Uncommon Ground was incredible place for our 10th year reunion. The space , food everything was amazing . A big shout out to Don and Tyler for helping us make this event so special. Thank you
Excellent selection of fresh, delicious foods! Love the collaboration with Green Star Brewing. We shared a chopped salad and green star bbq chicken with fresh vegetables, which was more than enough for two. Friendly s attentive service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. I found them through a Wired article. They grow most of their produce on-site and get their meats from Gunthorp Farms in Indiana. The owners home was also featured in the local green home tour in 2014.
Very good food. Had a bit of a hiccup being seated during Sunday brunch (even though there were tables available) and they ironed it out eventually. It was very loud in the bar and north room so we sat in the west room and that was quiet enough that my spouse and I could hear each other. We both ordered the root veggie hash with and egg and it was very good. The unicorn tears hot sauce was very nice. We had a Belgium waffle Sunday and also coffee. The bill was kind of up there for breakfast but we did this on a whim and chalk it up to experience and were very satisfied with the food. The server was very nice and professional and the food came fast and hot. The coffee was strong and fresh and good, much better than most restaurant coffee. I recommend, however, it is not an inexpensive breakfast. I will say that the veggie and vegan options make the price almost worth it, but I can get relatively the same food at Pick Me Up Cafe for half the cost and I'm pretty sure Chicago Diner is also cheaper. This is very good, gourmet bar food, but you're not getting out for a bargain price if that's a factor.
The food here is really great. The sweet potato fries are perfect! They have some good beers here too, though might be worth trying before you commit. I wasn't a fan of all of them. Service was excellent, employees likes what they were doing, the music venue it awesome!! Do check it out. A bit expensive but you should expect that for the food quality.
Highly recommend the sweet potato fries with goat cheese fondue and the salmon. Delicious and super fresh. Good service and great outdoor seating area. It's a little expensive but well worth it.
Nice restaurant fast service. I like their restrooms.!
The meatloaf is incredible.
First time going there. We went on a Tuesday night. The drinks were great. However we placed an order for dinner right away. Ended up waiting 40 mins for our food. The waiter was no where to be seen. It look like he was serving a bigger party and we were left behind. I had to ask for the hostess for our food. Server apologize, he was too late. I am very unsatisfied and won't be going back.
A dream come true! Amazingly unique flavors and best experience. Can't wait to try breakfast.
Delicious food made with a lot of organic ingredients. The food is a bit pricey, but is totally worth it. The drinks are different and delicious. The best time to go here is during the cooler months, because it has a great, cozy atmosphere. Great for brunch too!
Amazing food, great service, loved the art on the walls. Next time will come hear live music!
Cool place. Speciality beers. Interesting menu. Middle to high meal prices. Great atmosphere.
I love their food and their drinks but it's a bit pricey for us to go there as often as we wished. :( . A fun and friendly place to take your friends from out of town. Highly recommended
This place goes up and down with their menu but the food is good I have always had a good meal and glass of wine here
Very laidback vibes/atmosphere. The staff were very friendly. 5/5 stars would recommend.
Uncommon Ground had a very hipster atmosphere but isn't pretentious. Staff are happy to explain the menu and brag about how everything comes from their urban garden. I got french toast for breakfast. The food was good but I felt like the prices were way too high. The coffee is very good too.
Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and bacon wrapped meatloaf!
Please stop by and enjoy Scott Ament art.
Fantastic food and service. A real stand out in Chicago, imho.
The food was delicious. Flavors popped from inspired pairings. The local IPA hit the sweet spot (for me) on both hops and citrus. [I didn't give the last star because service was just Ok, and it was not very crowded.]
Great food that is not your average big vendor meat feel...more grass fed and all natural ingredients. Down to earth with amazing organic beers! Indoor and outdoor seating, and vegetarian options.
Chicken, waffle, and eggs Benedict?! Who knew this combination of sweet/savory snd crunchy/smoothly deliciousness would forever change my definition of brunch? Divine. Majestic. I heart you.
The epitome of fresh, organic, natural, and delicious food and drinks. If I had the money I'd eat here more often. Just don't show up for open mic night unless you want to hear an acoustic song about Iowa from some girl waiting for her friends to show up so she can play it again.
Great food, good craft beers, excellent service!! Will be going back!!
I performed at the You're Being Ridiculous storytelling event. Great venue, menu, and drinks. I'll be returning just to enjoy a night out. Spaceship IPA is da beer, lemon/ginger Martini is on point. If the rear parking lot looks packed, maybe avoid it...entering/exiting into the alley is a challenge when packed. But, that's just a heads up.
Nice place good food 3 1/2 stars. Was a bit let down from other reviews. The meatloaf was good but not legondary.
Wish it was closer so I could go more often!
Excellent service. No wait for weekday lunch. Accommodating for our baby, and for food allergies. Oh, and the food was awesome!
Fresh ingredients. A great variety of choices to include gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian dishes. Don't worry, plenty of meat dishes too. A little pricey.
Fair service, a little slow. Food is good, not exceptional, but expensive--for what they charge it should be remarkable. Great patio.
On game day, we came for an organic beer and enjoyed VERY good beer and VERY good service. We love this place.
Took my 92 yr old mother. Can't remember the last time I saw her SO enjoy a meal! She's been raving abt it ever since.
Try to visit the rooftop farm if you can. It's incredible! The food and drinks are great too.
Cool venue for small shows. The Cobb salad is a little overdone, simply too much, but was good. Beer selection is unique.
Best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. The buzzy bee latte changed my life. I now make my lattes with honey.
This restaurant has been a strong advocate of the farm to table and eat local movements for over a decade. Their menu changes regularly. They always have great seasonal produce, often grown on their roof. My wife and I have been coming here for 15 years. They never disappoint! Great food and wonderful drinks. They also offer good vegan options.
I would give this place 10 Stars amazing food amazing service!!!!
Always delivers on beer and comfort food. Service was pretty good.
Was once a favorite; however, sadly this neighborhood place has gone downhill. Saturday morning at 10:45 the place is virtually empty (3 tables) and fully staffed with staff walking all over. We sat 10 minutes and not one person greeted us once seated. Not even a request for coffee. Sad as I like to support neighborhood restaurants. Fortunately we went down the block to Cozy Corner, the place was packed and the service better.
The atmosphere is great! Love the food and the selection
Food and service are always incredible. Great ambiance especially when the fireplace is going.
Great waiter who took great care of our party. The food was great! We will be back as a family.
Their grilled cheese and tomato soup were very good! Crispy break and gooey cheese! The restaurant was funkily decorated and had a nice vibe. Will definitely return to try out the rest of their menu.
Nice location. Has its own parking lot. Nice seating inside and outside. No rooftop seating as that is where the vegetables grow. Menu is decent. I found it to be about 4 stars. Decent quality. Some food items were great while others were ok.
