It started out great, the nachos were amazing. The fish tacos on corn tortillas were awful. I have never had bad fish tacos until now. The fried ice cream was just ok. My husband said it tasted like the rolled the ice cream in frosted flakes. There was no cinnamon involved, and they doused it in whip cream, strawberry sauce and chocolate sauce. Then, you pay at the front, which is fine. Except that that counter is also where you wait to be seated and where you put in and pick up a take-out order. There was a small amount of chaos for 7 minutes until things were sorted out. My husband had been there before and loved the chimichangas, but it's going to take some convincing to get me to go back.

Ambience was relaxing, service was excellent. Got the ranchero fajitas for two (24.99) which come with shrimp, chicken, pork, and chorizo. We each had a serving of rice and beans, guac, salad for toppings, three tortillas each and sour cream. We were stuffed and still had enough for like six more tacos! No joke! Will come again!

This was my second time coming here and it was just as good as the first. You have to try the Texas Nachos. They has steak, chicken and shrimp meats on it and the cheese is so good. They are not skimpy with the portions either. The waiter was eight on time with the refills and clearing dishes. Nothing bad to say about this place. The alcoholic beverages are huge and you get your money's worth. We always leave with leftovers. Better than any Mexican restaurant that I have ever had.

The place was a beautifully decorated with Christmas decor. The food was ok Inordered the chicken quesadillas they were ok. My girlfriend ordered steak and didn't like it. They took out back and made it just how she wanted. The service was A1. place us kind of like a Pepe's but nicer. I will be back.

Tortilla chips were thin and bright yellow. I can buy more authentic chips at the grocery store. The queso was runny and unappetizing. Won't return.

OMG...today was my first time at LaCarretta and I was just overwhelmed with the food and drinks. My daughter had been there a few times and she was telling our family how delicious the food was. I had been to several Mexican restaurants around the area and I was disappointed with the food and drinks. But after being here has changed my whole mindset, I will be recommending La Carreta to all my family and friends. And this is my favorite place to go. And last but definitely not least the Waiter we had was so friendly and polite. I highly recommend this restaurant for great service and quality food and drinks.

60 ounce margaritas and strong too! The food was really delicious and I will be back for more. Highly recommend the bar seating if only a small group. The wait staff wasn't the most attentive but everything was provided in a timely manner. Enjoyed myself and will return.

Good experience overall. Nicely decorated. House salsa was very good. I had the shrimp and chicken quesadilla and it was very good. Had to ask for more rice since what came on my plate looked like only a spoonful. Margarita was good too

I love, love, love Mexican food!!! Ate here for the first time and the food was amazing... I had the Texas Nacho, which came with fresh tortilla chips, chicken, steak, shrimp(yes you can substitute the meat), guacamole, sour cream, etc... There's enough to either share it with someone or take what toy can't finish home with you...

Tortilla broke easily, margaritas are pre made, not frozen, yet watery. Rice is made with a chile flavor and refried beans tasted funny. Service was good. Carnitas tasted flavorless, in thick pieces, not soft, stringy at best

The food was excellent.we split the El Trio Ensalata. It was large enough for two people with plenty of shrimp, chicken, beef, and veggies. The guacamole was delicious and the chips and salsa hit the spot. We also had a wonderful Margarita on the Rocks, but the true highlight of the whole experience was our server. He was spot on and really made for a remarkable experience. My only regret was not getting his name for this post.

Omg this place is great!! The Texas nacho is the best ever! The beef and chicken is tender, the shrimp was not over cooked, the queso is great and the salsa and chips is everything! The dining area is always festive , the prices are reasonable, and the portions are enough! We not gonna start on the huge colorful but strong drinks!

