The management are very friendly and professional. My husband and I had a good time there. Very good food and they are classic and affordable
Lotus Garden is still one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Greenwood area. Yes they are old but the quality of food is still fantastic. I ordered Kung Pao triple. Pork, chicken, and shrimp this came with fried rice, hot tea or coffee and a roll. I also ordered an egg roll. Still as good as ever. For less than $20.00.
Good food, good service, good prices. We have been going to Lotus Garden for almost 50 years. It is our 47th Anniversary so we enjoyed it there.
Always epic! Egg roll, best in town, service, great!! Food - amazing!! Look forward to going on Christmas and seeing all the out of state plates in the parking lot!
This place serves the best Chinese food I have ever had. Been eating here at least 50 years and my favorite dishes taste the same as they ever did.
Orange chicken was great
This Lotus Garden location has been here for decades, and it's starting to show. The interior is dated and is still the same from what I remember when I ate there in 1988. Not that it doesn't look good inside, but you can tell there's been very little reinvestment in the real estate. The food is still quite good though, as long as the buffet is fresh or you order off the menu. Quite a few of the dishes share a similar 'flavor' that suggests most of the food is prepared in/on the same surfaces/utensils without cleaning. I usually order the food very spicy, and they do that well. The eggrolls, the chow mein, and the bbq pork are all worth trying.
The staff is very friendly, the service was great, and the food was WONDERFUL. Reasonably priced, and a huge variety of menu options.
Lotus has been open for many years. Known for excellent reasonably priced food. Many say their egg rolls are the best. The buffet portion of the restaurant has gone down hill lately but the dining is still great.
We got the buffet and it was not good at all. There wasn't much on it and it wasn't very good. My standards for Chinese buffets isn't very high, maybe we came at a bad time.
Excellent food, excellent server! Kuddos to our server, Dustin, who did an awesome job waiting on 3 old ladies for a birthday celebration. Well 2 old ladies and a pre-senior citizen! Lol!
Excellent.
This restaurant has been one of my favorite since I was a kid! Unique atmosphere and a fun staff. The food is authentic and the American food is very good as well. This is also a great spot for wedding rehearsal dinners and special family gatherings.
The best Chinese food I've had. Not Chinese buffet food. Really good quisine, I especially love the Chicken Almond Ding.
The atmosphere was friendly and inviting the appetizers were hot and fresh. The egg rolls were really good. The only problem I had with my experience at l Lotus was my food was luke warm when it arrived and chilled by the time I got towards the end of eating it. The waitress was excellent and she asked me how everything was I told her my food was chilled but it was still very delicious.
I am never disappointed when I frequent this restaurant. They always have good food and good service.
Great food, excellent service. Food was on the table in a timely manner.
Very good food, good service. Restaurant needs deep cleaning along with with restroom. 4.5 stars after ckeaning
Always loved this place since my youth..try the Cantonese Shrimp Chow Mein, Egg Rolls, and Egg Foo Young...classics
Nice environment, cautious attendance and tasty delicious food
Excellent service and excellent food..
Best Chinese food around
First time eating at Lotus Garden. Great fast service. Some of the best General Tso chicken I've ever had.
Speaking only about the buffet side, it was absolutely horrible. If I could 0 stars I would. Don't waste you $10.75.
Great family meals and service
Prime rib is good, great pours in the bar
Screw you rem
It doesn't get much better. Been eating there since I was a little boy.
Always a fun and enjoyable experience! We went here on Christmas Day and this place was packed - but we still had wonderful food and great service.
General tso and crab rangoon i wasnt very impressed this place is very dated and my general tso is sweet and sour chicken in a general tso sauce really!?! If you think this is good chinese you need to get out more this is garbage
Great selection and pretty good service.
This is a sit down restaurant and it takes a little time to get the food, but it is delicious and served hot. Lunch special prices are fantastic. Will be returning again.
