I’m not a big fan of BBQ.for one,I like 2 get cleaned up before the meal,n not have 2 were bib like a baby so the owners” own secret recipe “ doesn’t eat its way through my shirt....like it appears 2b doing 2 a reused ketchup bottle.even if the owners mom said”it’s really good....really!”or do i want 2b shamed n 2 “just try a lill bit sis.”by a teenager that probably couldn’t tell me the difference between beef or pork BBQ.that b’n said i am a lover of slow cooked smoked foods.and if i can get a vary friendly,well trained staff,that r real pros?well u may never get me out of the place!u can get all of that n more at Jefferson St BBQ.if u haven’t been there u have 2try it.

Absolutely horrible service! We traveled all the way from Indy (1hr30min. Drive) to walk into to the restaurant at which seemed a moderately busy time only for the hostess to walk out and inform us that there were no available seats, and that there would be a minimum of a 40-45 minute wait before we could even be seated because there were "two parties in front of us"... on a Tuesday evening at 5:30pm... I then took a glance around the restaurant and counted three 6 top tables and two 4 top tables that we're cleared with one of them still needing wiped down... I then glance around the "waiting area" (2ft by 2ft square piece of carpet in front of the door

It was great except for the fact that they have only flour options. I prefer corn, due to a gluten sensitivity. The chips seemed stale also. So if it were not for the stale chips and if they would have had corn chips vs flour, I would have given 5 stars.

A nice ride to capture sunflower photos put us in downtown Converse, In. Jefferson St. BBQ was an extremely unexpected delight! Service was friendly and efficient and the food delicious!

The food when it arrived, was tasty. The shredded pork was flavorful, but on the dry side. The brisket was amazing: tender, moist and packed with flavor. The Arnold Palmer (rip) I had with lunch was better than average and served in a nice pint glass. The mac and cheese was great, but the green beans tasted like they were out of the can with very little bacon flavor. Service was friendly but slow, I think they were having IT issues the day I went. This restaurant was an unexpected and pleasant surprise.

I really like the food there and I would have really enjoyed eating there but the wait time was an hour and a half. It was 35 minutes to get food to go. I ended up going to Red Lobster instead. I'll pick another time to go other than Saturday evening.

We found the food delicious, the pricing very reasonable, the service was okay, but they were very busy. The atmosphere was very loud, the dining area is extremely small, I reccomend making reservations as they don't have many tables. But was worth the 45 minute drive.

This is a SUPER RAD PLACE!! I stopped in this BBQ place after a couple family members telling me about it. It was a random little trip I took. The town of converse and the country around the town is a beautiful place for a relaxing drive. This BBQ place was very clean and stylish I was surprised because Converse is a very small town. It was comfortable and very roomy. I was dining alone and was immediately greeted by a waitress. She came to my table and handed me my menus. I recommend reading this menu. It tells about he farm to table concept of the restraunt and tells you about the family that started the place. It evens tells you where the delicious pickles they serve come from and the same with the unique chips they serve. I decided to order the BBQ sandwich meal served with chips and a pickle. The BBQ was outstanding. It is the shredded kind and melts in your mouth. I like how they do not pre BBQ it and you can choose what BBQ and the amount you want on your sandwich. I then tried the wedge salad. All of the produce comes from local suppliers. This was a very crisp and delicious salad. I loved eating every last morsel of it. of The wedge salad and the tomatoes were AMAZING. It was almost as if they hand picked the absolute best produce just for me. I then ordered a Pulled pork taco. They were unique. Not what my palate likes but If you love tacos I think you would really enjoy them and the pickles onions! I checked out quickly and before I left used the bathroom. I love clean bathrooms. :) Then I headed on over to Oak Hill Winery. If you love wines this place is awesome! The wines are named after towns and places around our state and the area around Converse. Wow!

Amazing...massive portions, delicious food and great prices for the amount of food you get...I tried the Mac'anic which is a 3/4 pound of bbq meat (pork, chicken, or brisket) with Mac 'n cheese and jalapeños on a brioche bun...it's about $12 and comes with a side of bread but it's delicious and really too much for one person to eat usually...

I visited this place with a few friends on a Friday night. The place was crowded, so we had to wait for awhile. However, the service was great and the food was very good. Good bbq is hard to come by in the North, so it was nice to run into this hidden gem. Highly recommend!

