This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Brunch restaurant.
The food & service is always good. If you want a good no frills meal this is the place. It's rarely overcrowded so little to no waiting. Don't forget to grab a chocolate covered mint (or 2) on the way out.
Sinead took such great care of us! She was an amazing waitress! All the staff were smiling and looked like they enjoyed their jobs. Food was so yummy! A must stop if you're visiting Chicago!
Always bring my out of town family here when the visit Chicago and they are never disappointed.
The girls that sit you and takes your order are rude. I would visit this location before work but Ive stopped. I can spend my money elsewhere.
Five stars! Very fast service and the food was great. I recommend the Morning Burger, medium rare with a sunny side up egg. It sure is messy, but fun!
Pot roast eggs Benedict? Yes please.
One of the best fresh brunch places I have been to. The prices are moderate and the service is great
Yummy. 8 of us dined there and all of us was pleased.
Food was good. Nice decor.Staff supportive.
My go-to late breakfast joint. Never a bad meal!
Perfect place to eat ! Everyone is really friendly
Breakfast place with some good options and great flavors. They seated us quicky and service was great. A little price, but overall worth it.
Nice place to grab breakfast! Friendly staff!
Got off the Metra and it's right inside. Service and food was very good
Wonderful place great food beautiful and tasty coffee was excellent
Definitely a breakfast place worth visiting! The prices are very fair and the portions are large! I would love to be able to live downtown so I could come here to eat more often. If you're from the Western suburbs, then you would know about Buttermilk, and this place compares to the quality of Buttermilk!!
I love their breakfast. Great food!
Good breakfast place.
Excellent service and good food!
Awesome place to meet for breakfast with a co-worker before work! Very quick service and the food was great!
Really friendly amazing waitress, good food, and large portions.
Quite simply scrumptious french toast, with coffee that's great and bottomless too!
Amazing fresh selections of entree and fresh squeezed juices. Bright and airy atmosphere. High vaulted ceilings so a bit loud.
Tried out this great breakfast place in the SW corner of the Metra Train Station at 500 Madison. The Yolk was really great! I had the biscuits and gravy with a scrambled egg and a few potatoes. Also at the table was a Breakfast Sandwich- with fried egg, feta , bacon, pesto sauce and cheese. Both were great. Portion size was just right . Price was average for a breakfast place so not too bad. Service quick and efficient. Got there about 9:30 am on a Sat morning. Good coffee. Place was clean and had 2-3 tables that could hold 6 or 8 people. Mostly set for tables of 4. I liked that this was easy to get to in the Station. For sure I will bring people back again!
Would give 6 stars if I could! Great wait staff, friendly environment, somewhat pricey but the food was fantastic.
Big menu, lots to choose from. Service was quick and attentive. Solid choice if you're looking for standard American breakfast. Only complaint is that it felt a chain restaurant (it is), and there are no alcohol options so no bloody Mary's or mimosas.
Food was incredible, tasted like homemade. Killer hot sauces, and awesome coffee. Worth the somewhat hefty price. Solid service and unique, cute atmosphere. Would eat here more often if I lived closer.
Dude this stuff slaps!! Best brrakfast!!
Fantastic food and exceptional service in a bright but relaxing atmosphere. Ask for Stephanie's section. She'll take great care of you!
Great for dining in for breakfast.
Pretty long wait for a Friday lunch. Came with friends and I'm not much into breakfast food so I opted for a lunch sandwich. It was just ok. I won't be coming back but if breakfast is really your thing then maybe. I still think there are better places in the area.
Yolk is my favorite Loop breakfast restaurant. Staff is super friendly and attentive.
Good food! Lovely location
First time at this Yolk location. Food is still amazing and the location is easy to find located inside the southwest corner of the train station. You can find street parking on Clinton a couple blocks away or at the parking garage nearby.
Favorite brunch place in Chicago! It's tasty and inexpensive for a gourmet breakfast!
The red velvet french toast is breakfast heaven. Great service, nice atmosphere.
Great employees, food, atmosphere and service! You also get a lot of food for what you pay for!