This is an amaizng spot for brunch...on of my favorites in the city! Always have fresh food and change the menu every once in awhile for new plates. Added bonus is live music in the evening.
This was the second time I've been here. This was an even more pleasant experience and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the restaurant as well as green star brewery. Yet Joseph told us this was only his second day working! We ordered the cheese curds and two different beers that were brewed on-site. Both were delicious! Can't wait to come back and see the other beers they brew.
Great "coffee house" with so much more! Great food, drinks, and live music with a green/sustainability orientation
Beautiful atmosphere friendly staff. Tried a martini on happy hour it was a ginger flavored vodka martini with a tiny ginger gummy as garnish. We also tried the chocolate creme brulee it was absolutely heavenly. It's a gorgeous spot highly recommend checking this place out.
Food was very good, service was excellent!
Very tasty and very-very healthy food. Great choice of the ORGANIC BEER
Started going to Uncommon Ground shortly after they opened almost 19 years ago. Great people, great food.
Delicious food and home grown herbs, very friendly staff, you MUST order a side of the waffle with the berry compote.
I have never had a bad experience at Uncommon Ground. The staff is always friendly, quick and efficient, the food is top notch, local and seasonal, and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfy. I love going in the colder months for their hearty pumpkin ravioli and a great glass of wine or a mug of their chai next to the fireplace. It's good for groups or for an quiet evening with a friend. I keep going back and am never disappointed.
Great stuff
Well honestly I was expecting the" organic" restaurant to have lot btr food... N thr was a black eyebrow hair in ma mac n cheese like on the side of the little bowl... So food was eh.... But I would rate it 4 for the alcohol... I loved the skyrocket nirvana beer it has a kick of cbd oil and We also enjoyed the koval distillery samples they had on the rooftop farm!!! /wouldn't mind going bk for their organic beer n cocktails!!!! /not so much of the food though!!!
We visited for dinner and a show. The show was quite good, however both service and food quality were only okay. I had a chicken dish with potatoes where the potatoes were not fully cooked and the chicken was bland (although appeared to be cooked, so that's good). Our waiter while very friendly was clearly spread too thin serving endless numbers of tables and stopped by maybe 4 or 5 times for our large table in the 2.5 hours we were there. Eventually we basically gave up ordering another drink and just drank water until we ran out. I will add that the rest of the table was satisfied, but not wowed by their food.
Great atmosphere, not many low carb options, but we had a salad and steak, which was amazing. Need to find more excuses to come to Chicago, just for this restaurant.
Food used to be great, but after today’s visit it seemed like cheaper ingredients. The egg in my sandwich looked like it was from McDonald’s. I hope they change back to how it used to be....
used to live right across the street from here and all i can say about that situation is,... it was dangerous for my wallet. Still frequent this place when im in the neighborhood though. Great farm to table food... especially in the summer (When they take their fresh grown herbs from their roof and put it right on your plate). Creative seasonal dishes with great weekly drink specials. If you are into organic farm to tables, this is a must visit.
The first time I came here was just for take out and I got chilaquiles, which was pretty good for a non-Mexican restaurant. The next time I came was with my gf and we dined in for lunch. For an appetizer we ordered the calamari, which, hence the restaurant’s name, was uncommon, but still DELICIOUS. (There were too many commas in that sentence. I know I know.) Whatever the squid was marinated in made it probably the best calamari we’ve ever had. I ordered the mac-n-cheese, but it wasn’t the best at all. She ordered fish tacos and those weren’t appetizing as well. We also ordered a couple alcoholic drinks, but they were completely watered down.
Great cocktails and vegan gluten free risotto
I have had a great experience here every time I have gone to Uncommon Ground. The food is terrific and the service is top notch. It's a great place for date or small group gathering. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and will make you feel like you're at home.
Finally a place that serves REAL food. You’ll leave feeling amazing. The food the atmosphere, There should be many more of these!
Mellow atmosphere, great food. Wait staff was friendly, informative, courteous, helpful and attentive. Food was delivered to our table promptly and warm. Presentation was appealing. I highly recommend the pork chop with the bacon braised greens. No problems or extra charges for special orders. Meat was tender and properly cooked. Vegetables were just right, not mushy or overcooked.
I stopped at Uncommon Ground when I was passing through on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is definitely steered more towards a vegetarian audience. For lunch I decided when in Rome, do as the Romans do. I went with the vegetarian chili and the tomato sandwich. The chili was hearty and wholesome. I am usually an omnivore and I prefer a chili that is light on the beans, but in spite of that it was flavorful, and slightly acidic with a nice bite of spice. I also ended up enjoying the tomato sandwich. It was a nice combination that used fresh heirloom tomatoes alongside fried green tomatoes. The winner in the dish was the aoli that brought the dish together. The only criticism I have is that it was a bit difficult to eat, even with the giant toothpick holding things together, the layers of the sandwich were slipping all over the place. I don't mind that much because messy sandwiches are some of the best you can have.
I feel they think to highly of themselves. Been here a few times and personally, for the product, nothing outstanding. Last visit I had a burger. It was tasty enough, but I don't recall ever having a "chewy" burger before. Seems they need to be a bit more selective of the meat they grind. Certainly not the worst place, but it could definitely be better.
Excellent coffee, and a pleasant alternative to the green monster.
Delicious food and a great pet-friendly patio that's not directly next to the road. Unfortunately, on this visit it took over an hour to get our food, as I believe the order was lost or not placed. Server was extremely apologetic, but it still made for a long evening!
Fun place to play.Good beer!
Awesome Open Mic nights and good food.
Visited this restaurant in Aug 17 2019. I feel that it’s overpriced, and service was so sloooow. Our sweet potato fries came cold. I think the server forgot about us. Maybe they were under staffed that day. Food should not cost that much...even if the tomatoes are grown on the roof. Also, after looking at other reviews, I noticed that the restaurant staff only reply to the good reviews. You might want to start commenting on the bad reviews. It shows that you care about the bad experiences also.
Walked in on a Friday night around 9pm, no one up front no one behind the bar waited up front for 10 minutes nothing, called the business phone number and a female sitting at the bar with other customers looked over drank her beer and after some time answered, she was rude, unprofessional, our party were treated unwelcome and unwanted
My wife and I found our way here last night to eat and hear Spectators, Noa Jordan, and The Daily Fare. Comfortable like back home in Fayetteville. The bands (new to us) were friendly, personable, and approachable. Great place and a great time.
Nice atmophere and good food
Great food and drinks. Gluten free and vegan options.
Awesome place! It's got a nice ambiance with a real fireplace, but it's a bit bright.