Long story, but am an ex-employee through my own fault. BUT I can promise you this is amazing food made by a staff and owner that really care. I advise anyone passing through converse, I'm sure locals already know, to eat here. They were expanding when I left to help with any wait times people might be bummed on. And I took home food nearly every night when I worked there and never got burnt out. Jefferson Street BBQ is a hidden gym run by an amazing owner. ❤

Stopped for lunch on our way home from Indianapolis picking up a new car. We were seated on the patio, which is very comfortable and airy. Inside the restaurant was busy and noisy. Our server promptly got our drink and food order and everything was delivered in short order. The brisket was delicious! Super tender with just enough smoke flavor and a nice edge of charred fat. Both BBQ sauces were good, but I preferred the spicy, which had a nice sneaky heat. The coleslaw was very fresh and crisp, but lacked the zing that I expect from slaw. The Italian sausage was also delicious. I don't know if it is make in house, but is is good. The wedge salad with blue cheese and balsamic dressing was huge and had ample amounts of blue cheese and delicious pickled onions. I wish Jefferson Street BBQ was closer to home so we could visit more often. We'll just have to plan excursions in that direction so we can have an excuse to stop in again. Well done.

Great BBQ food and sides! We ordered a Mississenawa and Wabash platter, the food was enough to feed four hungry teenage boys. The side dishes were a little small but very good. The restaurant itself was very clean and there were either tall or short tables to sit at. Our server was friendly and kept the drinks full. Overall Jefferson St. BBQ is a great place to have dinner and a good time.

The food tasted good, but everything except the soup came out lukewarm. They were not busy at all; there was only one or two other tables and quite a few workers. Wish the menu mentioned that the mashed potatoes are made with sour cream--torally overpowers the flavor and if you don't like sour cream, it makes them inedible.

Working in Marion, wish I’d found this place earlier in my trips; I’d prob have gone there every day. Just about 15 min away. Super cute town. Super cuter restaurant. They were friendly and quick. The food was delish and under-priced in my opinion. The smoked sausages and BBR were awesome but was pretty impressed with the Cecil Nachos, wedge salad and the greens too. They must love this restaurant ... it shows. I love garden to table.

What a find traveling thru the farmlands of Indiana. Some the best BBQ you will experience. Currently going thru a remodel / expansion. Everything we had was very good, wrap - white chicken chili - Brisket - smoked wings... would be 5 stars but the Brisket & Wings were barely warm plus small wing portion (3).

This is Bar-b-q at it’s finest! We love eating here. The food is always great. Try everything on the menu because it’s all delicious. The smoked meats are tender, smoky and so well seasoned that you’ll wish you ordered the next size entree. All of the sides are tasty and complement the meat perfectly. The only down side is it gets a little loud in here, the old acoustics just can’t handle all of the conversation going on. Tip the wait crew good, they do an amazing job. Try this place if you haven’t, yet, you won’t be disappointed. I am told the beer is pretty good too. Enjoy. Oh, and the place is always neat and clean, I like and appreciate that, too!

We have traveled around and tried BBQ restaurants in many different towns and states. We live about an hour away from this restaurant and have now gotten hooked. It is by far the number one BBQ we have been to. Excellent brisket, pulled pork, ribs, baked beans and mac&cheese. The Brisket is the best I've ever had. We now try to get here at least one /month.

Very good food. Great Saturday special, The Jefferson for $11, $2 off regular price. 2 meats and 2 sides. Large portions. The best jalapeno corn bread. $5 for 6 muffins, most definitely worth it. We had a very good, attentive waitress. First time eating there and she was helpful with our questions. Worth the 25 minute drive from Walton to Converse. I'm sure we will go back. They do take reservations, an I would recommend making one on the weekends. We went at 4:30 on a Saturday. They were just getting busy when we got there and there was people waiting for a table when we left an hour later. If you live in north central Indiana and looking for something new I would definitely recommend this place. It's family friendly and worth the drive.

I spend most my Taco Tuesdays at Jefferson St. BBQ. The atmosphere is rustic and inviting, waiters and waitresses are attentive, and I have yet to be disappointed by any of the dishes I've tried. I always love that the meat is from local farmers and that Jefferson St BBQ has become "the go to" eatery in our small town.

Service was somewhat slow even though there were several empty tables and employees standing around. My salad was supposed to come with guacamole. When I asked the waitress she went to the kitchen but when she returned said they were out. I would have expected an adjustment to our bill but was charged full price. One of our party got the medium size nachos. He said they were good but not much meat. Overall a positive experience.
