"How was Edelweiss?" I couldn't tell you I never eaten there. I've been curious about it but was told it was part of a private park and you have to be a member to go. I don't join private places because it's private I give 2 stars.

This is the textbook definition of a hidden gem. Edelweiss is located inside the German American Club building at German Park in Greenwood and has a very limited schedule. That being said, it is well worth trying to find your way there during their limited schedule. I had the jeager schnitzel with the spaetzle and horseradish mashed potatoes. I washed this down with a liter of a weat German beer that was pretty darn good. The only thing I needed after this was a nap. I can't suggest this place enough!

Edelweiss is located in a German hall, but don't ever let that stop you from coming here. We went on a Wednesday when they have their buffet. The food was delicious. Currywurst, sauerkraut, buttered noodles, cabbage, and more were all in good supply. The owners even stopped by and talked to us about business and other events they hold. Edelweiss is really worth your time if you live good food!

Expensive, food is either not seasoned or seasoned with something pickled. I would recommend three or four drinks before eating. This is a Chef Ramsey before type place, probably plenty frozen or pre made in the back.

our first time ordering. food was OKAY, not worth the hefty price tag. the the horseradish mashed potatoes were basically instant mashed potatoes with horseradish flavoring added to it. the bacon cheeseburger was rather dry and lacked seasoning. the best thing in the order was the reuben sandwich and the sauerkraut, everything else was rubbish. not worth the $50 we spent on it.

Its just not very good at all. My son got the Saurbraten, which to me if it says it cooks for three days it should be tender like pot roast. It wasnt. And the sauce on it was nasty. Everything came out lukewarm. Oddly enough, the least German item, the fried chicken special, was the best thing there. Skip it.

The best German cuisine I have had is the Rathskeller, in downtown Indianapolis, yet Edelweiss is also in Indy on the south side near Greenwood on State Road 135, in comparison it is a smaller sized restaurant but it is on a large piece of beautiful land when the German club first broke ground on the property. The restaurant itself has excellent food, imported German beers, a biergarten, buffet meals on most nights. so if you're daunted by going to a big restaurant in downtown Indianapolis to get a good German inspired meal that's authentic, give Edelweiss a try, if you like it as well as I have, you'll enjoy the Rathskeller in downtown Indianapolis as well.

This is truly a hidden gym! Edelweiss is located in German Park at the end of the drive. The park itself isn't anything major, but the scenery is very nice. Once at the parking lot, you can go in the main entrance and down the stairs to the restaurant or follow the sidewalk north of the building where it slopes down and around the building to their outdoor seating. You can see a gnome garden along the way! I've seen comments saying this place isn't handicap accessible, but this sidewalk is the entrance to take if you have a wheelchair or stroller. Understandably, this will be inconvenient if it is raining. The outdoor seating is the beer garden area and the doors lead into the restaurant. On Wednesdays there is a buffet. I'm writing this review after a stop at their buffet and I'm impressed. On Fridays they have live music; simply amazing fun! Through the year, they have several German events, including an Octoberfest. From what I hear, it's a blast! Additionally, Duolingo has started holding language events here and, separately, there is a lady who gives basic German lessons in the fall. If you are a fan of Ingress or Pokemon Go, there is a portal\Pokestop at the entrance to the park and at the restaurant.

Unique place. We went here for buffet wednesday. It was pretty new to us we were able to find some things we liked. The price isnt bad. I was glad it wasnt busy but we stopped in the moment they opened. If you are curious about german food this is the place to try it.

We stopped to eat supper tonight ( Friday). The service was fantastic. Our waitress Taylor was very sweet and kind. Very willing to offer up suggestions from the menu. We started with a warm soft pretzel and kraut balls. Probably the best pretzel and kraut balls we have ever tasted. We had Haus Grill, red cabbage, sauerkraut, green beans, spaetzel, and horseradish mashed potatoes. The food was delicious. We spent about 1.5 hours there. The atmosphere was relaxing. It was nice to be able to relax and not be in a hurry. We will definitely be back!!

The Tuesday all you can eat buffet is filling and the menu changes every week. The wait staff is challenged by a full dining room so service is slow although excellent. Friday is live music night and the beer garden is lovely.

Went to a German club food opportunity sponsored by Liederkranz German Club. This was such a popular Summer Festival that they ran out of food. Was great listening to German music and eating German food.