Friendly service, amazing food, great beer selection, good mixed drinks. Atmosphere is cozy and homey. Nice couches to sit around the fireplace, though if it's a busy night you'll have a hard time getting these seats. A tree up for Christmas, etc. The atmosphere is what really sells this place, but then I'm always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food too. I love the big windows onto the street, makes this an especially nice place to have a drink when the weather is Chicago nasty outside.
Their brunch is amazing. It's slightly off the beaten path so the vibe here is much nicer than most of Wrigley also. Everything is more local and tastes wonderful.
The food was great and service was great, the atmosphere was friendly and warm
Excellent wait staff and delicious food. Little on the pricey side but well worth it for the atmosphere and what you're getting.
Friendly staff. Love the philosophy behind the restaurant. Enjoyed the patio. Menu was not as unique as I was expecting it to be (I had a burger, daughter had fish & chips, son had mac & cheese, and my wife had a salad), but all of it was good. Flight of brews made on site was also good. Price was high.
Staff was friendly and cater well to allergies. Though they served cold, soggy old fries on my initial plate but they did replace with a new order. Menu is pretty expensive though.
Great place to meet with friends and share a meal. Great digital art display by Gary Gantert Photography.
I never thought about putting chorizo in Mac and Cheese but now I don't know if I'll ever be able to have it without it now. The beer and atmosphere were also great.
I just don't get this place. I have given it 3 chances and each time it fails differently. The first time I get a really tough steak with a butter knife. Took a while to flag down a server, but ultimately rectified the situation. The second time we went for beers and sat so long the manager had to tell the bartender to serve us. The third time we sat outside at a rickety table and we weren't acknowledged by a server. Bus boy came by and said we would have a server come over and nothing for another 5 minutes on a Friday night with ample staff. We got up and left. I love the idea of this place but man it can fall short sometimes.
Excellent selection of fresh, delicious foods! Love the collaboration with Green Star Brewing. We shared a chopped salad and green star bbq chicken with fresh vegetables, which was more than enough for two. Friendly s attentive service.
We stopped here before the Cubs game for a healthy lunch. We sat on the patio, which is dog friendly! My fiance got a salad and I got the Turkey club with side salad. The service was fast, and the food was very fresh and delicious. I would definately come back again.

My goodness this was amazingly delicious! I had the grass fed chimichurri steak with grilled shishito peppers and grilled corn and I honestly don’t know how they could have improved on the dish. Absolutely perfect.
My husband and I came to uncommon ground for the first time to see a friend play at one of their Thursday night shows. Upon entry there appeared to be no one in the entire restaurant (customers or employees). Though we did see a bunch of people sitting outside on the patio. We were greeted after a few minutes and directed to go sit in the back room where the stage was. The atmosphere of the restaurant is laid back and casual. All the employees were very nice, but they seemed to be understaffed. It took us about 20 minutes to get one flight of beer which was delicious. My favorite was the BC Kolsch made with black currants. It took us about another 20 minutes to get another glass of beer. We still had not received our food yet but after the waiter checked on it we received it quickly and it was still hot but it did take about an hour to get our order of the Beyond Burger and vegan Cesar side salad. They did apologize, like I said it seemed like they were understaffed. The music was great! It was a really fun time and worth the $10 ticket. The lettuce is grown right there on the roof and you could tell! It was so fresh and delicious. The burger and fries were satisfying also. I would enjoy coming here again to sit on the patio outside on a nice day.
Great place to meet with friends and share a meal. Great digital art display by Gary Gantert Photography.
This restaurant offers a variety of beers and local ingredients in all their dishes! We paid this place a visit for a late brunch/lunch and got seated promptly. I ordered the lemonade once I knew this was the farm to table kind of place. Let me just say i didn't disappoint!! It was definitely the perfect drink for a hot summer day in Chicago. For food, I ordered the roasted red pepper sandwich. The portions are pretty generous here - so come really hungry or ready to pack the rest of your meal to go. The quality of the ingredients were fresh and rich. I loved every bite of my food - although my plate probably said otherwise. My stomach got the best of me and I definitely hit my food coma faster than I thought. Probably shouldn't have drank all that lemonade.....The food was great and they offered a variety of local hot sauces to pack in a punch if you love some heat on your food like me. The service was a little hit and miss. I found it rather slow at the beginning and felt like we were tucked away to a corner most of the time there. While it was nice to be by the bay window - it seemed like we were at a table on a lonely island. They did have patio seating, but nothing shaded which is why we opted to sit inside. Overall cute breakfast spot and solid food options!
Food is excellent. Prices on food and drinks is high.
Enjoyable atmosphere, interesting beers/ciders available, and large dinner portions.
Great cozy atmosphere, servers were very sweet and attentive. Food was a little pricey but it was worth it for the outdoor patio with fireplaces and live music. Plus its dog friendly which is great!
Amazing laid back date night experience. The place is really well set up with great art and lighting and seating. Great venue for live music and open mic performances. Mitch served us at the bar and he gave exceptional service and the welcoming host was accommodating as well.
Best farm to table food experience I’ve had in Chicago. I recommend going for their seasonal or holiday menus.
I like the food . Good customer experience
Great food and drinks that are also locally sourced and organic. Get the sweet potato fries!
It's definitely a little more pricey, but their breakfast chilaquiles were amazing. I would also recommend their breakfast potatoes, and the other vegan dish.
The food was very expensive, and not good.
Delicious and high quality ingredients. Loved sitting out on the patio under their charming lights and enjoying a meal with great friends. Live band was there also, awesome time!
Vibe was cool. Show phenomenal (Amanda Brown was headline) food could have been better. Fries were overcooked and hard and grass fed hamburgers were dry. Enjoyed my time will they again. Staff was fantastic
Great food and service.
This place has the BEST SALADS! Staff was friendly and gracious.
Amazing food and coffee. Great service.
Nice ambient atmosphere and being one of the storytellers the other night, it was intimate and the staff made sure it stayed that way
Nice meal well prepared. Good place to meet friends for a drink. Very pleasant.
After waiting 90 minutes to be served food or seated, I gave up and called a Lyft to be taken elsewhere. I've never been so ignored in any establishment. A nice start to my birthday weekend!
A little pricey, but definitely worth making a trip over here if you're in Wrigleyville. It has a cool atmosphere, nice to sit outside. You can bring dogs.
Ist impression was just ok. I need to return to develop a real opinion.
Beautifully varied seasonal menu including seasonal drinks. The only time I've been (so far) was on a brisk fall evening and Uncommon Ground was extremely warm and inviting, cozy and friendly.
Great ambiance and food. Try something you don't normally get. Waffle and chicken was amazing. Enough for 2.
A little pricey but an excellent spot for vegans and carnivores alike to get a delicious meal. They're very eco conscious here and do what they can to have a sustainable operation.
