everything seems like it's a couple dollars more than it should be. Parking is not plentiful and if a lot of spoiled you have to walk over College Avenue. Not great if you have kids. I would give the restaurant a 5-star but I think the parking and Price Mark it down to a 4.

Really good food locally sourced. They have some things you can't find other places like the fried kale chips. The sandwiches are good the salads even better. I live nearby and the only thing keeping me from eating here more than I do, is the price. Seems high for what you get.

A fantastic restaurant, with amazing food and great service! Definitely worth a try if you are in the area! Although slightly off the main roads, it is well worth venturing a few miles out of the way for this spot! The location used to be a Double 8 store and has been sitting vacant for some time, so it is great to see something there! The atmosphere was fantastic, with a great outside seating area that would be amazing on a warm day. Sound carries inside, so when it's busy, it may get a bit loud and make conversations difficult to hear. Beer selection was great, with many local brews on tap! Sadly, did not get to take advantage of their selection. As for food, everything we ordered was superb! They have a wide variety of items, including a variety of appetizers, salads, seafood, burgers & sandwiches. They also have a Specials menu board with different entrees every day. The Tomato Soup was beyond words!! If you like Tomato Soup, you NEED to try it! I can honestly say I was speechless!! I don't know what they do to it, but it was THE best tomato soup I've ever tasted! The Honey Sriracha Chicken bites were very good! If you like sweet and spicy, definitely a great starter! Their Guacamole was amazing and fresh, which was a great appetizer to share with the table (and their chips had great flavor too)! The Pineapple Express burger was awesome! Great ingredients and fantastic flavor! Since we went during Devour, I got to try their Poblano Burger, which was absolutely delicious! Got to try the ice cream cookie for dessert. The ice cream is local, and it was fantastic! The service was great and quick! He forgot to charge it under the Devour menu, but quickly corrected before I even said anything! Overall, a fantastic dinner with friends with amazing food!

Service is perfectly timed and never overbearing. The Chorizo Bacon Dates & Red Pepper Sauce is a great starter and cheaper during happy hour. The roasted veggie tacos are savoury and filling. Be sure to the pickled jalapenos on the side if you can't take the heat. If you need, cool off with the Old Fashioned. The orange-infused bourbon is truly makes this cocktail memorable. All this wrapped up in a superb atmoshpere. I am so glad Next Door is, well, next door.

A little loud, a little higher price point than I think was warranted, and we were seated immediately next to another full table despite many empty tables - I suspect to promote a "neighborhood" feel but instead making me feel crowded. Food was good, cocktails were ok, but I won't go back - too many other great options in the city.

Was excited to finally try ND and was very disappointed. I’ll start with what was good. The service was good and employees were nice. The food is puny, pitiful and overpriced. The menu is odd and small. We ordered a Cuban (decent) chicken bites (more celery on the plate than chicken) roasted brocolini (absolutely no evidence of being roasted, no char or smoke flavor just warmed up, diced into 1 inch pieces?? like you’re trying to get a child to eat their veggies and smothered in some kind of mayo-based sauce. Don’t know what you are going for here, not even close to getting this right) we also had the smashers (potatoes w garlic and parm sprinkled on them) $65 bill for 1 sandwich and 3 tiny sides and I ate when I got home. If you’re that into the ‘local-sourced’ thing (take their word for it?) maybe you don’t mind over paying for ordinary-at-best food. I would never go back or recommend. Way too many places I visit and leave satisfied every time. Whomever posts that this food was amazing really needs to get out more.

We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich (one with a gluten free bun) loaded mashers and gluten free chocolate chip cookies. The chicken breasts on the sandwiches were juicy and flavorful. The loaded mashers were basically a pile of potato skins with bacon, cheese and sour cream. They were amazing! The cookies were the BEST gluten free cookies I've ever had. Only one suggestion... To write GF on top of the container of the GF sandwich.

I love the atmosphere and the service was good. I eat gluten free, so I really appreciate the variety of gluten-free options. For the most part, the flavor of the food was pretty underwhelming, and the portion sizes are tiny for the price. I don’t mind small portions, but I don’t want to pay a high price for a small portion when it isn’t super fancy food. We ordered several appetizers. The loaded smashed potatoes were good. Also enjoyed the house-made pickles and peppweonchinis, though they weren’t necessarily anything special. We ordered the salt n’ pepper chicken, and I sent it back, because it was such a ridiculously small portion size for $8.95. The plate was mostly celery and there was a laughable amount of chicken on the plate. We were told that they do 5 oz. serving sizes. That hardly seems worth almost 9$. For entrees, my partner ordered the roasted veggie bowl, and it looked good, but was also definitely nothing special and not worth the price. I ordered the Caroline BBQ pork sandwich, and it was fine. Nothing special, but good. Overall, the experience was mediocre at best, and the food did not seem worth the price.

For starters, if you live in the community of South broad ripple or close by, this restaurant lives up to its name. The building has history of being a 7/11, super 8, and a grocery store. Many people close by have been to this building through their lives. If you go at lunch or dinner, expect a little bit of a wait. Their side options are weak (only chips and leaves with lemon balsamic). They have a good selection of beer and serve Cokes from Mexico! Service was good and the food was delicious!

