I was there for the grand opening week and I wanted to come back again to experience more of the food. I love the atmosphere and the decorations were a wonderful idea. It is a great vibe and a lot of fun to visit. The appetizer, drink, and sushi were amazing and all worked very well together. There was also a lady named Tiffany that came and checked on us which was awesome. I was very happy with the food and appreciated her showing interest in how our meal was going. I had order the crispy rice cakes, the iguana, and the beach roll. When I thought about the rice cake I was thinking those snacks you ate to get you through the next meal but it was actually cubes of fried rice topped with chopped spicy tuna, it was refreshing with bright wonderful flavors. The iguana and beach are my new favorite rolls, I subbed the beach with salmon instead of crab and loved it. They both had wonderful flavors that had your mouth watering for more.

High quality and great variety make this a top choice as a sushi restaurant in the Indy area. The special happy hour pricing makes it a great value. Blue sushi has the traditional sushi rolls, but also includes many unique options including lots of vegetarian friendly rolls. Don't miss the "Shataki to me" and "Cowgirl" rolls. The crispy brussel sprouts are also excellent. The servers are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the bar has creative options on mixed drinks. overall this is a great place to eat if you're on the north side of Indianapolis.

OMG, this is by FAR the most delicious sushi place in Indy. I have to be honest, the reason for 4 stars is the service is hit or miss. One day it's phenomenal service. The next, it's very slow and you'll think the waitress forgot about you. Always very friendly though. You MUST try the Hawaiian roll and the Itchy Seabass. OMG, delectable.

The atmosphere was lovely for the birthday gathering that I attended, but I would definitely go here for date night or a meet up with a friend. The waitress was kind, attentive to our group of 7 who all arrived at different times, and honest about things that she hadn't tried. I'm not usually a sushi person, but the menu had enough variety that my vegan companions loved it and those of us who were skeptical were also able to find dishes that fit our palates. I ordered the Thriller and it was delicious! This is a great place for multiple friends to gather if they don't mind sharing because you can try different items from each other. I was able to try the Cowgirl because of this and while it is not my cup of tea, my friend loves it. It was a really great experience and I will definitely be back!

The decor is amazing. The venue is well thought out and has plenty of space. We really enjoyed the appetizers. We had several small plates and the presentation of each plate was beautiful. We also ordered a sake tasting to try some of their decent collection of sakes. The tastings came with a card to go over flavor profiles along with food pairings. Overall, I was impressed by the look and feel of the place.

Set in a brand new building made to look like an old building, Blue Sake Sushi is probably your best bet for interesting specialty rolls in Carmel. Quality and consistency are high and there are lots of vegan options. Unfortunately, the service is usually pretty poor. The GM, who sometimes waits tables, is incredibly pleasant and attentive, but her example hasn't exactly rubbed off on the disaffected wait staff quite yet.

I went for my birthday the other day and I had a great experience! Everything we ate was great (especially the brussel sprouts). The manager came over and said she heard it was my birthday and offered me a free dessert! I had the chocolate spring rolls which sounds odd but was actually amazing! They put a candle in the dessert and lit it for my birthday. Our server was wonderful and he came to check on us many times to make sure everything was great. The food was great but the great customer service makes me want to come back again and again!

Absolutely horrendous service. My group of 9 went there for a business lunch. The moment we sat down we ordered and politely let them know we were on a schedule. It took them 70 minutes to bring the food, THEN brought the checks we asked for before the food was even delivered - and took another 15 minutes to catch us out. Absolutely no consideration/ discount was offered, even after they screwed up 2 of the checks.

Me and my wife decided to try a new "sushi place" for a belated Valentine's Day celebration. We were not disappointed. The staff is fantastic, we were checked in on by our server regularly and the manager to make sure our experience was memorable. The food was stellar with some very unique and interesting dishes on offer, itchy salmon a must. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Good rolls, lettuce wraps are okay but not consistent and that shrimp dish is soggy. The tempura batter is too light for all that sauce.

I wanted to love this place. I really did. The atmosphere is great. It's very polished and stylized well. The service is fantastic and the menu is creative. There were lots of items that would raise your eyebrow in a good way and there are the classics that every sushi restaurant must begrudgingly have because of their popularity like popcorn shrimp. The appetizers were done really well but was really unforgiving was the other half of the menu. The maki rolls were so unbalanced that it took away from everything else. The rolls were about half the size of any typical restaurant in Japan. Normally I don't mind paying for the "upcharge" but when you have so little of anything, lots of flavor is lost. I chose some two rolls which had lots of flavors I like but all I could taste was the nori (dried seaweed) wrapped around one of the rolls. There were at least five things in each roll and got none of it. "Sushi" is technically the rice. There was so little of it that it's practically a garnish. Forget getting any taste of crab or tuna. Japan had perfected the perfect bite but this place somehow forgot that the recipe portions are there for a reason.