Great food, friendly service!
I live in the neighborhood and liked this place before it went all "green and locally sourced". I used to treat myself to a great burger - under $10 including sweet potato fries, lettuce, tomato, red onion, dijon mustard, etc. AND a soft drink. They even managed to cook it rare, as ordered, more often than not. Last week I tried again - got a smaller burger, slightly overcooked, without tomato (not in season, locally) and overcooked sweet potato fries (extra charge). The bill with tip came to very bit of $20, with just tap water! That's too much for a tomato-less, average-tasting burger - no matter how organic and politically correct. Let's get real!
Great local venue for live music
You must order the Sauteed Wild Mushrooms with Fried Polenta and the Big Fork Bacon Sausage with Caramelized Onions and Red Peppers--you will not be disappointed! Later in the night, my friend and I enjoyed the Royce Lovett opening performance and the Ethan Butler acoustic show in the Clark Street Music Room. Such crazy talent and savory foods! Stellar evening at Uncommon Ground--thank you!!!
Amazing venue with good food and drinks to match.
Great service great food! Had drinks and dinner. Very good taste.
The salad is made of magic. Get it. All the food is good here.
Some friends and I tried out Uncommon Ground for dinner and it was fantastic! We sat on their sidewalk patio and it had a wonderful ambiance, a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing meal in the summer. We tried a variety of things at our table: avocado tempura tacos, chili, goat cheese dip and the tomato sandwich with sweet potato fries. I must say that everything was delicious except the chili which was extremely bland. My favorites were the tempura tacos and the dip. I'd highly recommend either of them. The drink menu was great as well and we enjoyed an array of cocktails and beer - none of which disappointed. Definitely check out Uncommon Ground if you have the chance!
Awful. Just plain awful. Bad service and bad food. Do not come here.
Awesome food and service.
Terrible. Bland, over priced food, slow service. No water was brought to the table. I requested iced tea and got hot tea. They were polite, however. Skip this place and go somewhere better.
I met 3 friends for brunch on a Sunday at 10AM, it wasn't yet busy. However, it took 15 minutes for me to get the chai latte that I ordered. My friends arrived about 5 minutes after I did and it also took them forever to get their drinks. We ordered breakfast at about 10:20 and it did not arrive until 10:50. We weren't in a hurry, but it seems ridiculous given how slow it had been when we first arrived. I had the Chilaquiles and my eggs were lukewarm, which basically meant they'd been sitting around while the other dishes were created. The side potatoes were warm, crisp and tasty. My friends ended up liking their egg sliders. It ended up being ~$25 each. We go out for breakfast once/month to a new place each time and there are plenty of good places. So, considering the slow service and lukewarm food, I wasn't impressed, so won't be returning.
Food really eh especially for around $20 a dish. Not really any flavor in either entree
Good food and good service
Amazing food, great service, nice atmosphere. Kid friendly.
Pretty damn good.
Open house 1st Monday every month. Go for the experience !
The concept and restaurant itself are nice but the service and food were mediocre. First we waited about 15 minutes for our server to say hi to us when we first sat down. Ordered drinks and the cheese pesto appetizer. The dip was a little bland but was okay. They give you toasted regular white bread to dip, definitely not enough for the dip either and we asked the server for more bread for the dip. It’s an extra $4.00 for 3 slices of bread cut into triangles. Our server would disappear for long periods of time. I ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it was decent. My favorite thing about it was the pickles on the sandwich. The fries that came with it were terrible, flavorless and seemed old. We ordered the “special” desert they offered that night. It was a vanilla cake with sea salt caramel drizzle. When it was brought to us it was very cold, flavorless and dry. I don’t think I’ve had a worse cake in my life. The server told us the cake is left in a refrigerator which is understandable but it tasted like it was in the back of the refrigerator for 1 week. Definitely will never returning, too overpriced for what you get. The funniest part of the night was our server taking back my food into the kitchen to pack it up so I can take it home. She never returned with it and eventually after about 40 minutes we asked another server to help find out what happened to my food. She came back quickly out of the kitchen with it but small details like that kinda ruin your experience there. Again, overpriced for what you get.
Ordinary snooty coffee heavy restaurant
Great food, great staff!
We had a party of 6 and everyone enjoyed their breakfast. I had a smoked salmon, fantastic! They prepare food with herbs and vegetables from their rooftop garden. Really amazing and our waiter was fantastic. If you haven't checked it out you should. I think you will like whatever you have. They have a full liquor bar too.
Beautiful restaurant and vibe
Rooftop Farm is delightful. Large dog-friendly patio is very nice. Friday's they have free music on the patio, food was good, beer was good - we enjoyed ourselves.
Service was good, atmosphere was super cute, and I got brussel sprouts and mulled wine. Wonderful.
It was good, but their prices are way too high for what you get. I got Jamaican jerk chicken and my girlfriend got fish tacos. Good food, but not anything special.
Delicious and healthy food! Bingo! The spring hash was so colorful and tasty. The server was gracious. The place is full of glorious semi abstract nature paintings. We will definitely be back
Everything was amazing. My waitress was extremely helpful. My roommate had the fish tacos and they were so good.
Great place for family & friends. Great healthy meals, awesome music and excellent staff who serve with a smile!
Beautiful rooftop!
My goodness this was amazingly delicious! I had the grass fed chimichurri steak with grilled shishito peppers and grilled corn and I honestly don’t know how they could have improved on the dish. Absolutely perfect.
I go there for the open mics. The food is OK but it's way overpriced. I guess it is all organic and what not. But the servers usually are pretty terrible anyways. Every time I go, it's like it's their first day! Same goes for the Devon location. Their beer is also just ok, needs work.
Beautiful artwork and wait staff
Amazing service! Amazing food! Amazing Bloody Mary! Highly recommended!
Came to Uncommon Ground for my friend's show last night, and unfortunately was never even allowed to see it. I reserved a table for two, over the phone, over 24 hours in advance of the show. Was told, "once you show up, the price of your …
Although I have live in the vicinity of this place for years, I never stopped in until today. Low & behold this is the best neighborhood eatery I've been to in a while!! Sidney is the most refreshing bartender who gave the best Monday Martini for $6 with most pleasing attitude ever! Uncommon Ground makes Monday a good day again! Not to mention the food! Try the fried green tomatoe sandwich! Mmmm
Total contrast from my last experience at the Devon lication (which was several months ago). Great Sunrise Sammy--tasty brioche bun, lovely fluffy eggs--and fresh squeezed OJ that was sweet and not very tart.
Love food, loved ambience. Great spot for lunch.
Great little music spot. Inventive beers and good food!
It's fine. I haven't eaten much here but what I've had was good. The beer is strong, but very pricey.
The IPA and Sweet Potato fries are fantastic!