So I'm currently here and I notice the atmosphere is really nice and a variety of people come here which is awesome, however I am kinda feeling a little discriminated against. The reason being is that our waiter looked at us while ordering our food at the table in English and then says what you don't speak Spanish?! I'm like yeah but I continued to order in English and it's like he coped an attitude with us and then while my wife is ordering her food, mind you today is her birthday he like shrugs and stands there tapping his feet like he's in a hurry to leave our table soley because we didn't really speak much Spanish to him. Now, mind you there are white folks and black folks here whom are getting great service not speaking Spanish but I feel like discriminated against. In addition the food here is not fresh it's actually frozen I know the difference especially when you nuke the cheese on enchiladas and it's cool to the touch while the plate is super hot. #neveragain. Fyi to those who. Are non Spanish in origin this is not authentic Mexican food local guide or not you don't know what your talking about. Authentic go to La Azteca in Hammond and freshly cooked.

Would have given 4.5 stars if I had the option. The ambiance was really nice and got me in the mood for a margarita or 3. I'm going to start with the bad because this is why I couldn't hit them with 5 stars. We ordered their big family appetizer and it had me worried about the rest of the meal. The chicken in the quesadilla was okay, a little plain, but not too bad. Their ground beef is just bad. Bad in texture, bad in taste. Our actual meals were unbelievable though. I ordered nachos with steak chicken and shrimp (texas nachos I believe) that were to die for and my mom ordered enchiladas in 5 different fillings (enchiladas santa maria). She even commented that the chicken was much better in the enchilada than the appetizer. Definitely worth the trip

Would give -5 if possible! The service was horrible! Our table was unattended too after rushed drink orders, and having to flag another waiter down just to order food after a 25 minute wait! After the food was dropped off the server not once returned to the table after we sat there for 45 minutes! We had to go to the register ourselves without even seeing the bill to pay! Magically he appeared, with no apology, no discount for his horrible service, but a smug look and he check! We stepped out and my friend returned in to inquire if she could have a box after leaving her plate, which was cleared off in 30 seconds smh! The manager was nice, and claimed he would get her a new tostado, but after waiting 10 minutes returned with the same cold fumbled over tostado and old gauc! Disgusting and I’m positive that’s a health code sanitation violation! Safe to say, we won’t be back along with about 15-20 of our friends who we had introduced to this resturant!

Beautiful place, plants everywhere, music not too loud so you can have a conversation, very friendy and fast service. Now the food, we ordered taco dinner, chilaquiles and burrito. Everything was very good. Rice and beans were good too. Meat was very tender and tasty. I asked for the birthday song, sinve they had music, but they came and sang to me and gave me this delitious cheese cake, the best I ever tasted.

Food has gone downhill....I ordered flautas they make them with flour tortillas.....YUCK! Use corn tortillas like ever other Mexican place does. My friends burrito dinner was so small and hardly any rice and beans. Very disappointed in the food. Food used to be good not anymore. Service was ok. The only thing that is good now are the drinks. Don't think I will be back.

The best fish tacos I've ever had! Other menu items I've tried have, I have never disappointed! I could list so many! You can't go wrong with any choice! Very authentic. Great service, and prices. I've never had a cocktail there, but have seen some of the biggest margaritas that look very refreshing and very very big!

Terrible experience! I’ve been here before with my husband and have always had good service, tonight was awful. The waiter brought out two out of five dinners. We waited 10-15 minutes for them to bring out two more and another 5 minutes for the last one. Then didn’t bring out tortillas. The drinks didn’t get refilled until I asked to see a “manager”. We were so disappointed. Waited another half hour without anyone checking on us so I had to go to the front to ask for out check. Another 5 minutes pass and they bring it. 130.00 check I asked the manager for some kind is discount for the poor service he literally laughed and took $10.00 off. I told him we probably won’t be coming back and he said ok. What a joke! Awful customer service. Did not even get an apology for the horrible service. I’d give no stars if I could.

Been here a few times. They offer many different Mexican dishes and the food is okay, not the best or worst. Of course they offer free chips and salsa when you dine in. The margaritas is why I always go back. They offer extremely large margaritas!

I went there yesterday with my daughter. I got steak taco dinner and she got a steak and cheese burrito because they don't have tortas. I mean the food was just ok. It had like something off about it. I didn't eat the food and brought it home and my mom said the same thing. So very mediocre. The horchata was HORRIBLE. Very bland. Redeeming qualities were the restaurant was nice and the staff was verynice as well. That being said i would not go back.