Traditionalists may frown on some of the fare here, but really, what do most traditionalists in Indiana know about sushi? So I prefer to imagine that this is what sushi would be if it was freed from the stereotypes and decided to pursue its dreams. If sushi were allowed to hang out with something other than white rice and fish oil. Bigger, bolder, more flavor... There are so many winners on this menu that it's hard to pick and every visit is a tangle with FOMO, but I always start with the Spicy Gringo, an amazing combination salmon, tuna, white fish, ginger, garlic chip, BBQ paper, serrano ponzu, shallot that presents with nothing but flavor from start to finish. The Spicy Gringo is sushi all grown up and off to live its best life.

Food was great but the service was horrible. We sat at the table for 20 minutes before a server even arrived and we even asked two servers and two hosts when someone would come to wait on us. Then our main course took another 90 minutes to arrive. If you have several hours to sit and wait wasting your time, then this is the place for you

If you're ready to take your sushi experience to the next level, this is the place to do it. Not comfortable with sushi? The accommodating staff is happy to walk you through the menu and find something delicious. Ashleigh offered exceptional service, and recognized that it was our first visit by bringing a sample of her favorite dish. Stacey the GM dropped by our table in the first 15 minutes and thanked us for visiting. She, too, offered a complimentary dish. Overall, great food, even better service, and a fantastic experience. We will be back.

Wife and I came in for lunch at noon today. Sat at the sushi bar. It took the server a few minutes longer than I would have liked to get our drink order but nothing extraordinarily long (maybe 10minutes). It did take a whole lot of time to get the actual drinks (15 min). After placing our order (3 rolls) we waited 50+ minutes before I finally told the manager we hadn’t received our order, were out of time and needed our bill. She said “ok”. She brought us our bill (with the rolls removed) then told us our rolls were coming out next and would box them up in to go containers for our trouble. We waited another 10 minutes. No rolls. We left. I can’t tell you what the sushi is like because we didn’t get to taste any in the hour and 30 minutes we were there.

I have to admit, I was anxious about how ambitious this menu reads. Many times that's an indication of pre-processed trickery or simply misunderstanding of proper technique. Neither of those is true here. This place is legit on every level. The service is amazing, the food is spectacular, and this is the big one for me. The vegan stuff...it's actually good. Really good. I hate mixing politics into anything, especially food but when it's good it's good and this is.

We came during their Sunday noon - 8 pm happy hour before a massage, and we stumbled into a great deal. The sushi was good but not the worlds freshest, still good though and a decent selection. They did not have very many eel options. They have a large vegan and vegetarian selection with everything labeled in the menu. They also had $4 house lime margaritas that I would absolutely recommend. The staff was courteous and quick, and I would go back if I was in the area and craving some sushi.

I sat at the bar and enjoyed some orange blossom rooibos tea along with the river rock beef (worth the price, in my opinion, but I'm a rock nerd) and the Eden roll. The roll was good flavor-wise but I wasn't a fan of the variety of textures. That's a personal thing though and I LOVE that they have vegan sushi options since I don't eat seafood. The tempura ice cream is about as big as a human heart so it's better to get it to share, but it was delicious anyway.

I have eaten sushi all over the US. The atmosphere is nice and the service is good. The sushi not so much. It is your run of the mill sushi. Doesnt taste fresh. I have had fresher tasting sushi from Harris Teeter. Also, the "sushi chefs" are mostly latino... not that this matters but sushi is an art not just a fast food. The pricing is way too high for the quality of food.

Went here with my family to celebrate my birthday. I had heard mixed reviews from others, but I had a coupon so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We made it in before 6:30pm on a weeknight so we got the happy hour menu, which was quite large and offered many of the regular menu items at a discounted price. The decor was very clean and nice (as is to be expected with a new restaurant). We ordered some appetizers, I would highly recommend the lettuce wraps. Then we ordered sushi. All of the rolls we ordered were good, I would recommend the Hawaiian roll and the Prince roll. The just beet it roll was just fair. Our service was slightly slow and some of our food came out way before everyone else's. Other than that it was a very pleasant experience, I would definitely return.

In short - The food is good and I appreciated the diverse menu that included a large selection of everything (even for vegans). The service has been somewhat poor on each visit and additionally I don't feel like there is very good value for the meal unless you go during happy hour at which point I'd still only give it a 3/5 value. I am unsure if I would recommend this restaurant to a friend. Personally I would only go if someone else wanted to, otherwise I won't be returning.