Nice and trendy! I really like the space and vibe; it kinda made me want to eat healthy. I went in for lunch with a group of seven, and we had no trouble finding a table. I was a little disappointed in my dish (Turkey burger), although the others' looked quite nice. It was just bland, and really didn't stick out as something memorable or something i couldn't make myself. I'd give it a shot if you were in the market for a salad.
Had a beer after concert. Staff were friendly. Will stop by again
Good food!!
DELISH! And the staff were incredible!
I took my daughter here while visiting her in Chicago. This restaurant is just down the street from Loyola university. Farm to table with elegance! It’s also delicious!!!
Unique and fresh, good service and a nice atmosphere
Delicious amd funky. Great service.
Located across the street from Wrigley Field, it's an island of tranquility and organic eats in a neighborhood that would rather eat hot dogs at a sports bar. The menu changes seasonally but nearly everything I've had here was good, especially the brunch. In the summer snag a seat in their sidewalk patio and in the winter snuggle up with a drink in front of their large fireplace.
Delish. The food could have been hotter but flavor was very good. Try their home made soda which is what soda should taste like. Our little group has many dietary restrictions and the server was patient going above and beyond helpful in advising on choices. I'll certainly go back.
Great food, good service and nice atmosphere
Delicious food, and a fun place to take visitors because all the food comes from a 300 mile radius of the restaurant location. Definitely recommend!
Not only is the food great, but they grow vegetables on site. Great spot for those who eat meat and don't. Many of my vegetarian friends love it. Whatever you do, don't miss the lemon-ginger martini. It rocks (without being on the rocks).
Great spot with really great atmosphere. Everything on the menu should make everyone happy that you bring. Even cooler that theyre a local tap. Super satisfied. Wait staff is kind and attentive. Overall great time
Uncommon Ground is an unique element of live entertainment. If you don't like young adults with their own energy that translates into music of the contemporary jazz genre and infused with rap and poetry, stay home and watch reruns. But if you are curious about what our college students and graduates are about, if your ear can appreciate grassroots old school jam sessions where talented musicians drop in and lend their appreciable skills to the blend with contemporary twists of creativity. And food, yes food and drink that breaks the chain of common place wannabe establishments then I invite you to treat yourself and friends to a good atmosphere of relaxation with respect to yourselves and enjoyments of music, food and drinks. I would say more, but it would be uncommon of me to tell all. Bye4now G.
Delicious food! Even tried their vegan chorizo (not sure if that’s on the menu anymore), which was amazing. Great place to get a bite before stopping at the Metro Chicago for a concert!
Great space, food & live music 7 nights a week. An everyday spot that's always special.
Good food. Clean place.
three words: sweet potato fries! 6 of us showed up for a late lunch on friday afternoon, were seated immediately, and proceeded to have some incredibly awesome food! service was on the spot, not too overbearing but left nothing to be desired. they've got a lot of menu items with goat cheese, and all of the ones we tried were outstanding. but the sweet potato fries were absolutely worth going for, if nothing else!
I'm a big fan of Uncommon Ground. I love the space and the food. Plus they often have live music and they are big supporters of sustainability and green movement. As a matter of fact, Uncommon Ground was the Country's First Certified Organic Roof Top Farm. Pretty cool. I love that they offer a lot of vegetarian options and it seems like everything on their menu is tasty. The cocktails are just as good, too.
Satisfying brunch
An excellent space for parties (baby showers, birthdays, anniversaries). It has a stage for concerts or shows and rooms that can be partitioned for privacy. I highly recommend. The service is above and beyond--so polite! Every person from the managers to the servers--great job!
DO NOT ORDER CALAMARI. Their calamari is basically just fried batter with Korean sauce. Didn't taste any squid and it didn't even seem like there was any in there. You get fried batter for 13$. Another thing that's absolutely stupid is that you're expected to tip for the musician coverage. We went there for a friend and the music and atmosphere is good, but the food is aweful. We had some drinks and 3 meals, which was 40ish bucks, fine with tipping for that. But the food was bad except for the fish tacos. But on top of that it's 10$ coverage for the music each person, THAT YOU HAVE TO TIP FOR. I have never heard of tipping the server for the musicians playing. Over priced mediocre food served to college kids who don't really get that they're getting ripped off. 13$ for "calamari" without any squid, 12 for bad macaroni and cheese. Never ever going back there even if my friends perform there. One of the biggest rip offs I've run into in this city.
Cozy, great food, great staff, live music, outdoor eating area, great atmosphere. I’m thrilled that the cafe of my youth is now a full-service restaurant and rooftop garden! Seriously, go and try it out. You’ll have a great time.
Best brunch in Chicago! This is my regular Sunday spot!
No specific complaints, but was a little underwhelmed at what you get for the price.
Unwelcoming hostess ruined early Fathers Day brunch for us. Evaluation is not for food (we wanted to leave ASAP), just for experience. It was our fault in situation as well, but hostess could't control herself and gave us too many of her "lessons". Fortunately, there are many other restaurants around.
We came here on November 11 for coffee. I ordered a 16 oz. Americano and my son a 4 shot 8 oz. latte. Assuming reasonable prices that should have totaled around $8 to $10 max, we were shocked at the $19 bill for two mediocre espresso drinks. The Americano was around $3.50 or so - high but not unreasonable. The 4 shot espresso latte was $15.50!!! I complained to the manager who found the staff had overcharged but that espresso still came out to $10.50. This was unquestionably the worst gouging I've experienced in 3 decades of ordering espresso drinks. This place should get out of the espresso business until they educate themselves in the art and business of coffee.
Super cozy. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had the vegan chilaquiles and it was amazing! The chai here is a must. The only downside is that it's pretty limited on vegan breakfast options. Still so good!
This used to be one of our go-to places for either a date night or to take out of town guests to. I love the concept of the restaurant and their support of sustainability and keeping a lot of their ingredients local. Last night we went to celebrate our two-year anniversary there, partially because of the history we have with the restaurant, partially because a lot of restaurants are closed on Mondays and partially because we were planning last minute. All I can say is that in general the food is very good – interesting, wide variety and range of price points. The service though seems to get worse and worse every time we go. Last night our service was subpar. We let them know ahead of time it was a special occasion but no recognition of that from the host or server. We were placed at a table where we could see the kitchen and clearly the staff just wanted to go home (we were a 7:45 pm reservation and not the last people there). There was two different types of music playing at the same time – I think from the kitchen and then in the restaurant which was distracting and acoustically annoying. The kitchen staff kept coming out to watch the game which is fine, except with the overall servers and host being nonchalant and not engaging about everything, it definitely came off the wrong way – as in “Please finish up your food so we can go home”. I want to continue to love uncommon ground but at this point I’m not sure if it’ll be on my list for restaurants anymore.