The service is impeccable, the food is outstanding, and we love the environment. Even get to bring your dogs to sit outside if you want! We will continue to come back! Wow - The Honey Sriracha Chicken Bites were juice and had the perfect amount of heat. The Poblano Salsa Burger had a wonderful spicy flavor but not over powering. The Bearclaw Ice Cream Sandwich was the perfect way to end the meal. I am not a big fan of chocolate ice cream so they used vanilla instead. The bartender was delightful, very helpful and made our visit a Great experience from start to finish.

A fun spot with an interesting menu. We happened to go during happy hour and really enjoyed their beverage and food specials. Particulary, the chicken taquito, guacamole, and kale chips were wonderful! If you've never had kale chips, I highly recommend.

Went with a group of four on opening weekend- told that it would be a 45 minute wait, but only ended up waiting 20 min. to be seated. Despite being busy, our food came quickly and was good- we ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich (amazing!), Caesar Salad w/ Chicken (yummy, esp. b/c of the homemade dressing), a standard Cheeseburger (looked good!), and the Beet Burger (great flavor, but mushy texture). For water, they bring a large glass bottle to the table to be shared, and its lukewarm (no ice in bottle or individual glasses)- we didn't mind, but some people might. All soft drinks are glass bottle, pay by the glass- again, not super obnoxious unless you have a soda-chugger with you. They serve beer and cocktails that seemed slightly higher priced than I would have expected. Overall, a good experience. Heard another table talking about the kale chips being gross (and have seen that sentiment echoed in other reviews!) so i would avoid those. We tried to order the Carrot & Coconut soup, AND the Salmon Burger and they were out of those... but that's the price you pay for non-frozen food! Would definitely try again when the opening buzz dies down.

Clean and roomy bar and dining areas with bright, cheerful atmosphere. I ordered grilled chicken, which was charred and quite dry - can't recommend. I also had some mini baked potatoes (they don't serve french fries) which were pretty tasty. For dessert, a strange berry cobbler, served to me in a drinking glass instead of on a bowl or plate. Tasty, but difficult to eat out of a narrow drinking glass. I'll give this place another shot some day, but it's not at the top of my list.

The Fresh Farm-To-Table food was wonderful! I loved the flavors and the burger was so good! I enjoyed the look and feel and if the weather has been cooler I would had considered sitting outside but it was a little warm for my preference.

I cannot get enough of this place! The food is delicious and the service is unmatched. My dad and I come here 2-3 times a week to enjoy drinks and daily food specials. Jenny (the bartender) always has a smile on her face and never lets our cups run dry!

Nothing really spectacular if u don't eat meat anyways. Had the impossible burger. It was ehh okay. Cookie tasted as if it was store bought. Service was pretty good tho. Friend enjoyed her salad. But I won't be back.

Food was good service was poor. Had the 50/50 burger with fries and Curry aioli not my favorite aioli but added a bit of ketchup to it and it was good. It server came to it table twice the whole time we were there once to take out order and another time because we flagged her down. We informed her of her lack of attentiveness to our table and still she ignored or concern. Not sure what happened but we will not be going back. The manager seemed relatively disinterested with our bad experience as well.

I’m very mixed in my review here. I was very excited for it to open in the neighborhood and create more business in SoBro. But it doesn’t seem to be an attraction. When I went, it was very quiet and a chill atmosphere. We were greated at the door. The decor was very cute. As for the menu, it did not have a wide selection of food or anything that sounded too appealing. Was overpriced for the quantity you got and the cocktail I had was not great. Service was great though. Maybe will have to give it another chance sometime.

Meh. Food is mediocre, but not bad. Atmosphere is good. Good outdoor seating. If you're in for a $50-80 dinner and it were this or something else, I'd choose elsewhere next time. But again not opposed to going if others wanted.

This is a great addition to the neighborhood and has good food for casual eating, just nothing overly exciting about the menu. They do offer GF options but consider it Gluten Friendly as they don't have dedicated kitchen space. So, there is a risk of cross contamination which is what happened to me and I was sick for 3 days. Also they don't offer a GF meatball which is one of the easiest things to modify. I highly recommend them if you have no food allergies and you want quick bites. If you have severe allergies, you may want to be cautious. I wish they would have done more to really restore the exterior of this historic structure. While they did paint it and clean it up, it now is a generic exterior to a formerly gorgeous art deco building.

Food here is great- the service and wait staff is not anything to write home about. The staff there seem to think that they are better than everyone, which is unfortunate. They make you feel as though you are not welcome or almost as if you are an inconvenience to them. I had asked my server for a straw, to which she huffed and rolled her eyes while she walked off for the straw. Will not be returning to this restaurant, which is unfortunate seeing as how this could had been a nice addition to my neighborhood.

I was not impressed. The place is a fun hip setting. We went on a Saturday after a Butler basketball game. The place was fairly empty with a few patrons, so no wait. They offer a crayon bucket for the kids. The servers were accommodating to make some slight changes to the standard menu options. However the food was just ok. We were advised the burgers came medium well, but ended up really well done. The salmon burger was ok. It all just seemed blah. I might give them another try, and may update my review if it all works out.