This a great place to eat brunch while at work. The food selection is wonderful. I have bern several times and yet i still find new items on the menu.
Great food
It was so good, the food came really quickly and the waitress was very nice
Great service and not usually as crowded as other breakfast places in the loop.
We had an amazing breakfast here. The service was friendly and the food was fantastic. Definitely splurge on the strawberry OJ.
The food was delicious and very generous, especially for the price. The hot sauce is spicy and yummy.. and cheese grits. Service was fast. But the coffee was kind of miserable with a sour aftertaste
Good and reliable breakfast. Lunch too. Good coffee and decent enough service. There are several locations and all are pretty much the same in terms of reliability and taste. I highly recommend the blueberry waffles and a side of bacon. And don’t forget the coffee.
Wonderful Visit
Great options for make your own scramble
Yolk never disappoints food good service good.
Super creative menu! I had the Berry French Toast, and it was delicious ~a melody of a Greek yogurt/honey/granola parfait and fluffy French toast. My sister had the chicken and waffles, and she enjoyed those as well. The strawberry orange juice is a must! I will definitely return, and maybe try the Streeterville location
Much better service than last time. Our waitress was great! The Tuna is my favorite thing unless I get breakfast. Then it's All good. The kiddos love the pancakes covered in chocolate on top of more chocolate.
Staff was friendly. Food was ok.
Great crepes! Great service!
Great food and service.
Perfect service, the food was soooo good. Price is correct for the quality and the quantity you get. I’ve loved it !!
The food here is fantastic and it has a nice homemade taste to it. I came on a Saturday so it was quite packed but I had booked a reservation so when we arrived I was seated almost immediately. The service was also very friendly and nice and they recommended us some of their best dishes. Overall yolk did not disappoint and it is a great place to grab a tasty bite to eat.
The food was great as I have come to expect, however the service was extremely slow even though it was not busy. Arrived at 7am and our server did not take our order till almost 7:30 even after attempting to get her attention. The food did not arrive for 25 minutes and then we had to rush to finish, even though the order was just a couple eggs and plain pancakes. Overall would go back again due to the quality of the food but hope that the service speed and responsiveness will be better next time.
Great selections. Excellent service. Wonderful food quality. All this in a very convenient location.
Perfect, moderately priced brunch/breakfast food. Fast service, good quality food. I would recommend splitting entrees as the portions are rather large. I've been to this location twice and visited other Yolks in Chicago. Quite busy on weekends (as per usual) so call ahead and reserve!
Portions getting smaller and service isn't as nice as it is at inner locations. Great food though
Great place before work. Good food, love the skillet. Skillet isn't too expensive about $14. It's clean and the service is good. At 6:30 am on a Friday it was almost empty. It gets busier though as rush hour and metras come in
Very good for a bite. I would try, everything!
Mediocre food, mediocre service, bad attitude from management make for a less than pleasant breakfast. Crepes tasted more like tortillas.
Absolutely love this place for breakfast. The strawberry orange juice, Very Berry French Toast and Santa Fe Frittatas (with Yolk hot sauce) are a must try.
Surprisingly easy to get a table. Excellent service, reasonable prices and good menu & food
everything was way too rich and heavy. my scrambled eggs tasted more like cream than egg. i definitely could not eat a full meal. even though i shared 2 meals between 3 people, we couldn't finish.
Great food and service. Nice atmosphere.
Good food, quick service considering it was a Sunday morning. Would recommend if you’re in the area.
This photo does not do this meal any justice. Never disappointed when I have brunch at Yolk.
Bright clean environment, great service, tons of menu options, and really tasty food. Eater beware: the portions are HUGE -- you might want to share.
I have been to this location twice now, and both times I had bad service. The first time my waiter forgot about me. I was never able to get a refill on my coffee, and I had to flag someone else down to even get my bill because he was nowhere to be found. This morning I went in for a to-go coffee and scone. A scone, which I said three times and the girl nodded and said yes but failed to charge me for. Then when she handed me a coffee without the cream I asked for I said again I wanted a scone, and after some thought she finally said we don't have any. Sorry but twice in a row, and I won't go back.