The food is fantastic and the staff is very friendly and caring
Always great food and great service.
Wonderful food, service, and staff. This is my family's all time favorite place for Chinese food. They have the best fried rice and egg rolls!
Great food and friends. Me and my boyfriend and his brother. Went to eat at last night
Good Lunch you will pay a tip
Great surprise find. Looks rough outside, but walking in shows that it is clean and well staffed. Service was great, cocktails impressive, and food delicious. Had American, American Chinese, and some authentic Chinese dishes.
Been going here for decades! Great meal and always great service. An icon place in Greenwood that serves really good chinese.
Buffet selection was small, price was ok and was clean environment
Great food, friendly serivce, great atmosphere and decor.
Good food & service
Greenwood Landmark! Great food at a reasonable price! Old school customer service!
Best Chinese food that I have had in a long time - the lunch was such a good value and the service exceptional.
Friendly,clean and food was delicious
The buffet side has a small selection that is pretty rough tasting. Definitely not a good meal. I DIDN'T TRY THE DINING SIDE AS THIS PLACE HAS 2 SIDES TO IT. Solely reviewing the buffet side. Wish it was better marked on the outside.
Great service! Excellent food.
Food and service are great. The hand made fried dumplings were delicious.
Visited a friend from out of town and he brought me here. I had General Tso chicken and it was amazing. The decor was old school and I loved it. A Koi pond at the entrance. This place is great.
I've came here from out of town for over 25 years! Delicious and beautiful atmosphere, excellent cocktails! Reasonable prices.
Greenwood's classic Chinese restaurant. Originally hailing from the midcentury tiki lounge era, much of the interior still reflects that aesthetic, with a bar menu to match (the rum cow is my favorite!) Still owned and operated by the same wonderful family that introduced Chinese food to the area. Unique food and atmosphere it's hard to find anywhere else.
Food is Very Very VERY Good!! The waiters are very friendly. Portions of food are a lot so bring an Army with you to eat. Buffet prices are very reasonable for very good food.
I have Loved Lotus Garden since I use to go to the one in Carmel and the one On Keystone and 42 cnd I believe. has always been good. Been going since I was 14 years of age and I am now 51. The Lotus Garden in Greenwood has always been Wonderful. The people there are always friendly, atmosphere is great. It is the best Chinese Food I believe I have ever had. THE Egg Rolls are The Best. The Rumaki is O M G sooooo good. I Love everyone there and there food is excellent, Period.
Food was subpar not very good at all I wouldn't recommend this place I have been to much better places such as Chinese buffet on Washington St in Indianapolis. Also if someone is not there to tell you what is happing when you walk in it is completely confusing we wonder around for 5 mins until this lady that didn't even work there came and told us what we needed to do it was so confusing and the food was bad 1 star for me wouldn't recommend.
The place was full of nostalgia takes you back in time the food is perfect so is the service and it's so romantic we loved it
We ate there tonight and the service was horrible, Not only was the food bad but they brought our meals out with other orders from other guests. And we had to wai for over an hour after we were sat. I would suggest avoiding this restaurant. Friendly staff but long wait times ecspecialy around Christmas.
This is the best place to eat in Greenwood I first ate there in 1966 And I will continue.
This is an excellent Chinese restaurant with a huge menu, traditional decor and a large friendly staff. I've come here for years on special occasions and my family has always loved it! I recommend it to anyone who'll listen.
One of my favorite Chinese places in their area.
