I had a really terrible experience here, which is a shame because it seemed like such a great place to dine in. No one was rude to me or anything like that. I ordered one of the gnocchi items and it was literally nothing more than cheese baked over pieces of gnocchi. There was no beef in the dish or seasoning, I wouldn't have bought it had I known it would have been worse than a microwavable meal, it was a real shame. The soup I had beforehand was decent however, which helped make up for it. Also, we had made a reservation but a group larger than us that came in later had their food first, and our waiter/waitress seemingly disappeared earlier for around 15 minutes, I'm not sure what happened. They were perfectly nice but I was hoping for better service given the restaurants perceived quality, not to mention the prices. I don't doubt this is a good place to eat if you don't order the gnocchi and get better service. I also came in on the weekend, so maybe I just got screwed during a busy service, which happens.

We're not sure who is writing the reviews for this restaurant, by saying how good the food and service are- maybe people who are unfamiliar with Italian food generally. Our family cooks Italian food and we have dined at many places across many states and countries. Anyway, the food is mediocre at best and bland at worst. The restaurant emphasizes that they grow their own food- maybe so, but it lacks flavor. My wife and I ordered a linguini pasta dish with squash and a seafood gnocchi dish. My dish seemed to lack herbs and no amount of shredded cheese added could restore the flavor I had hoped for. My wife's dish was a lump of dough and mozzarella cheese with very few shrimp. Serving staff did not seem to know what minestrone soup is. Food was pretty pricey for how unflavorful it was. As with Italian food in the Lafayette, IN area generally- avoid, avoid, avoid.

Excellent service. Excellent food. We ordered calamari for an appetizer and wow, it was the best I've ever had. Very tender. Everyone in my group got a different meal and everyone was very pleased with the quality and portion sizes. I personally got the fettuccine alfredo, which was very creamy and tasty. Highly recommend!

Absolutely terrific food, as always! John was our server tonight - top notch service. My son said the lasagne was “the best!” (Second only to his stepdads) We all shared the flourless chocolate torte for dessert - and it was ... amazingly delicious and totally decadent.

Fancy place and amazing food. Not your typical Italian restaurant. Olive Garden is about a 6/10, this place is more like an 8 or 9.

I am new to town and visited La Scala for the first time. My visit was during lunch hour. The service was great, not over bearing but attentive. I loved the atmosphere of the older building. I would have chose to sit outside if not for the wind. It has a nice looking patio. I ordered and Italian Mojito and the daily special of sauteed chicken with artichoke and gnocchi and other delicious flavors. It was amaaaazing. I will definitely be back and already looking forward to trying the other dishes La Scala has to offer.

Excellent service and the food was phenomenal. They are willing to customize your meal for you so you get what you want. The outdoor area was relaxing and great for our date night. The limoncello martini was perfect and would highly recommend!

Stopped in while in Lafayette last Saturday. It had been about 3 years since our last visit. I will say it was just as delicious as it was then. Prices are great as we paid what we would typically pay to to another restaurant back home in Indy. Food was delicious and I found a great wine. Just wish I could remember what it was called. If you are looking for a good place to eat after getting off the train or if your in town for a visit be sure to stop by La Scala.

Great food along with good gluten free choices as well for the meal and dessert. Good service at lunch. They also said a previous menu item could be made if they had the ingredients since they switch up choices regularly.

The stars are not for the food but rather the service /experience. I was seated and waited about 8 minutes to be acknowledged by a server. I watched many different servers walk past my table none of which asked if I had been helped. The appetizers and meals were ordered again the food tastes great! We ordered a bottle of wine over $100 and when the server brought food out to our wobbly table the bottle dropped to the floor. He never apologized or even said a word to a manager. It was a disappointing experience.

Excellent food and service. They'll even make you your favorite discontinued menu item from there if they have the ingredients! I got the pollo allegro last week despite its being off the menu for months.

Wonderful service from our waitress from menu selection to boxing up our food. The chef is good and makes each dish his own. Not too pricey for a good meal. Nice atmosphere, music isn't too loud but enough to create a warm atmosphere.

I don't give too many 5 star reviews, but I felt La Scala deserved it. I met Paco and his wife years ago when I was working for a car dealership and they invited me to have dinner at their restaurant. Ever since then, I have come back year after year and have never been disappointed in the food, wine selection, or atmosphere. It is a wonderful Italian restaurant which is more authentic than the typical chain style restaurants. If you're looking for a special place to have dinner with a loved one, I don't think you'd go wrong bringing them here. During the good weather months, they even have outdoor seating.

Pretty standard Italian place. Came here for lunch and was a bit disappointed with the house salad. I also ordered the bacon grilled cheese which was quite good. The atmosphere and the service was excellent.

Eat outside if you can. Wait staff was attentive, but not aggressive and the courses were paced well for a relaxed meal. A good selection of wines and spirits.

My wife and I were visiting from out and we like to try local family restaurants. I located this gem on Google. Made reservations online and the entire experience, except for parking, was wonderful. The service was spectacular and the food even better. When I got the bill I was pleasantly surprised how reasonable it was for such a fantastic meal. We will visit again when we make our annual visit to the Lafayette area.

Food was “OK”, my Lasagna platter is never hot, only warm. The server, Claudia was outstanding. Really knew the menu, very attentive, was always there just as we needed anything. She made an otherwise lackluster meal special.

Had a large party. Treated us like children with no respect and terrible service. They charged for things we didn’t have and even asked us to leave because we were going to sit for a while. I’m 99 percent sure I heard the waiter say stuff about us and it was a terrible experience. On top of that the food was terrible. Meatballs tasted like dog food the soup was disgusting and the Mac and cheese was like plastic. Terrible!!!