Stopped in before a Cubs game on a Saturday night. W needed both vegan and gluten free options and this place accommodated to both with several options. I split the smash burger and pork tacos with my son and both were great. My wife(G.Free) had the shrimp tacos and my daughter(vegan) said this was the best impossible burger she has had to date. The fries were great as well. Beer selection is great too. Highly recommended next time you are in Wrigleyville. Just a short walk from the Friendly Confines.
Competent but doesn't knock my socks off, if you know what I mean. The food was just kinda, eh, especially the salads.
Fennel Sausage was extremely delicious. The dirty Martini was exquisite. Waffle Sunday was BOMB AF.
Food and beer is amazing. They have a great beer selection for an amazing pirce. The place is really clean. Staff is super friendly!
Nice place. Decent meals. Reasonable portions. Wife really liked the fried green tomato sandwich.
Checked out the spectacular rooftop garden...ingenious. We ate outside. Beautiful night. Superb food. Slowly paced service. Great cocktails and beers. Definitely returning.
The fish in the fish tacos was fried a bit greasy and not good. It is expensive, and I think that is normal for organic restaurants, so, probably not expensive relative to its peers. Performances there expand me intellectually. It almost feels like someone has come to your home to entertain you, for some reason. Progressive performers. I will come back.
Pretty eclectic menu and drinks. Def come here for something unique
Very pleasant evening, food & music. Great waiter too.
Organic, tasty foods with no junk in them, and great craft beers. Families seem to really like this place too.
Service here is fanatic and accommodating. It was my first time here for NYE and I was confused about what was included with my package but a waiter (wish I knew his name!) was really helpful. Wonderful evening with live music and delicious drinks. Their Lakeview location is the only one I’ve had food at, but it’s always been a 10/10. Thanks for an awesome end to 2017!
Wow! If you're thinking about going to this restaurant...DO IT! Wonderful food and atmosphere.
The food is good, but every time i come in i keep getting smaller portions. Mediterranean chicken - 22$ main dish comes with literally only 100 grams of chicken. It wasn't like that in the past. 3* for the slow service and the portion size
Great fresh food. The vegetables are unbeatable! Flavoring and spices left a little to be desired.
Amazing fresh food! Went with friends and we all get different things and they all looked delicious. Also tried some local beer and that was great as well. Server was professional and had good suggestions. If I'm back in Chicago I will definitely go back.
Great place for good food and local music
The atmosphere is very cozy and our waiter we very friendly and made our meal fun. I ordered the vegan vegetable hash with eggs, it was delicious. I definitely want to eat here again soon.
Great Venue for small concerts. Great food.
Cool local menu that's always changing with what's available. Was able to get a few great beers and some excellent food before a Cubs game without the huge Wrigleyville crowds before a game. Helpful wait staff that knew the menu well.
Great food & drink, loved the patio.
The brunch here is pretty good. Sadly, it gets hot as hell inside. We went twice. The first time was outside, which was pleasant. The second time, we were roasting in a full house. It was so hot and uncomfortable, we had to escape back outside to breath. At the bar, there's a few places in which the floor board lifts your stool up when someone walks by. No complaints with the food, but it's not the best we've had and a little overpriced for what you get. Again, it must be a common thing with this neighborhood, but staff just isn't that friendly. Perhaps it's generational or just regional, but no one seems to really give a damn how you're doing or how the food is. The other location is about the same.
The food was bleh. Nothing about it justified paying so much money for it.
Great spot for music, good food
We Came for a baby shower and the waitress was excellent! I have a specific diet and she knew exactly what ingredients were in the food and told me right away what I could and couldn't eat. We enjoyed the food, a unique take on traditional American fare along with the outstanding service. We will return!
We were looking forward to having lunch here but unfortunately the experience was poor. The hostess seated us at a table in the bar area. Given it was a Sunday afternoon, and it was slow, there was no reason to put us near the noisy bar. We had a baby with us, which made it more odd. The waitress was very slow, and took a long time to take our order, and even lo longer to get the food. At $13.00 for pancakes, I would expect much better service. I won't be returning. The food was good though.
Really good looking and tasting food.
Food is *very* overpriced for what you get (18$ for a sausage??), Service took forever to just come and take our orders. Actually bailed since nobody came after 20min
We came in here randomly after watching a performance at the Public House Theater down the street one frigid winter day & were immediately impressed by the decor and staff. We took a seat at the bar and struck up a conversation with the bar tender, Lee. He's an impressive guy - does all their infusions & know SOOO much about beer. Very cool guy. He's remembered us in subsequent visits. The food is tasty as well - we've mostly had the apps, not the entrees, but they do Cheese Curds really well. On top of that, they have a very impressive beer list and great space. Live music on the weekends in a room of the main section and a big seating area in the back.
This is our go-to sit down dinner place in our neighborhood. Great, fresh food with delicious drinks, salads, and desserts. Lots of seasonal options. They brew their own beer too and offer flights.
Terrible service, took too long for food to be delivered. Never again.
Nice place, good food, friendly staff
Great meal with excellent customers' service
Service was friendly but it took an extremely long time to get our food. It was a bit strange being that it wasn't all that busy, although even the host seemed overwhelmed, despite the fact that the place was half empty. The food quite good. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal and the portions are pretty hearty. I wouldn't go out of my way to return but if I'm in the area, I'd def come back.
Great food great options friendly staff
Great venue for live bandsclean cozy and freindly
The band (The Curry's and Steve Everett) was amazing! The food was amazing! The drinks were great! The ambiance is nice. It's just a little cramped. If I could have given this 4.5 stars, I would have.
I went with friends to see a few local musicians and was pleasantly surprised to find a charming restaurant setting with a very personal stage in the back room. Great service thought the show and a unique beer list.
Good place nice food awesome prices
a great selection of vegan and non vegan food. the food was amazing and the restaurant had a very good vibe. we had great service as well!
The food was great. Being a vegetarian it's always hard to find somewhere my carnivore boyfriend and I both have plenty of options to choose from. Not the case here. It was difficult for me to choose so I ended up getting a few. The smoked gouda mac n cheese had great flavors and the risotto was pleasant as well. Thank you for a new favorite. Hopefully we'll be able to stop back again during this trip to Chicago.
Great local pub that focuses on quality. Great food, excellent bar staff, events regularly. My first visit happened to line up with tour times for Greenstar Brewery so I was able to meet their brewmaster and learn more about organic beer. Great for brunch, dining alone or events. Uncommon Ground is worth checking out.
Great food, can be noisy, especially after a Cubs game
Had the Mac & cheese, my wife had the veggie burger and the table shared sweet potato fries... All the food was excellent and the cocktails were equally enjoyable. Our waiter was funny and friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. They have their own small parking lot so no charge for parking. All together a very pleasant experience.
