REVIEWS OF Longfei Chinese Restaurant IN Indiana

All the Chinese students come here for real Chinese food, and for good reason. They have several different styles of Chinese cuisine and they do a great job of being authentic to each one. Service is great, and they speak both Chinese and English. It's a very cozy restaurant converted from a house. When school is in session, the restaurant is pretty lively. If you're not comfortable with traditional Chinese food, they also have the American stuff (orange chicken, etc). This is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants in Indiana!

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food this is the place and for pickier eaters, they have an American Chinese menu section. The food tastes great and portions sizes are great for sharing/family style. The service is good, but they seem understaffed on the server side of things, so you may have a bit of a wait, but if you do t mind waiting a little longer for food, it's a great place to go for dinner or lunch.

We love this place! Always lots of Asian students dining there, which is a recommendation in and of itself. Our party isn't adventurous enough (yet) to order from the extensive traditional side of the menu, but the American versions are so good, we will get there, eventually. One funny thing, however: on two separate occasions, what we ordered and what we got were different things. Last time, for example, one of us ordered General Tso's chicken and another ordered Szechuan chicken. The dishes served were identical, except for a sprinkling of sesame seeds on one plate. On a prior occasion, the dish served (Hunan chicken) varied significantly from what had been served on other occasions, and was very different from the Hunan pork another of our party had ordered. Not sure whether the errors were the fault of the waitress or the kitchen, but it is a bit disconcerting to order one thing and get something else, even if both are delicious. (Note: We have not had that experience when the owner took our orders.) That aside, the place is very clean, service is always quick and attentive, if not always accurate, and the food is excellent. Bonus: leftovers!

I liked how this restaurant differentiated between American Chinese food and authentic Chinese food. The food was delicious.

This place had 5 stars from 22 reviews on Yelp and they weren't kidding. Absolutely excellent food and great service. Will absolutely be eating here again!

Love this place! The owner is super friendly and always willing to give recommendations. My brother and I go here about every other week and we almost always get sauteed potatoes with green pepper and eggplant or eggplant with brown sauce.

Rebecca Townsend

Shanghai Braised Bok Choy and authentic Chinese vibe make this a vacation to China without leaving Downtown Bloomington.

The hot and sour soup was amazing! Service was good. The place is clean. I didn't love the chicken pad thai but we liked the sesame chicken.

I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could. I really like their food and options. I think the menu is bilingual. They have a good mix of American Style and Authentic Chinese dishes.

So authentic! We live in Chicago where good Chinese restaurants are all over. To find a good one in Bloomington is quite a surprise. The steam buns are freshly made. The braised pork belly just melt in mouth with all the juicy taste. Beef fried rice is very tasty too. Good service and clean dining hall. Definitely will come back!

Longfei is delicious and the manager (maybe also owner?) is very friendly. I've tried the General Tso's chicken, Szechuan chicken, Szechuan beef, and braised pork belly and bok choy, all of it tasty and appropriately portioned for the price (a $12 entree and a side dish could very easily feed two people). The steamed pork dumpling and crab Rangoon are also perfect, and they have a variety of juice and milk tea (with or without boba)! Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants Bloomington has to offer. Don't sleep on it!

Spacious dining room bustling with laughing students enjoying authentic Chinese specialties. The service is friendly and fast. The food is amazing, but the heat levels, are also authentic. Wow! The portions are big and prices good.

I really liked the Chinese menu items over the American-Chinese. The meat was especially slow-cooked tender. The bubble milk tea was a delicious treat. I had the Taro flavor.

Great food. Best general taos in town. Had dinner on Friday night with a total of 7 people. The owner, Mr. Zhoa came out to our table and offered some suggestions, which we accepted along with our usuals. Service was great and quick. Great bubble tea. Great location just off Kirkwood.

The food was good, but the service is kinda slow. Or maybe I just felt that because I was starving when I got there!

I will start my review off by saying I’m not the biggest Chinese food fan (or I guess what you could consider “American” Chinese food). However, Longfei has definitely changed my mind! First of all, the restaurant is very clean inside. The menu is huge and has two sections: one for “American” Chinese food and one for authentic Chinese food. The staff are very friendly and the owner came to our table and suggested some authentic Chinese dishes for our group. He was extremely friendly and I loved how he was able to give us suggestions based on what meat/vegetables we wanted. I ordered the shrimp with tofu and it was delicious and filling. The portions are enormous so come hungry and expect leftovers, but the restaurant also encourages family-style eating if that’s more your speed. Everyone at my table seemed to really enjoy their dishes and I definitely look forward to my leftover tofu & shrimp. Definitely try one of their bubble teas, too! I am excited to come back here.

