This restaurant is by far the #1 worst in the nation this was like the 3rd time i stop here and is always being the same. Today the place was empty server came to my table after 10 minutes of seating brought drink after 10 more minutes i ordered a club sandwich which after 20 minutes wasn't ready. Had to go . To the owner: I would visit again, if you had staff that actually cared about their customers, instead of gossiping, and flirting with guys. This restaurant was empty for a reason, during lunch rush time. We ( my husband and friend who is an over the road driver), waited 45 minutes for food that was never cooked. We waited 15 minutes for drinks, that they couldn't remember what we even ordered. We would have ate what was offered at the buffet, it was old. I worked in food service, took the food handlers exam, and wouldn't feed that nastiness to my worst enemy!

Food/service was decent. The floors and tabletops in the Restaurant were sticky and visually dirty. All a driver wants is to have a sit down meal in a restaurant after a long day of work and not have to worry if the restaurant is clean or not. If they take no pride in cleaning the main dinning area...how is the kitchen and appliances being cleaned. Restroom was also nasty. Someone urinated all over the toilet and floor in one of the stalls. Reported it to the clerk in the convienence store and she said she would have someone clean it. Here I walk in an hour later and the mess is still there.

This restaurant was clean and busy. I got the very tasty breakfast buffet. The food was very good, except for pancakes I had to use a steak knife to cut! And then I had to "saw" the pieces off! The waitress was good and service was timely. The truck stop where this restaurant is located is beautiful! Up to date decor and equipped to take care of any service travelers might have .

I’m only giving three stars because my waitress was amazing. I ate at this place late last night, my first and last, they almost had a fist fight between a customer and two of the waitresses. Thankfully the manager, who was also my waitress for the night Ms. Whitley came and defused the situation before it got out of hand, she even came around and apologized to the few customers that were still eating, and that was greatly appreciated! You have to have some type of self control when your working in the restaurant business. I have never experienced something like that and it ruined my appetite.

Terrible food at this location. My fish seemed microwave cooked and way too salty. The rice pilaf is really mushy white rice with brown pasty seasoning. My hubby had the BBQ Buffet. Smelled good but most of the meats were chewy. The salad bar was decent and saved our tummies from being hungry.

The skillet always has good food. The only knock I had on this location, on this day, was that I was just looking for some chicken tenders.... Nope. Denied. ...so I went for the chicken Alfredo , which was good. Then decided on desert, the Apple pie a la mode.... Not tonight.... Denied... Maybe they should make a little bit extra if they keep running out. Still good enough for 4 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had the dinner buffet and it was eye appealing as well as aromatic. Everything was fresh , well cooked, and very delicious. I also had the salad bar which is the best around these parts. The price was $13.99 which I feel was worth every penny. Great food and reasonable prices, stop in you won't regret it.

Average. Took 10 minutes to get asked what I wanted to drink, 5 more to get a menu and the table never got wiped off. I ate in a pile of crumbs and whatever else. The food is ok. SOS. $18 meal. For less money you can eat at Applebee’s, ruby Tuesdays, outback or even Denny’s. Sorry those are the facts.

I'm not from Brazil but I work there, overnights. So I decided to try it and it was about 5:30-6:00am. I was the only one in there and the server was named Lori. She was super nice checked on me often. I told her I'd never been there and that I was also not from there so she was super helpful. I got a breakfast buffet for $5.99. The food was really good but the reason I gave 4 stars was because some of it was not very warm but other than that it was great!

For an iron skillet, I'm actually impressed, this is one of the better ones I have visited. They had more food.. and I love iron skillet acrossed the country. I still will only give a 4 since I do believe all iron skillets need more food choices.. food taste is always better then anything u can get from any other truckstop.. I'd still have to say it's rated $$$$ out of 5.. too expensive for quality. If quality of food went up then charge the 12-13$ for buffet.. again food is better then those other places.. but quality could improve or price could come down.. truck stops are killing us on these prices..

Caroline might want to clue customers in on a buffet closing in 15 minutes and letting them order it with no prior knowledge so one could actually enjoy the meal. She received an undeserved tip of $5 after that poor service and having to get our own silverware and ask for napkins. Some things you should have prepared to better perform your job. Then $54 for the experience? No thanks. Wont be back.

I've loved this place in the past but now it's just okay. Not sure what happened. The buffet used to be beautiful and fresh and now it seems old, crusty and forgotten. I'm not kidding you, this was the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever laid lips on. Get the fluffy slaw on the side, this crispy magic just needs a little mayo and hot sauce. The service was delightful. Will stop here every time I drive 70. Super cute and we'll appointed store as well. Best place to stop in this rural area.

