We came here for my grandma's 90th birthday. I wasn't really expecting much from a golf club restaurant in French Lick, but I was impressed. We had a huge party and the service was outstanding. We brought our own cake and they cut it for us and brought out ice cream to go with it too. We started with an appetizer of the fried fresh mozzarella. It was quite good. For entrees, we got the BBQ gouda burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich. Both were really good. The burger was cooked really well. We got bacon cheese fries and chips as our sides. Both were good. If you're in French Lick, I'd recommend checking this place out.

This was our 3rd time eating at Hagen's, the first 2 times we just ate appetizers at the bar and had drinks, we also enjoyed the stories our bartenders shared. Having lived at the dome for 2 years, when it was Northwood Institute, I always love hearing any stories about the Valley. The last time we dined was on October 27th, it was our 40th anniversary. The food was great as always, the bartender even offered to take a photo of our group of 6. Our server was sweet, but not attentive to our needs, and the restaurant wasn't busy. After my hubby and I returned from the restrooms we were informed by our party that a 15% service fee had been automatically added to the checks. I thought it was probably a gratuity for our party having 6 people. But our friends quizzed our server about it (while we were gone) and she said it was to help keep the servers in the off season. We never saw our bill because our friends had paid ours while we're gone. Although my hubby and I will return, because it's one of my favorite places, as is the Mansion at the Pete Dye Clubhouse, our 4 friends will not dine at Hagen's or any of the other restaurants that have the automatic 15% service fee. They have other places in town that they like to dine at, like 33 Brick Street, The Vintage Cafe, the German restaurant, and both Chicago Pizza, and the Brick pizza. It did put a damper on an otherwise wonderful 3 night stay at my favorite getaway location.

Clubhouse restaurants at golf courses are, in my experience , always way over priced for unremarkable food and merely adequate sevice. This one is no exception.

Service was horrible. Prices were crazy for what we got. Charged a 15% service charge and was told we also needed to leave a tip because the service charge didn't go to the servers. I won't be eating here again.

We had a fabulous lunch, my husband always orders the ribeye, he says: best ribeye he's ever eaten! I had the hand breaded tenderloin! Great! Amanda our server was the best! Can't say enough good things about this place!

Visited 24 Mar18, good food, good service and an enjoyable dinner/evening with friends; two on their first visit to French Lick. Imagine our surprise when our bill included a 15% service charge, as Paige explained, that wasn't a mandatory gratuity. What service were we being charged ?? Do 2 or 4 person tables turn over that much faster?? There was always an open table during our visit. And when we were finished there was no one waiting to replace our party. Do you not want us to bring friends to your establishment? do we just have to limit the number we would bring with us? I could understand a mandatory 15% (or 20%) included gratuity on large parties (is 6 people really a large party?) but our server stated this was NOT a gratuity. In reviewing your menu on line the 15% service charge is stated. I guess I'll have to chalk this up to a learning experience; fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. In the future, IF I choose to use your establishment, it will in a party of 4 or less ( maybe we will do two tables of 3). Maybe is the key word......

I was very disappointed in the service we waited 45 minutes for a meal which were salads. We left and never got our order. The restaurant was only 1/3 full so there was no reason for the long wait. I was greatly disappointed.

We were there a 5pm, and they were already out of ribs. Sweet potato was fibrous and not hot, we had to ask for ice for our water glasses, and weren't even asked if we wanted dessert before the check was dropped. Won't be going back.

First time visitor today, and it was wonderful. Beautiful setting on a hill, with magnificent views of the golf course. Relaxing atmosphere, and very friendly staff. The food was excellent, and very reasonably priced for such great quality. All dishes were presented in a very artistic manner. Very large portions. I will definitely be back!

I took my wife and her sister to eat here on Saturday evening, the night before New Years. Our service was good, but their two steaks were not very good. One had to be sent back, but they made it right with another steak of better quality. A bit pricey. My sister in law's dinner I thought was quite high. Probably will not be back.

Walked in with high expectations, and was blown away by the soup. It tasted like the chef knew what they had to work with and let the ingredients shine. This made my main dish all the more disappointing. I ordered the ribs and a sweet potato side. Sweet potatoes, were not sweet, they where not ripe yet. Rib meet was tender, but the dry rub combined with a pile of sauce was such a off putting flavor combination, it seemed like either or would have it's own strengths. Together they were overpowering. I was shocked, it was very disapointing. My companions seemed to enjoy their meals so if you're giving them a try, try the scallions or the steak.

Excellent food, super service! Shrimp and Grits , close to equal go what i had in Memphis Tn. There was a glitch, however when we asked the server to call our shuttle, she told the bartender, she said..We stood outside in the chilly fall night for 30 minutes, until an employee drove up and followed up to see what happened.. He called for the shuttle, and it came in less than 10 minutes...Still not sure what happened but it did put a damper on our otherwise good dining experience. Since we had one handicapped man who was using a walker, and it wasn't easy for him.

The spinach salad was wonderful. Hot Brown and Ruben were good. Hot food was hot and tasted fresh. Beer could be colder, but tasty. Service was friendly and attentive, but not knowledgeable about beers. All in all, I'd go back.

Worst service experience in a long time. Hostess was obviously overwhelmed. Many tables open, but waited 45 minutes to be seated at a table that was open the entire time. She walked around clueless with no idea on how to perform her job. Once we were seated we sat there 15 more minutes and was never greeted by a waiter or waitress before we got up and left. If you cannot handle being open in the 4th of July, stay closed. Will not be back.

Great relaxing view! Service was perfect and food was four stars good. Will definitely be a repeat customer- fried mozzarella was perfect. Chicken pesto was a bit salty and mediocre at best. Atmosphere was inviting. Disappointed we could not sit outside- is only for to go food and for smoking golfers.

Our Dinner Group of 14 had dinner last night & the ambiance, the food and the service was excellent with the exception of ambient noise level. This was an very nice experience with the exception of THE HIDDEN FEE service charge of 15% imposed by the hotel on groups of 6 or more. We were not staying at any of the French Lick hotels.Customers often think the fee is the gratuity which then gives the waitstaff no tip. The fee just appears on your check with no prior notice. This is deceitful. Our group will not be dining with you again.

If I could give this place negative stars I would. We came here for my grandmother's 75th birthday. The bartender was SO rude. I have never complained to restaurants about their customer service but this was not okay. We waited 45 minutes for food before we got up and left. The bartender had the audacity to give my grandmother attitude when she said something and came up with every excuse in the book. The bartenders response was DIISGUSTING. As someone who worked in the restaurant industry in college, I would NEVER recommend this place.

After ordering, we waited 1 hour before we got up and walked out. Whether it was Amanda's first day or not, I will never be back.We never did get our meal. The club came recommended and was my first time. What a disappointment. They are not prepared as a restaurant. There were 30 or more staff, but no one had any clue. They need to stick to golf club lunches. Whoever is manager needs to get fired.

Disappointing. Previous trips were great, this one not so much. Food was decent but had to send a couple items back to the kitchen. Young server tried hard but was very inconsistent. Large party with several young children was extremely loud and inconsiderate; really put a damper on an otherwise great atmosphere.