Can’t go wrong with Yolk!
Huge variety of menu options! Unique and delicious. My go to breakfast/brunch spot whenever I'm in Chicago
Very similar food, quality, and service to the Streeterville location. Food was just slightly better at Streeterville spot, but not by much.
Yolk as you can imagine it everything you imagine with all day breakfast (which is always good) but they do have a nice selection of non breakfast options like salads and wraps which are very big (and good!). The asian salad is a great go to. Only negative is they don't serve any alcohol so if you are properly brunching you can byo champagne and order orange juice.
The service is really good. Food quality and taste is good too. I recommend “Nutty Monkey Cake” & “Nutella Crepes”
I go here about once a month to meet my friends in the city. ALWAYS GREAT FOOD and excellent service! Yummy! ☆☆☆☆☆
For what the food is here, it's way too expensive. I paid 3 dollars for bottomless coffee and never got topped off or a refill. For two people it cost me $40 for simple breakfast food I should have just made at home.
Everything is tasty (really, everything), and nice-sized portions. I had a delicious 5-egg omelet: "Hey, Rickey!" (spicy/hispanic).
Every thing I’ve ordered from here has been super bland and disappointing. My most recent item was a turkey burger (which I know is a risk). But it’s like they’re allergic to salt & pepper, even! Just a tasteless thin patty that even pepper jack cheese could not save. And when I asked for mayo, it cost extra for *packets* so are they hurting for money over there? One thing that should have been great was the breakfast wrap, which I had the time before this, and that was also bland and the eggs seemed default fake rather than an option for cracked, real eggs. Overpriced mediocre diner food that makes money off its location from suburbanites and other visitors who don’t know any better.
Good breakfast...my great friendly service. Favorable pricing.
Pretty much the only place I'll get breakfast from when I travel to Chicago.
The food was amazing. I got the All Star Yolk Combo and ate every bite. The sausage was some of the best I've ever had. The eggs were really good and the cinnamon roll was unbelievable.
It wasn't bad, but not super great either. I really liked the Chilaquiles and the red velvet french toast. The coffee was meh as was the caprese eggs Benedict. I'd go back though. It's a good lazy brunch spot.
Very good food but a little pricey. You will leave here stuffed with no matter what you order
Great breakfast spot. Friendly staff. No wait time at all at 9am on a Sunday. The red velvet french toast is a must get!
There was a mosquito and fly buzzing around today. Potatoes a little undercooked and curdling half and half from the table dish. Service was friendly and the eggs and pancakes were good. Not my favorite place but convenient to Ogilvie commuters.
Good food, friendly service.
Their strawberry orange juice was amazing, definitely worth it. Their food overall was great but I wasn't a fan of the cheese grits. Still, I would go again. Staff was friendly and fast, and this was during their busy time. Bacon waffles were delicious.
Excellent meal and service.
Marvelous service, marvelous food, marvelous experience! Visiting from Cleveland, OH I will definitely recommend people to come here if you're a visitor!
This food was so amazing!! The cinnamon roll French toast is the way to go. I can’t wait to go back
Good food, good service, really noisy
Had the Loaded Baked Potato Pancakes, I will crave them for the rest of my life! The service is excellent, every staff member is friendly and attentive, and the menu is creative. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
This is one of the best places to get great breakfast. But the staff are not as great. We had a reservation for 5 and they would not let us sit until all 5 were there. 4 of us were already there and they made us wait outside until the 5th person came. Never experienced that kind of rule anywhere.
Great place for brunch. Large options at reasonable rates.
BYOB! Solid breakfast/brunch grub
Yolk is incredibly consistent. The food is always of high quality - something like the freshness of the berries (blueberries that are huge and full of flavor) to the quality of the baked goods keeps me coming back, but the service is always top-notch as well (looking at you, Jacqueline!), with bringing drink refills before the previous glass is empty. It's the details that make the difference here, and a patron is able to notice them because Yolk gets the other stuff right.