Well, currently it's the only breakfast buffet in the area, until the new big buffet opens. Located in a truck stop environment, The Iron Skillet is still inviting and friendly. We had the breakfast buffet and my son had a chicken sandwich... which he really enjoyed. In hindsight, we all should have ordered from the menu. It's not that the buffet was bad... it was just bland and unimpressive. I couldn't even convince the kids to get pancakes a second time to make the purchase price worthy. The service was very friendly and did a pretty good job.

We stopped there to eat around 12am. Waitress came and took our order, came back 10 minutes later and took it again. Another 10 minutes or so she took another couples order that just came in, she then walked back to our table a few minutes after that and took our order for the third time. The other couple got their food 25 minutes before we even got ours. We waited an hour for our food. Then we could hear the cook (which we got told was the manager) talking to the other manager about our food order being wrong before they even brought it to us. He tells her, don't ask them if it's wrong just give it to them. We had to ask for silverware and never seen any help again after that. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Remodel and new decor a few years ago was a great idea. Chicken fried chicken breakfast skillet is our go to! Salad bar is always good. Steak specials on Mother's Day and Father's Day are a good deal. Rodney is an awesome server...and hilarious. One of our favorite places to go!

Ice cream machine was broken and making aweful, loud rachet and workers refused to turn it off. One worker said, "I'm off in 5. Why do I care." My waitress was nice and on top of things. Other drivers were entertaining and nice to talk to. Food was good, better than most places on the road. Honestly if the one worker hadn't been rude and it hasn't been so loud I would have rated it 5 stars instead of 4.

Well for a truck stop they are pretty much the same as all other truck stops. All they want is the drivers to come in and spend their HARD earned money and get the hell out!!! Like most truck stop restaurants, they serve hardy dishes. Very yummy. I've been there for the lunch buffet and enjoyed it but they raised the price horribly for the supper buffet to the point that I ordered off the menu, which wasnt bad. I enjoyed the service and they were prompt at getting my food to me. You can get food in just about any food group, all 3 meals, and price range.

Buffett all you can eat and it's actually good quality food. Beef Stroganoff (beef and potato medley) was very tasty. It's a trucker's spot in NJ but feels like you in middle of the country. I enjoyed it here and would definitely recommend for a quick bite while passing by.

Very disappointing. I usually stop at the iron skillet and is good but for some reason the food from the buffet bar tasted like it had been sitting for a long time. The lasagna pasta was still hard, and the bread tasted like they were from the day before. I dont mind over paying for a buffet at a truck stop, but at least serve what you charge for.

We stopped for a late dinner after being at the Osteology Museum. My husband, our 7 year old and myself ate from the buffet. Our 9 year old was not interested in what was available after trying the mac n'cheese so, the waitress asked her manager if he could cook a few pieces of fried chicken and fries. The manager took care of us! This man was happy to solve our problem and served with a smile. Great staff and excellent service.

Big salad bar right up front that includes also souos, desserts, hot buffet items, cakes, and rolls. Full menu in addition. I was there at prime lunchtime and the employees kept it well stocked. Speaking of the employees, they were all very friendly and wanted to take care of every detail. The place is huge, sparkly clean and set up with more than just the restaurant since it appears to be a full service trucker stop too.

I enjoyed stopping here while on a long road trip. The service was quick and you have the option to oder off of a menu or get the buffet. The Iron Skillet reminded me of the old truck stop days when truckers wanted a good hardy meal before they headed back out on the road. I did not expect much when me and my family sat down. The server we had was wonderful and made us feel like family. I had a great meal and so did my family.

I have to say the salad bar was the best, it had blueberries, strawberries and cantaloupe. The plates are either cold or warm, only thing they didnt have at the all you can eat salad bar was soft serve ice cream. Staff seemed really friendly, especially the one with the fake tan.

Terrible food at this location. My fish seemed microwave cooked and way too salty. The rice pilaf is really mushy white rice with brown pasty seasoning. My hubby had the BBQ Buffet. Smelled good but most of the meats were chewy. The salad bar was decent and saved our tummies from being hungry.

I've been wanting to try the buffet for $9.99 & I finally got my chance. Although there wasn't a huge variety on the salad bar, everything I tried was really great. Then I went over to the dinner items on the buffet & I was really disappointed. Not a big selection, the pork roast left a lot to be desired, & I've even had better mac & cheese. I didn't try everything, so maybe I missed out on something that was good, but even my Coke didn't taste right, so I doubt I'll be back.

