I see other reviewers bashing this place as basic. I disagree completely, I am not from Fort Wayne but grew up in Southern California. I have had sushi all over the country and I can tell you the sushi here is amazing! Very fresh and well priced for what you get! I highly recommend the white lightning roll and the tempora avocado!

Great dishes and perfect portion sizes for hungry people! Atmosphere is the best quality of the place though, it's dark, pretty, tables are semi-private, and you can watch them make sushi from a low-lit bar. Beautiful And the sushi is top-notch! I suggest the white lightning roll to any who like sushi and haven't tried it, I'm addicted now!

I've had better sushi in Texas & California, but Asakusa is my favorite in Indiana (so far). I love their squid salad. The sushi rolls are so thick that they barely fit in my mouth, but I manage. The clear soup is as good as any I have ever had.

Asakusa is my go to place for sushi. Fish is very fresh with appropriate texture. It is the only place I am comfortable with ordering sashimi. They also have other great Japanese dishes, some that are very different, and common favorites. Having basics is great when picky children come along. Favorite restaurant ever.

My absolute favorite chicken teriyaki. Love the clear soup and ginger dressing salad. I'm very full when I eat here. Haven't explored the menu yet but they have such a variety of wonderful looking items.

I like this Sushi place! The prices are pretty much on par with other sushi joints, maybe a tad pricier (in my opinion). We ordered some special rolls and chicken teriyaki to share. I have to say, this was the first time I wanted to eat all of the chicken, even the leftovers! It tasted sooooo good.

The decor from the outside gives you the impression of susham (sushi American). On the contrary, it's decent, semi formal on the inside. The sushi surprisingly is above average with good fresh ingredients. I did it try anything else, hence I can’t elaborate further.

We'd found Asakusa on a whim while in the shopping plaza where Uncle Bill's pet store is located. We'd seen it and finely went when kid free and had some time to kill. Best "Why Not?" experience ever. The food is fabulous, the atmosphere is fantastic. It is a treat, and a great way to experience Japanese cuisine. Asakusa has since become a must to go to when we have time to enjoy a sit down meal. Asakusa may as well be a 5 star restaurant compared to most other eateries in and around Ft. Wayne. It easily beats Don Hall's Takaoka in flavor, authenticity, price, service and atmosphere. Sadly the Uncle Bill's location closed due to lack of staff, now it is just the Lima Road location.

It was my birthday today, and this was where I chose to get my special dinner. My fiancee ordered the Tokyo Roll, I ordered the steak teriyaki, and we split an Aloha Roll. All three dishes were delicious. The steak came with a large dollop of steamed white rice, a side salad with their amazing citrus ginger dressing, and a clear soup with green onions, mushrooms and tempura crunches. The steak was ordered rare, and they cooked it perfectly. There was a perfect amount of steak/mushrooms for the amount of rice, which sounds like a silly thing to notice, but it is annoying when you have to little rice for something with a powerful flavor like teriyaki, or so much more rice than you need because that dilutes the flavor. The whole meal was well under $50, and well worth every penny. We usually eat in the restaurant, but this time we brought it home, and the speed with which they had our order ready - exactly as long as they quoted on the phone - was as good as the careful manner in which they packaged everything. We've been patrons for a while, both of this Lima Road location and their former location on West Jefferson, and they have literally never once given us any reason for complaints.

Our server... Was awful. The attitude and he just didn't care. Management comped our appetizers. We were there for about 45 minutes, had our appetizers and never had our server come back around to get our order. The appetizers were fantastic. Will have to try another time and hope they took care of the server. It was not busy at all when we were there.

Service a bit slow. Food was good though. Second time here and service was terrible and they weren't even busy. Over 10 minutes to get our two drinks. 10 minutes later order placed. Her order arrived as ordered...my deep fried sushi came when she was almost done eating. Waitress told us she would take some off bill for inconvenience. When she brought bill apologized because she forgot to take percentage off ..didn't want to wait any longer for her to correct it so paid the full price. Sorry but won't be back a third time, in the restaurant for an hour and 15 minutes...only to have order messed up.