The food was awful, I ordered sesame beef that looked like dog food and tasted equally bad. We went on Christmas. Waitress brought part of our order and part of another tables order. Our food when we got it was cold. I will never go back. Very disorganized, food and service awful
To anyone who is familiar with "American" Chinese food there is just no comparison to the flavors you experience at Lotus Garden. I love all Chinese food and in fact have 27 years experience in the food industry myself, and for those of you who recognize and appreciate the "wow" factor, Lotus Garden is in a class all buy themselves. What people say about the egg roles and other various favorites is true. What they say about memories over the last 40-50 years and how it hasn't changed are true. My grandmother, god rest her soul, introduced my sister and i to Chinese food in the late 1970's at an exotic place in Greenwood, Indiana called .... that's right - "Lotus Garden" and introduced us to a whole new world of flavors. To this day i cant stop thinking about the sweet and sour chicken, pork, and shrimp! NOBODY makes sweet and sour or egg roles like or as good as Lotus, period !! For those of you who have the audacity to say anything bad about Lotus, i'm sorry you don't get it. I'll write it in crayon next time - have a nice day and god bless Lotus Garden #WOW
Our favorite Chinese restaurant in Greenwood. We love the family dinner. They always let us trade out for the dishes we prefer,!
The food is great. Prices very good. Clean and best Chinese in Greenwood.
Always have loved them!
I went for the buffet..only 12 entrees so i turned around and walked out
Great food great service
Foodies might complain that this is not new "authentic" Chinese food. They're right, but that's why I love it. It's the old-fashioned Cantonese restaurant food of my childhood. I could not be happier than when I eat here. If food is memory, this brings me a place of to the best nostalgia. May they stay the same forever!
Old-school Chinese classics and decor. Fun, funky surviving slice of the 70s. Plus, great drinks at bargain prices if you're feeling festive.
Almost everything here seems to be made in house - it's fantastic! My new favorite Chinese place! Staff was also really great
This is the third year for our Christmas dinner. Each year reservations made in November. Same number of people 14 First year excellent service and food. We sat together. Second year 7 on one side of restaurant 7 on the other didn't get to sit as a family. This year the worst. Had to request to all be seated together. Reservations again made in November for 14. Ordered drinks and 7 appetizers. Four appitizers showed up. Waited 30 minute's for the other 3. Ordered our dinner. Waitress brought 4 meals, no rice, water glasses not filled tea and coke glasses not refilled Waited while others started eating They almost finished their meals by the time the next 5 meals came out. Rice finally showed up. Waited another 20 minutes 3 more came out. Still waiting on two meals. Finally had to stop the manager to get their food. Had to track down someone to refill tea and water glasses. Each time dinners were like warm. Each year spent over 350 dollars on the meal. Will look this next year for a new restaurant tradition.
I don't like to give Bad reviews but it's been a long time coming. We went there tonight for dinner. The waiter spills a entire drink on my daughter and son in law. The drink went onto both of their laps and my daughters cell phone. Ok, accidents happen. But one would expect a apology and severaI napkins. Maybe for the management to come over check on everything. Nope. He just moved us to another table and proceeds as if it didn't happen. I had to ask another person for napkins and explain why they were needed. Again no apology. Bill comes with only the drink taken off. I asked for at least a discount and had to explain why to the lady at the register. She says, after a pause.. Ah sorry...then takes off 10%. The least they could do considering my daughter and son in law sat through dinner with wet clothes. The last 3 or 4 times I have dined inside. The staff has been mechanical. No smiles, no personalty. It just makes you feel uncomfortable. The place needs to be updated and cleaned. Stains on the ceiling for years. The buffet section is always closed early. When it is open they hardly wait on you. The food is good, but from now on. I'll be ordering carry out!
I will say we had our third Christmas dinner at this restaurant, and unlike the 2015 and 2016 visits, this year was awful. Luke warm food, seated in buffet side of restaurant even though we had reservations for 5 pm (originally did not mind that, but it is like we were being cast aside by being seated in that area), inattentive waitress who brought us one roll each on individual plates instead of a basket of rolls, and motioned for me to get my own refill behind a counter when asked. She was rarely around. Yes, they were busy, but I drove 2.5 hours to enjoy a holiday meal with a family member and a friend and we all were very disappointed. Were they having an off night? Maybe. Were they over crowded and understaffed? Yes. But, if you own this place and do this each year, you prepare for this. My guess is we will have to do something else next year.