Great food, services and prices
Food was great! Try the Red velvet French toast. Service was a little slow but it was Fathers day at noon so they were very busy...
Lots of excellent choices, service was great and portions we're more than expected
Little pricey but delicious
Surprisingly this experience was mediocre. Good service but the food was just okay. I have dined here before and it was terrific. This time not so much. I may visit again.
Always great place for breakfast!
Been going here for brunch ever since I started visiting Chicago as a tourist. Now that I live here, it’s still a top choice. Highly recommend the pot roast Benedict, but be warned, it’s a lot of food to handle. Staff is friendly and the coffee is hot- good quality breakfast joint for locals or for tourists.
Food was delicious. Server was great and very personable
Great place for brunch! Delicious food and so much to choose from!
I need to go back but I was surprised at how inexpensive and fresh everything was. The taste was great and they had some cool things on the menu. My mentor had this loaded omelette thing. It was AMAZING!!!! Ask them about it. It was HUGE!!!
Good food. Service was slow (despite their marketing saying they were speedy)
First place I had breakfast in Chicago and I returned many times post. Each meal was hearty and satisfying (especially great in the cold weather). I loved the choice of savoury and sweet - the red velvet pancakes in particular were decadent and great value! I received particular good service from the waitress Krystyna who made me feel really at home when dining on my own, topping up my coffee and having friendly chats. I would 100% recommend eating here.
Cinnamon Roll French Toast is delicious. But don't order steel cut oats. You will be disappointed because they taste like instant oats.
Yolk has a great menu, accommodating vegetarian diets as well which was a big plus for my wife. The cinnamon roll French toast is a home run, though it was very sweet. Their house made hot sauce is great, smoky and not overly hot. The super hot one is good too, more mustard like but just a little too much for me. Even though it was a Saturday morning it wasn't too crowded and we got right in. Very good service, very clean. Clean bathrooms. Would recommend
It's delicious and I want to go back
Loved the place, staff is very good
Service was good. Very friendly waitress (especially when she found out that I was from out of town). The food was a little bland. The waffle was good with a lot of bacon in it (yay). But the chicken breast was very bland and actually detracted from the overall meal.
Great food and always hopping
It's challenging to find a "sit down" breakfast in the loop. Yolk is on the ground floor of Ogilvie Metra station, making it a convenient location for breakfast meetings or to just catch up with friends. I've been to this restaurant about 5 times and have found there are a variety of options to meet most tastes - from bacon and sausage gravy lovers to vegetarians and vegans. Service can be a bit hit or miss, but I think that comes with the territory for a restaurant open at 6 am, but the tasty food and good coffee more than make up for it.
The food looked so good but then my stomach started to hurt. Just when I finish eating. I went in for red velvet crepes and sausage links. They were delicious but they were to sugary. Service was okay. But the server wouldn’t take my order because she said “you look like someone that is working here, so I didn’t want to take your order.” The place was somewhat empty. It was my first time experience but honestly I didn’t like the breakfast. I felt like the sausage links where just microwaved they were undercooked from the inside. I won’t be coming back. Sorry YOLK, you lost one of your customers.
Really good takes on breakfast. Just make sure to check your order before you leave if you're getting takeout.
The food was absolutely delicious! Our server Matt was very polite and attentive. The portions were huge in our opinion and definitely worth the money.
The food was very good. I liked the menu and the wide array of options, which I was not expecting with a name like Yolk. Their house made sauce is AMAZING and you definitely have to try. The strawberry orange juice is great and I highly recommend starting with the carafe instead of individual glasses.
solid breakfast spot. I always go for their breakfast mac & cheese. My BF loves Their habanero sauce & we actually have a bottle of it at home.
A nice place for breakfast anytime. It's like eggspectation.
The food was phenomenal and the staff was very personable. Everyone was very polite and made great suggestions on what to order. Staff was also very attentive.
The food is great and staff is friendly. Definitely want to go back. Portions are perfect sizing and I was full all day.
Such a refreshing upbeat atmosphere & the food was delicious!