I discovered my love for sushi when I visited Seattle; however, I didn't think sushi in Indy would be able to match Seattle's- until this! As a vegetarian, their menu with veg options is just as refreshing as the sushi tastes. They also have lunch specials (my go to is the soup or salad with 2 orders of rolls) for a mere 12 dollars. The interior feels homey yet upscale, and the staff is pleasantly friendly. 1000% will be a regular here

Good selection of Sashimi and Nigiri. They have good hot tea and one of the few places in Indianapolis that offer urchin when available. Sever was very kind. Their take on spicy edamame was very interesting. If your not used to spicy edamame then just go with a normal edamame. Trying something new, and don't mind a little spice. Then go for it. Prices was a little high, but the size of the sashimi made a difference.

The selection of sushi roll options could be more expansive, but the selection offered is good and actually easier to deal with if you're not a seasoned sushi eater. Management was welcoming and made my first visit enjoyable. Server was attentive and helpful.

Great sushi and the waitress was wonderful. The vegetarian/vegan options were bountiful and even extended to the dessert menu! The entrance way is a little tight for seating if theyre busy, but the dining/bar area has bountiful seating so Im unsure if thats an actual problem or not for the workers. Loved the service regardless. Definitely coming back

I have mixed emotions about Blue Sushi! My husband and I love how fresh and unique the rolls are (the only reason we keep coming back) however we are incredibly disappointed about their inability to accommodate shellfish allergies. Shellfish is one of the most common allergies out there. They only have one fryer and almost every single roll/dish has something fried or includes tempurah flakes-definitely making ordering quite difficult. In addition any substitution or edit to the order to accommodate our allergy we were told was not possible. It doesn't help that the service tends to be incredibly slow and the wait staff is unenthused. Our last visit there in the restaurant our server forgot to place our appetizer order and then brought out the wrong sushi roll. Recently when we placed a to go order, there was no note on the receipt of a shellfish allergy and we had difficulty verifying with the staff that they had paid special attention to our allergy. In this day and age with the rate of food allergies and veganism on the rise you would think that restaurants would take these things into consideration and be as accommodating as possible (perhaps a second fryer is in order).

Very nice upscale sushi restaurant. Well worth the price the fish was fresh great combinations of rolls. The waitress Kim was excellent. I will be back to try different combinations. The red Bomb was superb.

I ordered the LA Crab roll and LOVED it! Great attentive service, as the server informed the manager it was our first visit. Stacy, the GM, made a point to welcome us on this first visit and said she wanted to bring us a complementary appetizer. She took the time to find out our taste preferences and any aversions, then chose which app to send to our table. Bravo on great attentive service by the whole range of staff at Blue Sushi Sake Grill; wonderful food! The vegan options are endless, unique and flavorful. Got out of my comfort zone and ordered a vegan roll with beets - phenomenal! Liked it so much I ordered another to take home and share, and I don't even like beets!!!

Slowly becoming my favorite sushi spot in the city. A little out of the way, but the sushi is so amazing that it's worth it. Such creativity in the names and flavors. I also had a wonderful tea that helped heal my sickness. I highly recommend this place! Especially on Sundays, half of sushi!!!!!

This chain has a funky atmosphere and excellent service. With many vegetarian and vegan options as well as both raw and cooked fish, it's the perfect place to take mixed groups with a variety of dietary preferences. The Cowgirl roll is a ridiculous-looking combination of foods that somehow end up tasting delicious together. Definitely check out the happy hour specials, which run for extended hours on Sundays. It was cold out when we visited, but the patio looks like it will be a fantastic option once the weather starts cooperating. I would definitely recommend this place to fans of more traditional sushi as well as more creative interpretations.

Went here for the lunch special and during the meal, we had a manager and a GM come up, greet us, and ask if there was anything they could do for us. It's hard to find 2 fresh sushi rolls and a large side salad in a really well put together restaurant for 12 bucks. Outstanding service as well. I will be back.

Great late night dinner, very cool yet comfortable setting. Love the mix of traditional and unique sushi rolls. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Only complaint is constant use of the Royal We ... "Have we been here before?" I assume *you* have, since you work here. I know it's nitpicking which is why I still gave 5 stars, but wish the habit would stop.

Meh. It is okay. Moscow mule was a little watery. The sushi rolls were not well rolled and didn't stay together. Prices are a little high for what you get. Not the worst place but not the best . Building is cool but the rest is just okay.

The food is delicious and the ambient is a dealmaker; Both fashionable with traditional inspirations and a mix of modernity. The cloud9 roll was the Best sushi i have ever tried all though it is a temporal ítem. UP there is the ichi seabass and the godzilla roll. Speaking of godzilla i love the little nod to the kaiju in one of its walls. Mark, one of the owners, treated me practically as a friend and his staff takes after his leadership so you will be treated great. I personally guarantee it.