This place was great. My wife and I got a private tour of the rooftop, organic garden. We then saw those fruits and veggies used in your meal. The food and drinks were amazing. The atmosphere was rustic with great artwork on display that can be purchased. Most nights there is live music. A great patio is out back too for those nice evenings. I would definitely recommend this place. I'll be a regular here
This is a super nice place. We were by the tables outside and wherever you looked at there was a plant, edible plants
Nice outdoor space. My boyfriend said the meatloaf was the best he's ever had. The rice noodle salad was a disappointment for the price ($15). Lots of noodles and peanuts, but just 5 thin slices of cucumber and 5 slices of radish; I was expecting more from the description. When we said as much to the server, she said she'd give our feedback to the kitchen; no offer to bring any more. It had good flavor so if you're interested in a bowl of noodles, it'd be a good option.
I can’t say enough about this place. We have been talking about trying it for a while, and once we received a coupon for donating to public radio, it was the perfect chance. We went a little crazy because everything on the menu looked good, …
I went here last week for the first time and I realized I had been missing out. Its located close to Wrigley Field. It has a great fresh menu with a "farm to table" type of feel.
Overall: Good food and great atmosphere, just wish there were more options and less $$. The good: The ambience of the entire restaurant is really cool, with a lot of artistic decorcations and lighting. The service was very friendly and attentive and helpful with the menu. The food is good, with appropriate portion sizes and fresh ingredients. Nice patio The not-so-good: To be blunt, it's too expensive. The food was good but not great, and certainly didn't warrant the prices they had. My dad had two eggs, potatoes, and toast, and it was $15. That's absurd. The menu is interesting, but there aren't a ton of options on it. Atmosphere: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Food: 7/10
Noisy and lively. Good food, a tad overpriced.
Had a lovely time here with my dog and friends. All the servers were great. I loved the balance in the food I can't wait to go back and try something new. Even the manager came out and greeted my dog with a treat. Defintly a great patio.
Great food. Unusual twists on favorites that really work. And the music is great - particularly this jazz guitarist who’s playing tonight.
This place is beautifully decorated and has such a relaxing feel! The food is pricey but everything I’ve tried from here was high quality, so I feel like the cost is justified. I had the impossible burger and absolutely loved it. My husband got a beef burger and said it was one of the best he’s had. We tried the regular fries and sweet potato fries. Both are delicious. I also got a salad. It was so fresh and the house made dressing was great. Definitely check this place out!
I have walked passed this place hundreds of times and always looked inside and wondered what it was all about. I finally went in with my boyfriend and found out what it was all about. They have all locally grown produce and beer. My favorite item off the menu is the chicken sandwich and their steak is also to die for. For appetizers I love the spinach and goat cheese dip. They have great service but sometimes their staff can be a bit slow.
First, generally the food is mediocre and overpriced. Normally, would have received 3 (maybe 4 if everything else was amazing) stars from me. I'm giving 1 star though because of the service. I went with my girlfriend who is vegetarian and ordered a cauliflower dish. As she was eating, she found a piece of chicken in it (looked like it fell in from another dish). I (a meat eater) tasted it and confirmed. Not a big deal, it happens. She was disgusted and asked them if they could remake it. The waitress was very apologetic and took the chicken piece back. The manager came out a few minutes later and said he looked at the piece and it wasn't chicken, but overcooked cauliflower. That's why they're getting a one star rating. Don't try to lie to your customers. I eat chicken, I eat cauliflower, and overcooked cauliflower doesn't take on the texture and flavor of chicken (I'd be eating a lot more cauliflower if it did). Side note, I had the burger. It was nothing special. For a much better (and cheaper) burger with way better service, head down one block to Mordecai's.
I have been dining/drinking at Uncommon Ground from around the time they opened on the Grace Street location. I lived on Lakewood and Waveland from 1991 to 1995 and would stop by the 2 room restaurant after riding my Bike with friends. The …
We were waiting for our food for over an hour. Food was great but service was slowwww
Nice atmosphere and vegan options. The food was great. Private feeling outdoor seating.
Was not happy with the steak freitis, steak was so to tuff. $25 so not worth it.
Great food.. Service was so so
Good food but even better atmosphere! Cozy fireplace up front and a nice bar. Unpretentious spot to catch up with family and friends.
One of the best music lounges ive been to in Chicago. The best thing about it they serve dinner (unlike other places which only serve cocktail drinks and finger foods) The food were so delicious tasty and organic. At that time they have very nice music rendered by jazz singer Carlo Quidlat and his band.
Everything I've eaten is top notch, fresh and sustainable from local farms. The menu tells you what farm the meat is from and they are always changing it based on the seasons. You can't go wrong by stopping in here.
Nice outdoor area
Ordered a hamburger and it was not great.
Great outdoor patio atmosphere and good restaurant mission
Great atmosphere, service, food, and the beer is pretty dang good too! Enjoy!
I was here for an event, but can’t wait to go back. For some reason I always thought it was a coffee shop from the name, and never investigated further. The food was to die for, and so was the beer and cocktails. I’m not even a beer person and swooned over their porters. Now that I know how much they do for the farm to table movement and growing their own food, I will make it a point to go back.
The food is always good, that's not the issue. The space is cool, that's not the issue. The issue is with the wait staff. I have been regularly coming in (once or twice a month for over five years), and the staff has really gone down hill …
Had a lovely time and listened to some great live music. They've got an insanely well appointed patio for the summer and fall. Extensive menu with American standards and cocktails/beer. My friend and I were having a sober night so we ordered two of their non-alcoholic cocktails, they were UNREAL. So fresh and crisp and delicious.
Great local food. they do a wonderful job of being environmentally concious. Also the infused bourbon with rosemary is delicious!
Uncommon Ground is a very unique place to enjoy music and great food. I first visited Uncommon Ground for a concert put on by a friend of mine. The setting was very small, but that added to the uniqueness. I would highly recommend.
Great atmosphere and even better service! This place is completely worth it.. They even have entertainment pretty much every night! Treat yourself.
Tasty food in a nice atmosphere
LOVE this place. Will return.
Menu is small but the food was good. Staff were friendly. Our waiter was very good. Excellent jazz.
The Wrigleyville outpost of Uncommon Ground has a much different vibe from the Edgewater location, but is equally enjoyable. The menu is often identical, but can feature slight differences--so it's worth visiting both and deciding which …
Went here for brunch and it was beyond amazing. Got the cold and flu buster drink and the Neal Cassidy and both were amazing, also great presentation. The food was spectacular, got the ham french toast and the veggie hash, some of the best and healthiest/organic breakfast we've had in the city. Will be coming back!