Exceptional quality. Salmon seared perfectly, roasted vegetables tender with a crunch . My husband's favorite cuban in Indy (and he searches). Bar menu on point. Clean, trendy, spacious. Unobtrusive and friendly wait staff. Good price. We'll be back.

Love the concept, waiting on the execution. I understand catering to the masses but there's little to no flavor. Ordered 4 different meals and the only things that had taste was the Cuban sandwich and my simple salad that tasted as if the lettuce had bolted.

We arrived just after opening and found a polite hostess who seated us quickly. Our drinks were brought to us and we were given an opportunity to order from a relatively vast menu. The prices were higher than expected and the options limited for vegans. But what we did order was decent, I am no chef but believe a little extra effort could go a long way. Overall, the experience was positive and we might return with friends but this is not somewhere I can eat frequently due to cost and limited options.

So badly wanted to like this place. But the food was bland. So beyond bland, and over priced. My server was superb, but when confronted later about smoking on patio (which I immediately apologized for and put it out, as I had not known) I suggested signs be put up. The employee who confronted my group was very rude and condescending, saying that it was an obvious rule. Not all are aware of the unposted rules. The owner was very polite and explained well, but I will not be returning.

Ok--nice place. Clean and respectable. Nice host and all wait staff personally! We like the simple menu, which offers various options. Our food was really good, and brought to us in a timely manner. Beyond that delivery to the table, no personell checked on us until we had to get their attention for a "go box", and our check. A great addition to the area foid scene. At this point its still a high 4!! Beyond that, the only downside is the metal table chairs are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. The size and design us way wrong. Not all of us have size 8 butts and Barbie hips

This place is fabulous! I had a chicken sandwich and a root beer. Both were phenomenal. I was going to take a picture of my food but I ate it too fast! From the atmosphere to the customer service I loved every second of being here

It's loud, crowded, and filled with nice people. The food was 3 stars, nothing memorable, but the service attitude was 5. Nice selection of local and national food and beer. The principal operator really made things work, keeping everyone moving quickly. I'll be curious to go back on a night when he's not working to see if the staff can perform on their own.

Winter devour week: A friend invited me to join for a meal and I had never heard of this place.. Let me first say I'm not a foodie... I arrived about 1pm on a Friday and lot was packed. (Small lot) Parking was not the best and I suggest car pooling or Uber/Lyft.. I had to park in an abandoned lot across college.. wasn't happy. This place is an locally sourced restaurant.. Even the lemonade... I had to add sugar.. and just wanted plain white sugar...nope.. I was kinda annoyed at this point but not their fault.. I was hungry and I wanted what I wanted... So we had the Honey Sriracha chicken bites and my mood changed.. they we're sweet with a little heat.. the Poblano salsa Burger was amazing.. so the the Bearclaw ice cream sandwich.. but I asked to use vanilla instead of chocolate... Service was amazing.. decor is great... If they work out the parking situation. Staff park somewhere else and fix the wobbly table top.. it would have my 5 star..

I wanted to like this place so bad but I was disappointed. I went there with a good friend for a lunch. The service was excellent. Our host and server were very nice. We had the kale chips. At first it was good, but it gave me a weird after taste, like too greasy. I had a salad and nothing special about it. I also ordered a small chicken quinoa soup that tasted very salty. Not sure if it was supposed to taste that way. I did not finish the soup at all.

We visited Next Door for the first time yesterday. We were quickly seated and received quick service from the server. Soon after, she notified us it was time for her to leave and introduced her replacement. We each ordered a burger. It didn't take long for our food to arrive, however, the price of the burger seems high to only receive chips as the side. The server delivered our check to the table and when he returned with the charge slip to sign, we saw the amount charged was greater than the check by $17.00. It took a few minutes to get the attention of the server and for him to correct the amount. When he did, he didn't explain how it was corrected or that he would need to run the card again. I think Next Door has potential but there are a few things that need to improve for us to give it another visit.

Really wanted to like this place. Food is good, but portion sizes are small. I got the 50/50 burger and it was the size of a small fast food burger. It looked lost on the huge bun. I actually don’t mind a small burger, but something was definitely off with the huge bun. We also ordered the crispy chicken bites and they were good but I would have rather paid a couple more dollars and gotten a few more. It really requires two orders to let three people get more than a bite. Again not a horrible thing, but just not what we were expecting.

I loved this place! While visiting family in Indy, they took me to this restaurant that had just opened up. It was so clean and busy and all the employees looked like they really enjoyed being there, made us feel really comfortable. The food was amazing, super fresh and flavorful, and our waiter was super attentive even with a packed house. I would absolutely visit again!! EDIT - we've gone again and enjoyed it just as much the second time around! The Chicken bowl was super good.

Wow! I am beyond impressed! We drove 40 minutes to try this place out because we saw it on Instagram and it was totally worth it. We will be coming back. We had 2 apps, 2 entries, and 2 teas between us and every single thing was delicious. Must try the Pickles and Pepperonis. The sauce is to die for. A new favorite for us in Indianapolis.