If you like lip-tinglingly spicy Chinese food, this is the place to go! That three chilli beef dish is superb!

Had one of the most satisfying meals in a long time today. Ordered rice noodles with tofu and sweet potato soup. Also tried a friend's gizzard and it was magnificent! Spicy, healthy portions, and such great company by our man working the counter and waiting on us. Can't wait to be back for more. Oh, and plenty of tea to go around!

One of my friends and my favorite restaurants. The menu is split into an American Chinese section and Authentic Chinese section so you can decide how brave you are, and the owner is a great guy.

Samantha Richards

Smelled delicious, staff were SUPER friendly, and the restaurant had a very nice presentation!

Ethan DeMent

My Chinese buddy brought me here. He said it's authentic and indeed it is nothing like the Americanized Chinese food. It was delicious, the food portions were superb, there was unlimited rice and a good variety of tea with Bob's. Also it has the American Chinese food if you are bringing a friend who just wants General Tso's or whatever.

As soon as we walked up to the door, they opened the door for us and welcomed us. The place was absolutely beautiful! We were seated and ordered crab Rangoon. It was the best I've ever had. Finally our food came, and the evening was topped with a bow. I highly recommend.

I'm not the biggest fan of Chinese food, but workers here always make me want to come back. They are extremely nice and friendly. I got general tso chicken today and it was amazing. I'm not used to Authentic Chinese food so I always go for American Chinese, but I praise them for having both American and Authentic Chinese menus for people to choose from. The service was amazing and I was very satisfied with my food as well. The atmosphere is nice and it's never too crowdy. It's a nice place to go on a date or just to eat and relax with friends. Plus if you like Chinese food, their menu has plenty to choose from :)

My first impression of this place was fabulous. The owner, staff, and management was accommodating. They made sure to make me feel at home. This rare treasure of a place is beautiful. The food was delicious as well as the bubble tea. I highly recommend going here. The fish fillet with crab roe is amazing on the tastebuds!

Just a word of warning, the 3 cup chicken is made from chopped chicken wings, so for $11.99 you receive a container of bone and skin, with little to no meat. I asked the owner if 80% bone was normal the next morning, he stated ," yes, bone and skin." He was the one who stated "it was made from chopped chicken wings" on the phone. I was originally thinking maybe, end of the night, they scooped what was left in the bottom of a pot, the bones and skin and served it to me by accident, but after speaking with him realized this is their standard fare served unabashed, with no apologies. Literally every piece of meat was a chunk of bone with a tiny remnant of meat attached on the edge. I ended up filling the pint container the rice came in almost completely full with the bones I recieved. This was unacceptable in my opinion, and after asking several Chinese exchange students if this was traditional Chinese cooking was told unanamously that they also would have found it unacceptable. I hope that this was a mistake they don't want to own up to, irregardless their customer service was found to be incredibly lacking and response to my complaint reprehensible. In response to owners reply. I wasn't upset that the chicken came with bones, but rather the bones came without any chicken. I would have gotten more meat from one chicken leg from KFC, then I did with your entire meal. We also eat meat with bones in america, I'd be just as annoyed if I ordered BBQ and recieved a plate of bones without any meat on them . Then told not recommended if your not familiar with Texas BBQ.

I've been on the search for a good (American) Chinese restaurant and this came close. The staff was very nice, greeted me and noted my water getting empty providing a refill. I love egg drop soup and this was the best one yet that I've had in Bloomington. I ordered an eggroll as well as the beef and broccoli, I asked about the mixed vegetables and I believe the owner told me I'd be more happy with the beef and broccoli. They brought out 2 eggrolls that were steaming hot and delicious. The beef and broccoli were tender and cooked just right, also added were peppers and onions which was a nice touch. Once I was done they gave me a farewell. I will be returning.

Really good teas. I had the pineapple tea. No boba. And the steamed pork buns. I love Chinese buns and wish they were more common. Both items where really tasty.