I have eaten at Iron Skillet restaurants literally all over the country... usually something I look forward to. This was hands down, the worst I have ever encountered! The salad bar looked like it was put together yesterday.... all of the lettuce was yellow and wilted, the black olives had been out for so long they were thoroughly dried out, pasta salad was sticky and gross! The chicken looked it had been cooked on a Texas road shoulder in August and the Meatloaf looked like you could sand a fender down with it! Service was poor as well. Somebody from corporate should do a surprise visit on this place! This location is so far from the norm of this establishment it’s unbelievable!!!

It's the iron skillet so I wasn't expecting much from the food but I was expecting a decent level of higiene. The place new silverware in little white paper bags. Seemengly to demonstrate that they are clean. Of the 4 sets of silverware (on 2 people) none of them were clean and the grosses one had rice stuck in tine's of the fork.

The Iron Skillet lives up to its name with iron skillets used as plates. This a a buffet style restaurant that also has a full menu to choose from. The food was wonderful, service was wonderful and prices were good. Plenty of seating. The location is its only fall out. It is located attached to a has station.

Probably wouldn't go back unless I had no other choice but to. And got to listen to the kitchen staff swearing so if you have young kids I wouldn't recommend it.

Worst ever. We were rushed to put our order in because of a larger group that was there. Was told our order would go in first and it did not nor did they make sure ours did. It Took 1.5 hours to get food apon receiving the food we watch them microwave our food this made our burgers cook more soaking our buns with grease. We also ordered 2 club sandwiches they came to our table and said they had no turkey because it was all spoiled. While waiting they rolled mop bucket next to our table and left it there for us to smell the entire time we were there. This place was dirty and the wait staff walked around like they had no purpose. We will never ever eat there again.

The look of the buffet when we walked in looked questionable. Some of the chicken was gray, and the soup bar had no bowls, the salad bar was disgusting. The Mango Mist was also questionable. They had no honey mustard, the rolls for the buffet were dry, my grilled chicken w/ Alfredo was dry and the sauce was too runny. Mother couldn't really eat. The 'waitress' rarely checked up on us, I'm surprised this place is still running.

We've been here previously twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch and it was good then. Today tho, not so much. Food was dried out at 1:30pm and majority was room temp if not cool (sans salad bar which was proper temp). We were disheartened by our find today and agreed that we'll wait a couple of months before returning.

Overall Rating: It's just Okay Atmosphere: The area is busy with truck traffic and travels. To be expected for a travel plaza. Inside the restaurant you will find fewer family and more lonely truckers having a meal alone. Idea for the establishment would be provide a Que card to place on the end of the table that says your open for company. Quality: The food is exactly what you would expect for a buffet style restaurant. Opting to take the buffet which they are primarily known for. I found myself a little disappointing. While there was a good selection of greens and starches, the meats where very dry and you could tell they had been out for hours. Service: The wait staff was welcoming and attentive making sure you were happy by providing refills on a consistent basis. However it should be noted that it's abundantly apparent that instead of paying the wait staff a proper wage the restaurant forces them to rely mainly on tips. Always a negative. Overall Impression: If you need to fill your belly in a hurry and get a move on, it's ok. I would personally suggest just hitting up any of the other nearby establishments for better quality food.

My husband and i visited 4/27/18, we had the seafood buffet. The food was pretty good for a 15.99 seafood buffet. Stopped in today for a late lunch. The buffet was almost completely empty and what was left looked old and unappetizing. I ordered off the menu and was disappointed. The spaghetti I ordered looked like it wasn’t drained after the pasta was cooked. To make it worse, the waitress was inattentive to customers, not serving food quickly when it was ready, ignored drink refills, and gave the impression she was lost in what she was doing. It will be a long time before I will willingly come back.

What can I say either the food bar or the personal touch. nestled just outside of Knoxville at exit 369 off I-75 it serves the best that Tennessee has to offer in southern cooking who would of guessed it's a truck stop , with a view weather your trucking or a family hungry for the next meal and the service is a number one .

Prices are too high for the mushy, low quality, hardly warm food you get. Everything is cooked in the most unhealthy way possible and the ingredients used are awful. The Carlisle location literally has black mold growing under the wallpaper.

this place use to be a great place to eat until a few minutes ago I came in sat down order the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns the eggs were overcooked and the hashbrowns smelled like they were sour and I ask for crispy hashbrowns and got soggy Instead told the sorry for and excuse waitress and nothing was done about it at all they just wanted my money I will never every eat at this place again and I suggest yall dont either oh at least on the late night shift hell should have just went to a waffle house

A week ago i ate the breakfast buffet on Sunday morning at 6:30 am. It was the best breakfast buffet ive ever had, just perfect and fresh. One week later i heard they had bbq Buffett on saturday night. Not the same experience, the chicken breasts were old and tasted funny. I told someone getting them that they tasted funny and they got one anyways. They came to my table and said i was right. Mashed potatoes dry carrots you can tell they were from lunch, its 5 pm now. The pork chop or whatever it was was oll and hard. Overal the Buffett was not up to par. Not pleased at all but the young black girl was the best waitress ive ever had.