Delightful breakfast early on Saturday morning when my husband had to work. He enjoyed his Croque Madame (savory and sweet). I enjoyed my Pot Roast Benedict (meaty and tender). Plus they are located in Ogilvie Station, so no lost time in a time-crunched morning.
The French Toast was AWESOME!
Always delish fresh food that's hot when u get it. Egg whites and a side of fruit make it guilt free! Friendly staff too.
Surprisingly easy to get a table. Excellent service, reasonable prices and good menu & food. It's on the street level of the train station, not basement.
Convenient and delicious! I had the bacon waffles and a flat white, and I regretted nothing. Quick and friendly service, too!
Came here with friends during a busy weekend. The food was pretty good (portion size was huge since a lot of us could barely finish the whole thing) and fairly priced.
Convenient breakfast and lunch location.
Loved the breakfast mac and cheese
Always my favorite place for breakfast when I visit Chicago. There is something for everyone on their menu for the brunch crowd. I implore you to check out Yolk for a great start to your day.
Ambiance was great, so was service. No vegan options, but a few scrumptious looking vegetarian options. The juices were fresh and delicious.
Great breakfast food! It was so hard to pick something from the menu everything looked so good. Waffles are perfect. The strawberry orange juice is yummy. Seating is nice and service was good. Can’t wait to go back:)
Quick friendly service. Everything was great and portions were bigger than expected
Amazing food and great service!
I've always wanted to eat at Yolk and finally got the chance. Great food and service. Lots of options. Pretty reasonably priced for Chicago.
The service was fantastic, the staff is very friendly. My only minor grief was the five egg omelette did not live up to it's size (but it was super tasty) and I felt slightly shorted on potatoes. Only slightly.
Good option to take breakfast !!!!
Excellent service, very nice and efficient staff. But then... Overcooked omelet (by a very large margin), dry pan cakes, tasteless coffee. All of this at a premium price. Definitely not a good deal.
Very nice breakfast, my go to breakfast spot when I'm over in Chicago
I went there for bunch on Saturday. It was busy. We waited for 10 minutes to get seated. Our order was taken without much delay. We ordered the chilaquillas and an omelette. Both were good. We also ordered some french toast, and that was good as well. Overall it's a great place to get brunch near the West Loop.
So.delicious. This restaurant made us wish we lived in Chicago so we could come here all the time. We got Caprese eggs benedict, corn beef hash, and a banana pancake and it was one of the best meals we've had in Chicago. Great service, fun atmosphere, reasonable price.
We had a terrific server, Jackie who enhanced our experience. Creative menu. We tried two scrambles which were tasty, smoked salmon and a Mexican one with chorizo and salsa verde.. However cheese grits were very bland and we were charged 1.00 to sub fruit for potatoes.
One of best brunch place if you are an egg fan. They have good varieties of egg dishes. Pan cakes are also good.
Average breakfast food. Sat at table next to buss tubs with service staff throwing silver and plates. Needless to say, it was so loud I couldn't hold a conversation with my guest.
Great brunch place at the metra station.
Sitting down for a good breakfast prior to a little Christmas shopping
Good food, great service, a bit pricey.
Great bunch with excellent service
Great breakfast and staff!
Mark was the friendliest waiter I've ever met! He was super helpful. He's the kind of people you want to meet on a Sunday morning. Yolk, give him a promotion! ;-)
Always great service and delicious food. Stephanie was really nice.
Terrible terrible terrible food!!!! Yolk!!!! Really I swear those were powdered eggs. My order came with cheesy grits that were the consistency of soup and tasteless. The waitress clearly could see that I was not enjoying my food because I didn't eat it. She never tried to ask why just handed me the bill. No thanks to revisiting Yolks.
Great brunch spot. Large portions, I could've split entrees. Very berry french toast is the best!
This is my favorite Yolk location! The food is always delicious and always consistent. All of the wait staff that I have had the pleasure of having have always been kind and great at their jobs. Yolk always has a special pancake of the month, which are usually so tasty! And their menu is diverse. Always a pleasure to eat here.
Pretty busy through the morning and lunch but quick service