Now here is a restaurant that deserves talking about. SUSHI, the best I've personally ever had. It's a small place, maybe 20 tables and seating at the sushi bar maybe 8 swivel stools, forgive me for not remembering. The last few times we ate there I just ordered take out. They have sushi, maki rolls, soups (Two varieties) salad and steak for non sushi lovers. They serve alcohol, beer domestic and imported, some wine and saki. I'm not sure about hard liquor, I rarely drink and when I have alcohol with a meal it's usually beer or wine. Anyway. The establishment is clean and well kept, cheerful, friendly staff and excellent food. I would order the unagi (eel) on sticky rice and a Spicey Dragon roll(or two) a bowl of miso soup and a chilled Heineken. So do yourself a HUGE favor and visit Asakusa's if you love sushi, if you've never had it you should try it and I can't think of a better place to start. Bon Appetit.

An avid sushi lover- eaten in Japan, Hawaii, Vancouver, California, Seattle, etc. Ordered an entire line up of sashimi... was told the Uni (sea urchin) was fresh, was absolutely horrible. Ate the tuna (maguro), had an end/awful cut of the fish and just threw up twice 30 minutes after consumption. Salmon was good, but the fishiness of the rest of the sashimi was too much to overcome... even with Sake & beer. Stay clear if want to avoid being lied to about the preparation of your fish.

Asakusa doesn't give the best first impression from the outside, but it's lovely on the inside. The restaurant atmosphere is semi formal, plays gentle classical piano music, and offers dining in a wooden booth or at the sushi bar. This was my first experience with Japanese cuisine, and I shared my meal with a friend who speaks Japanese and has travelled to Japan, and she is of the opinion that it is the most authentic Japanese restaurant in the area. I ordered several appetizers (avocado tempura, steamed dumplings, soft shell crab, and clear soup) and two small sushi plates. Im not a big fan of sushi, so I can't comment in the quality. Call me crazy, but the Clear Soup was my favorite dish. Soup is most often average/boring in my world, but this was superb! Full of unique flavors, yet it was familiar and simple, and satisfying, and was served nice and hot. The service was friendly, quick, attentive, and discrete. Elephant question in the room - my fellow diners were all Caucasian. I'd try it again, but won't become a regular customer. Hope you try this experience for yourself! Enjoy!

This place never disappoints I Remember eating here for the first 8 years ago not wanting to try this nasty stuff called Sushi but my friend encouraged me to try a California roll and my mind had trouble with the joy my tounge was reporting. After my brain had time to process what it had just experienced IT WANTED MORE!! Me and my family now come once a week and we will continue... this place is great. Try the Alamo, Texas, spicey California and the dragon roll... my mouth is watering Try a hot water with lemon with your meal

I think people in Indiana must be a bit too generous with their star reviews. Asakusa was decent, but definitely not 4.5 stars. Nothing special, very basic flavoring on the pallette. I think for someone who just wants to "go get sushi" at a decent price they will be very happy with it but someone who knows good sushi will leave disappointed. Presentation was definitely sub par, three different rolls looked basically identical. Good sushi presentation should look like art.

Great friendly service. Subdued, romantic and casual ambience. Food was pretty good. It was on par with other area Japanese restaurants. Although the ginger salad drsssing was thicker, more orange and too sweet for my liking, in comparison with others I've tasted. Clear soup was tasty. Ordered the lunch Bento box with Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura and a California roll. California roll was .75 extra. In addition, Asakusa charged $1 extra to sub soy paper for seaweed paper and didn't tell me beforehand. However, when I objected to the charge, they promptly removed it for me and my guest. California roll was fantastic! Shrimp & Vegetable tempura only came with 2 shrimp so that was disappointing. I didn't like all the nickel and diming for various items. Overall though, I'd return if I were in the area.