Enjoyed an excellent breakfast buffet of comfort food at the Iron Skillet in Carlisle late yesterday morning. Hot food was hot and fresh. Biscuits were spot on and stayed together well enough to even allow splitting and adding of a still moist country fried chicken steak for an impromptu breakfast sandwich. The waitress's service was quick, friendly and attention to detailed which included rapid refills of the on-the-table's coffee pot once emptied. The floor managers five minute public notice of change over from breakfast to the lunch buffet was appreciated. A few very minor issues, the sugar container at the table was very clumpy due to moisture and required a good bit of thumping to loosen up the grains. Also, while it may not be a daily item of availability, I was disappointed to see no breakfast style baked goods available though arriving a half-hour before the end of breakfast buffet service this is understandable. Iron Skillet continues to set the bar for what all truck stop chains and independents should be doing. I'll be back, just not too soon as I need some time to digest everything.

Maybe each location is different, but we've been here for two days during our travels. Both times, the service struggled. Buffet bar looks like the food has been out for a few hours. Your order will take 25-30 minutes and while you wait, you may get thirsty because your cup will stay empty for a while. Sip slowly.

Good place to get a buffet or a decent meal. Typical truck stop but nice. Staff is friendly and attentive. Aside from buffet, also has ala carte menu which I've tried and it's pretty good. Buffet on Mondays is only $10 which is a great price. Plenty of parking. Nice little store if you need quick supplies for sodas snacks etc.

Decided to have the buffet. The only thing really edible on the bar were the hotdogs and the polish sausage. Everything had been there way too long and tasted terrible. In essence I paid $14 for a couple of hotdogs, when I could have gotten 2 for $3 (around about) in the Petro. Incredibly disappointed and feeling a little ripped off. As a truck driver you don't have nearly as many options as everyone else as to where to eat. It's all about where you can fit your truck and what they have available nearby, unless you are willing to order an Uber, costing even more money. It's a little frustrating when you spend your hard earned money on something that I wouldn't even feed a dog. I don't think they'd want to go to a place, dish out over an hours wage and find out that they can't eat what they're served. I don't understand why they'd expect that of any other hard working American. Please, just keep up with your food and stop serving slop to people.

I'm giving the two stars honestly only because the service with our server Shell , was the best! She's a great waitress! The food on the other hand could use some effort. The frozen steak was still undercooked , and the fried chicken was over done! We wanted country fried steak, but it seems that they are out of that dish and have been for some time. The eggs on the salad bar were still frozen. Not worth 35$ . I will not go back.

On my particular visit the food was good, the waitress (Janet) was amazing. Very attentive, polite and a genuine woman. I personally would return to this location as I am sure I will at some point, being that I am a truck driver. The prices at this Iron Skillet are no different from any other Iron Skillet. Don't know why people say it is pricey. And the food sucks comments, that another story. How can someone put that the food sucks or isn't good? I highly doubt they purchased one of every item and not to mention, you can't judge all the food by only the food you received. There is way to much on the menu for one person to try and be able to judge it all. Not that hard to put what you had during your visit and what you felt was wrong with it. Not polite to judge complete menu off of a few items you had.

If it weren't for our great waitresses, I would have given this place 0 stars, on Friday, the buffet was horrible, three types of fish that my cat wouldn't eat, some type of berry desert, that had no taste, only the boiled shrimp was,ok and that's it, for 13.99. I won't eat there again on Friday. They have great food but I wouldn't do Friday.

Early morning buffet. Price was great. But there was not one good thing on the buffet. Everything was crusted over. Half the food was cold. I don’t generally complain but I did tell our waitress. She went to get the manager which just repeatedly ask me how he could make me happy. He eventually decided to not charge the two adults and only charge us for the three children. Left and went across the street to Burger King.

Our visit went great. The waitress was friendly and the food was good. My sons ordered chicken stripes and a burger. I went with the buffet option which had several fish selections. The fried fish was great. It was located in a truck stop area so we were able to pick up other things we needed like gum, chips, and bottled water.

I've been to a lot of Petro/Iron Skillet restaurants across the country, even this particular one in the past. But NEVER, have I seen the food so disgusting and the price so ridiculously high as I have this evening. The Steak and Seafood buffet just STUNK! I lost my appetite as soon as I walked in. NASTY!!