Service, food, atmosphere... What else could you ask for?
Best egg rolls EVER! Really good pork fried rice! Super good won ton soup! Excellent egg Foo young. Thick juicy prime rib. They even make tasty liver & onions. Some what "Americanized" dishes, mostly. They've been at it for ever. Been going there since I was a kid. First Chinese restaurant I remember. Waitresses always remember you even if you haven't been in for a year. Building is old & not the cleanest. Honestly, if I saw their kitchen, I probably wouldn't want to eat there, but that's probably true for most restaurants. Eating in cafe side is much cheaper than the restaurant side & they offer buffet.
What i love about this place is that it hasnt changed since daddy used to take me there when i was little. Such great memories and the food and service are both excellent!
One of my favorite places on the south side! They have been around for years and are doing things the same way. Value is unmatched. Drinks are great, and very well priced. Will continue to eat here as long as they are open.
Good food like the Chinese food I remember from my youth.
Very good excellent service
Went for buffet. The food is good. Not a huge selection. The buffet section seems really "segregated".
Fantastic atmosphere and service. Very attentive. Food was killer. Had the Prime rib stir-fry and was seasoned great and the Prime rib was extremely tender.
I do enjoy the food here, but it's not much to write home about. The staff is usually very friendly and they do a good job. The restaurant is split in half, so one side is an all you can eat buffet and the other is a sit down and be served area. You do get a lot of food for your money, though, but I will warn you that I've been warned away from the buffet (though I haven't tried it myself).
Good food. Friendly service
Last time ever eating here caught employee touching food with bare hand right out front by cashier gross.
Always good food and great service!
This place is amazing. Food is cheap, drinks are cheap, and the portions for both are amazing. The staff is super friendly and inviting. Great place to go for date night or just out with friends.
I hate to say this because, I have been coming to this place and loving it for years. Not so long ago, it was the best Chinese for miles. Sad to say no longer. Food is hit and miss now, and sometimes just awful. Service can be slow as well. Worst of all the place is so run down and dirty, I don't enjoy eating in there at all. I hope they can bring it back.
To the point. No interaction with servers. Food good. Medium is not medium. No hottness to it at all. I asked for med hot. Don't think they knew how to do it. I would get hot next time
Good Chinese dine in place.
The atmosphere was really nice. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Many varieties of dishes. For those who aren't in the mood for Chinese, there are options like Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, and Burgers.
Food was excellent. Very fresh,0 hot. Hit all the Mark's. Been around a long time and you see why.
Very disappointed food no flavor no variety most tables had dirty dishes on them
Your mom's Chinese restaurant in the best sense.
Lotus is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Midwest. They have well prepared hot (temp) traditional Asian dishes. Also have the best Egg Rolls. We go there often. SINCE 1990.FOR US. We'll established restaurant since 1980s.
4 of us had lunch there today, tuesday, from the buffet......the food was barely warm....no steam coming from tables at all.....very disappointed....
Always great food and friendly service
I have literally been eating here for 50 years. Best egg rolls on the planet.
The sit down dinner is delicious. Generous portions. Fun atmosphere. Dont know about the buffet side.
We went here just trying out a new place and I was pleasantly surprised. The feel of the restaurant, as soon as you walk in, is so much more inviting than any other Chinese restaurant we've been to. The shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup, and orange chicken were all superb! It's probably lame, but I was mostly excited about the shrimp fried rice because they actually put bean sprouts in it!!!!! Anyway, definitely going to be going back. Loved it.
This is a lovely place to go for family meals, date night or to pick up something to-go. We especially love their Cantonese Pan-Fried Noodles dishes and their Sesame Chicken, along with their potstickers and egg rolls. The staff are very attentive and friendly to top off a wonderful dining experience!
Good food, polite and friendly servers.