Organic, humane and local they do all 3 and are 5 stars in my book. Food people serving up farm raised hard work! I like that I can feel good about and enjoy going out to eat when I go there. Like the sunshine salad, and if I am decadent and they have it, any of their flavors of breadpudding are delicious. My son loves the burgers and I will sometimes have a bite. My dog loves the patio, we sometimes go after a baseball game or the dog park and hit the one in Devon too.
Chilled place...good food, drinks and service
Really enjoyed my 1st dining experience here. Food was excellent, very nice ambiance & we sat right in front of the fireplace which made it tht much more perfect & cozy. Definitely will be back!
Came from Michigan for a cubs game. Place was dead and service was very poor. Only seen staff like once and didn't seem to people person friendly. I love craft breweries and supporting them but this place needs to pay attention to their patrons
Tried the impossible burger. Very good. If no one told me it wasn't real meat I wouldn't have known. I am not a vegan/vegetarian. I am an Uncommon Ground regular and this holds up to their excellent menu. Doesn't come with cheese. I had the chef choose the cheese and ended up with gouda. Highly recommend.
Great atmosphere, awesome hostess, and overall an awesome experience!
I used to like this restaurant, but I went in last night before a concert and my wife who is Celiac, not just gluten free, we told the server this and asked him about the gluten-free dishes on the menu which are clearly marked (in red) “gluten free” . We ordered the brussels sprouts which are marked as a gluten-free option on the menu (in red letters) and after my wife started eating it he came over to tell us that they only use one fryer for everything.... which means it’s far from gluten free. I’m grateful he told us, I’m very disappointed that the kitchen could care less about people with food sensitivities by marking things GF and using one frier for everything...The bearded trendy server was so nonchalant about telling us...
Coffee was good, but $3 a cup. I wasn't trying to impress anyone, just needed a hot coffee to warm up.
An outstanding place for quality food that's fairly affordable, without being too fancy. For music, this is probably Chicago's premier venue for songwriters and offers a fantastic listening room for them.
Who tf charges $17 for a burger. Relax.
David the bartender is the nicest human being in the world. He makes the best mised drinks and can hold a conversation unlike other bartenders. Aaron in the kitchen, his food is just mouth watering and I have never been disappointed in a meal from him. Definitely Reccomended.
I can’t say enough about this place. We have been talking about trying it for a while, and once we received a coupon for donating to public radio, it was the perfect chance. We went a little crazy because everything on the menu looked good, and everything was perfect. We started with the miso cauliflower, which was super tasty. My husband had the short rib and I had the Amish chicken, and we couldn’t decide which was better because both were delicious. The manager and server were both super attentive and helpful, making the entire visit perfect. And to make it better, their sister restaurant has the first certified organic rooftop garden in the country, so you know the produce is as good as it gets.
Overpriced but has good food and music.. Service is really really slow if they get busy and the seating is very cramped
Good food. Very relaxing place to go with friends where you can sit, eat, and talk. The garden is interesting. Love that they use so many vegetables that are grown on premises in the dishes.
Their service has improved since the last time I visited. Last time it was Valentine's Day and they stuck this single woman in a corner and I think my server saw me once they were nice when I complained. This time they sat me by the window, was able to to get a good view of the street and see what I was reading; the service that was attentive and the entree was good
Excellent food
One of our favorite restaurants. great food, great drink, and great music/art to boot. We especially like the breakfast/brunch menu. Best chilaquiles in town!
One of the better breakfast places in wrigleyville, or the city for that matter. They have all fresh ingredients and really knock breakfast out of the park. It's a great place to go early, sit outside, eat and people watch. I would strongly recommend you try this if you are in the area or even close. It's awesome.
Great food and great experience.
Good food, relaxing atmosphere, strong drinks.
I'm gonna call this just an average third wave coffee shop/restaurant with a performance stage included. It's clean, it's classy, it has a good ginger ale. I was there to see a friend performing a show. I liked the show, but the rest was so forgettable that I forgot I was ever there until Google reminded me I hadn't reviewed it. I think everyone has a different idea of what they are looking for in a restaurant/venue, so if you're a Wicker Park living craft beer drinking Tom's Shoes wearing Brandi Carlisle listening type of fella, I think you'll like it. No disrespect to Brandi Carlisle, she's dope AF.
Good food. Farm to table, and organic garden concept gives this place great potential
Great food, Lovely service. Had a great time!
One of my absolute favorite restaurants in Chicago. Every meal is unique and delicious. House made bloody Mary's are insane! Great outdoor seating in the summer and very dog friendly. Lakeview/Wrigleyville staple!
Bit pricey for the food you get
Met friends for appetizers, burger and drinks on the patio. The food was fresh and service fast.
Get the bacon wrapped meatloaf. Also the sweet potato fries and the mac and cheese are superb. Friendly place, good food, reasonable prices, and a performance space in the back. Also good for vegetarian/vegan options and organic beer.
Delicious food. Good drinks. Great service
Lots of fun choices on the dinner and cocktail menu. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Great food.
The food is admittedly decent, but they recently lost a reservation that I had made over the phone, and were unaccommodating and unapologetic about it. I was pretty frustrated with the experience.
Delicious! Great coffee, loads of vegan and veg options, and apparently the chimichurri steak was amazing.
Service was incredibly slow. Steak was raw, sent it back then the vegtables and sauces were ice, as in out of the refrigerator ice cold. Good dog friendly patio. Expensive for what you get
Wonderful place for a great together with options for dining or just a drink
Best sweet potato fries I've ever had. It's nice that they grow some of the food products themselves, but I found their steak to be unremarkable. It was a pretty decent meal overall, and the staff was really nice
I had my birthday brunch her with my girlfriends, about 10 of us. Great service, great food, great mission. It was perfect!
Great staff. Great music. Wonderful evening.
I can't speak for the food because I just went in for a quick drink with a friend. The drinks are a little on the pricey side, but we just had one and sat at the bar after a long day. I agree with the model of the restaurant, I plan to come back and actually eat food and will update when I do.
Uncommon Ground used to be a great spot to dine. The last few times I've been here, it's evident that the overall quality is lost on it's popularity. The service and the food were both subpar. The "steak & eggs" came out in less than 5 minutes, which obviously means it was pre-cooked and heated up. It was watery and tasteless. Ordered it medium and it came out rare and swimming in liquid. When mentioning to the waiter that the taste was not pleasing, he went to the kitchen and came back with some aioli sauce! In addition, our order of chilaquiles was dry and mainly chips; barely any eggs whatsoever. Waiter immediately brought us our check as if he just wanted to get it over with; never asked if we wanted more coffee or anything else. $57 brunch for 2 = Sunday afternoon regret. I remember a time when this place served up quality eats with great service. I won't be returning to UG again. Major disappointment.
