Delicious croissant brought back memories from trip to France. Kind and loving service with beautiful tableware, great ambience, amazing coffee and food. Love the timer! Will come back everytime! Highly recommend!

Julie Harper

Wonderful food, atmosphere and drinks. Service was great. Highly recommend!! They even have a walk up window so you can get things on the go.

Everything was perfect. I shared lunch with a colleague on the suggestion that this was her favorite place in Bloomington. I completely understand why. The outgoing staff was very gracious and they ordered for me. The corn chowder was fantastic. The large French press was on par with single origin coffees by Hopscotch and my blue cheese, onion, and mushroom quiche was delightful. The crust on the pastry dessert reminded me of my grandma's cookies. I thoroughly enjoyed this meeting and unique taste of our culture in Bloomington. I can't wait to share this experience again with others.

Great little French Cafe. Great coffee and staff. They brought out water for our dog on the back patio. You can practice your French with the staff as well. I do wish they had later hours sometimes.

Very cute and quaint place with good food, especially the breakfast. The pastry items are high quality, and the coffee is amazing. The employees are really nice, and are also understanding with those who can't pronounce French food names.

I read wonderful reviews about La Vie en Rose, and its friendly owner, from France. La Vie ....is quaint, smaller than I imagined . More importantly the menu was very limited. If you desire a " meal", I wouldn't recommend going here. Bottom line; over priced considering the portions served. As far as the service, our waitress was very nice. When she asked me how is everything I was honest. When the owner came into the restaurant, I could tell she was aware of what Id said and I didn't care for the sour look when she glanced my way. Maybe she was having a bad day......regardless , No concerned response. I was told by my neighbors La Petit Cafe , a few doors down , serves wonderful provincial , cuisine. They say they, I won't walk away hungry......

Delightful atmosphere, wonderful fare, fun and courteous staff. Price is pretty reasonable for what you get, but it IS a sit-down establishment, so don't be expecting fast-food prices.

I have really liked visiting here, I don't recall there being too many options but they have great pastries and quiche. I think it's worth going and the service is by far superior to that other french place.

Best place in Bloomington for a classic French breakfast or lunch. Can get anything to go except coffee, it's a cozy environment with an incredible staff.

Bruce Andis

Had the sweet onion quiche. Another in our party had crepes, and a third ordered macaroons. All yummy and the staff was friendly and solicitous.

Harriet Kulis

Knowledgeable staff, tasty food, delicious coffee. This is a culinary delight of French food

Dawn Cartwright

Cute, seat yourself cafe. Mushroom bacon quiche was very good. Only suggestion was a small orange twist or strawberry garnish would have made it a better presentation other than just the quiche on the dish. Friendly staff. Loved the sugar cubes instead of packets on the table.

Love this little patisserie cafe. I've visited twice so far. Everything is freshly made with quality ingredients. Arguably, this is the only place in Bloomington with proper cake though Irish Lion, the Tap, and Feast have good cake too. The sweets and baked goods here are tasteful, not too sweet, not too buttery. I love the macaroons. I do wish it was a little more affordable $6 a slice of strawberry cake, $2.75 per macaroon (as of March 30, 2018), but it is middle of Indiana and great food so I'm all for supporting this piece of Parisian heaven.

Relaxed atmosphere, great coffee and tea, delicious food. So far I have eaten a choco croissant that was buttery, flakey, and had just the right amount of chocolate. I also ate a large slice of quiche made with salmon. The seats are comfortable, and the tables are large enough to accommodate a laptop. French music plays over the speakers. While there, I overheard several customers speaking in French. The bathrooms were clean. There is on street parking, but it is also located one block from the B-Line and next to Bloomingfoods West.

I appreciate the authentic French vibes from this little Patisserie. It's a bit expensive, but the cafe is cozy, the food is great, and I enjoy the atmosphere. This is a place where I would catch up with friends, not do homework or study.

Such a lovely place! My friends and I had a wonderful afternoon tea meet up here. The french press coffee was delicious and the tea was fragrant. The croissant I had was a flaky buttery goodness, baked to perfection. My friend loved her chocolate-filled croissant, it looked pretty amazing as well. The chocolate cake (gluten free) we shared was very good with very pleasant texture. I am excited to come and sample some more! I definitely highly recommend the place to anyone who likes yummy desserts.

Gracious French owner, great staff and an absolutely delightful menu and ambiance. Best croissant I have ever had, great coffee and wonderful quiche with a flaky delicate crust.

Amanda Nagy

A charming, quaint little spot for pastries! I went here for a late breakfast this morning and was not disappointed. The atmosphere is cozy and has cute decor. We ordered a small French press but we probably should’ve gotten the large one because the coffee was amazing! I ordered the asparagus and tomato quiche while my fiancé ordered a crepe with jam and a chocolate croissant. Service was quick and the staff are friendly. The quiche was delicious, as was the chocolate croissant. We ended up getting a plain croissant and two macarons to go. The macarons (vanilla and raspberry) were very yummy. The croissant was so buttery and flaky I ended up with crumbs all over my sweater - a sign of a great croissant! I will certainly be coming back.

A cute, quite cafe. Very friendly staff, and the food is delicious! Rotating selection of quiches, lots of pastries, and a daily soup.

Autumn Mitchell

Oh it's yummy - I've went several times now and have loved every pastry I have tried. Their macarons are the right texture, their croissants are flaky and their quiche just yummy! All the pastries are made fresh in house. I finally made it in for Sunday crepes which were amazing with the chestnut cream! They were already made when we ordered which we weren't expecting. They still tasted good though! The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the french lemonade - we got blood orange and thought it was made in house but it was a bottled soda kind of thing. I wouldn't recommend it personally. But we loved the teas! We also tried the french toast which was very yummy with custard poured on top. It's affordable, lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly.

First visit - had a delicious, strong Americano and an appetizing butternut squash curry soup. Cute, bright cafe with a delightful owner and staff. Happy I dropped by. Will be back for some pastries and coffee :-)

La Vie en Rose is a small French cafe that offers a variety of tasty treats. If this review was based on food alone it would absolutley be five stars. Same goes for the overall atmosphere, it's cozy and I love the mismatched plates and water jugs. However there were a few things that really threw me for a loop. One is the entrance, there is a short, steep, cracked ramp going in with a doorbell that says "ADA accessible ring the bell". I don't know what this could possibly mean as the only other entrance is several inches off the ground and blocked from the inside. This in combination with the fact that they have no dementia friendly certification makes me suspicious as to what would happen if the bell was rang. Furthermore there is a sign on the counter that says something to the effect of "In France the tip is included with the bill, we are not in France, please tip as it is your server's wages". I want to make it clear that I have no problem tipping but the high prices made me assume that the workers were being paid a livable wage. It also makes me feel like they, as in many places, are being paid below minimum wage with the expectation that the tips will compensate this. Overall very offputting.

Lovely little French Cafe', started/run by non-Amerikans, WONDERFUL quiche/salad and *especially* the HOT COCOA!!! My order came promptly, everything was as requested and *delicious*, the cost was very reasonable, the service great... absolutely NOTHING to complain about!!!