No stars this place is very disgusting
Classic scrappy American Chinese food. A Hoosier tradition for over 50 years.
Great service and good food.
Love, love, love. Legit real life cocktail bar. Try the Rum-Cow.
Really recommend if you're looking for authentic Chinese food that is still friendly to American tase....
Food is SO GOOD! Service is fair and it could be a great date night spot. LET US has been here a very long tume and you can see the history in the decor.
Love Love been going to Lotus for at least over 30 years the best so is May she is the best!! Known her very long time and my friends my kids love it too the best!!!
Not terrible. The orange chicken was very fresh and crispy. The oranges that were part of the dish were very fresh and juicy.
Our favorite Chinese place. Has a buffett during the week. Nice menu with a variety to fit everyone's taste.
I felt like I stepped back in time to an old school Chinese restaurant where you get so many servers that all make you feel welcome. One person seats you, a different person takes your drink order, with a cocktail waitress checks for any alcoholic beverages, followed by your food server. It took me back to my childhood when my parents, God rest their souls, would take us out for sit-down Chinese food. The food was excellent.
Started going here when I was a kid before I-65. Stopped in on our way down 31 to Florida. Food is still great and the service is outstanding.
Whenever we visit family in Indianapolis we make a point to eat here several times. Food here is plentiful and delicious! Price is modest when you realize how big your order is. You won't ever leave here hungry!! Service is outstanding, our server-Angel was very attentive without being overbearing. Did a fantastic job of keeping our sodas refilled, removed empty dishes promptly and made we were too full enjoy dessert! Love this place! As always, we'll be back!
Excellent food, flavorful and delicious, many different dishes Chinese, szechuan, Cantonese, and American...over 40 years that I know of, great for any occasion
Good food
good rumaki...no other restaurant has this item!
It was fabulous wonderful food and atmosphere...our waiter Eman was excellent couldn't ask for better service!!
If you want authentic and homemade Chinese food, this is definitely the best place!! Egg rolls are amazing, our dinners were excellent, waiter was very nice. It is hard to find quality Chinese food around the city, but this is definitely a great place!
Food and service were good. Buffet was basically empty..said they would put more out and never did.manager was very rude!
Their food is delicious. The server was very nice. It was a very good dining experience and one of my favorite places to eat.
We love to go through food is always excellent and the staff there are fantastic
My food was cold... Took 30 minutes to get food. Only a couple other customers. We specifically ask about buffet.... They not say word... We finish outside at other end of building it had sign Buffet. Unethical.
not fancy to look at, but the food was very very good and fresh
I love this place. It's been the same forever and the staff is like next level nice. The drinks here are fantastic and very cheap. I recommend it to all friends, family, and associates. The food is good and very reasonably priced. It's hard to have a bad time here. They make you feel appreciated and can be very talkative. I go here just about two times a month and enjoy seeing all the people there. This is a must visit place in Greenwood.
Lotus Garden USED to be a great place to eat. The number one waitress is STILL working there. Her name is Mae. She is phenomenal! She remembers what you like to drink and eat. There is a buffet that leaves a LOT to be desired. From the very beginning of when they opened the buffet is has been unremarkable. The cleanliness of the restraunt is very poor as well. The manager needs to be replaced or whatever it would take to bring this restraunt to a much better condition. In my opinion, their egg rolls are the best around. I've tried egg rolls at many other Chinese Restraunts, In other States too. However none of them can even come close to Lotus. So you see, there are still some positives about eating there.
We were eating. The food was good but we had to ask for the tea that came with the meal. Marie had finished eating but I had not when the waiter took my plate and food away to put it in a carton. I still had a roll to eat and had no plate or silver except a knife left. I sat the roll on top of the food carton to keep from having to put it on the bare table. He brought the tea and I had no spoon to stir it. I used the dirty knife. We definitely felt pushed out of the restaurant. It was not a good feeling.
