EXPENSIVE. But drinks are great, food is always OUTSTANDING and the atmosphere is great. Service is what you make of it...if you want to relax and take your time, they'll do that for you with no pressure. If you're ready to eat and get out, they can make that happen too. But they're always super friendly and accommodating. Weird location in Merrillville but SO worth a chance!

One of the best, if not the best restaurant in Merrillville. I've been there many times and will keep going. Perfect for special occasions. It's listed as a Thai restaurant, but the Thai food is really only like a 3rd of the menu. So their are plenty of other options if you arent interest in Thai. Specialty cocktail menu is delish and always changing. Craft beer selection is superb and had a little bit of everything. I dont drink wine, but there was an extensive wine list with very affordable prices all the way up to Dom Perignon.

Very disappointed in our experience at Asparagus. We were seated next to a very large group of about 40 celebrating a birthday. The group should have been in a private room or Asparagus should not have taken the party. Food was good, service was good but the experience was poor.

Wow so many delicious options. Great drink menu. We just did the grey goose tasting this week. Great experience. Get the avocado spring rolls and the lemon grass steak appetizers... these are better than the entrees. We come here as often as we can.

Staff was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back and I am not even a huge Thai food fan. They have a fairly varied menu for those who are unwilling to try certain dishes. It is well worth going and having a wonderful dinner and drink. The desserts are excellent as well.

The food at Asparagus is out of this world! The waiter did a very nice job handling the cook's mistake-undercooked steak & was very professional & friendly. The reason I gave Asparagus 4 stars is b/c the wait time for our appetizers was a ridiculously long time-the restaurant was empty so allow a long time if you're eating here-defininetly not a dine n' dash restaurant. Also, they are NOT kid friendly! Kids are welcome of course but the atmosphere is quiet & refined & there is NO kid's menu & no adult food to substitute. No French fries or even kid friendly drinks. Kind of irresponsible of the owners for this day & age if ya ask me. But if you're looking for a fabulous dining experience for adults not on a time crunch, definitely try this little restaurant. You will be pleasantly surprised!

Kept tasting overwhelming hints of cinnamon in everything. I agree with other reviews, it's overhyped because of lack of Thai restaurants in the area. 5 star Thai is definitely more authentic. I won't be back.

I'll say Thai food and I have never seen eye-to-eye. I was a bit nervous heading in but when I left I was hooked on Asparagus. Everything was delicious. From the appetizers to dessert all of us agreed it was wonderful. I will definitely go back.

Started with Banh Cuon (vietnamese ravioli) and it was very good. My main dish was the Pineapple Shrimp (a good heat to it but not overly hot) and my wife had the Red or Green Curry Chicken and opted for the Green. Both were large portions and excellent!

This restaurant is a very nice fine dining experience. The atmosphere is white table cloth elegant. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and from scratch. It wasn't the greatest Asian food I've eaten but it was good. I am struggling with the extremely high prices for this type of food. Each dish was over priced by $3 to $8 dollars. This is an Asian restaurant with stake house prices. They do have some unique martini drinks and dishes. It is definitely worth a try but be prepared to open your wallet wide.

Really lovely restaurant and experience. We really enjoyed the elegant chic decor, it was subtle at first glance, but while enjoying dinner and glancing about you really start to pick up on the details in the decor. It was very tastefully done. The service was very good. Our server was attentive, she was helpful with recommendations, and she readily accommodated special requests. The curry dishes that we selected were delicious. My husband had the Banana Duck Curry, while I stayed a bit more timid with the Red Tofu Curry. We ate all of our food, it was too amazing to stop. We started dinner with a shrimp satay appetizer and the Crunchy Seafood Roll, the sauces for both appetizers were filled with bold, fresh flavors. We ended with Flourless Chocolate Cake which stayed true to the meal and was delicious. They have a full bar and a nice beer and wine selection. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean. Again, it was an exceptionally good dining experience.

The food here is good and so is the ambience. Good service too. But the 3 stars because the tofu I had in my curry had a weird texture. It was rubbery. But the curry tasted good. So it made up for the disastrous tofu.

First time there and it was a very nice experience, the service was great, the waiter actually remembered my wife from weeks ago, well because "She's a Looker!" The food was delicious and the menu had a variety of items to choose from, I will be going back soon, and recommend everyone to try.

I've been to Asparagus about 4 or 5 times, twice as a non vegan and the last 3 times as a vegan. EVERY single time I've come, I have been satisfied with my meal. This last time my kids were with us and one of my sons has a peanut allergy. I told the server about his allergy and they thoughtful made each of our entrees peanut free to avoid any mishaps. In addition to that, our server Cassandra (I think) was excellent while attending to our needs. Very pleased with the overall service!

Not worth the visit. Food was bland and unappetizing. The "appetizer" was bitter and distasteful. The main course duck was dry, and served in a mass of gummy, non-descriptive, and dull mix of various grains. The only ambiance was loud ebonic discussion from the bar.

I've never had a bad meal at Asparagus. The Mossomon curry and the Banana Duck curry are both the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, and most dishes are not just delicious but also served in large portions. The martini list is also filled with tasty combinations and many exotic ingredients.

Excellent restaurant that easily brings Asian flavors and dishes in a way and setting far above the traditional Chinese restaurant. The food, no matter what I have ordered is always delicious, the atmosphere is upscale without feeling stuffy, and the prices are on par with what you would expect to find at a local gourmet eatery. Service is great, even when busy. Reservations are highly recommended, as when it is busy, there is no guarantee that a walk in will get seated.