Yummy food! Great service! Friendly Staff! Good time with family! What more could you ask for.
Quick service, fantastic food.
Very good and relaxing. Worth the visit
Awesome authentic Chinese food reasonable prices on the buffet good service
They treat customers like family here. Best TCM food with large servings and extensive menu. There is separate buffet dining.
Extremely friendly and authentic
I've eaten here several times over the years. The food is always delicious, and the customer service is fantastic. I will definitely be making a return trip as much as possible.
Everything was absolutely excellent
I have been going here all my life. Always nice people always wonderful food.
Food was not fresh , the sauces are not fresh , the waiter is extremely rude !! Had a Worst Experience!!
Much better than the buffet side. The food was delicious. I had the chefs special and kind of question the freshness of it. However the appetize crab rangoon i ordered was spot on and fresh.
My family and I have been enjoying Christmas Day at Lotus Garden for the last 8 years. However today might be the last. We sat down at 1:00 and finally left at 3:30. Waiting 20 mins for anyone to even take our drink order. Then finally when we received our entrees it wasn’t even Hardly warm. They were definitely under staffed for their biggest day of the year ☹️
Was my favorite Chinese Restaurant until I read Johnson Country Board of Health inspection reports!
Very good service. People are always super nice. Food is delicious. Egg rolls are the best!
We always enjoy ourselves whilst dinning at Lotus Garden. Whether we're alone or having one of our Class Dinners here, their entire staff as well as the beautiful and unique motif make for a very comfortable and sumptuous repast!
Best egg rolls anywhere. Been going there since I was a child many years ago.
I asked for extra spicy General Tso's and I got extra spicy. Very good!
We showed up at 1:00 on a Sunday and the buffet was sparse selection, most of the food had sat out far too long and noodles and rice were like rubber. Crab legs were over cooked. When they brought fresh food out they just dumped it on top the old dried up stuff and mixed it together. Eeeew. Probably the worst Chinese I’ve ever had and I’m not that picky.
A Southside favorite for decades, and well-deserved, given it's fresh, delicious food, generous portions, and fun, retro decor.
It's the best place to get a great eggroll, but be sure to go to the restaurant side for their signature drink the Navy Grog.
It has been awhile since I have eaten here, and it still looks same on inside. Food was really good tho and big portions especially considering the very reasonable price. They cover your food with a silver top to keep it warm, very good ideal. Our waitress was very friendly and didn't have to ask for anything. Overall very pleased and recommend this place, would be better if they updated it and got rid of stinky fish in entrance...but maybe that's how they keep their prices low.
Speaking only for the buffet, it SUCKED. It is probably the worst buffet ive ever ate. The food on the buffet was old, cold, and nasty. I had to ask for fresh noodles, the shrimp dish looked like it had been on the bar all day, just plain nasty. Dont waste your money. That said the restaurant may be good i dont know about that.
We went there over a month ago (sit down restaurant side) right before our vacation and enjoyed everything! The portion sizes, food and atmosphere was lovely!
.My favorite Chinese restaurant. Some of my first memories are of dinner at Lotus Garden with my family (50 + years). Delicious food, great service and the best egg rolls that you will ever eat.
My favorite egg roll place ever! Jimmy, Jeff, Joe, Sean, Ken & Wendy are all super efficient! Can't wait to go back again & again.
My first visit. The food and service are fantastic. Best wonton soup I've ever had in my life! Great friendly service. Multi-generational family business full of regular customers who have been coming here for many decades. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I am eager to return here with my wife.
The original Southside chinese restuarant, there's a reason they're still around. Could use new coat of paint though
Bad 1st time experience. Even the check was added incorrectly.
Very good food, reasonable prices and great service. I've lived nearby for years and should have tried sooner!
Very cool place
Spicey wontons, generals chicken, house lo mein and ham fried rice! Excellent meal and great service as always!!
Always courteous service and good food at a fair price.
